The Love Affair

[0:00] Thank you for choosing to listen to today's message by Reverend Dr. David Entry. We know you will be blessed as you seek and serve God. We believe that this message will stir up a desire for more of God even as you listen.

[0:14] Be blessed. What did I say I was going to talk about? Love affair. When did I say love affair? Last week.

[0:26] By last Sunday. What did I say? What did I say last Sunday? Oh. God's marriage.

[0:37] Yeah, I said that. That would sound very offensive in the ears of a lot of religious guys. So you can't be talking about God's marriage. Because they think they can't take it.

[0:48] So it's not necessary you talk about. How can you say God has marriage? So I was talking about what else did I say? Possibly we'll call it. The universal couple.

[1:02] The universal couple. And then what else? Holy romance. It's way flow. Because I really want to teach some good stuff.

[1:15] It will require a lot of scriptures. Remember, if you're a Christian, your approach to scripture should be that scripture should speak for itself.

[1:29] And I'm holding this. We have all kinds of people who are trying to speak for their scriptures. A pastor's job is to help you.

[1:41] So in a lot of circles, it's actually called expository or expositional preaching. Expository. To expository.

[1:51] To expository means to explain. The Bible is saying this. So when we actually meet in church and have come together, there must be some explanation in the text.

[2:05] That's what Christian leadership is essentially about. Christian leadership is essentially about rightly dividing the word of truth.

[2:19] Remember? That's Christian leadership. Rightly dividing the word. It is the word of truth. In other words, the words concerning truth.

[2:35] If you want to know what is true, then you have to come to the text of scripture. All right. So scripture should speak for itself.

[2:48] And every Christian leader must be a word broker. Word broker.

[3:02] So those of you who have plans to be pastors and leaders, it has not got nothing to do with your suit. It's not got nothing to do with your shoe.

[3:15] It's not got anything to do with how. It's not dependent on how nice you are. You can be a nice person. That doesn't necessarily mean you should be a pastor.

[3:27] A pastor is supposed to be a broker of God's word. So a pastor who doesn't have God's word in his hand and in his mouth is professional malpractice.

[3:45] It is not acceptable. All right. I'm going to be sharing some very interesting things. I pray. You know, you have to pray for me that today I won't go off.

[4:19] All right. Let's go to Exodus. Sorry. Deuteronomy chapter 7. Joshua, we're going to read from verse 1. Deuteronomy chapter 7 from verse 1.

[4:45] All right. This is going to be a long one. But read it. You see some interesting things inside. Let's go. When the Lord your God... No, Joshua, read it. When the Lord your God brings you into the land which you go to possess and has cast out many nations before you.

[5:01] God knows how to cast people out before you. Don't worry. No one will take your husband. God knows how to cast people out. You know, there are people... There will always be people before you. Yeah.

[5:13] There will always be people. There were guys before me, even when I came to Pastaro. Even though she was in a Bible school one day, and a guy, before I showed up, a guy told her that God has showed me.

[5:28] Yeah. Witness Bible school years ago in Akra. God has told me you'll be my wife. She said, no, forget it. I don't do that. I said, no, no, no. I'm just telling you.

[5:38] It's not subject to your opinion. See? Some people are very on that show. I don't want to go too off, so let's go.

[5:48] There will always be people before you. There are always people before you. You are not the first. But God has a way of clearing the way for you if he's sending you somewhere.

[6:01] So that's why every believer must know how to trust God. Don't be afraid of the impossibilities ahead of you. If when God is ready for us to have a permanent place, it doesn't matter who is occupying what and what law.

[6:17] No, no. Those things don't matter. God knows how to just get you there. All right. Let me give you a typical example. He said, one day, I'm going to send a redeemer to redeem my people after 400 years in Egypt.

[6:30] 400 years. Around that time, the king, because of the influence of the devil, it's not stated in the text, but he felt like the Jews were multiplying exceedingly.

[6:45] So let's curtail their increase or allow them to increase, but let's stop their influence. So the way to stop the influence of a people is to neutralize the men.

[6:57] You South London brothers and sisters, listen to me. You can't slow down the strength of a people when the men are intact.

[7:11] If you can neutralize the men, the women will take over. And you have, you see, it's passed from father to son. Fathers to sons.

[7:22] It's very important. Are you trying to say women can't? No, no, no, no, no. Please, please, please. Please, for goodness sake, I've not said anything about women. I'm trying to tell you how things pass down generations.

[7:36] But what I'm trying to say is that when they wanted to neutralize them, they said, kill the boys as soon as they are born. Let them join the gangs. Let them, just force them to be thinking about life, that life is all about pleasure.

[7:53] People, they will not make it, it doesn't matter. And they just, just pleasure, girls, drugs, and foolishness. So when they are, in their teenage, they are no more interested in schooling.

[8:04] If you can do that, build nice gyms, nice flats, nice libraries for them, it will take them anywhere.

[8:17] Because library doesn't determine what you become in life. Gym, nice gym. Regeneration. Regeneration.

[8:28] Regeneration. Regeneration. Regeneration. Let's just, just change the whole environment. Let's do some nice park. People can go and, you know, play so that the energy can be dispersed. They will come on.

[8:40] It's upbringing. Upbringing. If you can suck the fathers from the house, the boys will be a victim of gangs. So try and tighten the economic situation that it's all about work, work, work, work, work, work.

[8:58] When this one is going out, the father is going, the mother is coming, when they are coming. So it's work, work. By the time, after that time, they are just mates. There are no more friends. They are just there. And it's just because of the children.

[9:09] After that time, that guy, any man who stays always at work, always, there will be a woman waiting for you. Oh, yeah, yeah. Women are always waiting. It's like the way we wait for the bus.

[9:23] Women, women. I'm telling you, a number, the young women here, young men here, I can tell you, a higher percentage of women here are waiting for a man.

[9:38] It's okay. It's a natural order. So that's fine. It's a natural order. So there's nothing, please, don't say because I won't wait for a man. I'm telling you. That way it's carrying you their strength.

[9:55] Praise the Lord. So it's okay. It's okay to be alert. Like we are young lady and an eligible bachelor has stepped into the church and is saying hello.

[10:08] We just forget. No, please, get yourself, just fix yourself, just in case. Just in case. I don't know, but I know it happens in places, some other nations.

[10:26] It's not too common though. You see a woman kneeling down asking them, will you marry me? No, you can't go and ask. They have to come. So you position. Yeah.

[10:37] So anyway. So they destroyed the future of the men. Make them lazy mentally.

[10:50] Help them not to know where to stop. Help them to just pursue. Follow their appetite. Help them. Help them. They will destroy themselves.

[11:01] Help them. So well, he came up with a decision. Pharaoh said, when the children are born, check. If it's a male, kill him. If it's a female, allow her to live.

[11:14] Why? They can still multiply, but not in the men's side. Because they will continue their strength. So anyway. It was around that time, according to Acts chapter 7.

[11:26] Around that time, Moses was born. Moses was born at the time they said, let's execute every male child. God, you should have brought Moses earlier.

[11:39] God, you should have waited until a new Pharaoh comes. Who feels now we've killed all the men. So we need a few to just boost the... Because if it's only women, eventually we'll be giving birth.

[11:53] And you have strong manpower for the work. So wait. But God said, no problem. I operate within my own timing. Not unto God are all his works from the foundation of the earth.

[12:05] According to, I think, Acts 14, 18 or 15, 18. Somewhere there. Not unto God. So God decided that it was that time Moses was born. Not by accident. Nobody here was born by accident.

[12:17] Your conception may be an accident. But your birth is certainly not. Because God, for all you may do. No, you are the Moses.

[12:28] Moses was born at that time. At this time, Moses was born. What time? The bad timing. Humanly speaking, but divinely speaking, it was the right timing. At this time, Moses was born.

[12:41] And that time they said, let's kill all the boys. Moses was born. And, you know, to put insult, to add insult to injury. God said, oh, okay. You want to clear the deliverer who is coming?

[12:56] You want to kill him? I'll make sure that you are the one who will feed him and raise him. Moses was fed and raised by his enemy.

[13:10] And it's different if he didn't know. Maybe the woman deceived him. You know the way sometimes a woman will be pregnant and give it to someone. They can choose who to give to. Women. Yeah.

[13:24] So those of you who are just everywhere. Some of you have been given seed that doesn't belong to you. You are not thinking about doing DNA tests.

[13:38] I bet you should. That's why it's good to marry a Christian sister. Who has really become Christian? Some are church goers, but not Christian sisters.

[13:51] Remember that. How do you know the difference between a Christian teacher, a Christian sister, and a church goer? You see it by their fruits. By their fruits. Sometimes they are very upset.

[14:03] And you say, but you know the scripture. I said, because of the Bible, that's okay. Because of God. You see, that's a Christian. Someone who is a Bible for what? My friend, put the Bible aside. Bible for what?

[14:15] And their plans, their ambitions are all a Holy Spirit. It's just... What is the Holy Spirit? Church is about fun and excitement. A club you have joined.

[14:26] Yeah. Those ones. They are church goers, but they are not Christian sisters. If you go for a Christian sister, it's up to you. Sorry. A church goer is up to you. But if you go for a Christian sister, I can tell you, I'm having real good time.

[14:40] Because I went for a Christian sister. Christian sisters understand forgiveness. No human being naturally likes submission.

[14:53] But a Christian sister will manage to do it. She has to because... Are you a Christian? She will have to. And she will do it not by coercion, but by obedience and because of her love for God.

[15:10] And the same with a Christian brother. Because once he stirred up... Once he stirred up... After a long time of sustained pressure...

[15:23] Like Delilah did to Samson. Bible said... She vexed him daily. Every day... The image was in front of him. Every day he was seeing images.

[15:34] Every day he was seeing images. One day he said... Let me take my hand and breathe. Oh, this image. So...

[15:46] A Christian... A sensible Christian brother will just remove himself from danger area. And will not be responsibly saying that. We are just friends. Excuse me. A male friend is not a female.

[15:57] Okay? Alright. Where was I? So Moses was born. And they fed him in Pharaoh's house. Bible said... At this time Moses was born.

[16:08] And was well pleasing to God. And he was brought up in his father's house for three months. Only three months. And what happened? But when he was set out...

[16:18] Pharaoh's daughter took him away... And brought him up as her own son. Can you imagine? She was feeding the lion. She was feeding the redeemer.

[16:29] Or the deliverer. Who her father was determined to wipe out. Because of that. He said... Wipe out all the boys. Satan was behind it. So God knows how to clear the way for you...

[16:40] To find your seats. Shout hallelujah. Hallelujah. Don't think that people have gone ahead of you... So there's no space. God will reserve a space for you. Your ticket will be reserved for...

[16:52] It may get into somebody's hand. But he knows how to... It will come to you... Like the way God preserved... Protected... Preserved... Preserved... Protected... And kept Sarah...

[17:03] Abraham's wife. When she ended up in Abimelech's house... As Abimelech's wife. God said... That's why I prevented... I kept you... Genesis I think 21...

[17:59] He's working for you. He does not have to come and announce to you. But your faith must believe that... God is working for me. So God is working for me. God is working for me.

[18:11] So... He says that it's not because you are many. I let people and give you their land. Deuteronomy chapter 7 from verse 1 again. When the Lord your God brings you into the land which you go to possess...

[18:23] And has cast out many nations before you. The Hittites. And the Girgashites. And the Amorites. And the Canaanites. And the Perizzites. And the Hivites. And the Jebusites. Seven nations greater and mightier than you.

[18:35] Greater and mightier. How can you take the land of people who are greater and mightier than you? But God said... I'm going to give you that land. Amen. The people are greater and not just that.

[18:49] They are mightier than you. Mightier. Than you. Yes, sir. So you can't take on a mighty nation when you are nowhere near their might.

[19:03] You can't take on a great nation when you are nowhere near their greatness. And yet he said... They are greater and mightier and yet me God. I'm going to drive them out and give you their land.

[19:19] And they didn't even have to fight. Why? Verse 2. And when the Lord your God delivers them over to you... You shall conquer them and utterly destroy them.

[19:31] You shall make no covenant with them nor show mercy to them. Nor shall you make marriages with them. Ah. Marriages. Marriages. Don't make marriages with them.

[19:43] You understand why? Why? Nor shall you make marriages with them. You shall not give your daughter to their son. Nor take their daughter for your son. Mm-hmm. For they will turn your sons away from following me to serve other gods.

[19:57] Yeah. The women are powerful. What did he say? That's our best statement. You cannot please God if your wife... You can't serve God.

[20:07] You can't serve God. It's not for God. If you are... You can't be for God if your wife is not for God. You can't be for God if your wife is not for God.

[20:19] Yeah. Yeah. So if you, young man, if you...

[20:31] If you really want to do ministry, do the work of God, then be intentional about who you are going for. that's the major factor besides the exterior appeal a man of God shouldn't choose based on exterior appeal you are lost for and you'll be lost in destiny because the more powerful you become the more complicated and complex ones will come and the more the curves will disturb you men have been designed to respond to curves hey, curves wow how many of you like the curves you can't lift your head the devil is a liar he's a curve hey some of you didn't hear what I said how many of you appreciate God for curves some of you can't lift your head it's usually the last few ones they have to pretend like they are fine we know you are not fine

[21:53] God is wonderful you are not fine wow wow anyway so it's necessary marriage you have to be careful who you are desiring to marry you shouldn't choose a person because you think now you are old you have to settle oh baby because you want to come to Great Britain oh sorry rather oh you are looking for papers a man of God like you you are looking for papers you should be looking for God the devil is a liar a woman of God like you you are looking for papers no don't marry for papers alright so don't marry them go ahead can you imagine

[23:06] I haven't even 2% of my scriptures haven't come go ahead verse 4 for they will turn your sons away from following me to serve other gods usually when people begin to fight their pastor the man who helped them who have raised them in Christ check their wives this is not disputable a man cannot make a decision spiritually in spite of his wife or so long as his spiritual state and who he submits to is concerned in spite of his wife ministry is a long tiring journey you have to keep running when you are tired you see still keep going if you marry a woman like Lord's wife your ministry will not go anywhere anywhere there are times Pastor Oh ask me when is the next time you are going to Ashbenham

[25:32] I always will talk about marriage yeah oh it's very important okay let's we have to do some writing yeah go ahead verse 4 for they will turn your sons away from following me to serve other gods so the anger of the Lord will be aroused against you and destroy you suddenly but thus you shall deal with them you shall destroy their altars and break down their sacred pillars and cut down their wooden images and burn their carved images with fire for you are a holy people to the Lord your God for what you are a holy people to the Lord your God it says that for you are a holy people to the Lord your God let's not really out loud let's go for you are a holy people to the Lord your God the Lord your God has chosen you to be a special treasure above all the people of the earth alright so God himself has chosen you you are a holy people holy means that you are like separated you have been set apart you know how there are some things that are set apart it's not for everybody maybe even in your house when you are expecting some guests and your some for these seniors also coming you can prepare everything for everything for the guests but this one is a no set this apart and in every family there must be something that has been set apart and in every house especially young family everybody's life there will always be somebody that must be set apart for you or you must be set apart for everybody that's why if you are not married please don't the way our generation defines enjoyment you are spending your life with or you are spending something that should be set apart for somebody special spending it for the public it has become a public commodity some of the brothers here i remember phase two one day i was teaching i said you you are a gentleman you humble yourself because as you sit here maybe possibly ten of the girls here have played with you you're you're you can't be exposing yourself every but about ten people have already played with you so they have seen you and you think you are very posh you are not so some of you unfortunately two people too many people have seen you in your adulthood too many people too many people they have seen you too much they have played with you like chess chess chess somebody said playstation he said thank god you are in church yes we are trying to recover just the bit that is left and manage it but you know that there's not much left you should know that already there's not too many people have been through you like people traveling to East London from South London go through the tunnel or something like that too many it's free the tunnel is free therefore crossing you pay but the tunnel is free hey hey so help just let us help you but you are supposed to be there is a certain aspect of your life that by design is meant to be

[29:32] separate set apart for somebody yeah set apart for somebody he said for you are a peculiar treasure to me did you know me chapter yeah did you know me chapter 7 verse 6 for you are holy people to the lord your god the lord your god has chosen you to be a people for himself a special treasure so a special treasure this one is a special treasure and you are a people for himself so it's not everyone who is supposed to touch you everyone is to come near you you are like a reserved seat god looked in and he said these people are mine this one i've chosen you for myself and when you read through other scriptures this is god since adam god has always been a god who chooses people for himself who chooses people for himself when i saw the eye god is a god who always chooses people for himself yeah so let me show you a few scriptures special say special treasure say special treasure we will come back to the special treasure but i think we should read through let me just show you a few things read through verse 7 deuteronomy 7 7 the lord did not set his love on you nor choose you the lord did not do what he did what he did not do what so he set his love on them they were minding their own business and he said these guys i like this one so he set his love on them that's where it starts from god set his love on them the lord did not set his love on you nor chose you because you were more in number than the other people for you were least of all people so he's not choosing because of your education don't come to church and bully us because with your education bully us with the kind of car you drive bully us with the school you attended bully us with your certificate bully us with your hairstyle bully us with your skin texture bully us with bully us with whatever whatever you have got bully us with stop that stop that with your louis vuitton bag stop that let the ushers carry it and put it where they have to put it i hear there somebody i heard there somebody who was very upset because said don't don't touch my bag wow people are falling on the floor he said my bag cannot touch on the floor yeah i think ashes somebody said to me oh no ashes one reason i just said it somebody a particular bag you can't touch it but that's that's petty so it doesn't matter it's up to him it's a bag but what i'm trying to say is that don't you are not in church because of your how special you are in yourself bishop dag said something pastor was telling me he said sometimes when you see you can't see a beautiful woman the woman is so beautiful and when she's asleep you will be shocked the way this woman can't snore you won't believe that a beautiful woman can snore like this such a pretty girl snores like this very interesting so he says it's it's not because of all that all that all that verse seven joshua verse eight let's go verse eight but because the lord loves you and because he would keep the oath which he swore why did he choose you why did he choose so he chose you not because of your number or

[33:32] something special about you but because he set his love on you remember so first of all God sets his love on you and then starts the choosing program starts the love affair because you didn't set your love first he set his love on you not because of something special you have but because of his personal interest and personal purpose but because the Lord set his love but because the Lord loves you and because he would keep the oath which he swore to your fathers the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of bondage from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt therefore know that the Lord your God he is God the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand therefore know that the Lord your God he is God the faithful

[34:33] God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love him that's very important you remember why is he to sin us because he loves us but he says that he is faithful and keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love him and keep his command very interesting so he also demands love from us for us for him to act in a certain way he sets his love on us he chooses us not because of something special but just because of his affection for us and after he chooses us what he will do for us to enjoy the long term is a function of how we love him that's where this whole thing is going continue reading it please verse 10 and he repays those who hate him to their face to destroy them he will not be slack with him who hates him he will repay him to his face therefore you shall keep the commandments the statutes and the judgments which

[35:40] I command you today to observe them then it shall come to pass because you listen to these judgments and keep and do them that the lord your god will keep with you the covenant and the mercy which he swore to your fathers and he will love you and bless you and multiply you he will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land your grain and your new wine and your oil the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flock in the land of which he swore to your fathers to give you you shall be blessed above all peoples there shall not be a male or female barren among you say amen god means it but it's all function of loving him and keeping his commandment loving him and keeping his commandment he didn't talk about how a pastor will pray for you he spoke about loving him and keeping his commandment you know very interesting in the first place he chooses us and

[36:46] I said earlier on that god has always been in the business of choosing the people so let's write this text scriptures down quickly in the book of Deuteronomy chapter 14 verse 2 Deuteronomy chapter 14 verse 2 for you are a holy people to the Lord your God and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for himself see how he comes and chooses he's always interested in that okay chooses you to be a people for himself Deuteronomy chapter 26 verse 18 verse 18 verse 18 also he promised you that you should keep all his commandments in Psalm 1 3 5 verse 4 1 3 5 verse 4 and then from there we go to Titus chapter 2 verse 14 1

[37:50] Peter chapter 2 verse 9 this is all about God choosing people to be his peculiar treasure go ahead Psalm 135 verse 4 for the Lord has chosen Jacob for himself Israel for his special treasure for his what for his what remember that you see what I'm trying to draw your attention to is that if you if you understand this and start to live your life in accordance to that you will not be an object of pity amongst men because God has set his love mom it's nice to see you God has set his love on you so he will not allow anything at all to happen to you anything that will happen to you must come through him it must be with his permission we are Titus chapter 2 verse 14 who gave himself for us talking about Jesus Christ he gave himself for us that he might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for himself his own special people did you see that so he redeemed us to purify for who for a pastor for your friends for the church for himself he called us he died for us he redeemed us so that he redeemed us from lawless deeds and purify for himself us for himself so he has chosen us for himself say I am chosen for the Lord

[39:23] I am God's special chosen one God's attention God's eye on you that is why everything in fact Jesus said that even the hair on your head are numbered he didn't say they are counted they are numbered it's different from counted hair number 352 has just fallen off hair number five is getting weaker and weaker we need some shampoo instead the hairs on your head are numbered the way all the street lights in London in England in England in London you will never know but when you are traveling watch they all have past numbers every item on the street the street lights they are all numbered the same way God said that you to you you not the land you your hair even your hair the strands are numbered that's how much he cares about you he said before you were formed in your mother's whom he knew you wow yeah but the very hairs of your head are all numbered hair number 522 that's how tell somebody

[40:43] I'm so special to God first Peter chapter 2 verse 9 but you are a chosen generation what are you what are you you are not by accident he came to choose you in fact it's called election that means you know no one becomes a prime minister by accident he was there and he said okay you just be a prime minister no you must be elected if you are not elected then the one who was elected you were working with him so your party was elected and they put you there but even the party they must elect you you can't just wake up and say okay I feel like today I'm going to be you must be elected and you can never go to parliament if you haven't been elected to go and represent who the people must elect you that's important and God he also has been doing elections but this is the elections without campaign electing people before they even realize they have been elected and you think you think it's electing you into politics or electing you into business to make money no no no that's not what the divine election is about the divine election is about electing you to be a member of the church amongst his people special treasure he has so that is why you don't have to

[91:29] he is happy that the bride has gone to the groom and he says that today read it from verse 25 he who has the bride is the bridegroom ah what's that you're talking about jesus now he said he was the bride the bridegroom who is the bride and who is the groom and he says that but a friend of the bridegroom who stands and hears him rejoices greatly because of the groom's voice therefore this joy is mine i'm rejoicing because i've now seen the bride going to the groom so jesus came as a groom the lamb of god i came to introduce he's somebody who came to find his wife and so when we go to revelation he said come i will show you the lamb the wife of the bride of the lamb the lamb's wife revelation 21 verse 10 again 9 then one of the the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me saying come i will show you the bride the lamb's wife the lamb john spoke about his wife the lamb's wife then he took me and showed me a city adorned that's why the choir i taught this to the choir i can't go further he showed me the city the city was adorned and he said the city do you know how the city looked it looked like jasper that's where jasperization comes from because god himself bible said he's like jasper i saw one on the throne revelations chapter 4 verse 3 or so i saw one on the throne and it looks like jasper suddenly the heavenly jesus is coming it looks like jasper built with precious stones that one i think next week i'll go on the building blocks of the new jesus but let me just finish this with the marriage thing let me give you the scriptures write the scriptures down isaiah chapter 54 verse 5 read it isaiah chapter 62 verse 5 54 verse 5 read it isaiah 54 5 for your maker is your husband hey the lord of hosts is his name wow and your redeemer is the holy one of israel wow 62 verse 5 your maker is your husband 62 5 for as a young man marries a virgin so shall your sons marry you and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride so shall your god rejoice over you wow there are other scriptures i've quoted them already so let's go to this last scripture which is very powerful concerning the church second corinthians chapter 11 verse 2 look at this this is this i think we should all read it together let's read it let's go how about that how about that did you get that paul said you are already engaged though church body of christ we're already engaged those of you who love worldliness you are engaged and you are going for another man that's how serious god takes it i'm just enjoying my life you are engaged you can't go and have fun somewhere else with somebody else he said i am i am jealous for you with a godly jealousy for i have betrothed you to one husband that i may present you as a chaste virgin to christ what does verse 1 say what does verse 1 say oh that you bear with me in this form okay and it goes on and it talks about how you have to be careful chapter 2 chapter 7 talks about how let's ask satan this beguiled eve
