False Christs - Another Jesus?

[0:00] Amen. Please be seated.

[0:13] And let's go to the Word of God together to 2 Corinthians.! The Word of God, 2 Corinthians 11. 2 Corinthians 11, verse 4.

[0:48] Talking about another Jesus. Another Jesus or counterfeit Christ. 2 Corinthians 11, verse 4 it says, Paul writes, For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

[1:15] It goes on further in verse 13. For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ, and no marvel, for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

[1:34] Therefore it is no great thing, if his ministers also be transformed, as the ministers of righteousness, his angel be according to their works.

[1:46] Let's pray. Lord, we thank you for your Word now. Open it, Lord, we pray. Give us wisdom and learning. Help us, Lord, to be a discerning people, to receive your truth, and to note and refrain away from that which is false and deceiving.

[2:05] Lord, help us that we might be led by your Spirit into all truth, as you tell us you will. In Jesus' name. Amen. Paul issues a word of warning here, and he warns of a different Jesus.

[2:19] Verse 4 tells of another Jesus, another spirit, another gospel. And it goes on, in 13 to 15, it tells of Satan himself, being like an angel of light, and his ministers, as ministers of righteousness.

[2:40] So there's much warning here for us, of a different Jesus, really an imposter. An imposter. A counterfeit spirit.

[2:53] A counterfeit gospel. And a counterfeit Jesus. Now, it's a fact that there's counterfeit money in Australia.

[3:06] Counterfeit. And we could be innocently deceived to think that that note that we receive is real. But when it's seen for what it is, it's just worthless.

[3:21] It's a worthless piece of paper. It's a counterfeit. And the Bible tells of a counterfeit Christ. Really, an imposter, a pretender.

[3:32] And the Lord warns us to beware of such, lest we follow another Jesus. So, in this message, I'm going to share with you some of these counterfeit Jesus.

[3:47] These, these counterfeit Christs that are all around and being promoted right across the world today. And it's as if you can pick and choose which Jesus you want.

[4:03] Different styles of Jesus. Like, there's a smorgasbord of them. You can take your pick and you can select one that may suit your own particular preferences.

[4:17] It's almost like there's a Jesus for everybody now. As we see, as it's been said at times, often, like, for example, in countries like America where there's the Bible Belt, it's like everybody's born again.

[4:31] It's kind of almost the dumb thing to do in some communities or in some political circles in America where it's almost like you get more votes if you say you're a Christian.

[4:44] There's that kind of thing. A lot of people claiming to be Christians who aren't really fair dinkin'. And there's like a different Jesus to suit your particular preferences. And the name of Jesus is used but this Jesus is different from the biblical Jesus.

[5:02] And that's how we can discern what's real and not real. A Jesus of our own liking would appeal to many because it can fit in with their lifestyle.

[5:14] They don't need to make any changes. And it suits their own carnal mind. What Jesus will you follow is a big question. A Jesus who's been custom designed by some religious leader or the Jesus of the Bible.

[5:33] It's a big question. And he challenges us. Our Lord says to us he says who do you say that I am? It's important that we discern the real from the false.

[5:46] So let me give you some examples of these counterfeits. So you can have your mind switched on to take note of this.

[5:57] to take note of how these Jesuses so called are different from the biblical Jesus because that's really important to see the difference.

[6:09] So bear with me as I tell you about these false Jesuses that I certainly don't want you to follow and I certainly don't want you to believe but just so you can contrast the false with the real.

[6:23] Okay number one here will you follow the Mormon Jesus the Mormon Jesus let me tell you about him let me introduce you to the Mormon Jesus he is a brother to the devil he was born to the physical union of God the father once a man Adam and Mary this Jesus had children he had children with more than one woman the Mormon Jesus was crucified because he practiced polygamy the Mormon Jesus did not pay for the sins of the world on the cross but in the garden of Gethsemane and the Mormon Jesus his sacrifice was not sufficient you still have to work your way to heaven that's the Mormon Jesus and this

[7:24] Jesus let me tell you about the Mormon Jesus this Jesus could not maintain his church but had to commission a lying swindling occult babbling womanizing pedophiliac adulterer freemason a con artist known for telling tall tales to translate an ancient and inspired book that no one else got to see that needed almost 4,000 corrections changes and alterations since its first publication and to restore the church that this Jesus could not keep together the Jesus the Mormon Jesus lost it for a few hundred years before Joseph Smith came along and told the world about him and I know in my book collection I've got an old book of

[8:24] Mormon it's an old book of Mormon not the one they use presently but an old book of Mormon an earlier edition and they've changed it since then they've actually edited it and changed it they've made corrections from that version I think there's earlier versions than the one I've got that the Mormon Jesus' book the book of Mormon has had it's needed some 4,000 corrections in it for this supposedly perfectly translated book by Joseph Smith so that's the Mormon Jesus do you want him you may prefer the Jehovah's witness Jesus the Jehovah's witness Jesus let me tell you about the Jehovah's witness Jesus he is a created being not the creator and he is Michael the archangel the Jehovah's witness Jesus he is not God big G but only a

[9:26] God small G a God which makes you if you believe in the Jehovah's witness Jesus it makes you a poly theist in other words you believe in lots and lots or more than one God poly meaning many the Mormon Jesus will condemn you for celebrating your birthday or giving your child a life saving blood transfusion the Mormon Jesus did not die on a cross sorry oh yeah I'm getting mixed up sorry I'm talking about the JW Jesus here the Jehovah's witness Jesus will not will condemn you for celebrating your birthday for giving your child blood the Jehovah's witness Jesus did not die on a cross but on an upright stake and the Jehovah's witness Jesus his body is unaccounted for and still missing today because he did not rise physically from the dead but only raised spiritually so they're still looking for him wherever he is his body this Jesus and the Jehovah's witness

[10:41] Jesus his sacrifice was insufficient because you still have to earn your own salvation you've got to make it on your own effort and in spite of accepting worship from those around him in the Bible the Jehovah's witness Jesus does not want you to worship him so he's different from the one in the book do you want the Jehovah's witness Jesus what about the Roman Catholic Jesus you may want to follow the Roman Catholic Jesus now you know there's some closeness but we know that the Roman Catholic Jesus is a different one from the biblical Jesus let me tell you why he is a co-savior and co-mediator with the Virgin Mary the Roman Catholics elevate the Virgin Mary such that she is a co-savior and a co-redeemer with the Roman

[11:47] Catholic Jesus and the Roman Catholic Jesus dies continually for man's sins in the Roman Catholic Mass the Roman Catholic Jesus is bound to take orders from his mortal mother who he created she still tells him what to do says yes mum the Roman Catholic Jesus Mary tells him what to do and he has to share his glory with the mortal human Mary and his death alone was not sufficient to fully atone for all sins so there's a need for some people to suffer punishment in purgatory in order that they may become fully purged purgatory purged of their sins and therefore pure enough to and acceptable enough to enter heaven so if he's your Jesus you might have to go to purgatory for a while and suffer before you're fully purged because his sacrifice is not enough his blood is not enough to save his soul and the Roman

[13:06] Catholic Jesus he sacrificed again and again and again every week and when they have funerals whatever they have these special ones that they got to flock out money to the priest for their loved ones even though the Bible says he was sacrificed once and for all never to be sacrificed again because human mortal priests have incredible power they think to call down this Roman Catholic Jesus from heaven and magically turn him into a wafer a circular piece of bread called a wafer a cracker the Roman Catholic Jesus they magically call him down and turn him into a cracker and wine that is the Roman Catholic Jesus his sacrifice was insufficient because you still have to merit your own salvation it's by your works that's the

[14:11] Roman Catholic Jesus do you want him you may choose the emergent liberal church Jesus the emergent Jesus the liberal Jesus let me tell you about him he's a hippie like figure peace man you can imagine long hair and all that and he no longer considers the Bible as the final authority this kind of emergent Jesus and this kind of Jesus and those who believe in him they they question the very scriptures such that they basically tear bits out and throw it away oh that's no longer relevant rip rip rip and they justify homosexuality and such things that the Bible very clearly tells us is error and sin and we should avoid it but this

[15:11] Jesus the emergent Jesus he no longer differentiates between the sheep and the goats between the wheat and the tears between truth and error between light and darkness the broad road and the narrow road he warmly welcomes various religious traditions and mystical practices his motto is come as you are and you can stay that way too because only Pharisees would tell you otherwise the emergent Jesus he never mentions your sinfulness or his holiness he just emphasises having a good time in church with a rock and praise band and he boasts of a fun atmosphere for kids and he believes that music reaches people in a way that the gospel can't it's a different emphasis altogether and he has a relevant message from the latest Hollywood movie and he offers free coffee and donuts in the lounge that's the emergent

[16:15] Jesus sorry he's not here tonight it'd be nice to have the donuts but now that's the emergent Jesus it's this kind of flaky kind of fake Jesus maybe you'll follow the charismatic word of faith Jesus let me tell you about him now again some of these Jesus is that there's a whole lot of truth in what some of these preachers and movements would say but it's that little bit of poison that does its dastardly work and let me tell you about the charismatic Jesus the word of faith Jesus and this Jesus he suffered in hell took the nature of Satan while on the cross the charismatic word of faith Jesus he was the first man to be born again making Christians into little gods and his message is to show you by his example how to prosper by sowing a financial seed of faith just put it in and you'll get this financial seed of faith and

[17:30] God will make you prosper that's how you know you're a real Christian because you'll be prosperous that's what the charismatic Jesus would tell you and he confirms your salvation by such outward expressions as being slain in the spirit and speaking in tongues such that some people think oh I haven't got it because I don't do that that's all they concentrate on and the emphasis is all skew with the charismatic Jesus he says that if you don't accept these strange doctrines then you're just not anointed enough and you're missing the anointing and the swacco things they say for example John Avanzini one of these prosperity preachers he says Jesus had a nice house a big house strange isn't it because the Jesus in the Bible says you know foxes have holes and birds have nests but the son of man has nowhere nowhere to lay his head he was homeless virtually but the charismatic

[18:37] Jesus he had a big house a nice house and John Avanzini says Jesus was handling big money you know they think because he had Judas as a treasurer that they somehow had a big wad of must have had big suitcases full of money that they carried around as if that's not the Jesus of the Bible it's just totally off off track totally off and Kenneth Copeland says Jesus was conquered by Satan on the cross and Satan took Jesus' spirit to the dark regions of hell as if as if Satan might have victory at the cross but no Satan was conquered at the cross amen that's what the Bible says there was triumph at the cross so will you follow the charismatic word of faith Jesus perhaps you still want to you'll want to follow the new age

[19:39] Jesus let me tell you about the new age Jesus he's a great teacher a great teacher an enlightened spiritual master an ascended master one of many an example for humanity the new age Jesus you can go down to the new age bookstore and you can read some extra stuff it's not in here there's some extra stuff that he's saying today and you can pay good money for some bad words of Jesus the supposed words of Jesus at the new age bookshop where someone's supposedly continuing to have revelations from this Jesus their Jesus and in fact anyone can be a Christ or tap into the Christ that's the new age Jesus and the new age Jesus he doesn't believe in sin holiness or redemption he's accepting just accepting wide open of all religions because he himself is just one just one of many paths to enlightenment you may choose to follow the kingdom now

[20:54] Jesus he died to restore man's dominion and can't come from heaven until man makes the earth right enough for his coming some people think that the Christians are going to take leadership in all kinds of manifestations running countries and taking over and the kingdom now kind of thinking is that somehow Christians are going to take over the world and make the world a better place and so it's like there won't be an antichrist that the world is just going to become a better place because Christians are going to take authority it would be nice to see more Christians in responsibilities but we know that the Bible says that really it's a falling away first a falling away first before the Lord Jesus comes that as much as

[21:55] God helping us it would be good to have some Christian politicians leaders in manifold areas of the world but we know that the reality is the biblical reality is that that is not something that the Bible foretells but this kingdom now kind of Jesus it's like he's got to wait till man fixes planet earth that's what's going on of course we have the other kind of philosophies I guess you could say the climate change Jesus or these kind of ideas that gay friendly kind of Jesus we've got some churches these ecumenical churches where everything's just so totally wishy-washy that it's just completely astray from the Bible and the Jesus that they're proclaiming the gospel of in word only because it's not the good news the gospel that they're proclaiming is a false message that's totally astraying from the word of

[23:01] God the Lord Jesus did not come so we could save the whales and save the planet in terms of the environment as much as we should be good stewards of it but that is not the focus whereas for these this false kind of Jesus this false kind of Christianity that puts the emphasis there they're missing the whole point in terms of saving the planet it's the message of the biblical Jesus is to save human souls is to broadcast God's message to humankind and see mankind trust in him the Lord Jesus of the Bible now you may like to follow the Muslim Jesus here's another one the Muslim Jesus he's a great man too they honour him and highly regard him they esteem him highly he is what they call a sinless prophet and teacher though not as great as Mohammed of course and he was born of a virgin yes but he was not the son of God they would not call him that and this

[24:12] Jesus did not atone for anyone's sins although he himself was sinless and he's one of those who are near to God and this Jesus the Muslim Jesus did not die on the cross wow do you want to follow him what about being the seeker friendly politically correct Jesus he's seeker friendly he's politically correct he'd just be so popular you would think and he is he is sanitized multi-faith he's a multi-faith Jesus and it's more palatable that way he makes no demands he makes no exclusive claims he's just very tolerant and inclusive and he gives a sugar-coated gospel that acknowledges many alternative ways of salvation hey all roads lead to heaven that's what he would say he is careful not to offend anyone and he teaches us by his example just how to get along with each other just get along now

[25:30] I'm telling you about these many varieties of Jesus because this is happening today these people are people are believing such things about their Jesus which is not the Bible Jesus it's false as the apostle said it's another Jesus for if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus whom we have not preached he says it's a falsehood I know in Galatians he says let him be accursed who preaches another Jesus another gospel but the fact is people here today I'm urging you just to wake up and see that this is happening these are counterfeits they are counterfeits they're just as useful as a counterfeit note in your wallet it's false it's vain it's evil it's deadly and at the end of the world people will believe the ultimate counterfeit the ultimate counterfeit the antichrist another

[26:49] Jesus another Jesus now I understand where it's saying antichrist it's got the sense of standing alongside Christ so it's like it's as much as we might think antichrist is against Christ which he would be against the real Christ but it's also got the sense of standing instead of the Christ he's in the stead of Christ he's instead of Christ he's in the place of Christ such that he takes the seat the throne that Christ would be due and worthy and rightfully ought to take the throne the antichrist the substitute Christ the one who's instead of Christ will assume that place of the real Christ the Lord Jesus Christ and the antichrist we see in the Bible you might want to take a concordance and look up the scriptures that tell us of the antichrist read in your

[27:51] Bible about this Christ because this Christ is yet to come and of this Christ this other imitation of Jesus he is going to make such wonderful claims everyone's going to love him it's not the whole world's going to virtually follow him and worship him and bow down to him and this antichrist this substitute imitation Jesus he will offer world peace wow wouldn't that be great wouldn't it world peace that's what we we're praying for and hoping for that one day there will be peace on this planet and he will offer great signs and wonders wow wouldn't that be great a Christ who comes who comes and he shows us great signs great wonders wow wouldn't that be great it would be on the world news every day wouldn't it the wonderful works of this Christ bringing peace in these war-torn areas of conflict in this war-torn planet this other

[28:57] Christ is going to come and he's going to promise and effect peace and great signs and wonders so we can't always believe what we hear and see especially when it comes from the world's media as such too and of course we know there's people on the earth today and you would see if you do some searching on the net you can see many examples of these false Christs people that come along and multitudes flock to them they come and just want to be in their presence I saw some fellow lately and it's like he just stands there and stares people think it's just such wow just want to be in his presence and he doesn't have to say anything people just they just look at him almost like a hypnotic look of his eyes and they just want to follow him because they look on him as a kind of a

[30:06] Christ a messiah figure and we need to be watchful and waking up to this is real it's happening it's happening today the song man claims to be Christ in Australia there's recent stories about multitudes go and live in his commune and want to be his devoted followers and they just get drawn in hook, line and sinker such that they're mesmerised by these people people and so!

[30:42] it's a real fact that many people are easily swayed and deceived by these things so the question for all of us of all these ones that I've named all these different ones that we've talked about is your Jesus the real one or a false one and to know and believe the real Jesus is critical I know there's some TV shows some while back where they had various people pretending to be a real character a real personality and that real person was amongst them but all the others were kind of pretending to be that real one and then I think the byline of the show will the real such and such stand up and so will the real Jesus stand up and that's I'd like to introduce you to him because that's really what matters and it's how you tell a counter for it from a real is get familiar with the real and so how do we get to know the real Jesus we get to know his real book what he has really said what he's really claimed to be what the

[31:50] Bible tells of him what he shows to us what he says to us which is recorded here between the pages of your Bible and the real Jesus is not a created being in Colossians 1 16 Paul tells that he is the creator for by him all things were created it says by him were all things created that are in heaven that are in earth visible and invisible whether they be thrones or dominions or principalities or powers all things were created by him and for him that's the real Jesus he is the creator because we know in John it says in the beginning was the word the word was with God and the word was God and all and it says that all things were made by him without him was not anything made that was made

[32:50] John 1 verse 1 he is the Jesus of the Bible this Jesus the Jesus of the Bible and really I like to call him the Lord Jesus not just because some just flippantly talk about oh Jesus this Jesus that he is the Lord Jesus the Bible says that we shall confess him as Lord we shall confess him as Lord and that is who he is he's the master and the Lord Jesus he claimed to be God in the form of man for example in John 10 30 he says I and my father are one I and my father are one in John 14 9 in part it says he that hath seen me hath seen the father this Jesus this Jesus is the sovereign it means king he's the rightful ruler and reiner of authority over this planet over the universe he is the mighty the holy the king of kings the lord of lords he is the chief cornerstone he is the alpha and the omega he is the son of

[34:12] God 1 Timothy 3 16 it tells us that great is the mystery of godliness God was manifest in the flesh seen manifest in the flesh justified in the spirit seen of angels preached to the gentiles believed on in the world received up into glory God manifest in the flesh such that he was a human being a real man a real genuine flesh and bones man with a sinless body and God was wrapped in that human skin God was manifest God was clothed in that human vessel of the man Jesus the real Jesus the real Lord Jesus so he is God in the flesh a completely sufficient saviour so you don't have to add your works you just have to trust trust him trust him trust his work to save you you don't earn it that's the big thing with all false religions there's a sense there's this expectation you've got to do something you've got to do something to earn it to deserve it to to be accepted you have to do something by your own fleshly effort your own human energy and your own human trying instead of trusting but the real Jesus says simply trust believe in me and you shall have eternal life he says he's a completely sufficient saviour and he is eternally existent he didn't have a beginning he was in the beginning he is eternally existent he is the creator of all things who is who was and who is to come who became flesh subject to no human he's not subject to nary to no human and he reigns over all he's above all he's over all his

[36:39] Christ is our sufficiency and he was born of a virgin and shed his precious blood for man's salvation he laid down his life upon a rugged cross and he took that life up again body and all on the third day he snatched the keys of hell he removed the sting from death he was conqueror he was not vanquished he was victorious and he is victorious over sin and death and hell for unto us a child is born unto us a son is given and the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name his name shall be called wonderful counsellor the mighty!

[37:23] God the everlasting father the prince of peace of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom to order it and to establish it from hence forth even forever the zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this the everlasting father the prince of peace his name shall be called wonderful the bible says there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved one name one Lord one saviour one hope one redeemer his yoke is easy and his burden is light he doesn't load us up with expectations it doesn't mean we should be slack but he doesn't weigh us down with loads of man-made rules and regulations his yoke is easy and his burden is light he is the prince of peace the great physician emmanuel god with us he is a stumbling block to the jews and foolishness to the gentiles he is the faultless sinless unblemished lamb of god the only mediator between god and men he is the narrow way not lots and lots of ways only one make sure you're on that one the narrow way christ he says to us i am the way the truth and the life no man cometh unto the father but by men he says i am the way the truth the life the lord jesus he is the one who is worthy worthy to receive glory and honour and power forever and ever amen he is the jesus of the bible and he is called god some would try to deny that try to downgrade him downrates him oh he's just a good prophet he's the best prophet he's the a good man best man who ever lived yes he is but he's more much much more than that he is god god manifest in the flesh and bow and thomas bowed the knee to him the resurrected lord jesus christ in john 20 28 and thomas answered and said unto him my lord and my god what a confession that he made and that can be your confession wouldn't that be wonderful if you've never said that before to the lord jesus my lord my your my lord and my my god my god make it personal call on his name and you will be saved but unto the son he saith thy throne oh god is forever and ever a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of thy kingdom now i've seen some royal thrones and royal scepters and royal jewels and uh but this throne this king this scepter this this majesty far outshines anything any earthly king or queen can ever wear thy throne oh god he says to the son the father says to the son thy throne oh god is forever and ever a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of thy kingdom have you accepted an artificial counterfeit jesus please don't do that rather the

[41:24] real one amen the real jesus he is lord he is almighty the king of kings and we could say so much more about him i know i've spent probably more time talking about the other jesus but it's just to be alert to that i think we need to be aware of that because the hollywood jesus you know the jesus that is portrayed by the world and by misguided false religions and philosophies as a fake jesus and we must seek after and find the real one and how do we know we've got the real one it's going to line up with what he says in here and so i urge you to be students of the bible and to know him him to know is life eternal he tells us learn of me learn of me how do we learn of jesus take time with his book he's the great subject he's the great master and teacher he's given us his life story he's given us his love letter from heaven and will we take the time and the trouble to read it let's pray lord we thank you for your precious truth that you are almighty and you come into heart still by faith in those who put their trust in you lord we pray for each one here hearing this lord here today that you would work in every heart do a work by your spirit lord we pray may your word affect a change in our hearts may we be such a people that we will believe in our heart and confess you out of our mouth as lord in jesus name we pray
