[0:00] amen and for me to be preaching behind a pulpit that's that gets funnier amen i'm excited to be here amen i think it's a privilege to be at this church um kind of grew up uh around this church amen some of you i've known for years and years and years but it's definitely a privilege to be here um appreciate your pastor i know his wife's here so she she just won't tell him amen but i appreciate your pastor he's he's been a friend to me he's helped me out and um i just i appreciate him giving me this privilege amen of course when you see him i only said bad things about him right amen that's how that's how the story goes amen so uh if you got a bible please open it up to john chapter 10 oh i almost did not pray if you'll bow your heads with me please heavenly father uh lord you give life and breath and peace lord you you created heaven and earth uh lord the angels are subservient unto thee and how dare i come up here and not pray to you lord thank you for for this privilege and this honor lord help me to say things that are fit and right in your eyes and lord i pray and ask and beg for your help this day lord i can't do it without you i'm well aware that i know it for sure lord so please come and bless this service as only you can for i ask it in the name of my holy and precious savior the lord jesus christ amen amen amen amen uh john chapter 10 um when it comes to to lessons in the bible amen uh many things can be taught um and uh not not being around this church you know not knowing what's being taught or anything else it's sometimes tough to get a subject amen i'm not sure um what would be best for you guys but uh luckily um god does um and so i have kind of a basic lesson for you this morning um it's going to be on eternal security um so what that means is once you accept the lord jesus christ as your savior you are eternally guaranteed a place in heaven amen you're adopted into god's family and um it's one of the things that i think is um um not taught in very many places obviously you can go to 99 of the churches in the u.s probably and not even get this um so uh i'm gonna start in kind of an odd place um i'm gonna start with the word saved amen uh the word saved is in your bible more than once obviously and um it has different meanings it is like the word baptism um when i first got saved and i came to church i i heard the word baptism are you guys like me i thought of only one thing amen well baptism was getting dunked in the water amen or sprinkled or something like that and it has different meanings in the bible amen there's a baptism of fire and and many other things well saved is like that amen so um you can actually be saved from different things um but uh i'll show you why we use it amen john chapter 10 and verse 9 john chapter 10 and verse 9 um the way i'm going to go about this this morning is i'm going to go over different ways that god describes being eternally secure amen and saved is one of them here in john chapter 10 and verse 9 i am the door by me if any man enter in he shall be saved and shall go in and out and find pasture go with me to uh acts chapter 2 acts chapter 2 um if you've been saved for a long time and you have the subject down very well um great each time we go over one of these points you just remember how how how good it is to be saved amen um if you're if you're one of those people that dares to be so crazy dares to be so crazy that
[4:01] you'll actually witness to other people amen you might want to have some of these verses down you don't necessarily need the ones that i'm telling you but it'd be good to have some amen uh acts chapter 2 and verse 21 and it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the lord shall be saved uh drop down to verse 47 praising god and having favor with all the people and the lord added to the church daily such as should be saved chapter 4 verse 12 neither is there salvation and any other for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved saved saved is a good word isn't it amen go to uh chapter 11 verse 14 chapter 11 and verse 14 who shall tell thee words whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved chapter 15 verse 11 i'm just getting used to some exercise turning pages amen that's all we're doing this morning amen we're just going to turn a bunch of pages and act like we did something page uh i almost told you what page number amen uh acts chapter 15 and verse 11 15 and verse 11 but we believe that through the grace of the lord jesus christ we shall be saved even as they uh i'm going to skip over a bunch of these if you're taking notes uh chapter 16 verse 30 through 32 but go with me to romans chapter 5 if you don't mind romans chapter 5 and verse 9 don't you love these words amen just think about these words as we as we read them amen chapter 5 verse 9 much more than being now justified by his blood we shall be saved from wrath through him for if when we were sinners we were reconciled to god by the death of his son much more being reconciled we shall be saved by his life uh chapter 10 verse 9 most of you guys know this one i i would think at least chapter romans chapter 10 verse 9 amen romans chapter 10 and verse 9 that thou shalt confess with thy mouth the lord jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that god hath raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation for the scripture saith whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed for there is no difference between the jew and the greek for the same lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him for whosoever shall call upon the name of lord shall be saved now i was probably going to say this a little later but as we go through all these verses and all these things what strikes me most about this this doctrine is this um there are people that are in charge of churches that don't know about this and my question is and and and this probably won't go over well but i'll say it anyways uh you might hear from time to time somebody say something bad about a different religion or a leader of a different church and um they need to have some grace but one of the reasons they do it is this after all that we're going to go through right now how could somebody who is honestly looking miss it these are people that are entrusted with people's souls amen uh you you would take your family to this church you would go there for a long
[8:04] period of time and and over time you would get to the time you've been there 15 20 years and i would ask you simple bible questions and you wouldn't know it amen there's a gentleman that's in charge of that in that in charge of that group or church if you would and we're going to see different ways that god talks about it but but imagine being entrusted with god's word to to help people along and lead them spiritually and not know this doctrine amen uh go with me to first corinthians chapter one first corinthians chapter one in verse 18 i kind of chuckle about this because i was the first part of this verse when i was when i was younger for the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness but unto us which are saved it is the power of god ephesians chapter two ephesians chapter two and verse five even when we were dead in sins have quickened us together with christ by grace you are saved of course dropping down to verse eight for by grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourselves it is the gift of god not of works lest any should boast lest any man should boast amen uh second thessalonians chapter two you say man that's a lot of verses yeah it is isn't it that's why i asked myself and like i said i probably should have saved it to the end but but why would you miss it why would you miss it if you're honestly looking amen it's upsetting to me because of this fact right i remember witnessing to a a woman at one point we were we had become friends um i worked at a business and and uh or a supplier she worked at a business that was supplying stuff to us fabric and so um i talked to her quite a few times and this girl was was extremely religious she had been going to church i think for something over 30 years just as an adult 30 years of going to church amen uh very faithful to it um you know if a pillar in the church one of those people that's just always there amen and i started asking her some basic questions and she didn't have a clue 30 years of going to a church and not once did she hear about this not once amen strange thing strange thing strange thing amen uh second thessalonians chapter 2 and verse 10 second thessalonians chapter 2 and verse 10 your witnesses and god also how holily and justly and unblameably we beheld we beheld we behaved ourselves among you that believe amen i'm in first thessalonians in case you were wondering amen that might sound a little odd to you amen i'm looking for the word saved and it's not there so second thessalonians where the rest of you are chapter 2 and verse 10 and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish because they receive not the love of the truth that they might be saved i think that's the problem right there the love of the truth amen the love of the truth uh first timothy chapter 2 first timothy chapter 2 and verse 3 for this is good and acceptable in the sight of god our savior
[12:05] who will have all men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth for there is one god and one mediator between god and men the man christ jesus second timothy chapter 1 second timothy chapter 1 and verse 9 who hath saved us and called us with an holy calling not according to our works but according to his own pleasure and grace which was given us in christ jesus before the world began but is now made manifest by the appearing of our savior jesus christ who hath abolished death and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel titus chapter 3 titus chapter 3 you say every once in a while i have some doubts i know none of you are like this amen i know none of you have ever doubted in your life amen but you say every once in a while i have a doubt amen um you know god is perfect heaven is perfect and to think that that he would give me eternal life and there's no way that i could lose that that's that seems a little too good to be true doesn't it i remember that was one of my problems when i first came to church i most of you know my testimony i came for all the wrong reasons amen i came because i was jealous of a girl i was dating amen it's the only reason i went to church amen being the great spiritual man that i am amen uh the only reason i went to church because i was jealous of a girl amen but i remember when they first told me that i could have my sins forgiven i thought you don't know me that's a great sentence amen sounds wonderful amen but but uh but god wouldn't accept me there's no way there's no way that god would accept me amen and so as we go through all these verses verse after verse after verse after verse and your flesh tells you this is just boring amen i maybe that's true but just remember if you ever have any doubts this is how often god will tell you that you're saved amen that you're saved amen well at least for doubters like me every once in a while amen titus chapter 3 titus chapter 3 and verse 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done but according to his mercy he saved us by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the holy ghost you say well okay that's the word saved amen absolutely true but you've told us that that could mean something different that's true that's true so why don't we look up a different word why don't we look up a different word go with me to ephesians chapter 4 ephesians chapter 4 and verse 30 ephesians chapter 4 and verse 30 and grieve not the holy spirit of god whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption you say well let's not use the word saved okay how about sealed sealed unto the day of redemption that sounds pretty good to me amen uh not to mention the one who did the sealing is god himself so that sounds good to me uh sealed unto the day of redemption that's that's fair go with me to second corinthians chapter 1 second corinthians chapter 1 and verse 22 uh let's start in verse 21 just for context now he which set us now he which establisheth us with you in christ and hath anointed us is god who hath also sealed us and given us the earnest of the spirit in our hearts amen
[16:07] uh sealed um ephesians chapter 1 ephesians chapter 1 and verse 12 we'll start there ephesians chapter 1 and verse 12 that we should be to the praise of his glory who first trusted in christ in whom ye also trusted after that ye heard the word of truth the gospel of your salvation in whom also after that ye believed you were sealed with that holy spirit of promise which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession under the praise of his glory we are sealed amen well uh yeah okay we're sealed we're saved uh how about another one go with me to john chapter 3 john chapter 3 we're going to start of course in verse 1 um one of the i'll tell you a secret one of the other reasons why i would teach this lesson is this imagine if you really got a hold of this and i'm guessing most of you if not all of you are in here already have you are absolutely 100 sure that you are saved amen how should that affect your life i mean you are free from all sin amen you've been forgiven you are guaranteed a place in heaven this world is no longer your home you're just a passing through your treasure anyways thank god you're saved amen amen john chapter 3 and verse 1 there was a man of the pharisees named nicodemus a ruler of the jews the same came to jesus by night and said unto him rabbi we know that thou art a teacher come from god for no man can do these miracles that thou doest except god be with him okay side note isn't jesus cool amen i mean you know i had heroes back when i was lost and man it's funny looking back now i mean you know like this guy can throw a ball into a a cylinder amen he can throw it into a hoop amen wow all right now that's that's pretty impressive i guess amen my savior raises the dead amen sorry continuing on we're on saved we're on saved amen uh still on verse 2 rabbi we know that thou art a teacher come from god for no man do us the miracles that thou doest except god be with him jesus answered and said unto him verily verily i say unto thee except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of god nicodemus saith unto him how can a man be born when he is old can he enter the second time into his mother's womb and be born jesus answered verily verily i say unto thee except a man be born again or excuse me except a man be born of water and of the spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of god that which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the spirit is marvel not that i said unto thee ye must be born again the wind bloweth where it listeth and now hearest the sound thereof but canst not tell whence it cometh and whither it goeth so is everyone that is born of the spirit nicodemus answered and said unto him how can these things be jesus answered and said unto him art thou a master of israel and knowest not these things as a preacher i tend to be i i tend to be kind of mean to people in the bible you know why did he do that why did he ask this
[20:07] question amen i think it's a really good question amen for you ladies in here amen um i'll probably say this wrong and i apologize ahead of time but um uh having a baby i've been told is is one of the most painful ordeals there is in life amen i am now bigger than my mom i am taller i'm wider i'm heavier amen and so yes how could we be born again amen i understand the physical birth but he asked this good question and i think it's recorded not only to to show that that if you're if you're studying the bible you should understand this this concept but also so that we can understand it better ourselves amen the answer is this you must be born again and the interesting part to me or one of the interesting parts is this it's not the question he asked go with me back to to verse two the same came to jesus by night and said unto him rabbi we know that thou art a teacher come from god for no man can do these miracles that thou doest except god be with him jesus totally bypasses what he's talking about he says here's what's most important to you you must be born again you must be born again amen if you're witnessing to people and they try to get you on a different track which they often do amen well what about the dinosaurs well what about that person in the the country that's never heard well what about you know what about what about what about what about just try and remember in your mind there's one thing that's really important for this person you must be born again you must be born again you can talk about those other things however the lord leads you but you must be born again uh i i know it's a dumb statement but are you being borning right now hi i'm i'm still being borning i'm being born i am borning i don't know being born i guess amen i'm still being born no no that's not how it works is it amen each and every one of you has a birthday a physical birthday why because it happened on a specific day at a specific time in a specific place salvation is the same most people that you talk to outside of this church amen will tell you they're still being born that's an interesting concept to me amen how old are you i'm 42 years old man whoo talk about labor amen that's that's rough amen for you moms out here i'm not trying to bring back any bad memories amen but but 42 years of birthing man that that's that's exciting amen i i don't know that i'd sign up for that amen they're still being born and again i i might be jumping the gun but do you have a spiritual birthday they told me to i'll tell you one trick though they told me to write it down when i got saved i got saved in church amen um they gave me a beautiful example amen and and witnessed to me showed me in the bible how i could be saved amen and when i got saved they told me to write the date down because this will be important to you i did not write the date down amen i cannot tell you the day that on my birth certificate in heaven it has the date i don't amen but was there a time in your life where you accepted the lord jesus christ and you were born again amen uh i've kind of lost where i'm at in my notes amen so let's see let's go to colossians chapter 2 i'm saved i'm sealed i'm born again
[24:13] colossians chapter 2 and verse 13 colossians chapter 2 and verse 13 and you being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh have the quickened together with him having forgiven you all trespasses blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us which was contrary to us and took it out of the way nailing it to his cross and having spoiled principalities and powers he made a show of them openly triumphing over them in it amen quickened together brought to life amen there's another one for you uh john chapter 1 john chapter 1 john chapter 1 and verse 10 of course talking about jesus christ he was in the world and the world was made by him and the world knew him not he came unto his own and his own received him not but as many as received him to them gave he power to become the sons of god even to them that believe on his name which were born not of blood nor the will of the flesh nor the will of man but of god and the word was made flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld his glory the glory as of the only begotten of the father full of grace and truth are you born again uh colossians chapter 2 colossians chapter 2 uh we'll start in verse 8 colossians chapter 2 and verse 8 beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit man i tell you this world amen that's a very fitting fitting passage amen after the tradition of men after the rudiments of the of the world and not after christ for in him dwells all the fullness of the godhead bodily and ye are complete in him which is the head of all principality and power in whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands and putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of christ buried with him in baptism wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of god who hath raised him from the dead and you being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh hath he quickened together with him having forgiven you all trespasses blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us which was contrary to us and took it out of the way nailing it to his cross spiritual circumcision amen um i won't go into too much detail on that one uh go with me to romans chapter 8 romans chapter 8 while i was driving here
[28:14] i tend to get preachy while i while i teach amen but just forgive me amen while i was driving here amen there's certain freeways that i take and what happens is i drive up from san pedro so i take the 110 freeway and then i eventually cut off onto the 405 north and as i do there's this humongous sign amen and it's about the california lottery and it has little digital numbers on there and on one side i forget what the names are one's powerball and what's the other one oh some of you know come on amen we're not gonna church you for no one amen but anyways there's two on there there's two numbers amen and each one of them is the number of millions of dollars that you will win if you win that particular mega jackpot mega mega anyways there's two numbers amen and so so each time i take this freeway i look at the numbers i do i do amen i want to win the lottery i don't even play and i still want to win the lottery so i drive this way and i drive and each time i take this this this turn off amen and i get onto the other freeway i see these numbers on there amen and here's the here's the funniest part to me i i'm i'm figuring out how to spend it i'm figuring out how to spend this money that i have almost zero chance of winning and and by the way i don't even play the lottery and i'm figuring out how i would spend this money amen and i'm driving along and i look at the number and and i am a little spiritual amen one says like 150 million and the other says like 280 million i say you know what i'll just take the 150 amen i'll just you know 280 is probably a little too much for me 150 i can i can do i can do all right on 150 150 million and i and i look at this sign and i think to myself man you know the house is first imagine 10 percent to the church woo i tell you what not anyways we're not so you look at like that's 150 million you know we live in california so they're going to take over 50 percent that's still all right at 150 million i mean we're down to 75 let's say they take a little extra so i'm down to 70 million amen i get 15 million to the church amen i'm down to 55 million i think i can barely make it on 55 million i'm buying myself a house i'm doing all this stuff amen and i'm thinking about all these things that i would do this with this money that i'll never have amen but i want you to think about just this one thing imagine if you won the lottery and be kind to yourself say you won the 280 instead amen just be unspiritual for a second would you be excited about that have you ever been to a sporting event amen have you ever been to a sporting event where their team is losing i mean it's 15 to 0 the dodgers are getting killed i know there's at least one dodgers fan in here that's why i said it ha ha ha amen so the dodgers are getting killed it's 15 to 0 and they're just like oh man but then then grand slam 15 to 0 15 all of a sudden 15 to 9 15 to 10 they're starting to get excited 15 to 14 we could win this they're winning 18 to 15 they win the game ah woo they're running around they're screaming they're yelling they're excited i can't believe we won that game woo amen for the dodgers you win the lottery now there might be somebody in here like this yay i won that's a blessing
[32:14] amen where do i collect this amount oh i drive up the coast okay um i'll grab map quest let's head on out amen oh yes another left amen you are saved you are forgiven of all your sins you are sealed unto the day of redemption amen let's keep going let's keep going amen romans chapter 8 and verse 15 romans chapter 8 and verse 15 you know when i drive back i'm probably going to look in my rearview mirror for the numbers i'll let you know what they are amen romans chapter 8 verse 15 amen for you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear but you have received the spirit of adoption whereby we cry abba father you've been saved you've been sealed you've been forgiven of all your sins what are the other ones somebody tell me you've been born again amen by the way you've also been adopted into god's family not bad not bad i mean you know considering all things amen he's kind of a rich person i almost a guy there's something he's kind of a rich entity amen you know the whole creator thing that's pretty cool amen verse 16 the spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit that we are the children of god go with me to galatians chapter 4 galatians chapter 4 and verse 4 galatians chapter 4 and verse 4 says there is one body and one spirit even as you are called in one hope of your calling verse 5 one lord one faith one baptism one god and father of all who is above all and through all and in you all but unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of christ wherefore he saith when he ascended up on high he led captivity captive and gave gifts unto men i missed my i am in ephesians amen that's why thank you brother amen you know how sharp i am amen i've already missed two verses let's just keep going anyway so galatians chapter 4 and verse 4 probably says something a little more notable for our thing yeah but when the fullness of time was come god sent forth his son made of a woman made under the law to redeem them that were under the law that we might receive the adoption of sons and because your sons god hath sent forth the spirit of his son into your hearts crying abba father wherefore there are no more a servant but a son and if a son then an heir of god through christ now go to ephesians amen ephesians chapter 1 amen ephesians chapter 1 and verse 3 blessed be the god and father of our lord jesus christ who hath blessed
[36:15] us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in christ according as he has chosen us in him before the foundation of the world that we should be holy and without blame before him in love having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by jesus christ to himself according to the good pleasure of his will now just as a side note predestinated you'll notice you'll notice that that's always associated with those that accept jesus christ once you've accepted jesus christ you are sealed you are saved you are adopted amen all those things and so once you do that your destination is determined amen as one guy said it i always like this when he was preaching he said if you didn't want to go to heaven you should have thought of that before you got saved amen because now it's too late amen it's too late now amen should have thought that earlier amen let me tell you an interesting thought about adoption now i know god is not subject to our laws but there's an interesting thing about adoption in our country and that is this if you have a child you can actually renounce them you can give them up that is no longer my child wash your hands of them now of course i would never ever suggest this amen but the reason i bring it up is this you can get rid of your firstborn but if you adopt somebody that's a legal transaction from the second you adopt somebody that is it they are yours forever more it's legally binding it's settled it's over they are yours forever and ever you can't give up on them not that you ever should isn't it interesting that god could choose us and adopt us forever and ever and ever and ever the adopted son is always yours better way of looking at it is this the child has that parent forever amen go with me to
[39:03] Ephesians you're in Ephesians go with me to chapter 2 verses 8 and 9 most of you can quote this amen Ephesians chapter 2 verses 8 and 9 says this for by grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourselves it is the gift of god not of works lest any man should boast if you were to go to Romans chapter 10 and verse 9 Romans chapter 10 and verse 9 most of you probably already know it but it says for whosoever shall call upon the name of the lord shall be saved you see Ephesians chapter 2 verses 8 and 9 says you can't work for it and the way I usually say it is this if you could work for salvation then why did Jesus die but my favorite word in that bible when I first got saved was back there in Romans chapter 10 verse 9 when it says whosoever shall call upon the name of the lord shall be saved because I was whosoever amen doesn't matter who you are doesn't matter what you've done doesn't matter what side of the tracks you were born on who your parents are how tall you are how much hair you have amen it just means whosoever shall call upon the name of the lord shall be saved salvation is a glorious and wonderful gift it is a doctrine in the bible it is something that you could not give up if you wanted to not that you ever would go with me to 2nd timothy chapter 2 2nd timothy chapter 2 and verse 13 if we believe not yet he abideth faithful he cannot deny himself you are made part of jesus christ you are sealed you are saved you are born of god go with me to james chapter 1 james chapter 1 and verse 21 james chapter 1 and verse 21 wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness and receive with meekness the engrafted word which is able to save your souls not only are you saved not only are you sealed not only are you born again not only are you adopted into god's family not only are you spiritually circumcised not only are you made part of christ amen never to leave again but you can base it on the word of god and that's what everything you do should be based on amen receive the engrafted word it's able to save your souls amen but please allow me to get just a little preachy amen well let me say this last or next to last you'll notice that circumcision birth and adoption all have a place a time and a date a birth where
[43:04] were you born I was born in a hospital in Covina amen not west Covina I know I know there's actually a place called Covina amen I was born in Covina amen on September 25th amen so birthday cards I love them amen gift cards there's a specific date and a time and a location where I was born is there a specific date and time and location where you were born again and then let me end by saying it this way if you won the lottery tell me you wouldn't celebrate a little amen if you were saved born again sealed forgiven of all your sins and adopted into the family of God to be placed in heaven for all of eternity I think you should be a little excited about that I think there should be just a little bit of joy in your life over the fact that you are now part of God's family I think that there should be just a little bit of joy a little bit of excitement and especially a lot a lot of praise that goes towards God because of all that he's already done for us amen so although
[44:17] I've probably bored you to death with this lesson amen just remember that there is something exciting that's happened in your life and maybe you just shouldn't get over it amen because God says it a bunch of different ways but the fact is this you got saved amen let's pray heavenly father I thank you lord that you give life and breath lord and I'm especially thankful that you give a second birth lord help us to tell the lost and dying world of what you've done lord help us to to do it with the right heart lord help us to do it fervently lord and with an excitement about us lord that they might wonder what's happened to us lord thank you for all that you do please bless this lesson and help it to go where you'd like it to go and I pray and ask for these blessings in Jesus holy name amen
