If God has found it necessary to use someone, it is to your advantage to celebrate that person. A lack of honour can effect what God can do through a person for a people. For this reason, it is vital that you honour the vessel that God uses.
[0:00] Welcome. Thank you for choosing to listen to another faith-building message by Pastor David Entry. Faith comes by hearing and by hearing the Word of God.
[0:11] May your knowledge of Jesus Christ increase as you listen. Be blessed. Jesus could not do many miracles because he said that a prophet is not without honour except in his own country, amongst his own people.
[0:32] So sometimes when there is lack of honour, it has a way of affecting what God can do to a person. And I want to show you something. In Luke chapter 7, it's a long one from 36.
[0:44] It says that, And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house and sat down to meet. That means he sat down to eat.
[0:56] When you come across the word sat to meet, it means he sat down to eat. Alright. So he sat down to meet. And behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meet in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment.
[1:17] And what did she do? And she stood at his feet behind him, weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hair of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
[1:38] This woman did quite a few things. She was weeping. She used her tears to wipe his feet. And she used her hair to clean his feet. And then when she finished, the very expensive oil she had, she didn't sell it.
[1:55] She didn't hide it. She didn't go and give it to her boyfriend, or her wife. She didn't go and do it. She poured that anointing oil on Jesus.
[2:07] When people have a problem and say, but why do you have to celebrate a man God has chosen? Tell them that it's one of the smartest things you can do for your life. Wow.
[2:17] Is it not wise to celebrate or to honor whom God honors? Oh, yes. Yes. To value whom God values.
[2:31] To celebrate whom God celebrates. Yes, yes, yes. It's just the right thing to do. How beautiful are the feet of those that preach the gospel? When a person is genuinely repented, he tends to like, or she tends to have a desire and a zeal for the people of God, or the one who preaches the gospel to them.
[2:52] When you hear your pastor's voice, you are actually, you don't know why you are that happy. But when you want to celebrate whom God celebrates, it's a sign that you are on the side of God. This woman brought the oil, poured it on the feet of Jesus.
[3:04] Let me just read through and then I'll end. Verse 39. Now when the Pharisee, which had beaten him, saw it, he stood within himself, saying, this man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is, that touches him.
[3:21] For she is a sinner. Can you imagine? A top, top, lady in town. Okay. Escort. Using her, her to rub your feet.
[3:33] My God. But the Lord Jesus said, the prince of this world comes, he has nothing in me. So leave her to do whatever. Because the man said, hey, this woman is touching him and he doesn't know that something different is touching him.
[3:49] The worldly people will always have the aversion of our attitude and our love for God and his people. They will have the aversion and some of them, they will complain, why do you do this too much?
[4:01] The world will always have a Godless definition and opinion about how we should treat somebody God uses. Yes, yes, yes. The best thing you can ever encounter in life is a person through whom God is going to reach to you.
[4:16] Amen. When someone says, oh God, God will reach me, God is between me and God, God will reach me personally. They don't understand Christianity. God has never reached to anybody personally since Jesus went.
[4:27] Hmm. Never. He's always used others. Even to the extent that the Bible, God chose not to bring it from heaven. He chose to use men to write it. Hmm.
[4:38] God will never reach out to anybody without other men. And when we begin to understand and celebrate and honor the vessels God used and honor them not because they are human beings but because God has found it necessary to use them.
[4:53] It makes the blessings of God through their life seamlessly flowing towards us. Yes, yes, yes, yes. The blessings of God will be upon your life. Amen. Amen. Let me finish this typically.
[5:05] Verse 40. And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have something to say to you. And he said, Master, speak on, say on. There was a certain creditor who had two debtors.
[5:16] One owed him 500 pounds or let's say pounds, 500 pounds and the other 50 pounds. And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me, wherefore, which of them will love him most?
[5:31] Simon answered and said, I suppose that he to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, thou hast rightly judged. And he turned to the woman, Jesus turned to the woman and said to Simon, have you seen this woman?
[5:46] I entered into your house and you gave me no water to wash my feet. But she had washed my feet with her tears. Wipe them with the hair on her head.
[5:58] You gave me no kiss. But this woman since the time I came in does not cease to kiss my feet. My head with oil did it not anoint.
[6:10] But this woman has anointed my feet with ointment. Wherefore, I say to you, her sins which are many are forgiven for she loves much.
[6:22] So he said, let me read you. Wherefore, I say to you, her sins which are many are forgiven for she loves much. But to whom later is forgiven the same loves later. And he said to the woman, thy sins are forgiven.
[6:35] Because of this love expression, it's moved to heaven. Jesus said, you're simply forgiven. And when you go to John chapter 12, Mary also, also brought an alabaster box, brought it, broke it.
[6:47] And when she spilled it on Jesus or used it to rub the jelly feet, the Bible says the whole house was filled with the perfume. You can't say you didn't know somebody was being honored.
[6:59] You can't say it. Because one Mary decided to take it upon herself and bring Jesus in the midst of everybody. Honor that would be obvious to everybody. The Bible said the whole house was filled with the perfume.
[7:11] And then some started criticizing. Anytime you choose to honor whom God is honoring, people will always criticize. Some started criticizing and Jesus said, leave her alone.
[7:21] But she has done this to connect to the purpose for which I came. She's connected herself to my death. And so wherever this gospel is preached, this woman whom you are disdaining, whom you are looking down on, wherever this gospel is preached, she will be remembered.
[7:36] Hallelujah. You can honor an anointing and wherever the anointing makes impact, heaven will ignore you. Amen. Thank you for listening.
