he says a relationship with God. 00:04:10.379 --> 00:04:12.400 But they're the same thing. 00:04:13.599 --> 00:04:16.500 And we realize this kingdom is happening right now. 00:04:16.579 --> things. 00:05:06.279 --> 00:05:07.480 Crazy man things, right? 00:05:07.639 --> 00:05:11.819 They do things that if you don't know what's going on and you look at them, you're saying, that guy's a then we see that when the third thing is that the kingdom of God, or when we get it, when we get the treasure, 00:05:26.899 --> 00:05:32.420 or maybe I should say when the treasure or the kingdom gets It's the land bridge. 00:06:46.819 --> 00:06:51.540 And so when people are there and they have a treasure, they don't take it to a bank. 00:06:51.960 --> 00:06:56.019 I mean, there weren't banks in Jesus' day, but they wouldn't take it to a bank because banks weren't safe, 00:06:56.019 --> 00:06:58.859 because they would just get rolled over by the army coming through the next week. 00:06:59.659 --> 00:07:03.839 And so Josephus, who's a Jewish historian who was captured by the Romans, 00:07:04.299 --> 00:07:06.719 he's given us a lot of insight into life back then. 00:07:06.959 --> 00:07:10.199 And he basically says that people, what they would normally do is they would bury treasure in their house. 00:07:11.039 --> 00:07:13.639 They'd bury it in the wall of their house or in the floor of their house. 00:07:14.139 --> 00:07:19.879 But if they were in a war-ravaged area, that would be impractical because houses were always raised, 00:07:19.879 --> 00:07:22.000 and people would always break down the walls looking for them. 00:07:22.399 --> 00:07:25.920 And so the best thing that people would do is they would hide these treasures in a field. 00:07:27.879 --> 00:07:30.540 Usually they would hide them in two places, he said, if they were really smart. 00:07:31.100 --> 00:07:34.079 Because fields were massive, people didn't have time to go through those. 00:07:34.100 --> 00:07:38.259 And what happened is armies came, and armies went, and people died, and treasures were buried, 00:07:38.339 --> 00:07:41.459 and people were taken away in captivity, and people forgot where the treasures were. 00:07:42.939 --> 00:07:44.579 And so there was treasures everywhere. 00:07:44.579 --> 00:07:51.120 In verse 45, he says, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls. 00:07:51.939 --> 00:07:54.740 But the word he actually uses for merchant is wholesaler. 00:07:55.719 --> 00:07:57.560 That this person is a bargain seeker. 00:07:57.680 --> 00:07:58.879 He's looking for things. 00:07:58.939 --> 00:08:00.279 We know that he's incredibly wealthy. 00:08:01.099 --> 00:08:05.959 Because to be a pearl merchant in Jesus' day, it was one of
