his death. 00:04:26.339 --> 00:04:28.099 So that's the work God wants to do in us. 00:04:28.259 --> 00:04:32.079 We want the power of his resurrection, but it comes with a cost. 00:04:32.639 --> 00:04:36.039 It's the fellowship of his sufferings in the flesh. 00:04:36.459 --> 00:04:38.699 And then one more, and I'll get into my message. 00:04:39.319 --> 00:04:41.359 Philippians 4, verse 13. 00:04:41.519 --> 00:04:45.199 And here's another one of those promises and his purpose. 00:04:45.199 --> 00:04:53.240 He says, I can do all things through Christ, which strengtheneth me. 00:04:53.420 --> 00:04:56.300 I preached another message about, for the love of Christ, constraineth us. 00:04:56.319 --> 00:04:57.620 That's why I got that messed up a little bit. 00:04:57.920 --> 00:04:59.759 I can do all things, all things. 00:05:00.019 --> 00:05:00.959 And that's the purpose. 00:05:01.620 --> 00:05:04.599 He has something he wants us to do, and he wants us to know that we can do it. 00:05:04.959 --> 00:05:09.379 And Paul, he can write this passage because he had done a lot of things, 00:05:09.419 --> 00:05:10.680 and he had done a lot of suffering. 00:05:11.219 --> 00:05:14.399 You can go to 2 Corinthians, you can see all the suffering, the shipwreck, 00:05:14.399 --> 00:05:15.299 the beaten with rods. 00:05:15.399 --> 00:05:16.799 You can see everything that Paul suffered. 00:05:17.179 --> 00:05:20.899 And at the end of this, he can say that I can do all things through Christ 00:05:20.899 --> 00:05:22.239 that strengtheneth me. 00:05:22.560 --> 00:05:26.500 And that idea of strengtheneth me is a continual strengthening 00:05:26.500 --> 00:05:30.560 to fulfill the purpose of God in you. 00:05:31.519 --> 00:05:33.259 So let's pray, and we'll get into the message. chapter 3, 15, we know that Satan attempted Adam and Eve in the garden. 00:06:20.100 --> 00:06:24.080 Eve ate the fruit, and then Adam came alongside and voluntarily ate the fruit, 00:06:24.160 --> 00:06:28.220 which is a wonderful picture of the Lord Jesus Christ taking sin for us. 00:06:28.280 --> 00:06:32.519 He steps in front of his bride, the bride of Christ, to take the sin debt. 00:06:32.620 --> 00:06:34.340 But then there's a promise here. 00:06:34.339 --> 00:06:38.000 The promise of God is in chapter 3, verse 15. 00:06:38.419 --> 00:06:40.419 He says there that I will put enmity. 00:06:41.019 --> 00:06:44.339 I will put enmity between thee and the woman. 00:06:44.419 --> 00:06:45.539 He's talking to the devil. 00:06:45.719 --> 00:06:46.479 He's talking to Satan. 00:06:46.819 --> 00:06:48.259 He said, I'm going to put enmity. 00:06:48.419 --> 00:06:50.500 I'm going to put something in between you and that woman. 00:06:50.579 --> 00:06:53.000 And we know that's a promise of the Messiah to come. 00:06:53.500 --> 00:06:55.139 Someday this Messiah is going to come, 00:06:55.179 --> 00:06:59.479 and he's going to put that separation in between the devil and the bride. 00:06:59.719 --> 00:07:01.579 And that's Jesus Christ. 00:07:01.659 --> 00:07:02.479 That's the gospel. 00:07:02.480 --> 00:07:05.920 And he goes on, and I want to look at this word enmity for a minute. 00:07:06.379 --> 00:07:10.020 Enmity means enemy or ill will or hatred. 00:07:10.500 --> 00:07:11.860 And we know the devil hates us. 00:07:12.259 --> 00:07:18.460 We know that in 2 Peter chapter 3, it says, or 1 Peter chapter 5, verse 6, 00:07:18.500 --> 00:07:22.280 it says your enemy, your adversary, the devil, prowls as a roaring lion, 00:07:22.439 --> 00:07:23.580 seeking whom he may devour. 00:07:23.680 --> 00:07:24.780 So the devil is after you. 00:07:25.360 --> 00:07:27.400 He doesn't have to seek after his own children. 00:07:27.560 --> 00:07:30.360 He doesn't have to seek after lost people. 00:07:30.360 --> 00:07:32.020 Well, he's coming after saved people. 00:07:32.340 --> 00:07:33.699 So he's our enemy. 00:07:33.819 --> 00:07:35.379 The Bible says he's our adversary. 00:08:20.500 It says, wherefore, by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin. 00:08:20.600 --> 00:08:23.560 And so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. 00:08:23.580 --> 00:08:25.480 You say, well, I was a baby. 00:08:25.540 --> 00:08:26.060 I didn't sin. 00:08:26.100 --> 00:08:27.640 Well, you're born under that sin nature. 00:08:27.980 --> 00:08:31.259 In Genesis chapter 5, it says that we're born in Adam's image. 00:08:31.379 --> 00:08:34.440 We're born under the condemnation of the law. 00:08:34.580 --> 00:08:37.460 Not everyone is a child of God until they get saved. 00:08:37.539 --> 00:08:39.480 I know the world says we're all children of God. 00:08:39.840 --> 00:08:41.500 Well, Genesis 5 says something different. 00:08:41.580 --> 00:08:42.840 It says we're children of Adam. 00:08:42.840 --> 00:08:49.460 Until we come under the gospel message and we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, the Bible says, and thou shalt be saved. 00:08:49.780 --> 00:08:56.940 John chapter 1, verse 12 says, but as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. 00:08:57.000 --> 00:08:59.019 Without Jesus Christ, you're not a child of God. 00:08:59.379 --> 00:09:01.500 John 8, verse 44 says you're a child of the devil. 00:09:01.620 --> 00:09:03.180 And the lust of your father you will do. 00:09:03.360 --> 00:09:05.519 So we have a choice that we have to make. 00:09:05.580 --> 00:09:09.800 Are we going to accept that promise of God, of a Messiah that was to come, a Savior to come?
