As Christians, it is critical to understand our identity in Christ. In this series, Dr. David Antwi outlines what it really means to be a Christian and also highlights an important responsibility; the call to grow in Christ. We are certain you will be truly blessed as you listen and share.
[0:00] Welcome. Thank you for choosing to listen to another word-filled message by David Entry. Preaching is the means by which God manifests His word and nourishes our spirits. May the life of God enter into you and you as you listen to this message. Be blessed.
[0:17] Last week I started talking about who we are in Christ. Who we are in Christ and I focus more on spiritual growth and spiritual development. And I spoke about how in the things of the spirit there is the need for people to grow.
[0:31] So you become a Christian, you become born again and it's an entry point. And there is the need for you to move from one stage to the other, growing.
[0:43] It doesn't take human intellect to understand spiritual things. It takes spirituality from the heart to understand spiritual things. You can't know everything about God.
[0:56] The very time you say you know everything about God, it seems to be God. Because God is incomprehensible. He is not utterly unknowable.
[1:08] You can know Him. But you can know Him comprehensively, exhaustively. But God desires to reveal Himself to us. Progressively. Systematically. So when you become a Christian, Bible says in John chapter 3 verse 3, that unless a man is born again, he cannot see.
[1:25] So it's not in the nature of an ordinary man who is not born again. What does it mean to be born again? Jesus has taken over your life. You have given your life to Jesus and your spirit man can't survive.
[1:38] Your spirit man can't survive. And all of a sudden you realize, wow, I didn't know I was lost. You see, if you don't have Jesus, you're actually lost. So when you become born again, then you begin to realize the world of possibilities that you have been born into.
[1:55] Then you begin to appreciate the spiritual insights of God's word. Now then you begin to eat God's word like food. Like milk.
[2:05] And I said last week that you start like a baby. So you begin to take the milk of God's word. Even though you can be a professor, once you become born again, you need the milk of God's word.
[2:16] Because your system, spiritual systems cannot take the meat of God's word. Jesus said, unless a man is born again, he cannot. John 3.3 He cannot see the kingdom of God.
[2:29] He cannot see the kingdom of God. One of the things I've discovered is everyone needs help. Listen to this. There are certain things that you, certain situations in life that will require God.
[2:42] You've tried all you can. You've done everything. My brother, don't allow yourself to keep sinking. Reach out for help. Because God is interested in helping you.
[2:53] I said God is interested in helping you. God is interested in helping you. Because you need God. I don't believe in God. I don't believe in God. It doesn't matter. Don't worry. You still need God.
[3:04] Those who are telling you, don't worry. They need God. So when you become born again, spiritual maturity is not based on how long you've been in church. Spiritual maturity is not based on how many times you've been to church.
[3:16] Spiritual maturity has everything to do with progressive recognition of self. Your identity in Christ. Who are you? The problem is that sometimes people are even in church and they don't know who they are.
[3:29] They don't know who they are. Sometimes the devil comes to you with sickness, suggests that you're about to die like the way your uncle died, the way your auntie died, the way your mom died. Ow! Then you begin to lament your demise, your death.
[3:43] Because you don't know who you are. If you lack confidence and identity, you can't even go anywhere. People despise you because they don't know what you've got. God has given me the assignment of drawing your attention to raise you to know what you have got.
[3:57] See, once you know what you have got, listen, listen. Once you know what you have got, you can help the others around you. Actually, they need you to help them. They need you.
[4:07] They need you. People need you. Because you are a carrier of God. You are a carrier of God. Identity matters. And you have to know who you have become in Christ.
[4:18] So who are we in Christ? This is a long list. Let me just give you one of you. Who are we in Christ? Ah, I like this. Who are we? Romans 8, 16. Thank you, Jesus.
[4:29] Is it okay if we're all ready together? Out loud? Are you ready? All right, let's all read it out loud. Let's go. The Spirit himself bears with us in our spirits, that we are children of all of us.
[4:40] Can I have just the ladies reading? Ladies, let's go. The Spirit himself bears with us in our spirits, that we are children of all of us. Can I have the men, please? The Spirit himself bears with us in our spirits, that we are children of all of us.
[4:55] You see the Spirit and the Himself? Yes. Capitalized. Talking about the Holy Spirit. God Spirit. God Himself. He bears witness with what?
[5:06] Our Spirit. Our Spirit. Not our minds. This whole thing is spiritual. It bears witness with your spirit, that what? We are children of God. Now watch this. If you are a child of God, John 1, 12.
[5:18] As many as believed in Him, He gave them, but as many as received Him, to them He gave the rights to become children of God. To those who believe in, to those who believe in King James, I think the King James says that He gave them the power.
[5:33] He gave them the power. It's easy to become. Power to be saved, to become. To become. He gave you power to become. So when you are in Christ, you know what you have become? First of all, you are the child of God.
[5:45] Think about it. Those of us who have children, sometimes you are so tired. You are so tired, you'll be sleeping, and then you hear your child scream. The spirit with which you will jump out of your bed like Superman.
[5:57] Yeah. What is it? They touch your child, they touch your eyes. Now, so Bible says that those of us who believed and received Jesus, watch this.
[6:08] Not everybody. People say, oh, we are all children of God. I'm sorry. I am sorry. We are not. Why? What makes a person a child? The DNA. You can't know my children, Bible, the DNA they carry.
[6:23] DNA. Now, so how do you become a child of God? Bible says that God sends his spirit into your spirit. As soon as you become a genuine Christian, not a nominal Christian. The difference between a genuine Christian and a nominal Christian is a nominal Christian is a Christian by filling the paper, you know, just by tag.
[6:42] Bible says that the time is coming and now is when the true worshippers shall worship him in spirit and in truth. All right. And so, when you become born again and your spirit man is alive, you actually become the child of God.
[6:54] You carry, Bible talks about 2 Peter chapter 1 verse 3. 2 Peter chapter 1 verse 3 says that by which he has given us this exceeding great and precious promises that by then we shall be partakers of the nature of God.
[7:08] Did you see that? That we can be partakers of his nature. According to us, his divine power has given us, given unto all things that pertain to life and godliness. That itself is super. Wow. Okay. According, his divine power has given unto us all things that pertain to life and godliness.
[7:24] So, you are not without help when you are in God. You are not without help. Say, his divine power has given unto us all things that pertain to life and godliness.
[7:38] See, but if you don't know this, you'll be struggling. I am here to introduce to you what is your entitlement. You must know your entitlement. Other than that, you'll be bullied.
[7:49] Life is not fair. Life is not fair. Life is not fair. But listen, he says, life is not fair. That's why you need God.
[8:02] You need God. Because God can fight for you. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.
[8:17] God told his people, he said, leave the battle for me. I am the God of all flesh. There is nothing too hard for me. I can fight for you. And I've seen God do it over and over and over and over and over.
[8:31] But if you know who you are, if you know who you are, somebody decides to walk out of your life, you look and say, it's your loss. It's your loss.
[8:48] It's your loss. Give them identity. Give them strength. Inner strength. You see, you can't be a hero without sacrifice. We don't really have heroes again. And our land is gradually, the fabric or the quality of the people in the land is being eroded gently.
[9:08] Gently. Gently. So that's why some of us must rise up and pay some hard price. Nothing of value comes without an effort. Pay some price.
[9:19] Identity. Identity. Somebody say identity. Identity. In the same way we have been born. I like the way Bishop or Yodepo Pusset Pastor. He said, we were not born again to suffer again.
[9:36] You're not born again to suffer. You have to have this resolve in yourself. That Paul said, I know in whom I have believed.
[9:47] I know in whom I believe. It doesn't matter what the media say about my God. I know whom I believe. Media. How can media make me stop going to church? Media.
[10:00] Media. Do you understand what I'm saying? And that's what the devil is using to control people's minds. Push and pump all kinds of negativity. And so you sometimes prejudge before you even meet them.
[10:14] You don't even know them. I see you breaking through. I said, I see you breaking through. I see you breaking through. Anything that is trying to hijack your destiny.
[10:27] I curse that thing. Anything hijacking your destiny. Hijacking your peace. Hijacking your blessing. Hijacking your breakthrough. I bring it under divine curse. In the name of Jesus. And I speak over your life.
[10:38] Be free to break through. Be free to progress. Be free to expand. In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus.
[10:50] Power of the Holy Ghost. Enough is enough. The devil has bullied people too long. We must put a stop to that.
[11:01] We must draw a line for him. We must let him know that devil, you can close this line. Because Jesus has set me free. Set him free.
[11:11] I'm free. Set him free. I'm free. Set him free. I'm free. Amen. Amen. Hallelujah.
[11:23] Amen. I love Jesus. Yes. Because God is so good. Thank you for listening to this message by David Entry. To hear more from David Entry, follow him on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.
