Our Lord extends an invitation. There is a place at His table. He calls us to partake of the feast. Question is, how will you respond to His invitation? A message preached at Church For You, Elizabeth Park, South Australia, on 10 May 2020. www.cforu.net
[0:00] An invitation is extended. John 21 verse 12, Jesus saith unto them,! It's a feast, a time of joy.
[0:34] Matthew 5 verse 6, It says, Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. Come to him.
[0:46] John 7 verse 37, In the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried. It's got the sense that he shouted out. As in Matthew 27 verse 50, He shouted out.
[0:59] He's saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink. That's the sense of it here, that Jesus is calling, Jesus is inviting, Jesus is beckoning.
[1:12] He says, Come. How will you respond to his invitation? That is the question. As we come to the table of the Lord, we come to this time of remembering of Christ's death on our part, of his piercing, of his beating, of his bruising, of his pouring out his life for us.
[1:39] We say thank you to him. We come unto him and we acknowledge our great need of his saving and the great provision that he has made.
[1:49] You might want to take some bread and cup. Even now, just to reflect and remember, to recall, to refresh that love, that encounter with God as he extends that invitation.
[2:06] He says, Come unto me. And if you've yet to trust him, all the better, trust him now. Trust him now. Accept his invitation. Receive his invitation. Says, Yes, I will come.
[2:17] And come to him. Come to him. Come unworthy. Come unclean. Come simply to receive his saving. And know his saving.
[2:28] Know he has come for you. Come unto him. And receive his saving. Receive, as by faith you trust him, his great gift of his love for you.
