[0:00] Oh, sorry, did Russ grab that? Yeah, the other Russ. Sorry, I didn't even see it. Forgive me.
[0:12] Samuel, you don't have to grab the water. All right, let's get into the Word of God this morning. We're in Matthew chapter 19. Do a quick review of two Sundays ago.
[0:30] It's great to see Lisa and Faith back with us.
[0:45] Huh, what? Who? All right, Matthew 19. We'll pick it up in verse 16.
[0:57] And just, we're kind of in the middle of this. Spent most of the Sunday on this last time. This guy gets the term, the rich young ruler.
[1:10] So verse 16 says, Behold, one came and said unto him, Good master, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good?
[1:21] There's none good but one, that is God. But if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honor thy father and thy mother, And thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
[1:39] The young man saith unto him, All these have I kept from my youth up. What lack I yet? And Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, Go and sell that thou hast, And give to the poor, And thou shalt have treasure in heaven, And come and follow me.
[1:54] But when the young man heard that saying, He went away sorrowful, For he had great possessions. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
[2:06] And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, Than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. When his disciples heard it, They were exceedingly amazed, Saying, Who then can be saved?
[2:19] But Jesus beheld them, And said unto them, With men this is impossible, But with God all things are possible. Let's pray, And then we'll get back into the word of God. Father, this morning we're thankful for the Lord Jesus Christ, For enabling us to come before you, To have access to you by your spirit, And forgiveness of sins through your blood.
[2:39] And Father, As we open up this precious and holy book, Help us to understand it, And to rightly divide it, And Lord just help us to make good sense of these teachings, And passages, And know where they apply, And to get what we can.
[2:53] And God, I pray that we'd believe these words, And that we'd realize how accurate and true they are, And how you've taken great pains, To give them to us, And Lord may we not despise them, And may we hold them dear to us, We pray this in Christ's name, Amen.
[3:10] Amen. So this guy has a dilemma, The dilemma is he's loaded, He's got money, And he's a good man, He's a moral man, He's, As he says, I've kept all these from my youth up, He's keeping the law, He's obeying the light that he has, And he comes to Jesus Christ, Looking for something he can do, To inherit, Or to enter into life, To have eternal life, And Christ gives them the commandments, And now I commented last time, How all the fundamentalists, Will try to twist this passage, Because they don't know how to handle it, And they want to make it say, Something has to be the gospel, Has to in their mind, And of course it doesn't, And Christ isn't dealing with the gospel, Of the death, burial, and resurrection, At all, And so he tells them, To keep the commandments, That's exactly what he should be doing, And that's what I showed you, In Luke chapter one, Before John the Baptist showed up, His parents, They were righteous, Before the Lord, Doing what?
[4:07] Keeping the commandments of God, And the ordinances of the Lord, Blamelessly, And so that's the setting, That's the era that you're in, And that's the way God's dealing with men, And so that's what Christ sends him to, And he's not trying to, I really drew this out last time, And he's not trying to say, Oh, you have to, Deal with this one sin of yours, This love for your money, And until then, You can't get saved, That's the way people teach it today, But if that's the truth, Then what Jesus Christ did, Was a man came to him, Now again, If that's true, Which it's not, A man came to him, Seeking eternal life, And Christ never one time, Gave him the gospel, And instead he just, As they suppose, He said, You've got a sin that's too big, That you won't let go of, So you can't be saved, It's kind of how you have to read it, If you're going to believe, The way men try to twist it today, To make it fit today's gospel, And that's not the case, And so anyway, Let's move into this passage,
[5:08] We got into, Down around verse 22, 23, And there, When the young man, Went away sorrowful, For he had great possessions, So Christ says, Give that away, Come and follow me, That's the same thing, He told his disciples, And you know what they did, Well maybe they weren't quite as loaded, But nevertheless, They forsook all, And followed him, They forsook their families, They forsook, I say families, Like the boys forsook their father, And his business, I'm not saying they, Left their kids to starve, But they walked away, From their homes, From their trades, Their jobs, And they went, And they followed Jesus Christ, Like he called them to, And that's what he's calling this man to, The stakes might feel a little higher, To him, Because he might have more money, But the calling is the same, And whether you have little or much, That's not the question, And that's not really an issue at all, It's whether you're going to be obedient, To the Lord Jesus Christ, When he calls, When God deals with your heart about something, Are you going to sit now,
[6:09] And start weighing, What's this going to take for me, Oh it's easy for them to obey, Because they don't have, That God's going to deal with a man, According to his heart, And nobody has any excuses, This young man here, Rich or poor, He doesn't have any excuses, And so he went away sorrowful, He had great possessions, And now Christ makes the comment, We're in verse 23, Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man, Shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven, Did he say it's impossible there?
[6:40] No, But he said hardly, Now the reason I point this out, Is because when I was, An apprentice, In the sprinkler business, The fire protection business, I had a foreman, Who was training me, And he was a guy that is, He was getting close to retiring, He's been all over the trade, Knows everything, He's a really nice guy, And we really, Really got along well, And he liked me a lot, And he was kind to me, He wasn't a jerk, Like some of the other, Pipe fitters were, You know, Just treating the apprentice, Like trash, He was really a good guy, And he was trying to bring me along, And so we had a great relationship, And as a young man, There was a time, I mean I was, I was a mess, In and out of fellowship with God, And you know, Get right, And then fall back into sin, And, But at this time, I was right with the Lord, I was in the word of God, I was, The Bible was right there, In the truck with me, And he and I were, We pulled up to this job, It was in Maryland, And I remember we were sitting there, Waiting, And,
[7:41] I think we were, We had to call the alarms out, And we were waiting for all that to get cleared, Before we could go in, And start working on this system, It was a live system, And anyway, Sorry, He, He's sitting there in the truck with me, And we're talking, And we get talking, And I started, I try to take some shots, To, You know, Get the conversation going toward Christ, And inviting him out to church, And he, He just stopped me dead in my tracks, And he said, I can't have anything to do with that, I've already decided, I don't want anything to do with it, And he was so set, In his ways about it, He'd already decided, Not listening to the church talk, Not listening to the Jesus talk, Not listening to the, Get saved and go to heaven, And he's, He threw out the words to me, He'd heard it before, And so I was like, Why?
[8:27] Why are you so hard? And this is why, Because Jesus said, That a rich man can't get into heaven, And I'm like, Why is that a problem? You're not rich, You're not even close to rich, Why is that such a hang up?
[8:42] And I said, By the way, That's not even what he's talking about, And he's like, Nope, I don't want to hear it, That's not a just God, That was his take, That's not right, Because, If God loves everybody, And if Jesus died for everybody, Then why would he say, That rich people can't have it?
[9:01] That was a major hang, That was a legitimate hang up, For this man, And he was done, He cut me off, He wouldn't listen to a word, I tried to explain, I was like, That's not what Jesus is talking about at all, And I, I really at the time, Couldn't expound this passage, In deep detail by any means, But I could at least say, I know for a fact, He didn't say a rich man can't get saved, Or be, But it says how hardly, Shall, The rich man shall hardly enter, Into the kingdom of heaven, And then he goes on to verse 24, And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel, To go through the eye of a needle, Than for a rich man to enter, Into the kingdom of God, Now you probably, I don't know if you've heard it, But it's a ridiculous statement, Where, Where, Men want to so badly, Find a way to reason, And to get around, What the scripture just say, In plain English, That they come up with this, Well, Back in those days, In the city of Jerusalem, There were these entrances into the, There were holes in the walls,
[10:01] That were low, And they called those, The eye of a needle, And a camel would have to, To get through that, He'd have to get down, On all of his knees, And scoot, I was like, Have you ever seen a camel, Get down on all fours, And scoot through a, A hole in the wall, Is that really what Jesus Christ, Is teaching his disciples, About rich men, That they have to humble themselves, What a, I'm sorry, It's just a stupid take, Trying to find a way, You know what, That's not right, Because for a camel, A literal camel, To go through a literal, Eye of a needle, That's impossible, And that's what he says, In verse 26, With men this is impossible, And that was a statement, Otherwise it doesn't work, Because with men, It is possible, For a camel to go through, What they supposedly call, The eye of a needle, If you haven't ever heard that before, You can look it up, It's not really worth looking up, But it's just some foolish take, On the scriptures, Of teaching that's what Christ, Was talking about, When he wasn't, He's talking about a rich man, Having problems, And not willing to, Give him up,
[11:03] To get into the kingdom of heaven, Now notice also, Verse 23 he says, He ends the statement by saying, Shall hardly enter into, The kingdom of heaven, That in verse 24, A rich man to enter into, The kingdom of God, As you catch that, That switch of words there, As we read it through, Don't let that be confusing to you, This is why so many think, Well these terms are interchangeable, Jesus Christ just interchanged, Kingdom of heaven, Kingdom of God, And it must be the same thing, And they're not the same thing, We studied that out, At the beginning of this study of Matthew, And I don't really want to take the time, To rehash all of that, But the kingdom of heaven, Is a literal physical kingdom, Kingdom of heaven, Where God comes to earth, And reigns over the earth, On the earth, And that's all through the prophets, Of this promise, That God's going to do that, And the world is going to change, From darkness to light, In that day, The kingdom of God, Is a spiritual kingdom, Paul says, The kingdom of God, Is righteousness, Peace and joy,
[12:03] In the Holy Ghost, The kingdom of God, Is within you, Jesus Christ said, In Luke, And he also said, The kingdom of God, Cometh not with observation, So it's not something, That's physical, That you can see, It's spiritual, It's invisible, And the reason, These terms can be, Used together, Not interchanged, But used together, Is because, In the person of Jesus Christ, Both kingdoms are present, The physical king of the Jews, Is standing right there, The kingdom of heaven, Is at hand, Because the king is here, Secondly, The spiritual kingdom of God, Is present, In the Lord Jesus Christ, He that believes on him, Hath everlasting life, So the Lord Jesus Christ, In that, In his presence, I should say, Or his presence, Both kingdoms are evident, And available, And when he leaves, I wish I had the projector here, I could have set that slide up,
[13:05] I made a chart to show you, That when Christ came, The kingdom of heaven, Was present, And when Christ came, The kingdom of God, Was present, Both kingdoms present, In the person, But when Christ leaves, And he's rejected, As their king, The kingdom of heaven is gone, But the kingdom of God, Remains on the earth, Through the person of the Holy Spirit, And through God dwelling, Inside of men, By his spirit, And it remains all the way through, Till Christ comes back, And the kingdom of heaven is present again, In the person of Jesus Christ, And so, When he makes references, To the kingdom of heaven, Or the kingdom of God, Or when some, Gospel writers mention, The kingdom of God, And others mention, Kingdom of heaven, It's not a contradiction, And they're not, Interchangeable terms, But often, They're referring to the same event, In most cases, Of the future, When Christ returns, And there's the kingdom of heaven, Or also the kingdom of God, Present, In the future, They're both present here, In Jesus Christ, And what he's,
[14:05] Discussing with them, It is the kingdom of heaven, It is the kingdom of God, All at the same time, In one, And it will be, Today, Only the kingdom of God, Is present, All right, I hope that's something you understand, I know it's hard to just, Hear me say it, It's better to visualize it, But let's get back to verse 23, Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter, Into the kingdom of God, The kingdom of heaven, And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel, To go through the eye of a needle, Than for a rich man, To enter into the kingdom of God, When his disciples heard it, They were exceedingly amazed, Saying, Who then can be saved?
[14:42] This is sounding like, It's impossible, For a, Because of the camel, And the eye of the needle, And well, Who's this going to be good for? They're not asking for themselves, Can we? They're like, Well then who out there, Can get in on this?
[14:55] And Christ beheld them, And said unto them, With men this is impossible, But with God, All things are possible, So the eye of the needle thing, Is possible, If it was the gate of the city, Kind of teaching, But it's impossible, Is what Christ said there, And it is possible, For a rich man to be saved, With God, In verse 26, Moving forward, Verse 27, Based on this teaching, And this statement, Then Peter said unto him, Behold, We have forsaken all, And followed thee, What shall we have therefore?
[15:34] That's a legitimate question, It sounds selfish, It sounds like he just wants something, That's not the case though, He's looking at this rich man, This young man, Powerful man no doubt, Walking away, From what they have signed on to, Following Jesus Christ, Being a disciple, He was invited, To follow Jesus Christ, And he rejected it, And Peter watched him, The others watched him, Walk away, And he's like, Well, We left everything, And we followed you, So, What are we going to get for it?
[16:04] Because we don't have anything, What are we going to get? It's actually a legitimate question, That gets an immediate answer, Christ does not rebuke Peter, He rebuked him earlier, And a few chapters ago, When he said that, This shall not be unto thee, Like you're not going to die, And be buried and raised again, That was a problem, But this isn't a problem at all for Christ, He answers him right away, Verse 28, Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, In the regeneration, When the Son of Man shall sit in the throne of his glory, Ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, Judging the twelve tribes of Israel, And everyone that hath forsaken houses, Or brethren, Or sisters, Or father, Or mother, Or wife, Or children, Or lands, For my name's sake, Shall receive an hundredfold, And shall inherit everlasting life, A couple things here, There's actually a lot here, Ye which have followed me, What are we going to have?
[17:03] Well, Here's what you're going to get, In the regeneration, When the Son of Man shall sit in the throne of his glory, So that's not tomorrow, That's going out there into the future, And it didn't have to go super far into the future, But as we see it now, Looking back over history, It's been a while, They didn't get it in their lifetime, Did they?
[17:23] But they're going to get it, And that's something you can count on, When God makes a promise, That he's going to give you something, He promises, Or pledges something to you, Doesn't mean it's going to come tomorrow, It doesn't mean you're going to get it in your hands, Before your bills are due, But it does mean, That it's going to come, And these guys are going to realize, What Jesus Christ said it will happen, When?
[17:44] Well, In the regeneration, When is that? When the Son of Man, That's the second coming of Christ, When he's coming back, To sit in the throne of his glory, Alright, Well, Let's understand that, Look at Luke chapter 1, Actually, Stop at Matthew 25, Look at chapter 25, Of Matthew, And then we'll go to Luke 1, Matthew 25, And this whole chapter, Is about the second coming of Christ, To the earth, After the tribulation, And in verse 31, Matthew 25, Matthew 25, Matthew 31, When the Son of Man, Shall come in his glory, That's not the rapture, For the church, That's a mystery, That's not even brought up, Or mentioned yet, Not until several books later, With the apostle Paul,
[18:45] So the Jews are looking, For their king to come, And that's what this is, Verse 31, When the Son of Man, Shall come in his glory, And all the holy angels, With him, Then, Shall he sit, Upon the throne, Of his glory, And it goes on, To discuss, Him gathering nations, Notice in verse 34, The king said to them, On his right hand, Come ye blessed of my father, Inherit the kingdom, So there's no question, Of the timing of that, And so when Jesus Christ, Answers these men, Come to Luke chapter 1, When they're going to get, To be rewarded, For their, Following him, And forsaking all, It's, It's in the kingdom, Which is what this whole book's about, Luke chapter 1, And verse 31, This is the angel telling Mary, She's going to have a son, Luke 1, 31, And behold, Thou shalt conceive in thy womb, And bring forth a son,
[19:45] And shalt call his name Jesus, He shall be great, And shall be called, The son of the highest, And the Lord God, Shall give unto him, The throne, Of his father, Who?
[20:01] David, That's a literal throne, For an earthly nation, Verse 33, And he shall reign, Over the house of Jacob, Forever, And of his kingdom, There shall be no end, Now I emphasize this, Because the Jehovah's Witnesses, Have taught for years, That Jesus Christ, Has taken over the throne, In the heavens, And that in, I forget the date off the top of my head, 1929, Or something like that, That Christ has, Has made his move, To receive the throne, And the kingdom, And has fulfilled scripture, Spiritually applied, Of course, And has, He's sitting on the throne, Reigning, And now they are down here, Spreading the kingdom, The good news of the kingdom, It's a false teaching, It's inaccurate, And the Bible teaches, That Christ is coming to earth, To sit on a literal throne, Reigning over a literal people, Which is going to, Encompass the entire globe,
[21:02] All right, Now back to Matthew 20, Or Matthew 19, When are they going to receive their reward?
[21:14] In the future, He calls it the regeneration, What an interesting term, In the regeneration, Doesn't that word, Just give a little light to, I mean, It makes an easy connection, In the Bible, He didn't just say, In the future, He said, In the regeneration, What does that word mean?
[21:31] It means a recreation, Or rebirth, You know the word generate, As in, In regards to plant life, Or seeds, When a seed is, When it gets the right elements, And water, It comes to life, There's generation, They call it, And the earth is going to be, Regenerated, Or come back to life, And you say, Well I think it's beautiful, I think it, I think Southern California, Has the best flowers, And things, You ain't seen nothing yet, You've not even been close, To what you're going to see, In the regeneration, But now, Think more specifically, About the nation of Israel, Come back to Isaiah 35, We ran these references, On a Wednesday night, Or several Wednesdays, We did a study, On the, What God's going to do with Israel, And their fullness, As Paul calls it, And we'll just look at a verse, Or two here, Some prophecies, Of what's going to take place, In that land,
[22:33] Isaiah 35, And this is going to, Be when the curse, That God pronounced, On the earth, From way back in Genesis 3, Is rescinded, And the, Instead of coming up, The thorns, And the thistles, And all the sweat, And the labor, And the brow, You know, Sweat of the brow, All of that's going to, Just kind of, Disappear for something better, Verse number one, The wilderness, And the solitary place, Like nobody dwells there, Shall be glad for them, And the desert shall rejoice, And blossom, As the rose, It shall blossom abundantly, And rejoice, Even with joy, And singing, Look at verse six, And seven, The lame man, Then shall the lame man, Leap, As the heart, And the tongue of the dumb sing, For in the wilderness, Shall waters break out, And streams in the desert, The parched ground, Shall become a pool, That's literal, That's not some spiritual reference, To Israel getting people,
[23:34] In their land, Or healthy, No that's the land, The ground, The thirsty land, Springs of water, The habitation of dragons, Where each lay, Shall be grass, And reeds, And rushes, And so forth, And there's so much, In this passage, And in Isaiah, To talk about that future, Regeneration, The planet, Coming back to life, Look at chapter 55, And verse 13, Isaiah 55, Verse 13, In the restoration, Of Israel, And of their kingdom, And Christ coming back to earth, Remember he's not going to dwell, On a cursed planet, Isaiah 55, Verse 13, Instead of the thorn, Shall come up the fir tree, And instead of the briar, Shall come up the myrtle tree, And it shall be to the Lord, For a name, For an everlasting sign, That shall not be cut off, Now there's a few more terms, I want you to be familiar with, Come to Acts chapter 3, This is the regeneration,
[24:36] As Christ calls it, In the regeneration, When the son of man, Shall sit in the throne, Of his glory, This planet's going to change, Acts chapter 3, This is Peter, This is Peter, Preaching to the Jews, He's preaching about, What they need to do, Because they've crucified their king, The prince of life, And they desired, A murderer, Instead, In verse 14, And so, Christ is raised again, As he's preaching in his message, Come down to verse number 19, He says, Repent ye therefore, And be converted, That your sins may be blotted out, When the, Here's his words, When the times of refreshing, Shall come from the presence, Of the Lord, The times of refreshing, Shall come from the presence of the Lord, And he shall send Jesus Christ, Which before was preached unto you,
[25:38] Whom the heaven must receive, Until the times of restitution, Of all things, Which God hath spoken, By the mouth of all his holy prophets, And we just read a little bit of that, So there's no doubt, That these guys know, When this stuff's going to take place, The timing of it all, It's when Christ comes back to earth, And restores, The times of restitution, Of all things, He restores all things, To their original way, It's called the times of refreshing, Christ calls it the regeneration, So it's going to be the rebirth of earth, It's a recreation, Now one more spot, Come to Titus chapter 3, On this word regeneration, Titus, Chapter number 3, This word shows up two times, In your King James Bible, And only two times, The first time we see it plainly, It's a reference to the earth,
[26:38] It's a physical reference, To the earth being reborn, And coming into life, When Jesus Christ returns, All right, Now, There's another reference, And this time, Much like the kingdom of heaven, And the kingdom of God, This second reference, Is a spiritual reference, Titus chapter 3, Look at verse number 5, Not by works of righteousness, Which we have done, But according to his mercy, He saved us, By the washing, Of regeneration, And renewing, Of the Holy Ghost, Which he shed on us abundantly, Through Jesus Christ, Our Savior, That being justified, By his grace, We should be made heirs, According to the hope, Of eternal life, So when a lost man, Receives Jesus Christ, Not by his works, But according to the mercy, Of God, The word regeneration, Comes into play, And it's a spiritual thing,
[27:39] The Holy Ghost, Is doing the action, In verse number 5, And it's all about being saved, And about being reborn, Or we call it the new birth, So Christ says to Nicodemus, In John 3, He must be born again, That's a rebirth, That's regeneration, I don't want to take the time, To run through this stuff, But it's really just, Trying to make the comment there, Rather than teach it, Paul describes in Romans 7, That you're, That he was alive, He was alive, Once, Without the law, When he was young, Before he knew, Before knowledge of sin was there, Knowledge of good and evil, But he said, When he got to know it, He died, Sin revived, He said, I died, But then he can be reborn, Or made alive again, Regenerated in Christ, By the Holy Ghost, And so that's the teaching, Of that word, In Matthew, It's a physical reference, To the earth, To the planet, The dirt,
[28:40] In Titus, It's a spiritual reference, To your soul, To life, Being put into your soul, Because you were dead, Paul said, In your trespasses and sins, Alright, Come back to Matthew, And chapter number 19, And we're in verse 28, And so there we have, The regeneration, We have the reference, And the timing of it, When they'll be rewarded, And then it says, They're going to be judging, The twelve tribes of Israel, Sitting upon twelve thrones, Now Judas, He, He hangs himself, And he's somebody else, In scripture, That's not going to be sitting, On that kind of throne, He's going to come back, And have a seat, For a time, And get kicked off, Of that seat, But these men, Get the throne, There's somebody that replaces him, In Acts chapter 1, Named Matthias, And seems likely, That he'll be, Getting one of those thrones as well,
[29:43] So it seems, But these guys, Their role, And their job, Is not finished, And Christ, In his earthly ministry, And then after that, They're told, In early Acts, Or they're told to go into all the world, Preach the gospel, They're told to, Well they have some specific things, With that church in Jerusalem early on, But their role, Is not just, To, Going to be fulfilled in this life, And it's interesting, That God has, Not just, I'm going to, Bless you, With heaven, He doesn't just, That's just such a broad, Generic thought, But no, This is specific duties, For them in the afterlife, To come back, And they've got a job to do, They're going to be, Judging, Twelve tribes of Israel, When?
[30:32] When the son of man comes back, And sits on a throne, In his glory, So these men, Are going to have duties, And jobs, And positions in the future, And I, There's some stuff, I can't quite, Piece together and understand, I've heard teaching on this, For the church age, And for, I understand some things, Or have heard some things, Probably as much as you, But just some of it, I can't quite, Say that I understand, And agree with, Or really, It doesn't quite, Settle in and resonate, And answer all my questions, About me, In the future, And what God's going to, Do for you and I, And so I kind of lay off, A little bit of that, One thing I know, From what the scripture says, Is that those boys, Are going to have a throne, And they're going to be judging, Twelve tribes of Israel, But I'll just let that be, What it says, And we won't go any further, Verse 29, Let's finish this chapter, And everyone, That hath forsaken houses, Or brethren, Or sister, Or father, Or mother, Or wife, Or children, Lands for my name's sake, Shall receive an hundredfold,
[31:33] And shall inherit, Everlasting life, Now what's the motivation, For them to be leaving, These things, He says, For my name's sake, For my name's sake, So it's, If you think it's not a good thing, To leave your, Sisters, And father, Or wife, Or children, Or your land, Well, On the surface, That's not, A commendable thought, But when it comes to doing it, For Jesus name's sake, Then it's obvious, Well he's not calling a man, To leave his children, Unless there's, Legitimate reasons, Or terms, Or issues, For instance, A man says, I'm called of God, I need to follow the Lord, And the wife says, I'm not going, So what's the man going to do?
[32:18] Well, My responsibility is to you first, Woman, And to God second, So what's a man to do? If he's to follow God first, And he's obeying the Lord, And the woman says, I'm not following you, Even though I'm commanded, To follow you, If you're following Christ, Then it's on her, And we don't want to think that way, And think about, Well he's walking away from, No, He's following the Lord, The Lord's not leading him away, From his family, He's leading him to something, That's right, It's the family, Or the wife, In this case, That I'm hypothetical, That is, Causing the problems, And going to be judged for it, And all the things, That would happen, Down the road, Is going to be on her, So Jesus Christ, I don't see, I don't want to, You know, Read in some negative thought here, That he's pulling families apart, No, He's calling men to follow him, And to serve him, And if somebody obeys him, No matter what he gives up, Or forsakes, He's going to receive, A hundredfold, Now that hundredfold,
[33:19] Shows up a few times in the Bible, I don't know that it's anything, I can comment on, To bring a teaching about it all, But it shows up in Matthew 13, Earlier in one of the parables, With the good ground, Where the seed grows, Thirty, Sixty, And hundredfold, Just one time, Another time Isaiah, I'm sorry, Isaac in Genesis 26, Is sowing, God said, I'm going to bless you, And the covenant from Abraham, Goes to Isaac, And he went and sowed in the land, And he reaped a hundredfold that year, And the Lord just dumped blessing, All over him, And so I don't know, If that's, If there's more to it, That I haven't looked up or found, But that term shows up a few times in the Bible, Receiving a hundredfold, It's something that God is in, And blesses, And shall inherit everlasting life, And then finally, Verse 30, But many that are first, Shall be last, And the last, Shall be first, And so there's some Christian irony, That if you're first, You're the back of the line,
[34:20] And if you're last, God says you'll be first, And that statement then, Is going to get explained, Lord willing, Not next Sunday, But two Sundays from now, We'll get back into this, And see, Look at chapter 20, He begins talking about the kingdom of heaven, Obviously, And in verse number 8, Look at the end of the verse, It says, Beginning from the last, Unto the first, And then in verse number 16, Of the next chapter, He says, So the last shall be first, See that, So, He just explains something, And he closes it by saying, So, The last shall be first, And the first last, So from verse 30, He's going to then, Teach something, Explain it, Maybe we'd say, In a parable, Or in a story, In the next chapter, And then that's where we'll pick it up next week, Or two weeks from now, Next week, Brother Spurgeon's here, Okay, So let's take time to break, And then we'll come back, Okay, So, So,
[35:21] Tell me, You're going to take. Okay,
