The Bible says lots about false gods and idols. They are demonic. Deuteronomy 32:17 They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.
God's Word warns of false gods. Moses confronted Pharaoh and stood up to the false religionists. Ancient Egypt had over 40 false gods and goddesses. The Ten Plagues of God against Egypt were humiliations of ten specific Egyptian gods.
It seems many are still bowing their knee to Baal. To false gods.
BAAL is one of the prominent false gods in the Bible; mentioned over 150 times. Baal was worshipped by the Canaanites, and also called Bel, the chief god of the city of Babylon. He was associated with power, authority, and fertility. In modern culture we can see what is alike to Baal in the world of media and entertainment – in our world’s immoral ways and sensual gratification. Baal was also associated with ASHTORETH. She was worshipped as Ishtar in Babylon, Astarte or Aphrodite in Greece, and Venus in Rome. She was the goddess of love, war, and sexuality. Her name means “the star” or “the queen of heaven”. The Catholic Church calls Mary the Queen of Heaven. Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal at the showdown on Mount Carmel.
It’s interesting that world leaders everywhere have been erecting memorials to the temple of Baal. It’s a significant sign.
Temple priests would place children and babies into the idol’s outstretched arms, who would then roll into the blazing fire as human sacrifices. Loud drumbeats would drown out the screams. Baal is a destructive force against the people of God – the lord of the flies, the god of dung, a symbol of satan himself.
The Bible foretells the coming age of the antichrist, and great apostasy, and hatred against the people of God. A time of immorality. Could it be that powerful business and political leaders in the world today are Luciferian – Satan worshippers?
The Israelites created the golden calf of Moloch or Baal as an idol to worship and sacrifice their children, as they turned away from Moses and God to serve the gods of Egypt. It’s interesting that there’s an obsession with ancient Baal today. The spirit of Baal is still at work. People still defy God and worship falsehood. God condemns the worship of false gods.
What was Baal known for? Immorality. We see an explosion of that in our own day. Child Sacrifice: There are about 73 million abortions every year. The blood of innocents continues to flow. Weather: The idea of global warming/climate change is meant to create fear so people obsess about the future. For Christians, the Bible is clear about God’s plan for the earth and what will transpire. Nowadays climate change is become a virtual religion.
The various false gods of our world today are engineered by satan. It’s sad to see many swept along by false philosophies.
MOLECH was the god of the Ammonites. He was associated with divination, with fire and child sacrifice. Molech was associated with brutality and wealth. The Vatican has decided to approve a statue of Moloch or Baal, the ancient god of child sacrifice, to be put on display near the Colosseum in Rome.
DAGON was another false god - worshipped by the Philistines. This false god was often depicted as a half-man, half-fish figure. It’s interesting how the Popes of Rome and their bishops wear fish hats. Just like the priests of Dagon of old.
God will bring the false gods down. The Philistines placed the captured Ark of the Covenant in the temple of Dagon, only to find the idol fallen face down before the Ark the next morning (1 Samuel 5:3).
In contemporary society, our modern-day Dagon comes in the form of consumerism and the pursuit of material possessions. Many people have an all consuming desire for material wealth and possessions.
Our Lord warns of serving the false god of Mammon… Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
It seems like the modern versions of false gods are many and varied. False gods are really God-substitutes. They continue to destroy people today. In Australia they still honour the false god of the rainbow serpent and Aboriginal dreamtime. We must renounce all false gods.
These days we see people captive to addiction to substances, vices, and self-destructive behaviours. People fall prey to destructive habits. Their false gods could be substance abuse, gambling, or other harmful addictions. They are being destroyed as far as their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Our only hope is the exclusive worship of the one true God.
We should not be building memorials to Baal, or accommodating false gods in our lives. Like Asa, we should be tearing them down. 2 Chronicles 14:2-3 ...he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves.
[0:00] We're going to go to the word of God now, if you've got your Bible. And talking about false gods. Of course nobody here has got a false god.
[0:12] But really when you think about it there's lots of gods, aren't there? small g gods and false gods, false idols. And what does the Bible tell us about them? Just a bit of a bird's eye view of what the Bible says about false gods today.
[0:28] So firstly consider false gods, what the Bible tells us about them. False gods are demonic. They are of the devil. Deuteronomy 32, 17 in the context is talking about they sacrificed unto devils.
[0:44] The context is talking about strange gods. They provoke God to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations. They provoked him to anger. Of course the Bible says God is a jealous God.
[0:57] And then it reads here, verse 17 of Deuteronomy 32. It says they sacrificed unto devils. Talking about these idols that they gave something to. They sacrificed unto devils, not to God.
[1:09] To gods whom they knew not. To new gods that came newly up. Whom your fathers feared not. So the Bible warns us over and over again about false gods, these idols, these images.
[1:21] And it tells us not to bow down to them. It's interesting when Moses confronted Pharaoh, he also stood up against the false religionists of his day.
[1:32] You know that they had various tricks and performances that they gave the magicians of Egypt. Egypt. We see that God condemned Egypt ten times, ten plagues.
[1:46] And in fact, ancient Egypt had more than 40 false gods and goddesses. Yes. Although none of them are mentioned in the Bible. But you can see the ten plagues.
[1:58] And we can unpack it in that the various plagues related to the humiliations of specific Egyptian gods. You can see that there.
[2:08] I won't read it right through. But you can see that they referred to, for example, the spirit of the Nile, the earth god, the frog god, and such.
[2:20] They were condemned by each of these ten plagues. So it's quite an interesting concept. We've got five of them there and then the last five. But all of them related to humiliating Egyptian false gods.
[2:34] But what about you and me today? Are there false gods in Australia? It seems like to me there are some. Many are still bowing their knee to Baal, we could say.
[2:44] But thank God there are some who haven't bowed their knee to Baal. Amongst yourselves here, I trust. The Bible talks a lot about Baal as one of the most prominent false gods.
[2:57] And he's variously pictured in different forms. But Baal or Balaam are mentioned over 150 times. So it's quite often referred to. And Baal was worshipped by the Canaanites.
[3:08] He was also called Bel, the chief god of the city of Babylon. Interesting that Babylon is mentioned in the end times scenarios. So Bel was associated with power, authority and fertility.
[3:23] We could think about, if you just reflect on the thought of where's Baal today? We could reflect that perhaps there's some parallels with modern culture.
[3:36] We can see that modern culture is somewhat alike to Baal worship. Especially, for example, in the world of media and entertainment. In a world's immoral ways, sensual gratification.
[3:50] Because that was what Baal was on about. Baal or Baal. Baal was also associated with Ashtaroth. Ashtaroth. And she was worshipped as Ishtar in Babylon.
[4:02] Ashtaroth or Aphrodite in Greece. Venus in Rome. She was the goddess of love, war and sexuality. Her name means the star. Or the queen of heaven.
[4:13] Now it's interesting. This is a picture, a depiction of Mary, the queen of heaven. A Catholic church calls Mary the queen of heaven.
[4:25] Of course this is a false idea. The Bible doesn't call her that. But the queen of heaven is a false god. So we think about, what does the Bible say about such things? Of course we know Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal, didn't he?
[4:40] At the showdown on Mount Carmel. And they got pretty excited. They were cutting themselves. They were having a lot of frenzy. A lot of zeal. A lot of ecstatic behaviour.
[4:52] Antics. But nothing happened. It's a whole lot of hoo-ha. And God didn't answer. Their God did not answer. But of course we know that the true God did answer Elijah when he prayed just a short prayer.
[5:08] And so we could think about these things as we look back in history and think, well where's Baal today? Where's Baal today? Now it's very interesting, I put to you, that world leaders everywhere have been erecting memorials to the temple of Baal.
[5:27] It's a significant sign, I think. Now this is not recent news, but let me just unpack it a little for you. And it's quite mind-blowing to think about Baal today.
[5:40] I think it's a significant sign. The original arch was built by the Romans in 300 AD as an entrance to a major temple of Baal that had already existed for 3,000 years in Syria.
[5:54] And in 2015 the temple was destroyed by ISIS. World leaders have been honouring a replica of the Arch of Baal, which once stood in the front of the pagan temple of Baal in Palmyra, Syria.
[6:10] So they're displaying this arch, this representation of this arch at strategic political events worldwide, attended by the world's top political and religious leaders.
[6:21] And the arch is a very significant aspect of the temple. It stands as the entrance of the temple. So in the occult, the temple represents a portal or a gateway into the spiritual realm.
[6:33] And so the temple of its day had this powerful furnace below a bronze statue with a bull's head, which represented the god Baal. And temple priests would place their children or babies into the outstretched arms, which would then roll into the blazing fire as human sacrifices.
[6:52] And loud drumbeats would drown out the screams. Bear with me with some of this. Immoral acts were part of their worship. We won't go into that. But there was atrocities there committed against innocent children.
[7:03] That's what Baal is on about. Baal in the Bible. An evil, brutal god. So-called god. A destructive force against the people of God. It's also called the lord of the flies, the god of dung.
[7:17] A symbol of Satan himself. When you get those annoying flies at home, think of Baal, the god of the flies. Pesky things, aren't they? And now think of it, a replica of this demonic religion is being honoured all around the world.
[7:33] The Bible tells, of course, we know how there's a coming age of the Antichrist. There's going to be this time of great apostasy, of hatred against the people of God. It's going to be a time when immorality and degradation of all that is pure is praised.
[7:48] When all that is of innocence is defiled. It will be an age when all will bow down to the Antichrist. All those in positions of power. Let me pose the question.
[7:59] Could it be that the powerful business and political leaders of the world today, some of them at least, are Luciferian Satan worshippers? The signs of that are put to you.
[8:11] Especially the media, high flyers, the rock stars, the film stars of today. And where's Baal today? Yeah. The Israelites created the golden calf of Moloch or Baal as an idol to worship, to sacrifice their children.
[8:29] As they turned away from Moses, from God, to serve the gods of Egypt. And it's a horrible thought to think the sacrifice of children that was done at that time.
[8:40] And a replica of the arch of the Temple of Baal in Palmyra was constructed. And here it is. Let me show you some things. This will blow your mind if you haven't heard about this before. This is not recent news, but here's the arch of Baal unveiled in Trafalgar Square, London.
[8:59] Trafalgar Square, London. This is shocking stuff really, isn't it? And, of course, it just happened to be unveiled on the satanic pagan holiday called Beltane.
[9:11] And so this is the start of the 13-day period of a blood sacrifice to Baal, which leads up to the occult Beltane holiday on May the 1st, which is also the day of the establishment of the Illuminati in 1776.
[9:24] So is this just coincidental? And Beltane is the festival of fire to Baal. I keep saying Baal and Baal differently, but bear with me. Baal sounds better, doesn't it?
[9:36] So, could it just be coincidental that this arch to the Temple of Baal was opened right before the celebration of Baal on Beltane? That's London.
[9:48] New York. Next up, the arch was unveiled at the city Hall Park, New York. The location of the United Nations headquarters. Coinciding with the United Nations General Assembly and the fall equinox, another memorialised satanic holiday.
[10:06] New York. Dubai. Dubai. Then the arch was erected at Dubai in honour of the World Government Summit, where 4,000 world leaders gathered from 130 different countries worldwide.
[10:22] Dubai. Italy. Then the arch was located at Florence, Italy, coinciding with the G7 Cultural Summit. Italy. Switzerland. Switzerland.
[10:33] Geneva, Switzerland was the next place near the country's United Nations headquarters. And then back to the US in Washington, D.C., in front of the US capital.
[10:44] So, this is quite stunning stuff, really, isn't it? When you think, what it represents. Some might say it's just a bit of architecture. It's just some historic representation.
[10:55] But this arch honours Baal. It honours Baal and it's been brought all across the earth and erected right before globalist events and always in the significant locations of global power.
[11:10] Why this obsession with ancient Baal? In the Bible, Israel turned to the pagan god Baal and away from their one true God. And so, as I say, the Bible talks much about Baal.
[11:22] We don't want to exaggerate some of this stuff. Is it just by chance? I think it's not by chance. I think this is deliberate. But we see in the Bible, people offered up their sacrifices, their offerings.
[11:36] They prophesied on behalf of Baal, the false god. They erected altars to it. They burnt incense. They worshipped. And they served it religiously. And friends, today, God condemns all such false worship of false gods.
[11:50] We see, for example, in Jeremiah, the Lord says, Jeremiah 19 verse 4, So it's talking about burning incense worship.
[12:15] It talks about innocent children. It says, They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind.
[12:31] Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that this place shall no more be called Tophet, nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter. So this is quite clear that God is against Baal.
[12:46] And he condemns such kind of worship. It's false gods, isn't it? And we see pictured here just a representation of Baal or of Moloch, of worship unto these false gods.
[12:59] Notice there, this is just by, you know, just by reference. I just want to put it out there as a thought, just a thought today. You see down in the bottom corner there, this is the valley of Tophet, which means the valley of the drum.
[13:15] And here they are beating their drums as represented here. They beat the drums because they wanted to drown out the sounds of the screaming children that were thrown into this fire to be sacrifices to Baal.
[13:28] And here's another picture. Oh, no, that's not Baal worship, that's Hillsong. But we know that this idea of drums, of drumming out, of drums, you know, drums are often associated with voodoo, with such things.
[13:43] And just by reference, we could consider, is that appropriate? And when worship presented at Baal Temple, they passed under this arch on their way in and out. And so we're seeing these replicas of the original arch in Syria that was destroyed in 2015, and companies in the UK, in Dubai, in China, they're reproducing this image, this structure, using 3D printers.
[14:10] And so this arch could be considered to be a kind of spiritual gateway, occult influence. The spirit of Baal is still at work. And really, what does Baal worship represent?
[14:21] It's defying God, isn't it? It's against God. It's worshipping falsehood. Could the arch be symbolic of the Antichrist and such an associated evil spirit? Because the Bible says, Woe unto them that call evil good and good evil, that put darkness for light and light for darkness, that put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.
[14:41] Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight. There's a lot of talk now of what they're calling good. It's actually evil, isn't it? They're celebrating it.
[14:52] We have to see it on our TV sets, on our screens. We see how the world is promoting gross abominations. They're calling it good. And they're wanting our children to enjoy it and to be swayed by it.
[15:07] What was Baal known for? It's interesting when you think about what was Baal known for. Baal was known for immorality. Don't we see an explosion of immorality today?
[15:19] Anything goes. And your kids can tap into it so easily. It's everywhere. Everywhere, isn't it? Immorality.
[15:30] There's no restraint. There's no restraint anymore. And it's all in living colour in video. We're seeing an explosion of immorality today, aren't we?
[15:43] What is Baal known for? Child sacrifice. There's about 73 million abortions every year. The blood of the innocents. It continues to flow, doesn't it? Now, if you have had an abortion, there's mercy for you today.
[16:00] There's grace for you in Christ. You can know his forgiveness and you can know that healing, that whatever's happened, whatever you've done, God's grace avails for you. So know that today if you have had an abortion.
[16:14] But the point is that the world just sees that as just something to throw away. They're throwing away life. And that child sacrifice is still happening, isn't it? And they still want our children, the godless.
[16:26] The ideologies that are propagated across schools, the belief systems. Schools are indoctrinating children about false gods. Now, they go into these mindfulness things, meditation, you know, blank your mind and just think whatever you want to think.
[16:41] And this new agey stuff, it's just so prevalent now. And then another thing that Baal was known for was weather. He was the god of the weather. But don't we see a lot of focus on the weather these days?
[16:54] Climate change. Oh, God, they all get scared and stop breathing because we're causing climate change. Global warming. And, of course, whatever your view about it, I think it's overdone.
[17:07] I think it's over-exaggerated. I think there's a lot of fear that's obsessing people about the future as if we can control the climate. Actually, we know who controls the climate. And for Christians, the Bible's clear.
[17:20] Again, that God's plan for the earth will happen and will transpire. We're in his hands. But it seems these days that climate change has become a virtual religion, doesn't it? There's some people saying that.
[17:32] It's virtually a religion. You know, you've got to... Don't you believe that you're a climate denier? A climate denier. You know, that you would dare to have a different view. That you would dare to question some of the outrageous things that we're being told today.
[17:46] Then there's New Ages today. They literally worship. Mother Earth, they call her. They call the earth a mother. Gaia worship. It's incredible.
[17:57] Now, here's another image. Of course, this is just coincidentally another image that looks very much like a biblical image. And what is this? Here's what the headline says for this picture.
[18:11] The United Nations erects an idol that resembles the beast described in the Bible. So the quote goes on. A statue, an idol, with the likeness of a beast, in the books of Daniel and Revelation, has been erected outside the United Nations headquarters in New York.
[18:29] In New York City. And what's the statue called? Guardian for International Peace and Security. As prominently placed on the Visitor's Plaza outside the United Nations headquarters.
[18:43] And according to the United Nations, the Guardian is a fusion of Jaguar and Eagle. They're calling it Guardian for International Peace and Security. It's interesting when you read Daniel 7, for example, it says that Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night and behold the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.
[19:04] And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. The first was like a lion and had eagle's wings. And I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked and it was lifted up from the earth and made to stand upon the feet as a man.
[19:19] And a man's heart was given to it. So this is the beast idol. It was made by some artists, Jacobo and Maria Angeles. It was donated by the government of Mexico.
[19:31] Guardian for International Peace and Security. Why would they choose that particular image and name it that? 1 Thessalonians 5.3 it says, Luke 21.28 says, When these things begin to come to pass, then look up and lift up your heads, for your redemption draweth nigh.
[20:05] This is what's going on. These things are happening. And is it just by chance? Or is it somehow relevant to what the Bible portrays?
[20:17] In the Bible, we see King Ahab married Jezebel and she set up Baal worship, census. It's noteworthy how when John wrote the book of Revelation, he warned the church of Thyatira about the spirit of Jezebel.
[20:33] Could this reviving of an interest in Baal again be a sign to awaken us to Christ returning? For example, Revelation 2, verse 20, As the Lord exhorts the church of Thyatira, Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophet, to teach and seduce my servants, to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
[21:01] So Jezebel associated with this immorality, associated with idols. What do we see today? Where's Baal today? The various false gods of our world today are engineered by Satan.
[21:14] As that first scripture said, they're not just idols or statues or images, they're devils. Of course, we know we're not to be afraid of them, we don't have to get spooky about it and think, oh, we've got to be afraid of them, because it's nothing compared to our almighty God.
[21:29] But yet for the world, the world's being swept with these many false philosophies today. And while we were out door knocking yesterday, we had a Hindu woman come up to us, and they must have liked the look of, who was it they wanted to paint?
[21:47] Geoffrey must have been the best looking one of us, as we were there, knocking on the doors there, and this Hindu woman came out, and she was trying to paint the third eye, on Geoffrey's forehead there.
[21:57] She had the little dabber of cotton bud, and dabbed it, swirling it around in this little red dish of mixture, and she wanted to give us some certain things to eat, and she wanted to put that red dot on Geoffrey's forehead, in honour of the false god, Krishna.
[22:18] Now there's people out there still believing this stuff. In fact, I know, I think whether it was the same place or another one, and we've seen them before, on some entrances to some houses, they've actually got a picture of a snake, because that's the god they're worshipping.
[22:35] It's mind-blowing. They're actually worshipping a snake. Well, they would say that the snake's the one that's getting squashed, but it's an actual picture of a serpent, of a snake. You don't have to be too brainy to realise where the snake is in the Bible, the serpent, who that represents, but they're worshipping such a thing.
[22:54] So false beliefs abound today. Brothers and sisters, we should be awake and alerted to this. It says it's going to be an end-time kind of sign. Jezebel, we're seeing this worship of Baal, we're seeing false beliefs abounding.
[23:07] Now, really, basically, if the religion or the belief is based on anything but the Bible, beware. Beware. It's a false god. A false god at work.
[23:18] And basically put, all false gods are another manifestation of Satan. People are bowing down to him all over the world, in various forms. We think of, as I say, the New Age movement.
[23:29] They're teaching this stuff to your children, in schools, in government schools today. This indoctrination is manifest. It's constant.
[23:40] And this constant brainwashing, this engendering of false ideas, of false worship. So Moloch was the national god of the Ammonites.
[23:51] Now, I don't really like to show pictures of false gods, but bear with me, just so that you know what I'm talking about. Of course, we don't want to venerate them, or look at their image unduly.
[24:01] But Moloch was the national god of the Ammonites, and he was associated with divination. Divination, which talks about seeking knowledge of the future, through occult means, strongly forbidden by God.
[24:13] You know those horoscopes on the newspapers, this idea that you're a Sagittarius, or whatever you want to think you are? It's all a whole load of hogwash anyway, but we know that this sort of stuff is condemned in the Bible.
[24:28] We're not to do palm reading, or fortune telling, or tea leaves, whatever, any of that sort of stuff. And that's what Moloch was known for, for divination.
[24:39] It's really occult to try to get future ideas through such mystical ways. And Moloch was the god of fire, and of child sacrifice, and he was often depicted as a bull-headed man, with arms outstretched to receive the victims.
[24:55] Moloch was associated with brutality and wealth. There's a lot of brutality today in religion, isn't there? Certain religions, you know what I'm talking about, a lot of brutality happening right now.
[25:06] It's horrific stuff. We won't go into that. But friends, it's the devil. It's the devil driving this. They might call him a god, but we know who he really is.
[25:17] He's not the god of the Bible. No way. Absolutely not. Something quite the opposite. He's a god who's brutal, and evil, and devilish. And it's interesting how the Vatican is filled with various false gods and idols.
[25:31] I know my mum and dad visited the Vatican, and they could vouch for the various statues and images. Some that are supposedly of saints, but we know actually they could well stand for Roman and Greek gods and goddesses.
[25:44] So we see here, now, it's very interesting, the Vatican has decided to approve a statue of Moloch, or Baal, the ancient god of child sacrifice. Where is it?
[25:55] Right near the Colosseum in Rome. The Vatican has wanted this here. They stationed it right there at the Colosseum in Rome. A statue, an image, of Baal, or Moloch.
[26:07] Notice the all-seeing eye, too. Of course, we know who that represents, too. It's not God. It's the all-seeing eye of the devil. And so this stuff is going on. They're putting this stuff out there, and there's much more we could say about such things, but we won't labour the point.
[26:25] So Dagon was another false god, worshipped by the Philistines. Here we see, on the left there, you see a picture of Dagon. As you see, this special fish hat, and down the back of their back is the representation of a fish.
[26:43] So Dagon was worshipped by the Philistines. He's another god that's talked about in the Bible. And the false god was depicted as half man, half fish.
[26:54] So in Babylonia and Philistia. Now, it's interesting how the popes of Rome and their bishops wear fish hats. Now, please don't buy me a fish hat, because I don't want to look like the priests of Dagon, alright?
[27:07] So this is how they wear these, they're called miters, but really when you look at it, it's like the open mouth of a fish. Just like the priests of Dagon wore, as pictured on the left and right, they're pictures of the fish god, priests, that they are priests of Dagon.
[27:25] The Bible condemns Dagon, the fish god, but yet, the Pope, sadly, is wearing just that kind of hat, a fish hat, as his bishops do.
[27:37] Friends, we should be awake to these things, we should be alert to that. We should say, hey, why would I want to have anything to do with that? That represents Dagon. We don't want to have anything to do with that.
[27:48] Friends, the good news is that God is going to bring the false gods down. Amen? We see that the Philistines placed the Ark of the Covenant, which they had captured, they placed the Ark of the Covenant into the temple of Dagon, only to find that the idol was fallen down before the Ark the next morning.
[28:08] So pictured here, see the fish god Dagon, actually was lying face down, but we see that in 1 Samuel 5, it says when they rose up early in the morning, it says Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth, before the Ark of the Lord.
[28:24] And they took Dagon and set him in his place again. Of course, it happened again. He got more and more broken up every time he fell down. And so in contemporary society, we could relate how our modern day Dagon comes in the form of consumerism, the relentless pursuit of material possessions.
[28:41] Some people are still worshipping Baal. Some people are still worshipping Dagon today in all of these different forms. Really, it's the devil cloaking himself in different disguises, isn't it? And many people have this all-consuming desire for material wealth and possessions.
[28:57] Now, that's another god in the Bible, Mammon. We see in Matthew 6, our Lord says, no man can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other.
[29:10] He cannot serve God and Mammon. Of course, it's the false god here, Mammon, money. It's that kind of idea of materialism. Some people just get obsessed with that, don't they?
[29:20] They live their whole lives just to chase more and more wealth, and it's all in vain. It's a false god. It's a false god. And for some people, maybe their worship is alike to the old false god called Nebo, the son of Baal.
[29:34] He was the Babylonian god of learning, writing, prophecy, and wisdom. And many believe so-called science today, so-called science, that denies their creator.
[29:47] They elevate this supposed false science, this false wisdom, that espouses evolution and damns their souls to hell. And Paul says to Timothy, O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings and oppositions of science falsely so-called.
[30:07] I'm hoping to communicate the message to you today that the false gods are out there and they're multiplied. They're manifest.
[30:19] They're manifold, aren't they? In lots of shapes and sizes. We may not have a temple to Baal in our city, but we've still got people bowing down to immorality and not caring for their children and letting their children get taken into false philosophy.
[30:36] We've still got the god of Dagon, this idea of falseness, of Molech, of anything other than God.
[30:50] And then we've got science falsely so-called, the Bible calls it. False gods are really God's substitutes, aren't they, when you think about it. And like I say, we may not have a temple to Baal or Molech or Dagon in our city, but we've still got this idea that something else, you know, often when we witness seeing people will say, oh, I've got my own beliefs, or I'm good, or you know, I've got my own religion, or I'll just take my chances.
[31:24] But they don't have faith in Christ, they're not saved. And friends, if you're outside of Christ, if you haven't got faith in Christ, then you're in great danger and peril. And no matter what God substitute you have, whether it's materialism, whether it's just living your life, I'll just, you know, go for it, I'll just do it, just do it, Nike, I'll just be however I want to be.
[31:49] I don't want to have a God to answer for. Well, you will have a God to answer for. You do have a God to answer for. And you may not have time, as some think, oh, I'll get right at the last minute. Some people have that kind of vain idea.
[32:01] You may not get a last minute to change your mind, to get right with God. And some would say, well, trust the science. Well, we know how the science has let us down lately, the various things that science has told us, and it's proven to be not so.
[32:16] It's not really, I'm not denying there is science, there is true science, and a lot of true Christians are true scientists, and have true scientific knowledge.
[32:26] I'm not negating that, but we know that some that are called scientists are really quite deceived, quite deceived. And the God substitutes of Australia continue to destroy people today.
[32:41] In Australia, they're still honouring animism. We've got the false God of the rainbow serpent. And for any Aboriginal people present, please understand, we're not against Aboriginal people.
[32:54] We very much, I very much love Aboriginal people. But this idea of the Aboriginal dream time, it's another false God, isn't it? It's another false philosophy. And we must renounce all false gods, including the rainbow serpent, including the Aboriginal dream time ideas, because really the devil's behind anything that's not the God of the Bible.
[33:16] If it's spiritual, a lot of the things these days, when you encounter people in discussions, they say, oh, I'm spiritual. But what they mean is, I sit at the feet of Buddha and meditate, or I'm off with the fairies, or this or that, whatever philosophy they pick and choose from for the day.
[33:38] Some just actually worship nature and such ideas. False spirits. I know some people are trying to tell me they go to the spiritualist church and they communicate with dead relatives.
[33:51] Of course, we know that's not actually what's happening when they go to the spiritualist church, or they use Ouija boards. It's not dead relatives that are talking to them. It's actually demonic entities.
[34:03] It's actually demonic. It's false spirituality. And we should steer right away from that. Don't touch that. Don't touch that. Don't touch that. The false gods.
[34:14] We must renounce all of them, every single one of them. The false gods. When we think about back in history, back in the Bible, the false gods were involved with practices of self-harm, debauchery.
[34:27] We see the prophets of Baal, they cut themselves. I thought gashing blood would somehow honour their false god, the devil, as they worship, as they sought to worship.
[34:38] We see people today captive to false ideas, addicted to substances, vices, self-destructive behaviours. Jesus has come to set you free.
[34:51] We heard about redemption. He wants to set the captives free. There's a liberty. There's a liberation. There's some things we might still have trouble getting rid of, but God will help you. God will give you the grace.
[35:02] God helping you, he'll help you to get rid of anything that's doubtful. Sometimes it can take time, but God is patient, and God is gracious. We see the false gods of substance abuse, of gambling.
[35:18] Gambling gets a grip on people. Gaming. Seen stuff about video games now. It's horrendous. It's like they're going into another world. They're taken out into another portal, into another dimension, and they get obsessed with it, such that they lose track of reality.
[35:34] There's a spiritual element there, I think. Don't you? To go off with the fairies into some other world, fighting some imaginary war, or going through some imaginary adventure scenes.
[35:48] I mean, it all sounds quite innocent, but where does it lead to? Where is it going? Who's behind all that? Do you want to obsess us, and take us to such a place? And people are being destroyed.
[35:59] The false gods are happening in Australia. They're happening in our lounge rooms, in our living rooms, in our bedrooms. People are being destroyed by this physical, emotional, and spiritual attack.
[36:11] It's the devil behind these things, people. And friends, our only hope is the exclusive, exclusive worship of the one true God. We shouldn't be building memorials to Baal, or accommodating false gods in our own lives and homes.
[36:26] What should we be doing? We should be like King Asa. It says, He did what was good and right, in the eyes of the Lord his God. King Asa, it says, He took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and He break down the images, and He cut down the groves.
[36:42] Think of the idols, you know, as we saw, as we first pictured it there, as the men of God, as the people of God. They took the hammer, and the chisel, and they smashed down these false idols.
[36:55] That's what we should be doing people today, isn't it? What are the idols in our own lives? We could think, well, I'm not a worshipper of Baal. I'm not a worshipper of Moloch or Dagon. But other things that are like that, the worship of the world, the flesh, the devil.
[37:10] Is it anything that we elevate above our true God and Lord? Is it pleasure? Is it entertainment? Is it religion, philosophy, culture, possessions, money, our comforts?
[37:23] The Bible says to tear down the false gods and worship the true and living God. The true and living God. Let us pray.
[37:34] Lord, we thank you that your word tells us about these false gods, these images, these idols. Lord, we know we're not living back in those times when such a physical sign or image would be.
[37:48] Yet, Lord, we pray that you would minister to us in our own lives help us to see what may be questionable, what may be inappropriate.
[37:59] Lord, we know that such false gods were associated with immoral living, with a focus on pleasure and satisfying self and sin.
[38:12] Lord, help us to trust you. Lord, deal with our sin. We want to know your grace and know your mighty power. We pray each one might have that trust to say, I trust in you, Lord.
[38:27] Lord, Master, Jesus, that you would take my life. Help me to be that one that follows you. Help me to see what idols I have and tear them down and pulverize them to sand.
[38:43] Lord, if there be anything in my life that you would rid me of it and help me, Lord, to choose that true worship. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
