With God, It's Mercy Not Merit

[0:11] May your knowledge of Jesus Christ increase as you listen. Be blessed. I believe that God has been merciful to us.

[0:23] The tax collector or the publican, he said, Be merciful to me, O Lord.

[0:36] When he looked at his conditions, he looked at where he was coming from and what he needed. He considered where he was coming from, his credit history, his track record, and he considers what he actually needs for his future.

[1:01] He knew that he told me to take mercy. Amen. Because some of us, there's nothing you bring to the table apart from a rotten history.

[1:12] Some of us, if they dig very deep into our past mistakes and things that we were able to say and do, if they dig into us, it's only dirty, dirty stuff and rotten skeletons or rotten stuff that will be found.

[1:35] So for some of us, we don't come and say, God, don't you know you have to do this? No, we come and say, Lord, have mercy on me.

[1:48] And nobody, watch this, nobody cries for mercy and goes unattended to by heaven. Amen.

[1:59] Amen. God hears the cry of mercy so quickly. Remember the story of blind biting miles. He cried.

[2:10] He said, Jesus, Mark chapter 10 from verse 46, 47. Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.

[2:22] The noise he was making didn't matter anymore. The content of his cry was more important than the intensity of the cry. Or was more important than the nature of the cry.

[2:35] The content. He cried. Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. God is a God of mercy.

[2:48] The woman, the Seraphim woman in the regions of Canaan, in Matthew chapter 15 from verse 22, 23 there. And Bible said, she came and was crying after Jesus.

[3:02] And he told Jesus, please, please do something. Help me. Help me. Help me. He worships a lot. Help me. Lord, help me.

[3:14] She asks for help. In other words, don't consider my mess. Because she knew that she didn't deserve what she was asking for. Maybe there's somebody on this platform watching now who knows in your heart that you don't deserve what you are trying to ask for.

[3:37] I'm very happy to announce to you that there are a lot of us on this platform just at your level. We are all the same. There is nothing that God does for me I deserve.

[3:50] There's nothing. Does that mean I go around doing things that will still keep me in the regions, in the realm of not deserving? No. It's a sign that I don't respect God.

[4:03] It's a sign that I don't honor anything that God does for me. So Jesus puts it in this way. In Matthew chapter 7 verse 6. Don't cast your pearl before swine.

[4:14] God will not give. He said, don't give holy things to dogs. Can you imagine? Goodness of God. You are a dog returning to your vomit. You are on your way to the vomit. You are not interested in changing.

[4:25] And you say, oh God, just have mercy on me. One day I might change. No. You start with repentance. I repent. Have mercy on me. When you are asking for mercy, what you mean is, I do not intend to go back against you again.

[4:38] That's genuine cry of mercy. So let's get it in a proper perspective. The fact that none of us deserve what we are asking God for does not mean God will just do it because you don't deserve it.

[4:52] No. God does it purely based on his mercies, not merit. Most of us, be careful you don't ask for merit. Because if you ask for merit, you will get it.

[5:04] If you ask God for merit, you might, no, you might, you will get it. And you wouldn't like it. We will always, as long as we remain human beings, we should always come to God and ask for mercy.

[5:19] Ask for mercy. Paul said, I was an injurious mercy. First Timothy chapter 1 verse 13. I was an injurious person. I persecuted the church. But I obtained mercy.

[5:31] That's why he could be a preacher. A killer turned preacher. What was the change? Mercy. He obtained mercy. Tonight, I'm just letting somebody know that whatever you are believing God for, once you have a repentant heart, you don't have to deserve it to receive it.

[5:48] You don't have to merit it to receive it. You can just mercy your way into it. Oh, somebody is mercy your way into your new face. That's what I'm trying to tell. I'm trying to tell you that mercy still works.

[6:01] Yes. Mercy still works. Great is your mercy towards me. Ephesians chapter 2 verse 4. But God, who is rich in mercy. Hallelujah.

[6:13] Hallelujah. Hallelujah. But God, who is rich in mercy. Who is rich in mercy. Who is rich in mercy because of his great love he has towards us.

[6:25] Even when we were dead. Because of the wealth of his mercy. The riches of his mercy. Even when we were dead in our sins. He quickened us. He did something about our conditions.

[6:36] So you don't have to deserve it. But you have to believe God for mercy. That is why I said, therefore, let us come boldly before the throne of grace. Hebrews 4 verse 16. That we might obtain.

[6:46] It didn't say grace. Watch the scripture very carefully. Mercy goes further than grace. I've been teaching it. Mercy goes further. Mercy will reach out to our dirty state.

[6:58] Our miserable, undeserving state. And pull us out. And then grace can come as a cloth on us. So it's just like someone going to wear wedding gown.

[7:11] White wedding gown. But you have been maybe in the pantry or in the kitchen. Cooking for the wedding and doing so much.

[7:23] But you can't come from there and straight wear the wedding gown. So the wedding gown is grace. But you need to clean up in order to step into the grace.

[7:35] So mercy is the detergent. It's the soap and the water and the bathroom. That will clean you up so that grace can work with you. Hallelujah. So mercy goes further.

[7:47] Mercy goes further. Mercy goes. Mercy picks you from the pits and brings you up. So that grace can take you up. Mercy pulls you out of the mess.

[7:57] Mercy pulls you out of the non-deserving state. Mercy pulls you out. Actually, when you are a sinner, you are a criminal in the eyes of God and heaven.

[8:09] So you are actually wanted. But mercy comes to, instead of judgment, mercy comes to stay in the way of judgment. So you don't get the judgment. And then so grace can come on you. So people look at you and God is favoring you.

[8:21] And they don't understand. They say, but this girl, this guy, how? How can she be getting all these testimonies? How can this happen to her? I should have been married before her. I should have got a better job before him. I should have that, that, that.

[8:32] Because I'm that, that, that. I should have done it. But guess what? Mercy is just speaking for you. And you are riding on the wheels of mercy. Mercy. So when you don't deserve it, mercy. And everybody who cries out for mercy, God will always show you mercy.

[8:47] Bible says in Romans chapter 5, I like it. Sorry. I said chapter 9, verse 15. He says that, he said to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy. And I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy.

[9:00] And I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. Watch verse 16. So then it is not of him that willeth, neither it is of him that runeth. But, oh, God, God, please, please.

[9:12] Someone talk to you. It's like a dream. This thing sounds like a dream. It's of God who shows mercy. It's of God who shows mercy. It is not of him that willeth. Neither is it of him that runeth.

[9:23] But it is God. God. God. It's not so much I will do this. Me. Look at what I will do. I will do it. I'm able to do this. I'm able to do that. See what I will do. No, it's not of him that willeth. It's not of him that.

[9:34] You are fast in your running. Fast in your achieving. You are a great achiever. He said, no. When it comes to certain things, it is of God who shows mercy. Tonight, I have good news for you. That mercy has located.

[9:46] Amen. Shout hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Those who don't understand it, they should take it up with God. They should take it up with God.

[9:57] Go to God. Let them go to God and go and complain. But as for God, his way is perfect. The word of the Lord is tried. He's a buckler to all those who trust in him. I see mercy speaking for you.

[10:09] Mercy speaking for you. Mercy speaking. Hey, hey, hey. Listen, listen, listen. I'm telling you, your history is too bad for you to get certain type of testimonies.

[10:19] Your history is too bad. But guess what? Mercy. Mercy. Mercy is giving you a clean slate. Mercy is covering. The Bible says that mercy triumphs over judgment.

[10:31] Yes. Mercy. Rejoices over judgment. Or it triumphs over judgment. So instead of judgment coming against you, there's some judgment that must be entered against you.

[10:43] It's like a county court judgment. Judgment is without mercy. Those were mercy triumphs over judgment. Did you see that? So judgment, county court judgment, CCJ, is on your, even mobile phones will not give you a contract.

[11:02] Mobile phone companies will not give you a contract. Bicycle companies will not give you a contract. I mean, I'm telling you. And you want to buy a house, you want a mortgage.

[11:13] Suddenly, you went to the mortgage place and for some reason, I'm talking about spiritual matters, okay? I'm not saying don't fix your credit history and think you can still. I'm talking about spiritual matters.

[11:24] What fixes your credit history before God, it is his mercies. It is mercy. It's not of him that ran it. Neither is it of him that will it. It's his mercy. So no one, none of us should come to the state where you feel you deserve what God has to do.

[11:39] He owes you. God owes us nothing. He owes us nothing. But he's just full of mercy. And if you can come and appeal to the mercies of God. So when they were going to fight, they were going for war.

[11:50] This is what happened. The enemies were coming. They couldn't do anything about it. And they knew that these people were stronger than us. They will overpower us. So what we going to do? What we going to do?

[12:01] So they said, no problem. Sons of Jehoshaphat and the people of Israel. The battle is the loss. All you got to do is sing. Sing. And do you know what they sang? Most of us sometimes miss the content of the song.

[12:12] The song. The lyrics of the song. Very important. In 2 Chronicles 20. From verse 21. Bible says, they appointed the choir. That's the singers. That should go before the army.

[12:23] And to say, praise the Lord for what his... Oh my goodness. That's the content. The content. The lyrics of the singing.

[12:35] The lyrics of the song was, praise the Lord. Why? For his mercy endures forever. Mercy will speak for you. Mercy will speak for you. Mercy will speak for you.

[12:46] Mercy will speak. I see mercy changing somebody's story. Mercy is a game changer. Mercy is a game changer. Mercy is a game changer.

[12:57] Mercy is a game changer. Listen. When he... Oh, thank you Jesus. Let me say this and we move on. When it comes to prayer. And it comes to praying. Mercy must always go ahead.

[13:11] That's why I said, come boldly before the throne of grace. Hebrews chapter 4 verse 16. That you might obtain mercy. First. Mercy. Because mercy will cover...

[13:21] Where you deserve judgment. It will cover all the mercy stuff. Okay. The mercy. Mercy. Mercy will cover the mercy.

[13:31] Mercy. Mercy. The mercy in your life. The mercy stuff. So mercy will cover the mercy stuff in your life. So that now you are in a position for you to obtain grace to help.

[13:45] Ah, Kandaman Shokayana. Grace to help in time of need. So when you came, you came dirty. When you came, you came with not so good record credit history.

[13:57] But you came to God in prayer. And then when you approached God, the first thing you did was to ask mercy. And when you ask mercy, you obtain mercy. And when you obtain mercy, suddenly, now in the field, in the realm of mercy, you are entitled.

[14:13] You are in a position where God can give you what you never deserved. God, the grace. That's grace. God doing, giving you what you actually don't deserve. The judgment you deserve, mercy say no.

[14:24] And the grace you don't deserve, the goodness you don't deserve, grace say no problem. Just add it. Just give it to him. Just give it to him. Just give it to him. I see grace working for you.

[14:35] I see grace speaking for you. I see mercy and grace coming to speak for you in the mighty name of Jesus. Now does it make sense when the tax collector or the publican in Luke chapter 18, verse 13, when he went to the temple and he prayed and he couldn't even lift his head up to heaven.

[14:54] Normally, the Jewish style of prayer is to lift your head up. He couldn't lift his head. He stood afar off. He couldn't come near. Remember, Bible says that we who were far off have not been brought near.

[15:05] This tax collector stood afar off and couldn't come near. He could not lift up so much as his eyes onto heaven. But did what?

[15:16] He was beating his breast. Do you know what it means? He said, ah, oh, I need help. I don't deserve it. I don't know what I will do now. I've messed up all my chances. Ah, oh.

[15:28] And then he'll go like this. God. God. I don't know what to say. Ah.

[15:39] Ah. Ah. Have mercy on me. He doesn't even know what to. Sometimes, some people say, I don't know what to pray. I don't know what to pray.

[15:50] Yeah, ask for mercy. Yes, yes. Ask for mercy. You don't know. Amen. The way some people are praying. Oh, God. Say, oh, Lord. The God opened the mouth of the well.

[16:04] And Jonah came out. Oh. I'm telling you. And the God who command causes the apothecary to smell. Wow. These people are praying.

[16:14] And you are wondering. Can I ever pray like this? And it's not even just that. When you look back, you have some records that are behind you that are not good at all.

[16:25] And Satan keeps reminding you of your past. It keeps reminding you. It keeps reminding you of why you have the STD. And why you should have it. Wow.

[16:36] It keeps reminding you. Yeah. It keeps reminding you. It keeps reminding you why you should remain sick. It keeps reminding you why you should suffer. It keeps reminding you.

[16:47] But thank God for mercy. Mercy treats everybody like people who. Mercy treats the beneficiaries of mercy. As though they had never done anything wrong.

[17:00] Lamentations chapter 3 verse 22 and 23. 23 particularly and 24. It says that. Or 22.

[17:10] It says that. It's of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed. Because his compassion. His compassions fail not.

[17:23] It's his mercy. That we are not consumed. Consumed. Now, take note of the word consumed. Aha. So, anything that wants to consume your future.

[17:37] Consume your health. It's the mercy of God that will stand against it. Yeah. It's because of God's mercy. If someone shout, Mercy! Mercy!

[17:48] Mercy! Mercy! It's because of God's mercies that we are not consumed. It's God. It says, It's of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed.

[18:00] Because his compassion. He's very merciful. Compassionate. The man came to Jesus Christ in Mark chapter 9 verse 21.

[18:11] And he said, This my son, A devil comes on him and throws him all around. And sometimes tries to kill him by putting him in fire. But if you can do anything, Be compassionate on us.

[18:22] Oftentimes, Into fire destroys him. But if thou can't do anything, Have compassion. How does the New King James put it? If thou can't do anything, Have compassion on us.

[18:34] Show us. That's another way of saying, Have mercy on us. And I think one of the translations, New Living translations says that, Have mercy on us and help us. The woman I quoted earlier in Matthew chapter 20, Sorry, Chapter 15 verse 20, Verse 22.

[18:51] The woman came and she was asking for mercy. Before later, She came and worshipped and said, Help us. He said, That she cried after them saying, Have mercy on me.

[19:01] Oh Lord, Thou son of David. The same thing blind Bartimaeus said. Have mercy on me. Have mercy on me. Have mercy on me.

[19:13] Some of us, One of the things you have to accept that you have become, Is you have become a vessel of mercy. In other words, You are an object of God's mercy.

[19:25] When God looks at you, He deals with you with mercy. According to Romans chapter, I think, 9, 23. Yeah. Vessels of his mercy.

[19:38] We are vessels of mercy. Hallelujah. We are vessels, But vessels that, Only his message deal with that. Vessels of mercy. That he might make known the riches of his glory on us.

[19:51] We are the vessels of his mercy, Which he had prepared before, Which he had prepared, Which he had for prepared unto glory. He has prepared this thing, That he will show mercy on us.

[20:02] So, Pastor, I really go what you are saying, But what are you trying to still say? What I'm trying to drive at, I want it to enter your subconsciousness, That you, What's the things that are about to happen, The testimonies, The multiple testimonies, You are about to walk in, Is purely an act of God's mercy.

[20:24] Amen. So, What it does to you is, You are always grateful, Because you know you never deserved it. Amen. You are always grateful, You know what you actually deserved, What you merited, Didn't get to you.

[20:41] But God actually sidestepped, What you deserved, And gave you, Something better than you deserve. Mercy. And anyone who is mercy conscious, Remains humble, In the sight of God, And in the congregation of the saints.

[21:00] Anyone who is mercy conscious, Is humble. Is humble. Can you imagine, That you are in court, God forbid, And you are guilty, And you are in court, And you don't want to go to prison, You don't want to be punished, And, You just, They say, You just call the judge, Address him, My lord.

[21:23] You even say, My lord lord, Because you just, You know you don't, Why should I address him, My lord? You, It doesn't mean I'll catch you, Even if, He's your father's enemy, Act enemy, You, At that moment, You know you are at fault, And you need him to help you, You will be nice.

[21:41] See, But when people come to God, And they feel, That's the problem of, I'm about to say something, One of some of the things, I say that are, Very strong, Are you ready for this? Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, please, Yes, Yes, Yes, That is the problem, Of the church shoppers, And church hoppers, Okay, Yes, They hop from churches, And actually, That's not the problem, Of the pastors, That are looking for, Customers, And clients, you are more prone or likely to be you to be oriented towards treating people in a way that you can't pastor them with God's word all scriptures give by the inspiration of God and it's profitable for doctrine yeah for doctrine that's teachings that's why I'm teaching that's what you use ghost word for it's not the great decorates your house with Bibles no it's you read it and teach it all right so those of you who are increasing your Bible collection make it make sure that you are going to also teach it it's important share it okay if this thing doesn't enter you is a waste of destiny you are wasting money let it let it enter you my job is to download this thing into me so that out of their burdens of the heart the mouth will speak and you'll be a blessing to somebody so all scripture is given by the inspiration of God and it is profitable for what for doctrine and not only doctrine is profitable for reproof someone who can tell you the pastor has the right to be able to tell you this is not allowed and you can't be doing it some people say it's my own life I want to do what I know that you are you coming if you have to be pastored somebody would tell you you can do this somebody will tell you it's wrong to do this it's wrong it's wrong to go and live with a person you are not married to it's wrong someone must be able to not be afraid and then you say okay how the problem of modern day churches is that they are afraid you take your tithe away or you join another church because the other pastor is advertising heavily it's advertising heavily and when you come they come and test the experience and they'll give you first class experience first this first come and come we love you happy you are here and so we treat you like you know you have first class business and emirates or British Airways first class we treat you and everybody come to church and they are spec here I'm very important you are not you are not that important please you are not that important you need mercy you you need mercy humble yourself humble yourself humble yourself have a little coming quietly don't come in noisily come in quietly let us teach you with God's Word and reprove you where it is it is necessary and so for can I preach at all can I preach at all can I preach at all can I preach at all improve you so for instructions and so for for doctrine second Timothy chapter 3 verse 16 for doctrine for it's profitable for doctrine for reproof for correction and for instructions in righteousness so the old scripture is given and is profitable for reproof so the modern day church tradition is is so competitive that our approach especially we pastors our approach to church has generated church hoppers and church shoppers shoppers shop from church to church hop from church to church it's like church tourists just tourists and maybe check butterfly moving from one nectar to another nectar and then I like this place their worship is good I like this and no one no one can settle you down disciple you and avatar and avatar church mama you know what I'm gonna look for it in addition

[26:50] I think there's I think there's a I I love love love you love for three years it's your lover and you don't plan to commit your future to him or your future to let you want just and join romance from you are used are my lover i was telling you hey lady he's using you can't you see can't you see he's just using you for his instant gratification gentleman can't you see he's you she's using you she doesn't want to be committed to you i want someone who will be committed to me for good in good times and bad times yes yes when things when there's lockdown he's committed to when there's no lockdown but why would you want someone who is only committed to you when you look nice when your face has no smooth has no bumps and everything is smooth one day when your body changes and you become old what would they do with this already who come for that already who so anyone the one who who is enjoying your freshness you must make them commit to your old your when when you are very old they must be there yes yes yes yes yes but if your freshness has been enjoyed by somebody why should me why should i come for the for the rest that no one likes no i don't want to come for it so in the good times and in the bad times commitment commitment many people don't like commitment they don't want even to be committed to a nation they don't want to be committed to a company they don't want to be committed to uh a certain company they don't want to be committed we live in a generation of consumerism people are not committed so it has invaded the church and it has forced many pastors to find different ways of attracting customers and clients wow wow customers and we have to change our music the music you like the kind of things you want to hear the kind of we have everything must be designed just to just to give you treatment and i'm talking about treatment it's soulish enjoyment oh this is what i like but you're on your way to missing heaven you're on your way to missing heaven or even if you make it to heaven what reward will you get what will what since you have prioritized you have met what you like on earth about your worship you have made it more important than your commitment to god and his work and his people there's no reward for you in heaven i'm telling you if you make it to no reward no reward no reward no reward no reward and we are going to die true we are all going to die everybody's going so why are we not preparing to meet the master why are we not preparing to meet the master why are you not preparing to meet the master but you you you everybody's going everybody's going and everybody this year you watch there's some big big names that will go yeah wow some head of dates and some things i'm telling you i'm speaking as a prophet yeah everybody's going i believe everybody's going so prepare to meet the master yes and the word of god is meant to be treating you to be working on you so but when you come to for treatment and you come with you know can you imagine you're going to hospital and they have to um do maybe minor surgery

[32:45] Thank God, guess what? He is your God. Hallelujah. Thank God he is God and thank God he is your God. Thank God he is God and thank God he is your God.

[32:56] And guess what? Thank God, he is on your side. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. He is on your side. Don't go. He is on your side. I don't care what they have said against you.

[33:09] I don't care what has gone wrong in your past. I don't care the things that you have done in the past. I know God is a God of mercy. God is a God of mercy. Sister, I know your health is a big border for you.

[33:24] Brother, I know your health is a big border for you. You left church and you are messing things up in your life. And now look at where you are. I don't care. God will still help you. I believe you deserve.

[33:34] You deserve the mercy of God. You deserve the mercy of Jesus. There's nothing we deserve but the mercy when we come with the heart of humility. I believe God.

[33:45] God is a God of mercy and he will show you mercy. We help you. Amen. We help you. We help you. Just ask him for. Humble yourself and say, God, have mercy on me.

[33:56] Amen. Don't let anything offend you. Don't let anything offend you. Don't let the enemy trip you out. But God will have mercy on you. I came to tell you. I'm a prophet and I'm prophesying to you that the mercy of God is available for you.
