00:04:48.200 --> 00:04:49.040 as John called them, 00:04:49.040 --> 00:04:51.920 were trying to derail the faith 00:04:51.920 --> 00:04:53.560 of those believers 00:04:53.560 --> 00:04:55.340 in these churches in Asia 00:04:55.340 --> 00:04:56.800 that John was writing to 00:04:56.800 --> 00:04:58.879 by shifting their focus 00:04:58.879 --> 00:05:00.040 away from the clear, 00:05:00.260 --> 00:05:00.620 true, 00:05:00.860 --> 00:05:02.220 good news of Jesus. 00:05:03.220 --> 00:05:04.580 And although they were feeling 00:05:04.580 --> 00:05:06.060 in over their head, 00:05:06.600 --> 00:05:07.920 the Apostle John knew 00:05:07.920 --> 00:05:10.520 they had a sufficient helper 00:05:10.520 --> 00:05:12.700 to help them stand firm 00:05:12.700 --> 00:05:14.960 and hold fast to Jesus. 00:05:15.160 --> 00:05:16.200 And that helper's name, 00:05:16.199 --> 00:05:18.279 although he goes by the name of anointing 00:05:18.279 --> 00:05:19.099 in this passage, 00:05:19.680 --> --> 00:07:37.680 Jesus uses in John 15. 00:07:38.379 --> 00:07:38.759 He says, 00:07:39.099 --> 00:07:39.859 I am the vine 00:07:39.859 --> 00:07:41.259 and you are the branches. 00:07:41.899 --> 00:07:43.339 Whoever abides in me 00:07:43.339 --> 00:07:44.359 and I in him, 00:07:44.680 --> 00:07:46.219 he it is that bears much fruit. 00:07:46.539 --> 00:07:47.620 For apart from me,
