[0:00] is it time to start oh hey good morning hey hey all right good morning to everybody welcome glad you can be here and this is today's gonna be great it's gonna be really fun I've actually wanted to do this for a while my mom I was talking to my mom yesterday she's like so what are you preaching on tomorrow I'm not preaching no come on Jim I'm not preaching I'm serious I said actually we're just gonna cut out and just go to Dunkin Donuts or something like that she's like no you're not like no we're not but then I told her I said what we're gonna do we're gonna have an extended time today where we sing and read scripture together and what I want to do my desire was to have us focus on the aspects of the gospel welcome to Cottonwood Bible Church we're gonna focus on the gospel this morning so we're gonna have the four aspects and elements of the gospel where you'll see focusing on who God is we are as sinners our need for Jesus and it's gonna be a lot of emphasis upon Jesus who he is and what he's done for us and then at that part it'll kind of culminate with the partaking of the Lord's Supper together and then response we're gonna have a response to that where we respond in a repentant faith repentance and trusting in Christ and Christ alone and saying you have my life

[1:34] I love you so that's kinda that's the direction we're going this morning so I have 11 songs we're gonna sing 11 songs and you'll get breaks don't worry I'll give you breaks so you're not gonna extend your voice that much but and then also I asked some guys just to help me out they're gonna be reading us scripture excuse me reading us scripture to get us focused on the aspect of who God is of our sin of the Lord Jesus Christ and a response to that so they're gonna be helping us out with that so that's gonna be our morning here together and by the way you might be visiting no we don't normally do this this is just a one time thing we're kind of in between I finished the book of Judges but if you if you are visiting you know there's a card there you can fill out that card and put it here on the offering plates or you can put it there on the table in the lobby you can fill that out so this is kind of different we're not we don't normally do this but it was we wanted to do something different and really try to help us as a church to focus on the gospel and to really emphasize these four key elements of the gospel who God is he is holy he deserves our praise who we are we're sinners he should condemn us who Jesus is the God man who lived died and rose from the dead and our response repent and believe like the song we're gonna end with when I surveyed the wondrous cross love so amazing love so divine demands my soul my all we're gonna sing that so that's kind of the response that we have in the gospel towards the Lord Jesus Christ so that's what's gonna be happening this morning and I'm oh the other thing

[3:17] I wanted to make mention to you before we begin excuse me I'm gonna have you like standing at certain aspects and then sitting at certain aspects but if if there's too much standing for you you don't need to stand you can you know sit down but I'm just gonna have a stand at different aspects different times within the service a little bit more times than what we normally have but if it's too much for you and you're like I just need to stay seated that's fine don't feel bad about that because I totally understand but you will I'll ask you to stand at certain points and then sit and definitely when we're gonna be partaking of the Lord's Supper we'll be able to sit and be able to focus and concentrate and direct our thoughts to our Lord and what He's done for us so with that said we'll see if my fingers hold up for all these songs we'll start out singing lift high the name of Jesus please stand and don't forget to clap for this one lift high the name of Jesus of Jesus our King make known the power of His grace the beauty of His peace remember how

[4:45] His mercy reached and we cried out to Him we lifted us to solid ground to freedom from our sins oh see my soul and tell all He's done till the earth and heavens are filled with His glory lift high the name of Jesus of Jesus our Lord His power in us is greater is greater than this world to share the reason for our hope to serve with love and grace that all who see Him shine for us might bring the Father for praise oh see my shine for us might bring the Father for praise oh see my soul and tell all He's done lift high the name of Jesus of Jesus our life no other name on earth can save can raise us to life

[18:51] Who Jesus is And what He's done The Father sent The glorious Christ The Radiance of the Father Before the dawn of time You spoke and all creation Came to me The molecules and planets Reveal Your great design And everyone was made

[19:52] So we could see So we could see You are the glorious Christ The greatest of all delights Your power is unequal Your love beyond all heights No greater sacrifice When You lay down your life We join the song of angels Who praise You day and night Glorious Christ You left the air of heaven To be the dust of earth

[23:26] I will glory in my Redeemer Whose priceless blood Has ransomed me Mine was the sin That grew of the bitter nails And hung Him on that judgment tree I will glory in my Redeemer Who crushed the power Of sin and death My only Savior Before the Holy Judge The Lamb who crushed the Lamb The Lamb who is my righteousness The Lamb who is my righteousness The Lamb who is my righteousness

[24:26] I will glory in my Redeemer My life He bought My life He bought My love He owns I have no longings For another I'm satisfied in Him alone I will glory in my Redeemer My Redeemer And my Redeemer His faithfulness My standing place Though foes are mighty And rush upon me My feet are firm Held by His grace My feet are firm

[25:27] Held by His grace My feet are firm Held by His grace My feet are firm Held by His grace My feet are firm Held by His grace and the fellowship building to see if the fire alarm's going off it is in there turn off the amp turn off the amp or the speaker turn off the power switch it's what it's the battery backup do you want to go back oh intermission don't turn off the system or ruin everything just unplug it how many people does it take to stop a very loud screeching noise three that's good it reminds me to change my song because the last song we did

[28:01] I forgot to change my song so I was going based on memory I'm like oh no here we go I'm watching my wife's lips I hope you know what's going on because I don't never had that one happen before don't stand up yet we'll stand up in just a moment okay yeah just leave me on I'll unmute myself unmute oh okay I just didn't want okay sorry how deep the father's love okay yeah how do we do this get back into my mode how deep the father's love for us how vast beyond all measure that he should give his only son to make a wretch his treasure how great the pain of searing loss the father turns his face away as wounds which mar the chosen one bring many sons to glory behold the man upon the cross behold the man upon the cross my sin upon his shoulders ashamed I hear my mocking voice go out among the scoffers it was my sin that held him there until it was accomplished his dying breath has brought me life

[30:54] I know that it is changed I will not boast in anything no gifts no power no wisdom but I will boast in Jesus Christ his death and resurrection why should I gain from his reward I cannot give an answer but this I know with all my heart his wounds have paid my ransom love for sow

[32:13] Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer, but this I know with all my heart.

[32:34] His wounds have paid my ransom. His wounds have paid my ransom.

[32:47] How I love the voice of Jesus.

[33:12] On the cross of Calvary, He declares His work is finished. He has spoken this hope to me.

[33:27] Though the sun has ceased shining, though the war appeared as lost, Christ had triumphed over evil.

[33:41] It was finished upon that cross. Now the curse, it has been broken.

[33:59] Jesus prayed the price for me. For the pardon He has offered, Great the welcome that I receive.

[34:13] Boldly I approach the Father, Clothed in Jesus' righteousness. There is no more guilt to give.

[34:27] It was finished upon that cross. Now you can stand.

[34:40] Death was once my great opponent. Fear once had a hold on me. But the Son who died to save us Rose that we would be free.

[35:24] And be free from every plan of darkness. Free to live and free to love.

[35:35] Death is dead and Christ is risen. It was finished upon that cross. Onward to eternal glory.

[35:49] To my Savior and my God. I rejoice in Jesus' victory. It was finished upon that cross.

[36:03] It was finished upon that cross. It was finished upon that cross. Now you get to do some reading yourselves out loud.

[36:28] Romans chapter 5 verses 8 through 11. Let's read this out loud together. But God proves His own love for us.

[36:38] And that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, since we have now been justified by His blood, we will be saved through Him from wrath.

[36:55] For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, then how much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by His life?

[37:12] And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received this reconciliation.

[37:35] You love us in Your Son. Thank You, Father, for sending Your Son who completed the work on the cross for us as sinners. And we celebrate that today.

[37:48] We celebrate death. We celebrate shamefulness. We celebrate nakedness. For Christ died.

[37:59] Christ was shamed. Christ was naked on the cross. And yet, in that looks like defeat and failure. No, it's a victory and conquest and the conquering of sin so that we could be in Your presence.

[38:15] Amazing grace. What great love. Don't do that again.

[38:37] What love, my God, would bring you down to earth? What game would take a low and lonely birth?

[38:54] Yet to this dark and broken place You came to sleep beneath the stars that You had made?

[39:06] What love, my God, would send the way of life to walk the road?

[39:19] To walk the road rejected and despised that You might know the weakness I possess and be my rock of strength and righteousness.

[39:38] O your love, my God, my God, like a flood.

[39:48] As heaven opened up, pouring out on us, O praise the King who came to the world.

[40:02] O Lord, my God, who came to the world in His love like a mighty fire. What love, my God, could hold you to the tree to bear that overwhelming debt for me?

[40:33] The Son of heaven leaves the Father's side. The Healer bleeds the life was made to die.

[40:47] O your love, my God, like a flood.

[40:57] As heaven opened up, pouring out on us, O praise the King who came to the world in His love like a mighty fire.

[41:29] What love, my God, so gracious and extreme. Who was strong enough to come and fight for me?

[41:41] To go through hell, then down into the grave. And raise me up to see You face to face.

[41:56] You raise me up to see You face to face. You face to face. Oh, your love, my God, like a flood.

[42:11] As heaven opened up, pouring out on us, O praise the King who came to the world in His love like a mighty fire.

[42:31] O your love, my God, like a flood. As heaven opened up, pouring out on us, O praise the King who came to the world in His love like a mighty flood.

[42:58] In His love like a mighty flood. O praise the King You may be seated.

[43:18] O praise the King I'm reading from Matthew chapter 26, verses 26 to 29.

[43:35] And while they were eating, Jesus took bread. After blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples and said, Take, eat.

[43:47] This is My body. And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them saying, Drink from it, all of you. This is My blood of the covenant which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.

[44:06] But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father's kingdom.

[44:19] So now this is the time to prepare our hearts to partake the Lord's Supper. I'll give you some instructions as we do that. I'll be playing some things on my guitar and you'll have some time to pray, to examine your heart, to remind yourself of gospel truth that we just sang about and read about in Scripture.

[44:41] There's forgiveness, there's justification. God's wrath has been satisfied. The Father is pouring His love out on you, O Christian, because of Jesus.

[44:53] So you're, you're, you're, you're, you're bathing in that. You're, you're relishing in that truth. Okay. And then after some few moments, I'll have you come and you can come as you see fits to come and make sure you take both cups because remember there's, the, the bread is on top and then underneath that is the juice.

[45:13] Make sure you take both cups with you when you come in and take the elements. And then after, I think we'll sing like maybe a verse or two of the song and then we're gonna take the elements together. Okay.

[45:24] So again, take this time to reflect upon the gospel. Oh, and by the way, if you're here visiting, you're not a member of this church, if you're from a church of like faith and practice, we would prefer you're baptized by immersion.

[45:37] If you're from a church of like faith and practice, you can partake of the Lord's Supper with us. Don't feel like you're saying, oh, I'm not a member. Unless you're saying, hey, I'm not a member, I don't feel comfortable taking it. That's fine.

[45:47] I mean, there's no pressure from us for you to do that. But you're welcome to do that with us. But if you're not a Christian, it's not for you. This is the sign of the gospel for you to see.

[45:58] And we're gonna partake of this together. So, take this time a few moments to reflect upon gospel truth as I play a little bit on the guitar. There is no sin that I have done that has such height and breadth.

[46:29] It can't be washed in Jesus' blood or covered by His death.

[46:42] There is no spot that still remains, no cause to hide my face.

[46:54] For He has stooped to wash me clean and covered me with grace.

[47:05] There is no wrath that I will know, no wormwood and no gall.

[47:28] for those such wounds and grief I earned, my Savior bore them all.

[47:41] There is no work that I must add to stand before His throne.

[47:53] I only plead His life and death sufficient on their own.

[48:05] sufficient on their own. on their own. on their own. on their own. on their own. on their own. on their own. on their own.

[48:16] on their own. on their own.

[48:26] on their own. On their own.

[48:40] Jesus, thank you that you bore all our sins so we will not face wrath.

[49:03] We will not face the bitterness of judgment, of condemnation and damnation. And there's nothing we will ever do, ever done and ever will do, to add to this so we can stand before you justified, no nothing.

[49:31] We can only plead as we sang, Jesus, life and death, he was the perfect sacrifice, showed it by perfectly obeying you, that, that alone is sufficient.

[49:55] So we celebrate this. We celebrate forgiveness that comes in you, Lord Jesus. We celebrate justification. We celebrate you.

[50:07] Then now we have eternal life, which is knowing you, the only true God in Jesus Christ, whom you've sent. So let's partake of the elements together, the bread and the juice.

[50:33] there is no work, there is no work, that I must stand, to stand before his throne.

[51:07] I only plead his life and death, sufficient on their own.

[51:18] When we celebrate your throne. We celebrate the featuring some of their record, each other and every fourth place. So we celebrate the Congratulations and this is a wonderful fact.

[51:34] See you soon. So this is our response.

[51:50] We respond to the Lord. We've repented. We've trusted in Christ alone. And then we go out from here saying, you have my heart. You have my all.

[52:01] I'm living for you because I love you so much, Lord Jesus, when I survey the wondrous cross. When I survey the wondrous cross On which the Prince of Glory died My richest gain I count by loss And poor contempt on all my pride Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast

[53:16] Save in the death of Christ my God All the vain things that charm me most I sacrifice them to His blood See from His head His hands, His feet Sorrow and love Foming go down Dear, there's such love

[54:19] And sorrow may O'er thorns compose So rich a cry Were the whole realm of nature mine That were a present far too small Love so amazing So divine Demons my soul My life

[55:21] My all All to Jesus All to Jesus I surrender All to you I freely live I will ever love Love and trust you And trust you In your presence I will live All to Jesus I surrender All to you I freely live I will ever love And trust you In your presence I will live Love so amazing So divine Demons my soul

[56:25] My life My life My all Great father Thank you For loving us Lord Jesus Thank you You loved us You gave yourself for us And great spirit Thank you That you worked in our hearts Changed our wills So we would run into the arms of Jesus All of this By your grace Through faith alone We trust in you Oh Christ alone May this gospel truth Remind us Be a remembrance to us This whole week Even this day May it begin As we begin this new week Whatever is before us May we remember these gospel truths May we remember you Oh Lord Jesus

[57:25] Deepen our love for you This love which demands Our all So we give you our all We give you our all This week And that we would be a people That display the same Gracious love and compassion Towards each other As your church And that we would proclaim This gospel of grace To those around us They need to hear About this message Of forgiveness Of this message Of love and compassion That comes through you Lord Jesus Help us to be faithful To that Thank you for this time For us to gather together And to give you the praise And thanks that you deserve In your name Jesus We pray Amen Amen ...
