00:05:05.680 So that's my goal this morning. 00:05:06.840 --> 00:05:08.800 Three simple truths. 00:05:09.300 --> 00:05:18.340 Three simple hinges that your life, if it's going to be in alignment with that God offers to us through that amazing identity. 00:06:29.480 --> 00:06:39.460 I want us, when we're done with our time today, to wonder and marvel a little bit at the fact that Jesus is king. Second, I want to call you to active obedience. 00:07:45.939 --> 00:07:47.600 That's our second hinge. 00:07:48.319 --> 00:07:51.379 We're going to see that hinge in our passage today. 00:07:51.560 --> 00:07:59.879 That true disciples who understand the sovereignty and authority of their king respond in obedience to the king. 00:07:59.980 --> 00:08:04.319 They respond in humility to the king. Not just worship that happens on Sunday, but this becomes kind of the crescendo of the kind of worship that's happening throughout the week. 00:08:47.580 --> 00:09:05.220 As you're delighting in God, as you're coming to enjoy him from day to day, as through the expression of your life, there is this faithful, consistent, personal worship that explodes on Sunday morning. 00:09:05.220 --> 00:09:09.480 But God has called us to worship. 00:09:09.740 --> 00:09:17.940 And if he's king, worship is going to be built in to the reflex of what you do as a believer. 00:09:18.060 --> 00:09:19.639 So, let's look at Luke chapter 19, beginning in verse 28 together. 00:09:54.719 --> 00:09:57.720 We're going to see right at the outset the identity of the king. 00:09:58.379 --> 00:09:59.860 The identity of the king. 00:10:00.039 --> 00:10:00.899 Who is he? 00:10:00.899 --> 00:10:02.340 Who is this Jesus? 00:10:03.079 --> 00:10:04.220 What is he doing? 00:10:04.699 --> 00:10:05.620 What's he about? 00:10:06.299 --> 00:10:07.459 And do I believe it? 00:10:08.100 --> 00:10:09.319 This hinge of faith. 00:10:10.039 --> 00:10:11.959 Beginning in verse 28, it says, 00:10:11.960 --> 00:10:15.600 And when he had said these things, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. 00:10:15.600 --> 00:10:23.340 When he drew near Bethphage and Bethany and the mount that is called Olivet, he sent two of the disciples, saying, 00:10:23.340 --> 00:10:31.060 And go into the village in front of you, where on entering you will find a colt tied on which no one has ever yet sat. 00:10:31.480 --> things that would point to the reality of Jesus as Messiah. 00:11:56.620 --> 00:12:01.000 As he enters into Jericho, this blind man sitting by the way. 00:12:01.279 --> 00:12:03.919 Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me. 00:12:04.379 --> 00:12:08.360 And the significance of that title, which had messianic themes. 00:12:08.360 --> 00:12:15.580 And then Jesus himself, in calling himself, in using the title, son of man. 00:12:15.840 --> 00:12:18.620 Again, this clear messianic title. 00:12:18.840 --> 00:12:20.440 I am the Christ. 00:12:20.680 --> 00:12:23.139 I am the one that you've been looking for. 00:12:23.800 --> 00:12:25.379 Identifying himself as son of man. 00:12:26.060 --> 00:12:28.639 Then going up to Jerusalem, it says, Jesus says, 00:12:28.639 --> 00:12:33.860 Everything that was written about the son of man from the prophets will be accomplished. 00:12:34.620 --> 00:12:38.559 And those lights that were going off in the heads of those who were listening. 00:12:38.740 --> 00:12:39.039 Aha! 00:12:39.419 --> 00:12:40.480 This is the moment. 00:12:41.000 --> 00:12:41.659 It's here. 00:12:42.159 --> 00:12:43.139 The king has come. 00:12:44.259 --> 00:12:47.379 And this statement that Jesus makes to Zacchaeus. 00:12:47.779 --> 00:12:52.120 The son of man has come to seek and to save the lost. 00:12:53.039 --> 00:12:56.919 Then finally, the parable of the nobleman receiving the kingdom. 00:12:56.919 --> 00:13:00.699 And all of these things are wetting the appetite, 00:13:00.939 --> 00:13:03.699 growing or stoking the fires of enthusiasm. 00:13:03.699 --> 00:13:07.019 The crowd is saying to themselves, 00:13:07.399 --> 00:13:09.360 The kingdom is going to come. 00:13:11.279 --> 00:13:14.819 And the Lord continues to stoke these fires of fulfillment. 00:13:15.659 --> 00:13:17.779 And now Jesus takes the lead to Jerusalem. 00:13:18.039 --> 00:13:18.919 And that's important. 00:13:20.019 --> 00:13:26.699 Jesus takes the lead to Jerusalem to show that he is obedient to God himself. 00:13:27.719 --> 00:13:35.959 This demonstration of his obedience is pointing again to the fact that he is king. 00:13:36.759 --> 00:13:37.579 His obedience. 00:13:52.419 --> 00:13:55.919 Everything that is written about the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished. 00:13:56.679 --> 00:13:59.120 For he will be delivered over to the Gentiles, 00:13:59.319 --> 00:14:02.139 and will be mocked and shamefully treated and spit upon. 00:14:02.419 --> 00:14:05.299 And after flogging him, they will kill him. 00:14:05.459 --> 00:14:07.899 And on
