13 to 18. 00:00:19.640 --> 00:00:22.400 Let me just remind us a little of what we heard last Sunday. 00:00:23.039 --> 00:00:26.859 Paul is writing this letter to Timothy, and he's doing so from prison. 00:00:27.820 --> 00:00:34.140 He's in jail in Rome, the city of Rome, and he's actually chained up even into jail, and 00:00:34.140 --> 00:00:34.679 he's suffering. 00:00:35.600 --> 00:00:40.259 As we'll see a little later in this letter, Paul knows that his days are numbered, and 00:00:40.259 --> 00:00:42.119 that he will very soon be executed. 00:00:43.039 --> 00:00:48.379 He's already had a first hearing or trial of sorts, and he's writing this letter now 00:00:48.379 --> 00:00:55.600 to Timothy, a younger man who has been a co-worker of his and spreading the message of Jesus all 00:00:55.600 --> 00:00:56.920 over the Mediterranean world. 00:00:58.579 --> 00:01:04.000 Timothy eventually came to be stationed in the city of Ephesus and has been working with 00:01:04.000 --> 00:01:04.740 the church there. 00:01:06.620 --> 00:01:11.000 And so Paul writes to him probably there in the city of Ephesus. 00:01:12.120 --> 00:01:16.260 And as Paul nears the end, this is what we heard last Sunday. 00:01:16.260 --> 00:01:23.580 We heard Paul urge Timothy not to let his spiritual gift go unused, but to rekindle and fan it into 00:01:23.580 --> 00:01:24.640 flame, use it. 00:01:25.480 --> 00:01:32.800 And he reminded Timothy that the Holy Spirit lives in him and that he gives us power and 00:01:32.800 --> 00:01:35.240 love and self-discipline. 00:01:35.939 --> 00:01:42.980 All things that are needed for Timothy to go on using his gift amidst the challenges of persecution 00:01:42.980 --> 00:01:44.600 that are happening in his region. 00:01:46.120 --> 00:01:52.260 And Paul also reminded Timothy of the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ and his salvation 00:01:52.260 --> 00:01:59.620 and the promise of life and immortality that comes through Jesus, despite the fact that we 00:01:59.620 --> 00:02:00.120 all die. 00:02:01.439 --> 00:02:08.460 And Paul urged Timothy not to be ashamed of the gospel, of the testimony of the Lord ministry. 00:05:42.019 --> 00:05:44.480 Let's think about that word deposit for a moment. 00:05:45.339 --> 00:05:46.160 What's a deposit? 00:05:49.339 --> 00:05:53.819 Well, in this language that the Bible was written in, 00:05:54.339 --> 00:06:00.879 the word used here usually refers to the property of someone that has been entrusted to another. 00:06:00.879 --> 00:06:05.819 So in this case, Timothy has been entrusted with something. 00:06:06.639 --> 00:06:08.439 But it's come from another. 00:06:09.540 --> 00:06:10.779 It belongs to another. 00:06:10.899 --> 00:06:14.779 In this case,
