you could say, something in common. 00:05:23.920 --> 00:05:29.079 They are separated by probably nearly a thousand years in terms of a period of time. 00:05:29.079 --> 00:05:32.479 They are separated by a great number of years, 00:05:32.680 --> 00:05:37.359 and a lot of takes place in between the two occasions that we are looking at here. 00:05:37.779 --> 00:05:40.719 But you see that they have something in common. 00:05:41.199 --> 00:05:44.479 When you read in Chronicles there, 00:05:44.539 --> 00:05:46.860 we are reading about Asa and his reign. 00:05:47.879 --> 00:05:51.019 It was a time of great struggle for the people. 00:05:51.180 --> 00:05:53.279 You see that in the verses that we read there, 00:05:53.279 --> 00:05:56.839 how there was many who were turning away from God, 00:05:56.899 --> 00:05:58.759 who were rejecting God. 00:05:59.459 --> 00:06:03.539 And the same could be true in the days of the church in Corinth. 00:06:04.439 --> 00:06:08.559 A difficult time, a place that was corrupt in so many different ways, 00:06:08.699 --> 00:06:10.139 idols all around them, 00:06:10.579 --> 00:06:13.099 people turning away and rejecting God, 00:06:13.500 --> 00:06:15.419 God's people discouraged, 00:06:15.419 --> 00:06:18.579 God being neglected and rejected by many. 00:06:18.659 --> 00:06:21.579 You could say, well, that's what they have in common, 00:06:21.579 --> 00:06:25.159 that there's so much to be fearful about, 00:06:25.259 --> 00:06:27.560 so much to be concerned about. 00:06:28.399 --> 00:06:30.839 But that's not what I want to think about what they have in common. 00:06:31.240 --> 00:06:33.659 I want us to stand and look on something very positive 00:06:33.659 --> 00:06:35.800 that they both have in common. 00:06:36.699 --> 00:06:39.279 In 2 Chronicles 15, verse 7, 00:06:39.519 --> 00:06:42.240 as Asa has spoken to, 00:06:42.419 --> 00:06:43.000 it says here, 00:06:43.000 --> 00:06:44.479 But you take courage. 00:06:45.620 --> 00:06:47.779 Do not let your hands be weak, 00:06:48.120 --> 00:06:50.620 for your work shall be rewarded. 00:06:51.579 --> 00:06:55.379 Asa is being told that as you are faithful to God, 00:06:55.419 --> 00:06:58.099 as you seek Him, as it says in that passage, 00:06:58.359 --> 00:06:59.779 you will find Him. 00:07:00.439 --> 00:07:01.459 He will be with you. 00:07:02.139 --> 00:07:03.459 And he is being told, 00:07:03.599 --> 00:07:05.740 Do not let your hands be weak, 00:07:06.339 --> 00:07:08.699 for your work shall be rewarded. 00:07:09.659 --> 00:07:12.279 And then you look at 1 Corinthians 15, 00:07:12.279 --> 00:07:14.639 and this verse that we're going to focus on, 00:07:15.059 --> 00:07:15.839 verse 58, 00:07:15.839 --> 00:07:17.639 Therefore, my beloved brothers, 00:07:18.259 --> 00:07:20.239 be steadfast, immovable, 00:07:20.459 --> 00:07:22.959 always abounding in the work of the Lord, 00:07:23.079 --> 00:07:26.659 knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. 00:07:27.379 --> 00:07:29.559 So there's a sense of, again, 00:07:30.219 --> 00:07:31.359 take courage, 00:07:31.919 --> 00:07:32.879 don't be weak, 00:07:33.259 --> 00:07:34.579 verse 58. 00:07:59.500 --> 00:08:02.660 I just wanted to take out of this verse this evening. 00:08:03.640 --> 00:08:07.540 And the first is that sense of standing strong, 00:08:07.680 --> work of the Lord. 00:08:19.439 --> 00:08:22.240 And then the third thing is going on in faith, 00:08:22.379 --> 00:08:23.740 keeping the faith, 00:08:23.740 --> 00:08:28.400 knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. 00:08:28.540 --> 00:08:31.920 So the first thing we see here is standing strong. 00:08:32.820 --> 00:08:34.680 You see there at the beginning of the verse, 00:08:34.799 -->
