GOD is faithful. 1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. He will not give up on you. He is utterly trustworthy. You can know God’s unfailing faithfulness. Consider: The faithfulness of God.
GOD’S WORD IS FAITHFUL He never fails to keep His promises. We can believe what He says. His Word is The Faithful Word. Titus 1:9 Holding fast the faithful word… The Word of God is reliable. You can depend upon it. Revelation 21:5 …these words are true and faithful.
The devil would have you disbelieve it. Doubt it. Discard it. God says these words are true and faithful. You can trust what it says and know it is absolutely right. His Word is unfailing and it is trustworthy. These words. Every word of it. It’s the truth. We want to make sure we have the faithful word. In English it’s the King James Bible. The church at Philadelphia in Revelation 3:8 was commended for keeping the Word. We want to be such a church.
This is a fundamental. Isaiah 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. His Word is forever true. It is the Word of Truth. For all time. Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. This Word is faithful. It does not change. It stands absolutely true. This Book contains over 3000 promises. 2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises… Praise God for the faithful Word. May we love it!
GOD’S LOVE IS FAITHFUL. It is constant. Lamentations 3:22-23 It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. His love is dependable. Because of the Lord's faithful love we do not perish. We have everlasting life. His love is unfailing. His love sustains us. Our God has demonstrated His love towards us. Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
God loves you. You can trust His purposes. And His care. For your life. He has shown His love so fully, so freely. You can trust His promises. His power. His ability to watch over you. You can entrust yourself to His care. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. He will watch over you in love.
God is faithful, through all the twists and turns of life. He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able... 1 Corinthians 10:13 ...God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able... God is faithful. He will help you get victory over temptation. He will enable you to get through trials. His love is forever for you. In love He will watch over you.
1 John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God... His wonderful love is for you. Jeremiah 31:3 ...Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. God is love. 1 John 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. He has manifested His love. Revealed it. It is at the cross that He fully shows His love, in the payment for our sins.
GOD’S MERCY IS FAITHFUL God is faithful to forgive. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
His promise of forgiveness is for you. He is faithful to cleanse your heart by His blood. If we come to Him by way of the cross we can find forgiveness. As you come to Him, by faith, you can receive His mercy.
When He comes back in His power and great glory, at His second coming, in Revelation 19, He has a name - and it is called, "Faithful and True." Thankfully, He is faithful and just to forgive. His judgment is tempered with grace and mercy. His forgiveness is freely given for us who will believe. His mercy is extended to us because of the work of the cross.
Psalms 89:1 I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations. His mercy extends to all who will trust in Him. God will have mercy to those who will come unto Him: Isaiah 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
May we realise the faithful mercy of God is towards you, and appreciate that... Psalms 36:5 Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds. God’s promises are true, whatever we may face. He never changes, and His compassions never fail.
You can place your faith wholeheartedly in this faithful God. He is for you. Great is Thy faithfulness. Surely, we have a FAITHFUL God!
[0:00] As we come to the Word of God now, we're going to go to 1 Corinthians 1 verse 9 as the first! Scripture but I'll be showing them on the screen so you can keep tabs that way as well.
[0:12] The faithful God, one of His names, the name of our God is faithful. Faithful. Is there someone in your life you know you can always depend on?
[0:27] Someone you know will never let you down. My dear wife Julie is such a person to me in my life.
[0:38] There's been times I've let her down, I've disappointed her but she's always stuck by me. She is faithful. Let me tell you today, God is faithful.
[0:51] Isn't He? Our God is faithful. It's one of His attributes, it's His nature. And in other words, He is 100% someone you can trust.
[1:02] He's absolutely that. And I want to impress that on you today. God is faithful to you. And we read in 1 Corinthians 1 verse 9, it says, God is faithful.
[1:15] By whom you are called unto the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. It says, God is faithful. That's who He is.
[1:26] That's what He is. You can place your heart's trust in Him. You can trust Him with your life, with your future, with your present and with your eternity. He will not leave you, it says.
[1:37] And He will not give up on you. He is, oh totally, utterly trustworthy. He is dependable, absolutely so. And you can know God's unfailing faithfulness in your life.
[1:51] You can know the one that you can trust, absolutely trust, and know that He is faithful. You can count upon Him. He is faithful, always.
[2:02] We all know how people can sometimes be unreliable. Who can identify with that? They can break their promises. I can't count the number of times people tell me, I'll see you in church next Sunday.
[2:19] And they don't show up. You know, maybe that's just how it happened. But you know, people can sometimes fail us, can't they? They break their promises. They let you down.
[2:30] They don't always keep their word. You can't rely on them. And the Bible says that of people. It says, most men will proclaim everyone his own goodness, but a faithful man who can find.
[2:43] They're so scarce. They're like hamsteeth, aren't they? They are rare. Faithful men. Faithful people. Yet, friends, today, I tell you, by the authority of the word of God, God is faithful.
[2:57] God is. And consider and know that today. The faithfulness of God. God is faithful. Number one, firstly note this, that God's word is faithful.
[3:08] God is faithful and he's given us a word that is faithful. His word that we can trust. He never fails to keep his promises. Friends, today, he is true to his word.
[3:19] This God who is faithful is true to his word. His word is called the faithful word. Paul writes to Titus and tells how God's bishop is to be a man holding forth, sorry, holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught.
[3:37] That he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. God calls us to hold fast the word of God.
[3:49] Elsewhere it says to hold it forth as well. Friends, the point is the word of God is reliable. It's absolutely reliable. And we can hold it fast. We can hold it with that grip that we'll not let it go.
[4:01] We are to hold fast the word. And we are to hold forth the word. Friends, this word of which we speak, it is faithful. It's faithful. Absolutely so. In other words, you can rely upon it.
[4:13] And you can depend upon it. It's interesting the Hebrew word for faithful is, I'm told, not that I'm any scholar of these things, but it's interesting to know the Hebrew word is amah.
[4:28] Amah. From which we get a word. Amen. It's faithful. Amen. It's faithful. In other words, there's truth here. We can say, yes, I believe it. Yes, I agree with it.
[4:39] I believe it is true. Amen. It's amen. It's faithful. And Revelation 21 verse 5 says that the one who sits on the throne says, behold, I make all things new.
[4:54] Revelation 21 verse 5. And he said unto me, write, these words are true and faithful. The one seated on the throne says to John, these words that I give to you are true and faithful.
[5:12] These words, this Bible, friends, it's true. It's true from cover to cover. There's no little thing in the margin saying, this is not reliable or whatnot. This is reliable.
[5:23] This is true. There is no doubt to it. There's no doubt cast upon it. The devil would have you to disbelieve it. The devil would have you to doubt it. The devil would have you to discard it, to deny it.
[5:36] But God says, believe it. Believe it. These words are true. These words are faithful. You can trust him, can't you? Because he is faithful. He is faithful.
[5:47] God says these words are true and faithful. You can trust what it says in the word of God. You can take it to heart. You can believe it 100% is absolutely right.
[5:58] These words are true. This is who God is, faithful. And this morning, by the authority of this book, I say his word is unfailing.
[6:14] It will not fail you. It is trustworthy. These words, every word of it. If you want to know about God, go to the book. He's given you a book that tells you all about himself.
[6:27] It's here in print, in black and white and red. It's God's word, every word of it. And it's the truth. We want to make sure we have the faithful word.
[6:40] In English, I put to you, it is the King James Bible. The church of Philadelphia in Revelation 3 verse 8 was commended for holding the word, for keeping the word, for guarding it, for holding it, holding it fast.
[6:56] The church of Philadelphia. We want to be a church like that, don't we? The whole fast the word of God that keeps the word, keeps it. We want to be such a church. This is fundamental.
[7:07] Isaiah 40 verse 8 says this, The grass withers and the flower fades, but the word of our God, it shall stand forever. His word is forever true.
[7:18] It's not just true in the present, it's true in the forever. And this is the sure foundation. You can build your life upon this word. As our Lord Jesus compares with those that would build on flaky, shaky sand or those that would build on this solid, sure rock, which is his word.
[7:39] It's chalk and cheese, isn't it? It's sand and rock. It's lies and it's truth. Friends, what are you going to build your life on? There's a sure word you can trust. It's the word of truth for all time.
[7:51] And the Savior says this in Matthew 24. He says, Heaven and earth shall pass away. And earth shall pass away.
[8:03] I must have missed that one in my collecting of verses there. Sorry about that. It's not one that I could project to you just now. But the Savior says that my words shall not pass away.
[8:15] There's heaven and earth shall pass away. But my words, words shall not pass away. In other words, every word is going to be keeping for us. Every word we can trust.
[8:26] Every word of God. This word is faithful. It does not change. And I put to you, friends, God's faithful word is a sure foundation you can build your life upon.
[8:38] This book, it contains over 3,000 promises. Now, we're not going to cover all of them today. But that's your homework. That's going to take a lifetime, isn't it?
[8:50] To read the word of God. To take his promises to heart. Over 3,000 of them. Wow. And it says this, 2 Peter 1 verse 4. It says, Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises.
[9:05] That by these he might be partakers of a divine nature. Having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. Wow. The faithful God has given you exceeding great and precious promises for you.
[9:20] And these promises are such that we can be partakers of his very divine nature. We can know God, who he is, and learn of him, and be like him. And if we do believe that God has given us such a faithful word, oughtn't we then to treasure it?
[9:36] Oughtn't we? To study it? To believe it? To heed it? To obey it? It's God's love letter to us. It's God's love letter to us.
[9:47] Now I know I've mentioned before there was a time when I used to get love letters. When I was courting my wife and we were some several thousand kilometers distant for a time as I was studying.
[10:00] And those love letters I cherished them. And they were important to me. And friends this book is God's love letter to you. It's his love. He's written it in blood for you. It's love.
[10:11] It's his word. It's his faithful word. Friends, if we do believe it, we ought to act like we do believe it, that it is faithful. And as the psalmist cried, Thy word is very pure, therefore thy servant loveth it.
[10:27] Praise God for the faithful word. Amen? Amen. May we love it. We can believe what he says he will do. It's his word, and his word is faithful.
[10:38] Secondly, we see that God's love is faithful. His very love. Do you know the love of God towards you? How awesome it is?
[10:50] His faithful love? God's love is not an off and on kind of love. It's not a fickle, wavering love. It's constant. Constant love.
[11:01] And this faithful word is the message written of his faithful love. Lamentations 3 is one that speaks to us of God's love.
[11:18] It says it is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning.
[11:29] Great is thy faithfulness. Great is thy faithfulness. Notice it says, Great is thy faithfulness.
[11:41] God's faithfulness is great. And it says his compassions fail not. His compassions, his wonderful love do not fail.
[11:56] It does not fail. The compassions of God, they don't stop and start. It's not like he loves you one day and loves you not the other. His love is dependable. It's consistent.
[12:07] It's constant. Now, I happen to know there's a car out in the car park here. And the owner of that car, he puts his key in the ignition, and he's not sure.
[12:20] He's not sure whether the car's going to start. And he's telling me that lately. He just cannot rely on it. Get in a car like that. You turn the key and is it going to start or not start?
[12:36] And friends, some people think the love of God is like that. Maybe God's love, God loves me today and he loves me not the next day. As if his love waxes and wanes, it changes.
[12:48] Friends, God's love is not like that. You that are his beloved, he loves you. And he loves you as he's always intended, his love towards you.
[13:01] And his love continues. It doesn't stop and start. We can rely upon his love, friends, today.
[13:12] It's totally reliable. The Bible says it's full of compassion and tender kindness. Though we deserve his wrath, though we deserve to be consumed, yet instead he shows us his love.
[13:30] Don't you want to know such a God, a faithful God that loves you so? Because of the Lord's faithful love, we do not perish, but we have the opposite. We have everlasting life.
[13:43] And his love is unfailing. Just think of that. Catch a sense of that, I pray this morning, that his love so loves you, that it is unfailing towards you, and that his love sustains you.
[13:57] Our God has so demonstrated his love towards us, as we see at the cross, but God commendeth his love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
[14:09] And so God commands his love to you. This is absolute love. The love of God shown to us at the cross, and he's purposed this love to you.
[14:25] God loves you. You can trust his purposes. When you know someone loves you, you know that they are someone you can trust. You can trust his care for you, for your life, for your soul, for your family, for your heart, for your needs, for your eternity.
[14:43] He's shown his love so freely, so fully, that at the cross, he's so demonstrated that love. And you can trust his promises this morning. You can trust his power, his ability to watch over you.
[14:56] Friends, the faithfulness of our God, can be our sure hope. He is with you, even in the very darkest of times. His love will not fail you, but trust him.
[15:10] The Bible says, God is faithful. The one who loves you, faithfully, surely he will watch over you. And you can entrust yourself, entirely to his care, and keeping.
[15:24] Here's another promise from this faithful one, who loves you so. It says, and this scripture's not showing, but it's 2 Thessalonians 3, verse 3, it says this.
[15:39] This is 2 Thessalonians 3, verse 3, it says, but the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and keep you from evil. So this one who loves you so, his love that saves you, it says his love also establishes you.
[15:56] In other words, he gives you a security, a stability, a standing that is sure and steadfast. He establishes you. He keeps you safe.
[16:08] He will watch over you in love. This one who loves you, loves you as a father would love a little child, that he will watch over you with such love, to guard you, to keep you safe.
[16:20] And his faithfulness is unfailing. God's love will get you through every trial and test, no matter what life brings your way. And you might say, well, preacher, I'm going through some stuff right now.
[16:34] God is faithful. God is faithful in your situation. Whether you're struggling with temptation, with addiction, with an unsafe spouse, with things that are troubling you, with things that are hard for you, when heartache comes your way, when misery comes your way, there is still a God who is faithful.
[16:57] And he will not fail you. You can know that. God is faithful through all the twists and turns of life. And it says, he will not allow you to be tempted above that which you're able.
[17:08] It says, 1 Corinthians 10, 13, that no temptation has taken you, but such as is common to man. But God is, what? Faithful. God is?
[17:20] Faithful. Who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you're able, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it. It's saying there, God is faithful.
[17:32] Even when the tests come, even when the temptations and trials face you, he will help you to get victory. He'll help you to get through the trial.
[17:44] He will enable you. And his love is forever for you. And the Bible says, if God is for you, who can be against you? And is God for you? Yes, he is.
[17:55] God is for you. In his love, he'll watch over you. And in his faithful love, he's adopted you as his very own children. You that know him today. He says this in 1 John 3, behold, get a load of this.
[18:10] In other words, it's the way you could put it in the Aussie vernacular. He says, look at this. Behold. Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God, that we should be called the children of our heavenly Father.
[18:28] Behold, his love that he's lavished on us, that he's given to us. What a grand privilege that we have, that we can know this faithful Father, and such love, such love.
[18:40] Ought it we then to be thankful for such love? To be ever mindful of it? But he is such a God, and he's a jealous God. He loves us so passionately, so unreservedly.
[18:53] He wants your love in return. Yet he loves you still, even while you're still a sinner, even while you're his enemy, even though you don't deserve his love. His wonderful love is for you.
[19:05] It says that in Jeremiah 31. In part it says, Yea, I've loved thee with an everlasting love. Therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee. This is the love of God.
[19:16] It's everlasting. God's love is beyond space and time. We can't put a time scale on it. His love will forevermore endure. His love is sacrificial, unconditional, unwavering.
[19:30] And his love is not based on what we do. Some would have some thought of religion that it's based on what we do to deserve it. But no, it's not a love deserved.
[19:44] It's a love bestowed. It's a love gifted to us. It's a love lavished on us. That we're his enemies.
[19:55] That he would choose to give us life that deserved death. That's the love of God, friends. And it's faithful love. And it says in Psalm 86, 15, But thou, O Lord, art full, a God full of compassion, and gracious, and long-suffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.
[20:17] Behold what manner of love. Behold that love this morning. He is full of faithful love. God is love. We know the Bible says in 1 John, as we know the word of God tells us of God's love.
[20:30] As we see in 1 John 4, verse 9, In this was manifested, the love of God towards us. He's revealed it. How? Because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world that we might live through him.
[20:45] And it says that herein is love. Not that we love God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
[20:56] His payment for our sins. At the cross, he fully showed his love. That he manifested it. At the cross, at Calvary, as we've heard already, the love of God, it's for you.
[21:08] It's for you. So we see, as we've seen, God's word is faithful, number one. Wow. Exceeding great, precious, promises, for you.
[21:21] The faithful word. Number two, we see, God's love is faithful. Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us. We shall be called the children of God.
[21:33] And thirdly, we see this, that God's mercy is faithful. His mercy is faithful, friends. You might say, what do I, what do I deserve? What would I, um, be justly given for my sin, for my failing?
[21:55] And God looks at you with eyes full of mercy. And it says, God is faithful. And he's faithful to forgive.
[22:07] You know, the wonder of forgiveness. Forgiveness we do not deserve. You know, we could think, well, I could forgive someone who maybe acts sorry for, you know, who, I could forgive someone who, um, you know, um, maybe makes up for the bad things they've done to me.
[22:28] But God loves us and he forgives us freely. He gives us, he forgives us so freely as we just come to him.
[22:41] It says in 1 John 1 verse 9, if we confess our sins, he's faithful. He's faithful and he's just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
[22:54] God is faithful to forgive. He's faithful to forgive when we confess our sins. Friends, there's a promise here. There's another exceeding great and precious promise. It's a promise of forgiveness.
[23:05] You can be forgiven to think that you've committed some dastardly crime and that there would be pardon for you. That the judge would say, I pardon you.
[23:18] What a load of, what a weight off your back that would be, wouldn't it? Um, as I know that, that beloved allegory of Pilgrim's Progress where he had this weight of his sin, of conviction, of his guilt, weighing him down, down, down into the depths and at the cross the burden was lifted.
[23:39] God struck it off his back. The cords were torn and shut, cut and the burden fell and that's the weight of our guilt.
[23:50] You can know forgiveness this morning. If you've yet to trust him, his promise of forgiveness is for you. God is for you and God is faithful. His mercy is faithful and his promise of forgiveness is for you.
[24:03] He's faithful to cleanse your heart. His blood can wash away your sin and friends, it all depends upon his mercy. That's where we go to. We go to the mercy of God.
[24:14] God is faithful and God is just. He must punish sin. That's why there had to be the cross. There had to be the cross. There had to be the punishment and it was punished.
[24:26] The punishment fell upon him and if we come by way of the cross, there's forgiveness there. If we simply come by way of the cross, you can find forgiveness.
[24:36] You can know, I'm forgiven. I'm forgiven. As you come by faith to him, you can receive his mercy. Friends, the faithful God and his faithful word tells of his faithful love and of a sure saviour who is ready to hear your prayer and grant you his faithful mercies.
[24:58] He came in our place at the cross and there he extended his love, his mercy. He gave it freely and he completely offers it to whosoever will.
[25:13] And when he comes again one day, he surely will. It tells you in Revelation 19, one of the names of this one. When he comes at his second coming in great glory, he has a name and he shall be called and says what?
[25:30] Faithful and true. Faithful and true. That's who he is. That's my God. That's your God this morning that trusts him. His name is faithful and true.
[25:42] That's the kind of God he is. Amen. He is judge. He's going to come to judge but he's faithful and just. And he's faithful to his promise of pardon to those who will receive it.
[25:55] Thankfully, he's faithful and just to forgive. Thank God for that. Amen. This morning, he's faithful and just to forgive. To forgive.
[26:06] His judgment is tampered with grace and mercy. His forgiveness is freely given for you that believe, who will believe. His mercy he has extended to you because of the work of the cross.
[26:18] And again, as his promise declares, if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
[26:30] I know there's some cleaning professionals in our midst this morning and some would do what's called a deep clean.
[26:44] Friends, there's no deeper clean than this one. Amen. There's no deeper clean you can get than this one. If your carpets need a deep clean, look, maybe your heart needs a deep clean. Friends, there's no deeper cleaning than the cleaning of the blood of Jesus Christ.
[26:58] He can make you clean. He can make you clean as clean can be. Squeaky clean. Absolutely clean. Wholly clean. Clean from the inside out.
[27:09] And friends, it's that cleanse he comes because of his faithful mercy. And it says he's rich in mercy. He doesn't kind of have just a little bit of mercy that he dishes out little bit by bit.
[27:21] He's rich in mercy. It's rich. It's just overflowing out of the treasury. Of who he is. It's an abounding of his mercy.
[27:32] And his great love it says. His love is great wherewith he loved us. And even when we were dead in sins have he quickened us. He's made us alive together with Christ by grace are you saved.
[27:44] Friends, I know some who kind of labour in this thinking am I saved? Am I saved? Or what I did yesterday did I lose it then?
[27:57] Got to get it back again. Some people think like that. Am I saved today? Was I saved tomorrow? Am I going to be saved tomorrow? Am I going to lose it? Have to regain it? Friends, if you've got saved you've got saved.
[28:11] Glory. And if you've got grace then you are saved. It says you are saved. Past tense. You are, you were, you are, you will be.
[28:24] But there's a sense where we were. We were saved, we are saved. We are, we can confess we are saved. And why? By grace. By his great love. Friends, some would labour with this yoke of, of having to deserve it.
[28:43] We don't. We don't deserve it. We never did. We never will. We never can. We never will. But, it's undeserved. And that's the, the wonder of it, isn't it?
[28:54] It's the, the astonishing paradox of that love that he would grant to you, that mercy that he would give to you, you cannot deserve it. You know, as we were witnessing yesterday, I know the son, we've come across who have this view, well, I go to church.
[29:13] I go to church. I'm church of whatever she was. And, oh, I don't want to talk about the Bible. Oh. I don't want to talk about salvation. Friends, there's nothing more important to talk about, is there?
[29:28] Nothing can be more important than this truth. Nothing can be more important than to know your soul is saved. And, you can go to church morning, noon, and night, midweek, midday. You know, you can, you can live in the place.
[29:40] You can still be lost. Friends, it's not about going to church. It's not about some manufactured sense of religion, of, of, well-intentioned, of, of, of, of, religious learnings.
[29:56] It's whether you know him, him to know. It's life eternal. It's not what you know, it's who you know. Uh, mind you, we should know this too, but, this doesn't, the knowledge of, the knowing about God doesn't save you.
[30:11] It's the knowing of him. It's knowing him. Knowing him. And, by grace, you are saved, it says. Friends, I urge you this morning, I know this, different ones, learning, listening, seats in here, tuning in, to know him.
[30:28] That's, that's what counts. To know his mercy, his love, his grace. David could sing of that. He knew all about forgiveness. In Psalm 86, verse 5, David, he says, for thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive, and plenteous in mercy, unto all them that call upon thee.
[30:49] He's ready to forgive. What are you waiting for? What are you waiting for? If you have yet to know his forgiveness, he's ready to forgive. Call upon him. Call upon him.
[31:01] God is faithful. He surely is. God is good. He's ready to forgive. His mercy abounds. Simply call upon him. Don't make it complicated. His mercy endures forever.
[31:13] And this shall be our forever song. We're going to be singing it forever. It says, I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever. With my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.
[31:25] This shall be our forever song to our forever faithful God. Surely you can know this faithful God today. Tell of his faithfulness. Tell your world of your faithful God, of the faithfulness of God.
[31:39] Look back and see, hitherto hath the Lord helped me. Amen. Can you say that this morning? God has helped me. Can you look back and see? God's been faithful. He has been faithful.
[31:50] And he is faithful. And he will be faithful. God is faithful. He will see you through. He's faithfully with us. Even as we face some trial and testing and suffering even.
[32:01] As 1 Peter 4.19 says. And he's saying there to the ones he speaks to, let them suffer according to the will of God and commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing as unto a faithful creator.
[32:19] Friends, he's your faithful creator. He's made you for who you are, for where you are. He's purposefully fashioned you to be the person that you are today.
[32:32] He's the faithful creator. Will you commit the keeping of your soul to him? You are wonderfully and, how does it go? Wonderfully made? Fairfully made.
[32:43] Fairfully made. Some are more fairfully than wonderfully. We're fairfully and wonderfully made, aren't we? By our faithful creator. So we ought to commit the keeping of our souls unto him.
[32:56] Friends, you can trust him. Commit your soul to him. His faithfulness is unlimited. Just as we, I like to say wrapping up, still got a few pages here. His faithfulness is unlimited, friends.
[33:09] And we can know him. It says he has mercy. It says let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts. And let him return unto the Lord. And he, our God, our faithful God, will have mercy upon him.
[33:22] And to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. God will have mercy on those who come to him. And there is abundant pardon. If we believe the faithful God will show mercy, then let's find our peace in that, in his promises, his faithful word, his promises of faithful love and his faithful mercy.
[33:43] So what will we do with this message? I urge you to this, to go to the throne of grace. Come to the faithful God.
[33:56] Know his love. Know his mercy. Know his grace in time of need. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
[34:08] Friends, this throne of mercy is always available. It's available all the time. You don't have to wait till the church service starts or you feel some holy hush or you go to some sacred place.
[34:26] The throne of his grace is always there for you. And we may always come and find that mercy of God. It's always available.
[34:38] And friends, this mercy of God, this faithfulness, it says it reaches unto the clouds. Psalm 36 verse 5. Thy mercy, O Lord, reaches.
[34:49] It's in the heavens and thy faithfulness reaches unto the clouds. In other words, his mercy, his faithfulness towards you, it's measureless. You can absolutely trust God is true.
[35:01] Because he is faithful, you can depend upon him. Now look back, maybe take stock for a moment. Wow, God's been faithful, hasn't he? I'm saved. I'm on the way to glory.
[35:12] I know he's saving Christ. I know he's cleansing blood. I know the mercy of God. It's new every morning. It's faithfulness. And you can fully count upon him day by day, every morning, morning by morning.
[35:25] There was a man called Thomas Chisholm. He had a difficult early adult life and he was so frail in his health that there was times he was confined to his bed, unable to work.
[35:36] And there was these bouts of illness that struck him down and he had to put in hours of work in various jobs to make ends meet. He had times of real struggle.
[35:46] And when Thomas Chisholm came to Christ at the age of 27, he found great comfort in the word of God. And the very fact that God was faithful, God was faithful, even in the times when he lacked strength, in times of illness, in times of sickness and weakness, and he found comfort in the provision of God for his needs.
[36:08] And one of his favourite scriptures was that one that we've looked at before. It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning.
[36:21] Great is thy faithfulness. And Thomas wrote a poem about God's faithfulness. He said, God is faithful and I want to put that into words. And he wrote this poem which became a well-known hymn.
[36:33] A hymn with three verses and a chorus. Verse 1 speaks of God's faithfulness revealed in his word. And it draws from this verse in James 1 where it says, Every good and perfect gift comes from above.
[36:47] Comes down from the Father of lights. With whom is no variableness, not a shadow of turning. In other words, God doesn't shift and change like a shadow with the moving of the sun. God is steady.
[36:58] He's rock solid. He's steadfast. He doesn't shift and change. He is faithful. He's certain. And his love is sure. And he does not change.
[37:09] He's constant. He will not fail thee nor forsake thee, the Bible says. In verse 2 of this hymn, it tells of God's faithfulness as we see creation, the seasons, the sun, the moon, the stars.
[37:20] They're all perfectly in this harmony, in this planned design from God. It's orderly. Guided by God's faithful hand without any help from us.
[37:32] Now friends, if I died today, the world will go on like it normally does. You know, it's the same for all of us, isn't it? That God's got this whole universe in the palm of his hand and he is faithful in that superintending of the universe.
[37:50] And friends, we see in verse 3 of this hymn, it says that God's faithfulness is revealed in our lives. He pardons our sins. There's that faithfulness of his forgiveness, of his mercy extended.
[38:02] He fills us with his peace. He assures us of his presence. He gives us strength and hope and blessings too numerous for us to count. And God's promises are true whatever we may face.
[38:15] God's promises are for us. He never changes and his compassions fail not. And friends, this morning, I urge you, as you've yet to trust him, you can place your faith wholeheartedly in this faithful God.
[38:32] He will not fail you. Great is thy faithfulness. We have the very faithful word of God. It tells us of him. It's absolutely true. It's given from him.
[38:43] Or don't we then to want to heed it, to learn it, to feed our soul with it? We can know of the faithful love. It tells you of the one so faithful and true.
[38:54] Or don't it then to move you to a deeper zeal, a love in return, a holy purpose for your life, for the one who loves you so. And if we know the mercy of God, the faithful mercies, the one who is absolutely faithful, that he would give his very son for you, or don't we then to know the joy and privilege of knowing him, of communion with him, and of that assurance of faith, and of his forgiveness for us, surely we have a faithful God.
[39:26] Let us pray. Lord God, we thank you. You are faithful. And Lord, these things prompt us to that reflection on your great faithfulness for us.
[39:41] Lord, we ask you, minister to each one. We pray each one might know you as the personal faithful God, Lord, that as we trust you, you will be faithful forever with your mercy, with your love, and you've given the word that we can more and more learn of your faithfulness, those promises that you've given.
[40:03] Lord, that you are the faithful and true one. We pray, Lord, each one might have that knowledge that we can find forgiveness, we can find mercy and grace to help, we can come to the very throne, enter the very throne room, to the king of kings and the Lord of lords, and we can cast ourselves at your feet and say, Lord, I believe, I receive.
[40:27] Thank you, Lord, for your mercy and grace, for your faithfulness to me. I trust you now. And Lord, for each believer that we might be ever reminded that your faithfulness is near you every morning.
[40:40] Amen. Praise the Lord. Let's go. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen.
