00:05:54.800 But before I do that, I want to think about Matthew chapter 25. 00:05:54.800 --> 00:06:04.960 This is a chapter that contains a number of parables where Jesus is trying to teach us spiritual lessons, 00:06:05.120 --> 00:06:06.900 lessons about the kingdom of God. 00:06:07.460 --> 00:06:13.980 And Matthew chapter 25, the story part of it is about a rich man who is going on a journey. 00:06:14.240 --> 00:06:16.199 He's going away for a period of time. 00:06:16.199 --> 00:06:22.019 And he needs someone to look after his business and his affairs. 00:06:22.479 --> 00:06:31.839 So he puts his business in the hands of three of his servants, three people who are his employees. 00:06:32.259 --> 00:06:37.659 There is going to be the caretakers of the master's property and the master's affairs. 00:06:37.660 --> 00:06:46.580 He gives one of these servants five talents, which is probably a significant amount of money, 00:06:46.700 --> 00:06:53.879 maybe gold, and places his finances in the hands of one of those servants, five talents. 00:06:54.000 --> 00:07:00.060 To the other, he gives two talents, again, a significant amount of money, perhaps gold. remind us that there are only two kinds of people. 00:09:16.000 --> 00:09:22.519 There are people that God has given things to and they use them for his glory. 00:09:22.519 --> 00:09:29.939 And there are those that are given things by God and do not use them and do nothing with them. 00:09:29.940 --> 00:09:34.300 And when the Lord comes back, they will be empty handed. 00:09:36.820 --> And as we think about that parable, probably a very well-known passage in the Bible, 00:10:16.380 --> 00:10:20.640 I want to apply it to a number of areas of our lives. 00:10:20.639 --> 00:10:25.179 I want to apply it, first of all, to the area of time. 00:10:26.759 --> 00:10:31.500 How much time does God place in our hands? 00:10:32.620 --> 00:10:38.539 He doesn't give some people five talents, 24 mean by time. 00:10:45.779 --> 00:10:50.139 Every one of us has the same number of hours in the day. 00:10:50.639 --> 00:10:56.559 But when I say that God gives us different talents of time, 00:10:56.720 --> 00:10:59.620 what I mean by that is not hours, but seasons. 00:11:01.439 --> 00:11:05.080 The passage, I think, is here to remind us, 00:11:05.279 --> 00:11:10.039 make the most of your time in this world. 00:11:10.039 --> 00:11:16.879 God has given each of us periods or seasons of time. 00:11:17.579 --> 00:11:24.339 And the important thing is that we use those seasons for the glory of God. 00:11:25.939 --> 00:11:30.279 Now, although we all have the same number of hours in the day, 00:11:30.279 --> 00:11:36.799 not everyone has the same length of time or the same number of
