[0:00] God laid this thing out. So there's this headship. That's kind of the first thing we drew out of this passage, describing that the husband is the head of the wife. So that's the reason the wives submit to their own husbands as unto the Lord.

[0:13] They're underneath the Lord through the husband. Verse 23 says the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church and he's the savior of the body. Now if I could borrow your imagination again without the screen to just picture here again a little bit different setup here, but imagine here's a comparison.

[0:34] It's the husband being the head of the wife. So just picture the husband's name and then the wife underneath. And he says even as, in verse 23, Christ, so picture on the other side, Christ is the head of the church.

[0:48] And so this relationship of Christ and the church and the relationship of the husband and the wife are being compared here. And there's an illustration to understand this. In verse 24, therefore, as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands and everything.

[1:07] Now this is kind of assumed and taken for granted in the Lord. Like in verse 22, as unto the Lord. And we looked in Colossians to show that and make that point clear. That it's the things that are right.

[1:19] And as the church is subject to Christ, who is perfect and holy and pure, so we can completely have faith in what Jesus Christ is leading and calling us to. We don't have to question him.

[1:31] That does break down a little bit if you're going to presume the man to be perfect and holy and upright in all of his ways. He could be out of line. And if that's the case, then you're going to have trouble submitting in that way and being right with God.

[1:44] So the husband's the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church and he's the savior of the body. We'll come back to that line. Verse 24, therefore, as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands and everything.

[1:56] So that's the kind of picture of the relationship if you've got that in your mind. Now can I back up to verse 23 again. He says, this has all been easy to conceive here, that this relationship and the comparison.

[2:09] But he throws in this line at the end of 23, and he's the savior of the body. Now two things to mention. One simple is the word church and body are referring to the same thing, the same organism, the same congregation, the same born-again people, the church.

[2:28] Just if you need to see it, back in chapter 1 of Ephesians and look at verse 22 and 23. We've already come through this, and this is kind of old hat to most of us to know this.

[2:43] But for everybody's sake, chapter 1, verse 22, and hath put all things under his feet and gave him, speaking of Christ, to be the head, there it is again, over all things to the church which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all.

[3:01] Now so the church and his body, I'm going to start trying to break something down here, and I don't know how far I can go with it or will go, because look back at chapter 5 and verse 32, the first five words, and there's the reason.

[3:16] I don't know how far I can explain this. This is a great mystery. Some people just teach on the surface, it's a mystery that this church exists, because it is kind of a new thing that Paul's teaching, but he's already brought it up in the book.

[3:34] But he's really kind of, if you study closely these terms in chapter 5, to me it muddies the waters. I get confused when I'm trying to study it and compare it, and then I come to verse 32 and say, oh, yeah, it's because it's a great mystery, and it's something that Paul's trying to explain and teach and reveal, that it's just kind of complicated, and hard to really just put it in words that we can just understand clearly.

[4:01] So let me continue on, and hopefully I don't make this more confusing than I am. Verse 20, back in Ephesians 5, and we saw that Christ is the head of the church, verse 23, and so that represents that authority, and that passage about submission with the wives and the husbands, that matches that.

[4:21] And, verse 23, at the end, he is the savior of the body. Now he tags this term on, it's in addition to his headship and his authority, he's also, on top of that, to the same church, called the body now, he's the savior of the body.

[4:38] Is the head and the savior the same term? It is not. Do they mean the same thing? Absolutely not. So there's kind of two different functions here, two different teachings, and he tags this thing on, and I think he's setting up something to teach to the husbands, is what's going to come right down the pike here.

[4:57] So while he's teaching on the husband being the head, and building that illustration, the comparison of Christ and his church, the husband and the wife, verse 23, and he's the savior of the body, and now he comes in to bring that into play in verse 25, husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself, there's the savior part, and gave himself for it.

[5:24] If we're not careful, we'll take a Hallmark card version of what we're supposed to be as husbands to our wives, and loving them, and just pretend that husbands love your wives, and give them two hours of your time.

[5:38] Husbands love your wives, and take them out to dinner, and that'll do it. Candy and flowers never hurt, so, you know, get a sweet card, and sign your name to it. And I don't care if you do that, go for it.

[5:50] But that stuff, that little Hallmark, if I can just put it in a little Hallmark bubble, that's not even on the same plane, as what the scripture is teaching to the man, and commanding to the man, of how to love his wife.

[6:04] As Christ is the savior of the body, that's the relationship of the husband to the wife. Don't misunderstand that I, please allow me the liberty to say these things, without you just saying, you mean you say that the husband is the savior, can save his wife, and wash our sins away?

[6:20] You don't understand, that's not where we're going. But that is the relationship, and that is the terms that Paul uses. And that's to illustrate, the command to this. Husbands, verse 25, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and shed his blood, and innocently let people beat him, and tear him down, an innocent and pure and holy righteous man, allowed sinners to rip him down to nothing, and abuse him publicly.

[6:53] That's the giving side of Christ. That's what Christ submitted, and obeyed the sufferings of the cross. What's that term in Hebrews?

[7:03] I'm missing it here. The obedient, or he's obedient, no, that's Philippians, obedient to death. I'll let it go. Christ loved the church, and gave himself for it.

[7:14] So, is there anything higher? Is there any more devotion? It's not 200 bucks, that he just let go. It's himself. It's his life.

[7:25] It's everything he is for the church. He gave himself for it, because the church was in need. Because the church, I'm not going to draw this comparison too tight here, or try to draw, you know, make women be the sinners, in the marriage relationship.

[7:42] We'll be getting out of balance. But I hope you're getting the idea, that Paul uses that term, as the savior of the body, and he comes back to the husbands then, to drive that point home, of husbands loving the wives, and giving themselves.

[7:57] So then in verse 26, he kind of gets into the purpose, of him giving himself, because the need was great, that he might sanctify and cleanse it. That tells me that the church, or sinners, needed to be sanctified, before God the Father.

[8:12] They needed to be cleansed, and he took care of it. That he might sanctify and cleanse it, with the washing of water, by the word. That he might present it to himself, a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any such thing, but that it should be holy, and without blemish.

[8:28] And now he goes back, to the husband. So ought men, just like Christ gave himself, and for the purpose and reasoning, why he did that, so ought men to love their wives, as their own bodies.

[8:39] He that loveth his wife, loveth himself. Now here comes some peculiar wording to me, and it's easy just to say, okay, he's talking about his male body. He loves himself, he takes care of himself, and that's the way he's supposed to treat his wife.

[8:51] But the mystery part, starts to creep in, when this teaching, that being joined, yet you become one. And bone of his bone, and flesh of his flesh.

[9:04] And that's where it starts to become, very mysterious, and hard to comprehend. On one hand, you've got two separate individuals, just like Christ and the church, two separate entities, and that's how he's portraying it.

[9:20] But then on the other hand, it's Christ, the head of his body. And then he calls us members, like pieces of that body. And so it's like, it's two different things, merged into one thought, and I'm having trouble reconciling, all of that.

[9:37] Take your Bible, and come back to 1 Corinthians, chapter 6, and chapter 12. We'll go to 12 first. And then we'll go back to 1 Corinthians 6.

[10:00] So like I said, I don't know how far I can go with this, because I profess to not understand all of it, but I'll do my best. And what I'm not going to do is just brush over it and tell you some story, and make a joke, and then move on.

[10:13] We'll try to cover this in Sunday school, that's what we're here for, and try to learn this Bible. 1 Corinthians 12, and see this in verse number 12, that the body is one, and hath many members.

[10:28] So now we're talking about an individual body. And all the members of that body, or that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. So we can get that.

[10:39] We can get Christ, and the body of Christ, as a congregation, a church, being all different members, brought together to one body. I can get that. Because we're placed into that body.

[10:52] Verse 13, For by one spirit are we all baptized into, that means to be placed into, the body, one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bound or free, and have been all made to drink, into one spirit, for the body is not one member, but many.

[11:08] And he carries on with that illustration. Now come to verse 27, just to conclude this thought. Ye, now ye are, the body of Christ. Ye is plural. Ye, people. Ye, individuals, are collectively, the body of Christ, and members in particular.

[11:24] So that's kind of easy to get, that illustration. All right, come back to chapter 6 now, please. 1 Corinthians 6. And, here he's talking about a body, your physical body, and similar stuff, but different here.

[11:51] He mentions in verse 17, he that is joined unto the Lord, is one spirit. Let me back up. Verse 16. What know ye not, that he which is joined to a heartless one body, for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.

[12:06] But he that's joined unto the Lord, is one spirit. That's what we're going to, kind of pile, drive right into, back in Ephesians 5, here in a minute. So, just getting some of this set up, before we get there. Let me back all the way up.

[12:19] Verse, boy, we could keep going. Verse 13. We'll start in verse 13. Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats. But God shall destroy both it and them.

[12:31] Now, what does that mean? Well, he's going to contrast by, by continuing, that the body's not for fornication, but for the Lord. And the Lord for the body. So, he wants to get your mind off, of thinking that this human body, that God has given you to live in, it's, he's not, he wants to drive the attention, off of the meats, and the drinks, and the carnal things, and the coffee, or the drugs, or the alcohol, or the smoking, or anything like that.

[12:58] We're not dealing with that right here. What's he dealing with the body for? In verse 19, what, know you not that your body, is the temple of the Holy Ghost? And so, he's driving at your, your personal, physical body being a temple.

[13:11] A temple for God, to dwell in, and to use, and to fulfill his will, in this earth, in this time, through you. And so, we're not going to get caught up on the meats, that's, that's just for your belly, that's just to keep this thing alive, the blood flows through it, that's, that's, it's a separate compartment.

[13:28] And he's like, God's going to destroy both it and that, all that. We're not worried about that. We're worried about this body, as a temple of God. That he can live in, and have access, to others through, and to work through.

[13:42] And so, he says, the body is, in verse 13, it's for the Lord. And the Lord, for the body. He wants to live in you, and he wants to control you, and guide you. So, in verse 15, know you not, that your bodies, are the members of Christ?

[13:57] Shall I then, take the members of Christ, and make them, the members of an harlot? God forbid. Now, he's dealing with fornication here, specifically in the context. But we're dealing, we're talking about this body.

[14:10] Talking about this body, supposed to glorify God, in verse 20. You're supposed to glorify God, in your body. And that body is, a member of Christ, and it is joined, to the Lord, and becomes one.

[14:22] So this is where, ooh, I'm confusing myself. Come back to Ephesians 5, and see a similar, quotation here. And, verse 30, says, for we are members, of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

[14:49] Now, that's just what we read earlier, your bodies, are the members of Christ. And we read, in verse Corinthians 12, that ye, are the members, you're the body of Christ, and members in particular. So we individually, collectively, make up that body.

[15:01] And he then, is the head. But, then the confusing part, of where that two entities, the husband and wife illustration, or the Christ and the church.

[15:13] You have a will, you have decisions you make, you can resist him. And it's hard, it's confusing to me, to merge these two concepts together. Verse 31.

[15:26] He's going to go, quote Moses, for this cause, shall a man leave, his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife. And they too, shall be one flesh.

[15:37] This is a great mystery, but I speak, concerning Christ and the church. They're two separate things, plainly said. Being joined to one. And yet, we're members of his body, and he's the head, and that's, it feels like it's two different pictures, but he's putting them all, in the same chapter.

[15:55] And then he just calls it a great mystery, and to me, that's relieving. Because then I can say, okay, I don't have to get this completely. Now in verse 33, nevertheless, let every one of you, now he's just going to kind of summarize, and go back, to where he was, where he started.

[16:10] Nevertheless, let every one of you, in particular, so love his wife, even as himself, and the wife see that she reverends her husband. That's where he started, back in verse 21, before he got to that savior of the body, and then turned into Christ giving himself for the church, and then the members of his body, and two becoming one, and then he's like, okay, this is a great mystery, and I'm talking about Christ and the church.

[16:31] Nevertheless, just that aside, here's what I was saying, love your wife, even as yourself, and wives, reverends your husband, okay? So I think Paul got into something deeper, and then just backed off of it, right there at the end, and said, this is what we were really dealing with, back there earlier, about submission, and being in subjection, one to another.

[16:52] All right, now a little bit, of just some food for thought. In verse 31, he quotes Moses, for this cause, shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they too, shall be one flesh.

[17:04] Let's take a peek at that, back in Genesis chapter 2, what he's talking about. I told you the first time we came through here, that Adam and Eve, are a picture, or a type, of Christ and his church.

[17:19] And for one purpose, or one reasoning, being that Adam gave himself, for his bride, he willingly, gave in, to what she requested of him, knowing that it was wrong, but because she was already in the wrong, and she was already going down, and the death was taking place in her, that God said would take place, he chose to die, to chew, he chose death, over life.

[17:46] It's a picture of Jesus Christ, and the church, seeing a, well, according to Ephesians, seeing somebody that needed to be cleansed, and washed, somebody that had spot, and that had blemish, and he gave himself, to be with her.

[18:01] Alright, now Genesis chapter 2, here's something, that's interesting here, that, this woman, comes out of man, as you know the story, his, a rib is taken out of man, look at verse 21, the Lord God caused a deep sleep, to fall upon Adam, and he slept, and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead, so he performed a surgery, he opened him up, how do I know that, because he closed him up, so he opened him up, he took a rib, literally, took a rib out of that man, and in verse 22, in the rib, which the Lord God, had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man, now if this is too fanatical to you, why would it be, if God can take some dirt, and pile it up together, and form man, out of the dust of the ground, why can't he do it with a rib, or with whatever he chooses to, we're not, we don't have any reason, to doubt, or to limit God's ability, and if this is what he chooses, it may be peculiar, in Genesis reading it, but something else, shows up later, and I'm not going to, tell you ladies, we're comparing,

[19:10] Adam and Eve's relationship, the husband and the wife, Christ and the church, and then, just keep that in mind, verse 23, and Adam said, this is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh, that's exactly what Paul said, she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man, therefore shall man leave his father, and mother, and shall cleave unto his wife, and they shall be one flesh, so they're joined, or united, as one flesh, but they're not, are they practically, physically one flesh, he takes a step, and she's with him, I mean, it sounds good, but they were, on two different pages, in chapter three, pretty soon, this one flesh, was doing, she, so, that's hard to understand that, this teaching, of being one flesh, it's easy to say it, it's easy to get this union, but it's hard to understand, now let me back up, just a step here, for just as I said, food for thought, the rib, the Lord opened up, the man, took a rib out, and made the woman, come back to, let's go to John, look at, got John's gospel, in chapter 19,

[20:23] John chapter 19, and this is the crucifixion, of Jesus Christ, in verse 32, then came the soldiers, and break the legs, of the first, and of the other, which was crucified, with him, but when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they break not his legs, but one of the soldiers, with a spear, pierced his side, they opened up his side, on the cross, just like Adam, and forthwith, came there out, blood and water, now, I'm not trying to tell you, that God took a rib, and did anything like that, I'm just making the point, that what Christ is doing, on the cross, is satisfying this type, and the picture, because, a new entity, is going to emerge, on the scene, that's going to be a mystery, and that Adam, that she came out of him, and Bible tells us, and even takes that, very scripture, and links it, to the relationship, between Christ, and the church, being members of his body, in Ephesians 5 30, of his flesh, and of his bones, and it's a great mystery, and out comes blood, and water, and that blood's the, the price of our redemption, where he gave himself, for that church, he's the savior of the body, and that water, even in the passage, in Ephesians, mentions the water, that he might sanctify, and cleanse it, with the washing of water, by the word, that he might present it, to himself, a glorious church, now later in, first John, chapter five, he talks about, blood and water, and the spirit, bearing witness on earth, and you can look that up, and try to, carry the thought, if you can, make a little more, connection to it,

[22:32] I just don't know, how much further, to go with any of that, so that's where I'm stopping, and all I'm calling that, is food for thought, but the connections there, and it sure seems, that it's, Christ is picturing, something more, with that spear, it's prophesied, they'd pierce him, they'd look on him, and they pierced, but when they pierced him, they opened him up, right there, and, from that day forward, comes the church, now I'm not trying, to make a doctrinal statement there, if you get into this really deep, people were arguing, about the church, when it began, Acts two, Acts nine, middle of Acts, they got all kinds of ideas, but I connect it, pretty strongly, from Ephesians, right here, and back in chapter one, with his death, burial, and resurrection, anyway, let's move on, let's get back, into Ephesians five, with the time we have left, could I just, emphasize one more time, verse 32, this is a great mystery, and that's what I'm gonna, be the title, of this morning's Sunday school, this is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ, and the church, all right, chapter six, let's move on, children, obey your parents, in the Lord, for this is right, it says in the Colossians, it's well pleasing, unto the Lord, to be obedient, that obedience, is a choice, obedience is a choice, it's submission, that started back, in verse 21, and it's a command, and it ties it back, to Moses as well, and to the, to Exodus 20, and the 10 commandments, verse two, honor thy father, and mother, which is the first commandment, with promise, why, verse three, that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest live long, on the earth, now that scares me,

[24:16] I'm telling you the truth, because as a, young man, as a teenager, I was a, just a rebel in my heart, and I wasn't, I didn't curse my parents, to their face, they never, I hid everything, I could hide, but I knew, I lied to their face, I deceived them, if I could, so I could live, live a different life, and still save face, and I know my heart, and how I treated them, it wasn't 50 years, but it was long enough, that it scares me, when I read, that that promise, Paul puts on the church, and on children, to obey, and to honor their parents, and there's a, it's a promise, from the Old Testament, he carries it into the New, and I think, oh, how many years, did I zap, from my life, or I tell my wife, I'm like, unless you were really wicked, you're probably, going to outlive me, because I just feel like, I sowed some stuff, and God is not mocked, and that's going to be, my cross to bear, you may think, ah, it's okay, God forgives it all, sure he does, he's merciful, and he's gracious, but he's not going, to go against his word, and he didn't, he didn't put a curse, in that chapter, that if you don't, but you don't have to go far, to find how he, how they, what he did say, about the children, that'll blaspheme, or parents, or they get stoned, so anyway, children, you want to, you want to be healthy, and safe, and right with God, obey your parents, in the Lord, in the Lord, that's key, if your parents tell you, to do something that's wrong, or they give you permission, or they just allow things, that are wrong, then you got a choice to make, and you want to obey God, let me point that out, because I made that comment, come back to Acts 5, let me point it out, from the Bible,

[26:01] I made the comment, last time I'd say, and even maybe, alluded to it today, about if a husband, or a wife, or anybody that gets away, from the Lord, seeks to lead them, underneath them, by authority's sake, you got to make a choice, of who you're going to obey, now there came a time, in the ministry of the apostles, where they were commanded, by the authorities, that they were under, that they were not allowed, to do a certain thing, and then they had a choice, and the men, actually let's come back, to chapter 4, and see what they say, in verse 17, but that it spread, no further among the people, let us straightly threaten them, that they speak henceforth, to no man in this name, and they called them, and commanded them, not to speak at all, nor teach, in the name of Jesus, here's Peter's, just right on response, but Peter and John, answered and said to them, whether it be right, in the sight of God, that's important, that his mind's there, whether it be right, in the sight of God, to hearken unto you, more than God, judge ye, but we cannot, but speak the things, that we have seen and heard, and so they further, threatened them, and they went back, to doing what God, told them to do, and so look at chapter 5, they grab him, they catch him, and they question him, and in verse 28, saying did not, we straightly command you, that ye should not, teach in this name, and behold you fill Jerusalem, with your doctrine, and intend to bring, this man's blood upon us, then Peter and the other apostles, answered and said, we ought to obey God, rather than men, now you can submit, to your government, and wives you can submit, to your husbands, and children you can, obey your parents, as long as it's in line, with that picture I showed you, with God, with Jesus Christ, and he won't go against his word, but if the government, or your parents, step outside, of what God says is right, you ought to obey God, to the best of your ability, rather than man, and he's keeping track, and the Bible calls him, the righteous judge, so he'll know, and you'll give account, coming back to Ephesians chapter 6, children obey your parents, and the Lord, for this is right, honor thy father and mother, which is the first commandment, with promise, that it may be well with thee, that thou mayest live long, on the earth,

[28:22] I encourage all kids, especially young men, to be in the Proverbs, Solomon writes it to young men, and it's loaded with thoughts, just like this, of how you can avoid, pitfalls in life, how you can avoid problems, and destruction, and how you can be blessed, and right with God, and have blessings, in your life, not just like get rich quick, but he talks about, the quality of life, of contrast, the wicked and the righteous, it's something that every young man, and every child, should learn growing up, is this, the world, and what's wrong, what's right, and the Proverbs is nailed with that, it's just laced with it, verse 4, and ye fathers, provoke not your children, to wrath, but bring them up, in the nurture, and admonition, of the Lord, take a look at Colossians, just to make a comparison, quickly, before we comment, Colossians chapter 3, he says, provoke not your children, to wrath, I think it's pretty obvious, the statement, but it says it, a little differently, verse 21, of Colossians 3, fathers, provoke not your children, to anger, lest they be discouraged, lest they be discouraged, so the command, is to fathers now, earlier the man, was the husband, and the command, was to loving his wife, now the relationship, with the children, is to provoke them, not to wrath, or to anger, and to discourage them, and I think,

[29:59] I don't know, if culturally, there would be a, that this would have, a little more, not relevance, I think it's obviously, relevant everywhere, and to all generations, I wonder culturally, if things were different, as you know, around the world, cultures treat each other, relationship, husband, wife, father, children, there's differences, all around the world, with just what cultures, see as right, or acceptable, and so I don't know, if as, growing up in, Bible believing church, in America, that you quite, that we quite, would see, what another would see, in these scriptures, in this verse, about fathers, and their children, but what little things, I can understand, or do know personally, and have seen, and experienced, I can understand, that fathers can be tempted, to portray this, authoritarian, dictator, mindset, and they maybe, can't be it at work, and maybe they can't be it, among their friends, but they can be it, in their home, and they can get, that fulfillment, by lording over, their family, with a hard, and heavy hand, and that would be, just a thing of pride, and to be wrong, to provoke, to wrath, to cause discouragement, in a child,

[31:17] I've known a couple, that are good people, but I've watched them, raising their kids, and again, I'm not the authority, on this at all, and the verdict, is still out, on my four kids, they may all four, and you'll call me, a hypocrite, to the rest of your, the only standard, I have to look to, is my dad, as like, really no, as far as lived it, I've seen other people, and families, but I know very, very good men, that have only, one out of three, they've served in the ministry, their whole life, and only one out of three, is doing right, and my dad has three, out of three, for the time being, and that doesn't mean, he's the guy, and he won't even come here, and say this is what, let me give you a lecture, he wouldn't do that at all, he'd say, to the glory of God, by the grace of God, it was all him, and he would not take anything, so, I don't have a lot, to pull from here, and I can't tell you, what the truth is, and how, and all that, but I can say, there's some things, I've observed, there's some things, that just haven't set well, with me, as I've observed it, and I've seen, a particular father, be so nitpicky, on his kids,

[32:23] I mean, he's a good man, but just, picking, everything, if they, if, I don't even want to give you, illustrations of it, you just, I felt like, just let them go, they're kids, yeah, they're going to fall down, because they're running outside, but, why do they have to walk, to the car, if they want to run, I mean, I know if you're in the, parking lot, of some major place, yeah, okay, but, out here in the grass, can't you run, can't you let them be a kid, and I've seen them, just, just squeeze, and I felt like, as I observed it, I felt like, I'm not going to be that guy, not just so my kids have fun, but, I'm not going to like, kill their spirit, their children, that's part of what they are right now, I want them to enjoy that, I want them to have that, and it's my job to observe it, and to direct it, and when I see it's wrong, bring it back, and correct it, and I hope I did the right thing, and I'm doing the right thing, in that way, but I have to, that's what my mind goes to, when I see a father's provoking, their children to wrath, and the thought of, of driving up anger, in the kid, if the kid wants to do something, that's wrong, and not pleasing to the Lord, it's the father's job, if it makes him mad, it makes him mad, but it's the father's job, before the Lord, to say no, and just to bring him back, to where God is, but if the father, just has this, twisted mindset, that I'm the God, of your world, and you worship me, and obey me, or something,

[33:55] I don't know, I can definitely see, where a kid would get off, I can say this too, as a child, growing up as a child, where I did not like my dad, was where he would, let me do things, that I wanted to do, that were wrong, because I was rebellious, in my heart, and looking back, he was, dead on right, the whole way, when I wanted to go, with friends, that were not, going to do right, when I wanted to tell him, I'm going here, but truthfully, I'm going there, and he was, putting the brakes on it, I just would, display this, bitter spirit toward him, but who was right, I know who was right, he was right, God was right, I was dead wrong, and deceitful, and so that would not, fall into, fathers provoking them, the wrath, if the children are bent, on doing wrong, that's just a father, doing his job, and trying to, finish the verse, verse four, bring them up, in the nurture, and admonition, of the Lord, that's a wonderful line, every father, ought to have that underlined, and memorized, and it ought to go through your mind, quite regularly, as you seek to raise children, for the glory of God, your command is to bring them up, in the nurture, and admonition, of the Lord, not of the world, not of your trade, the first, and most priority, that's the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, get them in the word of God, try to drive them to the book, try to drive them, to a relationship with God, and teach them, what's right and wrong, what God thinks about it, what God says about it, this is going back pretty far,

[35:28] I may have told you this before, but, this is back pretty far, don't get offended by this, just take it for what it is, when my kid was, when Samuel was a real little guy, we were in a grocery store, checking out, and we got behind, this young man, that had two earrings in, and I didn't notice it, but he did, and now, he's probably three or four years old, just a little guy, just, you know, trying to take candy, or something, and, and, I had taught him, and we, you know, we have, this is not like, I didn't have a checklist of, I got to tell him, all these things are wrong, just in life, I directed him, into what I believe, is the right thing, for a man, and to, not be worldly, but to be godly, and to have a temple, of the Holy Ghost, and so, I taught him, that for men, they don't need to, adorn their bodies, with jewelry, they don't need to wear necklaces, they don't need to wear earrings, they don't need to, spend $200, on a hairdo, and dye their hair, and I just, you don't need to, adorn your body, and make yourself pretty, for people to like you, it's vanity, so okay, so somebody's, going to get me here, okay, so I taught him that, from just a young child up, and we're in this, grocery store line, and he's like, he's like, dead, dead,

[36:58] I'm like, what, and he's like, yeah, and I'm like, what, I got down, he's like, that guy has earrings, and I looked at him, and he's kind of like, and I, and I was, I looked in his ear, I was like, I'm not going to be like, oh, shush, shush, shush, or we don't recognize that, but I reached down, and I was like, that's right, he does have earrings, and we don't do that, boys don't need to put stones, in their ears, to make them look pretty, and he's like, yeah, now if he ever wears earrings, you, you could go up, and just pull on it, and, or make fun of him, and call him a pretty boy, but, you do what you want with that, when I got out, in the world, and I was just being, an idiot for a while, and I, I crossed paths, with my parents, at a particular time, I can still remember this, I was in a store, with my mom and dad, and, and it was awkward, because we just, you know, I was wrong, and we were together, for a while, and my mom's doing this thing, looking, I'm like, what are you doing, and she's like, I'm just checking, to see if you have any holes, in your ears, and I was like, no mom,

[38:03] I'm not that stupid, I'm, I know I'm stupid, but, that's just one thing, I'm not crossing that line, I don't want that, for the rest of my life, so, anyway, I'm not going to go any further, before I lose most of you, because we could keep going, there's other ways, we could go with some of this, this had to do with fathers, bringing them up, in a nurture, and admonition, of the Lord, of the Lord, now if you know somebody, that has an earring, you don't need to attack them, but, it could probably help, to understand, what their body is for, and, anyway, we'll stop there, let's pick it up, in 10 minutes, go take a little break, and try to get back here, in 10 minutes, to start, and try to get back,
