chats to Simon. 00:05:02.219 --> 00:05:04.339 And he gives Simon some fishing advice. 00:05:04.339 --> 00:05:08.159 Now, Jesus is giving Simon fishing advice. 00:05:08.259 --> 00:05:10.759 But actually, he's giving him pretty rubbish advice. 00:05:11.299 --> 00:05:16.439 Because if you're a fisherman, you know that you don't go fishing during the day. 00:05:17.079 --> 00:05:18.419 You go fishing by night. 00:05:18.799 --> 00:05:20.819 And what has Peter done all night long? 00:05:21.139 --> 00:05:21.979 Well, he's been fishing. 00:05:22.659 --> 00:05:24.519 And how much fish did he 00:06:05.040 --> 00:06:11.259 So Peter has already experienced Jesus and has met him, in a sense. 00:06:11.680 --> 00:06:13.220 But he's not yet a friend. 00:06:13.360 --> 00:06:14.579 He's not Rudolf, 00:08:37.319 --> 00:08:39.819 was not a Christian himself. 00:08:39.879 --> 00:08:40.580 He was very liberal. 00:08:40.580 --> 00:08:42.480 But he observed this in the Bible, 00:08:42.620 --> 00:08:43.700 the idea of the holy. 00:08:43.840 --> 00:08:47.320 And it's really, really helpful for us to understand what's going on here. 00:08:48.000 --> 00:08:52.600 He describes something that he calls the numinous principle, 00:08:52.900 --> 00:08:54.120 the principle of the numinous. 00:08:54.660 --> 00:08:59.700 And this principle describes the fear and awe and anxiety that you feel 00:09:06.519 --> 00:09:11.579 Do you know the feeling when you hang out with someone who is really, really smart? 00:09:12.840 --> 00:09:14.980 And you realize, man, I am not that smart. 00:09:15.659 --> 00:09:17.759 And you are confronted with your own inadequacy. 00:09:18.159 --> 00:09:21.319 Or you hang out with someone who is very attractive, let's say. 00:09:21.960 --> 00:09:26.860 And you think, oh, wow, I kind of feel a bit lower than them almost. 00:09:27.659 --> 00:09:30.460 This is a very small-scale example of what is going on. 00:09:30.460 --> 00:09:35.500 You can see this principle when a 16-year-old teenage girl meets Taylor Swift. 00:09:36.519 --> 00:09:37.399 What do they say? 00:09:37.819 --> 00:09:38.919 They say, oh, my God. 00:09:39.639 --> 00:09:40.419 Oh, my God. 00:09:40.539 --> 00:09:42.019 Because to them, it sort of is. 00:09:42.480 --> 00:09:43.600 Almost like a God. 00:09:43.840 --> 00:09:46.480 A person who is perfect in every aspect. 00:09:46.960
