[0:12] Be blessed. What makes the Christian prayer distinctive is the fact that we pray to a father.
[0:27] No religion, no organization prays to a father. Apart from Christians who pray to a father.
[0:39] We pray to a father. Jesus said when you pray say, Wona father, Wona papa. And faith, we pray in faith.
[0:52] And three, the Jesus factor in our prayer. What about Jesus in our prayer that makes it distinct?
[1:06] The teachings of Jesus, the examples of Jesus, the blood of Jesus, the intercession of Jesus, and the name of Jesus. I told you the other time that Jesus was always teaching his disciples for all the three years he was working with them.
[1:22] He kept teaching his disciples. He kept teaching his disciples. And in the book of Luke chapter 11 and Matthew chapter 6. Matthew chapter 6 from verse 5. He actually told them about prayer.
[1:33] And in verse 9, he taught them. He said, So he taught them to pray.
[1:43] And then in Luke chapter 11 verse 1. He was praying. He came to pass. He was praying at a certain place. And when he had finished praying, his disciples came to him and said to him that, Master, teach us to pray.
[1:56] And he said to them, When you pray. So he actually taught them to pray. In Luke chapter 18 verse 1. Bible said, He said a whole parable to this end. That men always ought to pray and not to faint.
[2:09] And he told them about how in a certain city, There was an unrighteous judge who does not fear man nor God. And there was a widow who wanted the judge to defend her.
[2:20] The widow kept going and then kept going and just said, I won't do anything. But the widow brought the judge persistently. And the judge said, If I don't do anything for this woman, She will worry at me by her continual coming.
[2:30] Why are you coming once and stop? There is a continual coming that makes heaven act. That's why it's good these days. You don't miss one of the prayer meetings.
[2:43] It's a continual coming. Else she weary at me by her continual coming. Can you imagine what a wicked person, Someone who doesn't care, Is mean.
[2:55] Even a mean person can stand continual coming. And he says that, Shall not your heavenly father God, Shall not he also avenge his own elects?
[3:09] And shall not God avenge his own elects, Which cry day and night unto him, Though he bears long with them. Meaning that he hasn't answered, But you are still crying.
[3:19] He said, I tell you, He shall avenge them speedily. Somebody's about to receive speedily intervention. He said, I tell you that he will avenge them speedily.
[3:36] Speedily. In other words, With haste. For a long time, He hasn't made, God doesn't seem to be doing anything about it. Until you kept persistently pushing, Pushing God, God, He said, God, Do it speedily.
[3:50] And then after that, He told them another, Another story about two people went to the temple to go and pray. One Pharisee and one publican. The Pharisee was praying, And not depending on mercy. But the publican said, I don't deserve whatever you do, Just have mercy on me.
[4:04] He said, Have mercy, In fact, He put it this way in Kenya, He said, Be merciful to me as sinner. Jesus said, I tell you the truth, That man went home justified.
[4:16] Prayer. This is all prayer environment. He taught them prayer. Different aspects of prayer. So the teaching of prayer was not, On prayer by Jesus, Was not concentrated in only one place. It was dotted in different places.
[4:28] He taught them different. So if you want to learn about the teachings of prayer, It's not only from one place. It's so long as Jesus is concerned. Jesus' teachings are concerned. You have to go to other places in the scripture. He taught. But then, The last 15 hours, Or the last 24 hours of his life, The night before he was betrayed, Or the night he went to die, That night, It's captured in, John chapter 13, 14, 15, And 16.
[4:56] Particularly, What happened, Something strange happened, In John chapter 14, And in John chapter 15, And in John chapter 16, These three chapters, He taught things that he has never taught, All the three years he was working with them.
[5:10] He taught things that he has never taught. He spoke to them about the coming of the comforter. So when I go, The comforter will come. He taught them deep things, And then when he finished, He went to pray.
[5:22] A whole chapter 17 of John, Was about the prayer of Jesus. The whole chapter was about Jesus praying, And telling us about the content of his prayer. So, That means that if you want to learn about prayer, We have to also visit John chapter 17.
[5:34] But before John chapter 17, John chapter 14, Verse 13, And verse 14, John chapter 15, Verse 16, John chapter 16, Verse 23, John chapter 16, Verse 24, John chapter 16, Verse 26, He said something about prayer, Which all the three years he taught their prayer, He never said, Until just before he died.
[5:55] And when you look at John chapter 14, Verse 13, Let's read it out together, From the screen. Let's go. That I will do. And the father, That I will do.
[6:07] That, Verse 14, Let's go. If he shall ask him, And the name I will do. Check the scriptures, All throughout his teaching, He never mentioned anything, In his name, Asking the father in his name.
[6:23] Until just when he was about to leave. He said, Guys, I'm about to leave. Let me release the biggest revelation about prayer. The biggest revelation about prayer. He said, When you ask in my name.
[6:35] He mentioned that six times. This is one. 13 is one. 14 is two. 15, Verse 16 is three. Look at 15, Verse 16. Ye have not chosen me, But I have chosen you, And ordained you, That you should go, And bring forth fruit, And that your fruit should remain.
[6:51] That whatsoever, You shall ask the father. He brought it again. Third time, Say the name. And in chapter 16, Verse 23, He brought the name again.
[7:04] Verse 24, He brought the name, Verse 23. Verse 23 said, And in that day, Ye shall ask me nothing. Verily I say, Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever, Say whatsoever.
[7:16] Whatsoever. That's half man include whatsoever. That's wife include whatsoever. That's a good job includes whatsoever. That's a miracle baby include a good. That's financial breakthrough includes what.
[7:28] That's freedom includes whatsoever. Whatever is whatsoever. And he said, Whatsoever you shall ask the father, In my name. On all the Jesus.
[7:43] Whatsoever you shall ask the father, In my name. In my name. He, the father, Will give it to you. That's a strong thing.
[7:56] When we talk about his name, We are talking about his signature. Say the name. The name. In John chapter 16 again, Verse 24.
[8:08] Have we read verse 24? 24 says that, Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name. Why haven't you received it? You haven't asked it in my name. So, our prayers are in his name.
[8:24] So, that's why I told you that it's rubbish for someone to say, This we are praying in the name of God. We don't pray. We pray in the name of Jesus. Jesus. Christians prayer is in the name of Jesus Christ.
[8:38] It's not in the name of God. Do you see the distinction? Because when you say God, Which God are you talking about? Because, Others believe that Allah is also God.
[8:49] And there are other gods. But thank God, There is power In the name of Jesus. Can you imagine how miserable humanity will be Without the name of Jesus?
[9:03] With all these devils And these witches. Someone say, Thank you Jesus. You always have to be thankful to God for the blood of Jesus. Be thankful to God for the name of Jesus.
[9:14] And be thankful to God for the church of Jesus. Because there can be the blood, There can be the name, But if you don't find yourself in a church, That can appropriately apply it.
[9:27] If you don't find yourself in an atmosphere like this, What you going to do? You become like a cheap meat for the devil.
[9:40] But, You know what I like about this thing? This thing, I'm getting deeper into it and understanding it better. About how you come to God, And sometimes you know you deserve punishment.
[9:56] But you ask for mercy. And he suspends any legal charge against you. Because you have appealed to mercy. In other words, It doesn't matter what you are going through.
[10:11] It doesn't matter the legitimacy of it. If we can, In this atmosphere, Call genuinely on the name of God, God will do something. By his mercies.
[10:22] Whilst people are judging how you deserve it, God doesn't care whether he deserves it or not. When you come into God's presence, And under a certain atmosphere, And you begin to genuinely connect, Do anything, Pray by faith, Don't get this, And confess you, And cry, He said, Shall God not avenge?
[10:45] Because when you ask him for mercy, His hands are tied. When you ask God for mercy, His hands are tied. He can't say no. Because he's full of mercy.
[10:57] That's why the publican, The tax collector goes to the temple. He was so bad, Bible said, He couldn't even lift up his head.
[11:09] Can you imagine? He was so bad, He couldn't lift up his head. So like I'm preaching, He can't look at me. And he didn't come to the front, He was at the back. He couldn't lift up. And he kept beating his chest, His breast.
[11:22] His breast. So someone beating his chest. Tax collectors are rich. We're rich. Prominent, Very important people. Come to church and beating his chest.
[11:33] That shows humility. And his prayer was not, God, I've been good. He said, God, I've been bad. He couldn't look at God. God, I've been bad.
[11:44] God, I've been bad. I'm sure the wife was sick. I'm sure one of the children Had come under epileptic attack. Because someone cursed them.
[11:57] Because he was a bad man. See, when you are bad, Things can come after you. Yeah. Yeah. Can I finish the teaching so that we can close?
[12:08] The name of Jesus. So when you submit, when you pray, Jesus said that when you pray, have we read chapter 16, verse 26? We only read 24.
[12:20] Okay. Let's look at 26. Says that at that time, ye shall ask in my name. And I shall, and I, and I say unto you that I will pray the Father for you.
[12:37] You shall ask where? In my name. Within a few hours, he started dropping that name. Name. Six times. Just before he went. Anyway, he stood them on prayer on several occasions.
[12:50] Never brought this up. God, that was the master killer. The master key that changes the power of the prayer.
[13:01] In my name. That's why the apostle said his name through faith in his name. Acts chapter 3, verse 16. Through faith in his name has made this one here well.
[13:13] If you are asking that by what name this good thing has been done to this man, let it be known to you and all Israel that is by the name of Jesus.
[13:27] Then you know what he said? He said, look at verse 11. Acts 4. This is the stone that the builders of Jesus. No, it goes to verse 10 first.
[13:38] It said, that by the name of Jesus whom you crucified by God raised. even by him does this man stand here before you. Verse 12. Neither is there salvation in any other for there is no other name.
[13:57] No other name. There is none other name under heaven given among whereby we must be saved. When you activate that name, you have activated salvation. Wow. Salvation in spite of whatever condition you are in, you've activated salvation.
[14:14] So Jesus said, if you ask anything in my name, I will do it. The father will do it in my name. In my name. So Christian prayer is not complete unless it is made in the name of Jesus.
[14:30] In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. In French, we say, honor honor Jesus. Honor de Jesus.
[14:41] In the name of Jesus. The prayer must be made in the name. So when you make prayer in the name of Jesus, what it is, is, it's like you have given him a petition for him to sign.
[15:00] So the fact that you said the name of Jesus doesn't mean he will do it. yeah, why? Because it's not everything he can sign.
[15:13] Even him, himself, one day he prayed, and his humanity pushed him to pray something that is not in line with God's will. When he prayed it, he thought, no, no, I can't sign this.
[15:26] He himself couldn't sign it, so he changed it. He said, if it is possible, let this camp come pass. But he said, no, I can't sign this one. So he rejoiced and said, nevertheless, let your will be that day, sign that one.
[15:42] Matthew 26. So then, if you want him to sign it, then it must be according to the will of the father. So, in 1 John chapter 5, verse 14, it says, and this is the confidence that we have in him, that when we pray according to his will, what happens?
[16:03] he hears us. It's the will of God in our prayer that gives its heavens recognition. Then Jesus can say, I will sign it when you ask me to sign it.
[16:15] When you say the name of Jesus and it's the will of God, he will sign it. So when he said, whatsoever you ask him my name, don't let us be deceived to think that he will sign whatsoever. So you are praying for somebody's husband to be your husband.
[16:30] He said, Jesus, can you sign it? He said, oh no, sorry, mate. Sorry, mate. I can't sign this one. But in conclusion, what makes our prayer potent and unique is the name of Jesus.
[16:47] Don't pray without applying the name. And when you pray in the name of Jesus, you have to have confidence that the name works. The name works. The name works.
[16:58] They said, suffering God have I none, but such as I have given you in the name of Jesus. Right up. And they lifted him and nothing worked.
[17:11] The prayers you are making to God in the name of Jesus, I see them working. I see them working in Jesus name. Did you receive something?
