with us, whose likeness we bear as fruit, who gifts us as 00:00:53.280 --> 00:01:01.120 the gifts we need for service, and the one who we can grieve. 00:01:01.120 --> 00:01:04.120 So we've seen that however you feel like in your Christian life, however maybe complete you feel, maybe 00:04:15.280 --> 00:04:16.800 you don't feel very complete. 00:04:16.800 --> 00:04:19.759 He's saying, look, I'm --> 00:04:46.000 His Spirit who dwells in you. 00:04:46.000 --> 00:04:50.120 And he's reminding us that this resurrection power that brought Jesus from the dead is the 00:04:50.120 --> 00:04:54.080 power that will raise our bodies on that last day to be with Him in glory. 00:04:54.080 --> 00:04:56.540 He's going to make us perfect. 00:04:56.540 --> 00:05:05.680 So having already been especially committed to humanity as a whole, and then to the redeemed 00:05:05.680 --> 00:05:12.560 humanity, even from the beginning, he is a task to complete, which is to make us perfect. 00:05:12.560 --> And it reminds us, as we sit here this evening, that verse 11 of the importance of the resurrection 00:05:30.639 --> 00:05:39.319 of Jesus Christ, because it's the guarantee of this not yet, this work that Jesus still 00:05:39.319 --> 00:05:42.360 has to do in our bodies and in our life. 00:05:42.360 --> 00:05:50.000 And that we have this great participation to look forward to in the divine nature. 00:05:50.000 --> 00:05:55.479 Second Peter 1, through these great promises, he's given us this very great and precious 00:05:55.479 --> 00:06:00.599 promise so that through them you might participate in the divine nature, having escaped the coming 00:06:00.600 --> 00:06:03.480 corruption of the world caused by evil desires. 00:06:03.480 --> 00:06:07.960 And we've got this great hope and this great narrative. 00:08:07.480 --> 00:08:13.040 This life is just what sex has seen for that incredible and great and strong future that 00:08:13.040 --> 00:08:18.720 we have, hard to imagine when we think --> 00:08:56.479 Lord, who is the Spirit. 00:08:56.479 --> 00:09:03.959 So there's this unfinished work that He promises that He will finish. 00:09:03.960 --> 00:09:10.160 We grasp that we have a glory in us that has yet to be revealed. 00:09:10.160 --> 00:09:15.440 Sometimes doesn't look like it in our lives, but we believe it by faith, that there is 00:09:15.440 --> 00:09:19.040 a glory that will be revealed in our lives. 00:09:19.040 --> 00:09:26.759 Our resurrected bodies will be the Holy Spirit's completed work of divine genius. 00:09:26.759 --> 00:09:34.960 His great creative work will be completed in our resurrected bodies. 00:09:34.960 --> 00:09:41.319 And a remarkable truth is that creation itself longs to see that day. 00:09:41.319 --> 00:09:45.600 We read that in the passage in Romans chapter 8. 00:09:45.600 --> 00:09:50.759 The creation is longing for that revelation and that great day. 00:09:50.759 --> 00:09:57.919 And it will share in what we can call true freedom day. 00:09:57.919 --> 00:10:03.639 Verse 21, we are told that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption 00:10:03.639 --> 00:10:07.159 and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 00:10:07.159 --> 00:10:13.399 So we have this great partnership that we look forward to with creation, who will all 00:10:13.399 --> 00:10:20.720 celebrate together the freedom of the finished work of the Holy Spirit. 00:10:20.720 --> 00:10:21.720 And that's a hope. 00:10:21.720 --> 00:10:23.680 It's not a vague hope. 00:10:23.680 --> 00:10:26.279 It's not a pie in the sky hope. 00:10:26.279 --> 00:10:31.560 It is based on the resurrection of Jesus. 00:10:31.560 --> 00:10:34.040 And but yet, you know, the Bible is not unrealistic. 00:10:34.040 --> 00:10:37.920 It knows that as we wait for that great day, we struggle with birth pains. 00:10:37.920 --> 00:10:42.399 It talks about that in verse 22. 00:10:42.399 --> 00:10:48.080 For we know that the whole 00:11:25.199 But I'm sure that a labor pain for an expectant mother, anticipating mother is made more bearable 00:11:25.199 --> 00:11:33.719 by the anticipation of the life that is to come in childbirth. 00:11:33.719 --> 00:11:39.079 That may be part of the reason why they can endure such pain. 00:11:39.080 --> 00:11:47.280 And surely that picture speaks to us in the battles and struggles and pains of our lives 00:11:47.280 --> 00:11:55.320 if there is an anticipation and a hope of release and freedom and a future that is entirely 00:11:55.320 --> 00:11:59.840 different and entirely glorious. 00:11:59.840 --> 00:12:08.080 And in that struggle and battle which we face, who is it that helps us on a day to day basis? 00:12:08.080 --> 00:12:15.840 Verse 26, likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weakness for we do not know what to pray 00:12:15.840 --> 00:12:22.440 for as we ought, but the Spirit intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 00:12:22.440 --> 00:12:29.280 So God's Spirit helps us as the creation groans and as we don't know what to pray for, the 00:12:29.280 --> 00:12:37.960 Spirit intercedes on our behalf and He incarnates our struggles and groans before
