00:03:58.020 And he has wept over Jerusalem. 00:03:58.219 --> 00:03:59.199 Lamented over them. 00:03:59.420 --> 00:04:02.140 Because they did not recognize the time of their visitation. 00:04:02.139 --> 00:04:10.619 And then at the beginning of chapter 24, Jesus says, you see all these things, do you not? 00:04:10.699 --> 00:04:12.439 He's pointing to the temple complex. 00:04:13.239 --> 00:04:19.360 Truly I say to you, there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down. 00:04:19.360 --> 00:04:25.000 And then in verse 3 of chapter 24, the disciples like, tell us when will these things be? 00:04:25.219 --> 00:04:28.519 And what will be the sign of your coming in of the end of the age? 00:04:28.539 --> 00:04:31.939 And Jesus answers that question specifically in 29 and 30. 00:04:32.139 --> 00:04:36.199 But then he tells us what's going to happen before that. 00:04:39.259 --> 00:04:45.800 And so before his coming, we learn that there will be of the birth pains, Jesus says. 00:05:00.420 --> 00:05:02.780 The birth pains to his second coming. 00:05:05.140 --> 00:05:10.360 In verses 9 through 14, he speaks of suffering for his sake. 00:05:12.819 --> 00:05:19.960 In verse 13, 12 and 13, he talks about some because of the suffering will fall away, 00:05:20.100 --> 00:05:23.879 but those who persevere to the end will be saved. 00:05:23.879 --> 00:05:33.000 In 15 through 20, he talks about the abomination of desolation, which I believe has already taken place. 00:05:33.139 --> 00:05:37.339 And then in verses 21 through 22, he starts talking about this great tribulation. 00:05:37.579 --> 00:05:43.459 Some theologians think that is the entirety of the church age from Jesus' ascension to his return. 00:05:43.459 --> 00:05:54.500 Others think that that is a concentrated, unique moment right before Jesus' return when there is unusual suffering among God's saints. 00:05:55.339 --> 00:05:58.079 I think it is a combination of both. 00:05:58.079 --> 00:06:04.639 And it is in verse 29 that Jesus pivots. 00:06:06.719 --> 00:06:07.779 And he says this. 00:06:08.479 --> 00:06:13.699 Immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light. 00:06:13.800 --> 00:06:17.319 And the stars will fall from heaven and the powers of the heavens will be eye will see him. 00:07:45.879 --> 00:07:47.219 Every eye will see him. 00:07:48.519 --> 00:07:53.579 In other words, Jesus' first coming, his first advent was kind of limited visibility. 00:07:54.259 --> 00:07:59.920 But his second advent, when he comes back, everybody on the planet will see him simultaneously. 00:08:01.060 --> 00:08:04.959 Whether that's 8 million people, plus or minus.
