[0:00] Hallelujah. We thank God you've tuned into this message by David Entry at Caris Church. No hand can help you with the fulfillment of your destiny, but the Word of God. May God's hand align you further into your destiny through this Word.
[0:18] Jesus said, John 16, 7, 6 and 7, Because I told you I'm going, it's all that has filled your heart, but it is to your advantage that I go. Why? Because, if I do not go, for means because, the comforter.
[0:41] Paracletus. That's the Greek word for comforter. When you read other translations, it will translate it. I probably, NIV and King James will tell you, helper.
[0:55] The helper. The helper. Or the advocate. Some translations say, standby. So, it says, the helper will not come.
[1:07] New, NIV, and then amplified. Do you have NIV? The helper. So, you don't have NIV. Any other translation?
[1:19] What does it say? You're the helper. Any other translation? NIV, what does it say? Advocate. Any other translation? So, anyway, it says that, unless I go there, counselor.
[1:35] NIV is counselor. Counselor. Amplifies comforter. Advocator.
[1:46] Intercessor. Counselor. Counselor. Strengthener. Strengthener. Standby. Standby. Standby. Now, when your phone is on standby, as soon as you touch it, it wakes up.
[2:01] You might think it's not there. But it's on standby. Waiting for someone to touch it and wake up. Sleep mode. No, Holy Spirit is not in sleep mode. So, the Bible says that, if I do not go, the standby, the advocate, the helper, the counselor, the counselor, intercessor, strengthener.
[2:30] I like that one. Let's all say strengthener. Strengthener. So, he's the helper. He's the strengthener. King James says the counselor. Sorry, the comforter. So, strengthener, helper.
[2:42] What does a helper help you to do? You are trying to do something, but your strength cannot take it. Then, helper comes to help you do it. By the time you realize you've done it. Wow.
[2:53] Originally, you couldn't do it. Why? There was a helper on standby. Wow. It comes in to help you do what you are doing or what you are supposed to do. That's a helper.
[3:05] And the, what, what did I say again? Comforter. Strengthener. When you go to the gym or something and you are lifting weight, and they say you do 10, and you do 1, 2, 3, 8 and half.
[3:19] And then now the weight is coming back on your neck. The, the, what? Sporter.
[3:31] What? Oh, it's Sporter. Okay. You can tell I don't go to the gym. Sporter will come and just help you.
[3:44] That's what the strengthener does or helper does. The Holy Spirit will. But I like that word, strengthener. He strengthens you.
[3:55] It's like he empowers you. So you go in a certain strength that is not intrinsic. That is not from inside.
[4:08] It's extra nose. Strength that is from outside, but it's operating like it's always resident. The Holy Spirit is extra strength.
[4:18] Now, the word comforter. Those of you who have been listening to the message you have preached in the past, you'll know this. It comes from the Latin word, two words. Com and then forte.
[4:32] Forte means strength. Forte. When someone says, that's not my forte. That's my area of strength. That's where you get the word fortress.
[4:42] Fortress is a strong building for protection. Forte. Forte. When they say, fortify yourself. They feel strengthened. Fortify. Or fortitude. Or fort.
[4:54] Forte is like a military base. You can't go there. There is a fort. It's well guarded. So all this has to do is strength. So forte. Piano forte. Forte is strength.
[5:05] And how about com? Com is with. Chili. Com. Canine. The Latin word for com, that's why we got confused.
[5:20] So most of the words that start with com, conform. It's with form. A lot of words that have com has to do with, you know.
[5:31] Com. It's like, it's almost like cool. Yeah. Com. So when it says that com and then fort, it's like when the Holy Spirit comes with strength.
[5:45] That's why it says that our helper. Our strengthener. So he comes with strength. Comforter.
[5:56] Someone who is coming with strength. Now, having said that, I've talked on this before. Comfort. The original Greek, English word, comfort, is not about, does everyone understand?
[6:10] Oh, don't worry. I don't worry. It's soothing. No, no, no, no. That's not what the original English word comfort, that's not original what it means. Comfort means that, you know, when, sometimes boxing, and the guy, when he finishes, then the manager, I want someone like to come.
[6:34] And then they sit down. So they beat him a few times. And then they give him water. When he can, you know, they pour the water. And then the bell goes.
[6:45] He can tell. He doesn't want to go. Come on. Go. And they push him. Go. That's what comforter does.
[6:56] The comforter, he go. Come on. He empowers you to. He can go. You can do. Yes. You can deal with this guy. God never puts you in a battle you will lose.
[7:07] Anytime he allows you to be in a battle, it means that he has equipped you to win. So the comforter comes and makes you something that, you know, there's something called Southern Comfort.
[7:23] How many of you know Southern Comfort? Yeah. Sorry? You have it with lemonade. It's alcohol.
[7:33] Very strong alcohol. You've not remembered. You used to drink a lot. Southern Comfort. Southern Comfort is an American brand of whiskey.
[7:47] Very powerful. Whiskey. So, Southern. Why do you call it whiskey comfort? You know, sometimes you want to do something. You want to talk to the girl about something.
[7:58] You go and get some comforter. You go and get some comforter. You say, girl. My father is Bill Gates. You are not yourself.
[8:11] You have a comforter with you. You've got to get some comfort. So the purpose of a comfort is to make you have strength that you originally wouldn't even think you have.
[8:24] And these days of prayer, don't do it in your strength. Don't do it in your strength. Listen, don't do it in your strength. You need the help of the Holy Spirit.
[8:36] You need a comforter. We have 21 days to be praying every day. How on earth can you do that? How many of you, when we were starting the fasting, you were wondering, oh my God.
[8:47] Oh my God. How can I go through this? Until the comforter kicks in. The comforter kicks in and you don't want to stop.
[9:01] How many of you knew that this evangelism is not something you can do? And then you did one. And suddenly you feel like the comforter has kicked in.
[9:12] When God gives you an assignment, you can't do it by yourself. You need heavenly, not sudden comfort. Heaven comfort.
[9:22] Heaven comfort. A comforter to come to empower you, to push you. If you don't depend on the Holy Ghost, you won't be able to be coming to pray every day.
[9:38] You won't come. You won't come. You use fuel as an excuse. Meanwhile, you don't drive too. You'll be complaining about diesel prices.
[10:00] Meanwhile, you have an electric car. You'll be charging it for two days. Are people catching anything at all?
[10:17] I see God visiting you. I see God changing your story. So, when we talk about a comforter, please.
[10:29] You see, I keep going. I keep going. No. It's not just natural strength. I'm on comfort. I'm on comfort. I'm on comfort.
[10:41] The comforter is such an amazing helper. So, you don't want to be upset with your brother, with your choir leader, with your departmental.
[10:54] You don't want to be. Because you need to ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen me. You feel so attracted and so tempted by a certain situation. Ask the Holy Spirit to comfort.
[11:05] Help me through this. That I won't cave in. Somebody said something about you and someone came to tell you. It broke your heart. And you feel like this thing, I will never.
[11:16] This. And now it's beginning to battle with your focus. It's easy. Natural people cannot get over it. But you, with the comforter, it's not a problem. You can't get over it.
[11:28] Learn how to depend on him and call the Holy Spirit. Help me. If you go in your strength, you are on your own. But if you call him for backup. If you call him for assistance.
[11:40] You are not on your own. I see somebody receiving grace. Amen. Keep Jesus' praise and take your seats, please. Thank you for listening to this message by David Entry.
