[0:00] Thank you for tuning into this message preached at Karis Church. The word of God is to be lived. May you receive direction from this message that will be a lamp to your feet.
[0:13] Acts chapter 3, it says, And as the layman which was healed, held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch. That is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.
[0:25] And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? Or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we have made this man walk?
[0:41] Then he starts to preach. The God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus, whom ye delivered up and denied him in the presence of Pilate when he was determined to let him go.
[1:00] But ye denied the Holy One and the Just One, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you, and killed the Prince of Life, whom ye have raised from the dead, whereof ye are witnesses.
[1:13] And his name, through faith in his name, has made this man strong. Whom ye see and know ye, the faith which is by him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of ye all.
[1:26] Amen. And so when he started preaching, he said, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers. So this morning, we'll be tackling the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
[1:41] We want to look at why did Peter start from this point? Because of course he was preaching to the Jews. He was preaching to a people who have a covenant with God.
[1:51] And they have always referred us from the beginning, which is Exodus chapter 3, verse 14, 15, 16. God introduced himself to Moses when the people of God were due deliverance.
[2:06] God introduced himself as the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, who was about to send him to deliver them, the people of Israel, from captivity in Egypt.
[2:20] And so God introduced himself. Why did God introduce himself? God had called a man called Abraham, and he had formed a relationship with him. And God called him because, not because he deserved it.
[2:32] The man was a heathen, had no knowledge of God, and God called him. I really do believe that when it comes to unique encounters, it's an initiation from God.
[2:42] I genuinely believe. Things that is necessary for a certain direction and a certain move of God. I mean, God was busy pastoring a nice church, and God came to him and said, Now you're about to seek revival.
[2:55] This is your new mandate. You know, so I believe that there are times that as much as we desire some things, we also have to rest in God. Because he definitely has a plan.
[3:06] He knows why he called you. He knows why he saved you. And he has a plan. And in due season, he'll open you up. Provided we're working with him, he'll open you up into things that are necessary for the fulfillment of your destiny.
[3:21] And so God appears to Moses. And in Exodus chapter 3, verse 14, introduces himself as the God of Abraham.
[3:33] So anyway, let me just read this. And so verse 14, he said, and he, so this, Moses is saying the burning bush. God has called him, God has spoken through to him, and he's now giving him his assignment.
[3:46] And verse 14, and Moses said unto God, behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, the God of your fathers has sent me unto you, and they shall say to me, what is his name?
[3:59] What shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I am that I am. And he said, thus shall thou say unto the children of Israel, I am has sent me unto you.
[4:12] Verse 15, and God said, moreover unto Moses, thus thou shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob has sent me unto you.
[4:29] This is his name forever. Wow. And this is my memorial unto all generations. So God had chosen to call himself the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
[4:48] And he's asking Moses to go in this name. Initially, he's introduced himself as I am that I am. But let me just break it down for you. So he said, I am that I am. But that compasses a lot.
[5:00] The names of God is so many, and it's expressed in so many ways. So he said, let me bring it down to you as a people. Now, I have intentionally developed, cultivated a relationship with your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
[5:18] And I'm asking you to go in this name. Some of us, I believe God, that God is raising us. That our children one day will say, the God of my mother. The God of my father.
[5:30] The God of my auntie. I have seen her pray, and God has answered, today, God, I call upon you. We have the privilege to see our father, Pastor David, walk with God, make sacrifices.
[5:42] And many of us have stood on that and said, the God of our father, David, answer us. Each one of us have the privilege to do that. And this new dispensation, to walk with God such that people can refer.
[5:54] That this person has walked with God and has gained a certain equity. And therefore, we can bank on God. We can bank on that equity that God will react.
[6:05] Let's not just walk with God anyway, anyhow. Because one day, your children might need your God. Even though they have to generate their own relationship with God and have their own relationship. But one day, somebody needs to refer to your God.
[6:17] And say, God, remember this person. God talked about Cornelius and said, your prayers and your almsgiving have become a memorial before me. There's a way you can walk with God and serve God.
[6:30] That is a memorial. There's an equity you have gained with God. That the day you have a need and you cry out to God. God must answer and God will answer. Because your works, your walk, your relationship, your sacrifices have become a memorial before God.
[6:46] God cannot ignore it. God cannot ignore it. So he tells Moses, go in my name. Go in my name. Go in the name. We had the choir singing.
[6:57] There's a name. Go in the name. It will make way for you. It will open the rivers. It will part the sea. It will kill Pharaoh. It will defeat the armies that you can't contend with.
[7:10] Go in the name. Look, we may face challenges. But we have a name. The name Jesus. We can call on Jesus. And Jesus answers.
[7:21] He shows forth. He said, go in the name. You are a stammerer. You can't speak. Yes. Moses said, I stammer. I can't speak. How can I go before a king? And Pharaoh at that time was one of the mightiest kings in that generation.
[7:33] And God is sending you to Pharaoh to say, excuse me, my slaves that have used over 400 years. How dare you come before me to say, release those people.
[7:44] You were actually, Moses is a criminal. He's a wanted man in Egypt. And really, you should have been coming to beg and seek mercy and pardon.
[7:55] You are coming in an authority. In what authority? That's why when the demon saw these seven sons of Sceva about throwing names about, he said, Paul, I know.
[8:05] Jesus said, who are you? No. They didn't come in the name of Jesus. They were just throwing a name about. And they were dealt with accordingly. But he told Moses, go in the name.
[8:18] Go in my name. You're walking into an interview. As much as you know, as qualified as you are, go in the name. Go in the name. You see a situation in your family and you think, God, things are falling apart.
[8:33] But face it in the name. Face it in the name of Jesus. There is power in the name of Jesus. We don't throw it about. It's not a curse word. Jesus is not a curse word.
[8:43] The world may not get it. But we know who he is. We know who he is. The authority and the power he commands. So when we call on him, we should expect a response.
[8:54] He said, go in the name. Go in this name. These three men, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It's a thrapi type.
[9:04] So Abraham is one man. Isaac is another. Jacob. And God built a relationship with them. Each one of them having depicting an aspect of God.
[9:15] And how God will relate with his people when he finally gathers them. But we see also in Matthew chapter 28 verse 19. We see that Jesus commissioned us and said, go therefore and make disciples of all nations.
[9:29] Baptizing them in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Three. Thrapi type. And so Abraham signifies the Father.
[9:39] In the name of Jesus, the Son, which is Isaac, Abraham's son. And in the name of the Holy Spirit, we see Jacob. And today that's what we're going to be exploring. But even in Matthew chapter 28 said, go therefore in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
[9:56] And so God definitely has a plan. Man had fallen in Genesis. And God had always intended to save man from this calamity of sin.
[10:08] And so he calls out a man, Abraham, who is a heathen man, has no relationship with God. And God speaks to him. Genesis chapter 12. So God is setting in motion a plan, which Abraham is completely clueless about.
[10:22] He has no clue. So God finds him in a certain state. He's married to his wife. They have no children. And then God decides that, okay, this is a good candidate for my plan.
[10:34] My plan to pull all nations together. Why do you start with a man who can't give birth? It doesn't make sense. The same way with the story that doesn't make sense about your life.
[10:45] God can glorify himself through that. It is that one that God likes. The one that you have strength in. To be honest, the glory doesn't really show forth or shine forth.
[10:55] But the ones that we are weak in. He said, my strength is made perfect in your weakness. That is the very one God likes. So God gets to Abraham. And he says in Genesis chapter 12, verse 1, he said, And I will bless thee and make thy name great.
[11:23] and thou shalt be a blessing. And I'll bless them that bless thee and curse them that curse thee. And in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed. Wow.
[11:34] You are talking to a man who has been married for a while and they have no children. And God brings this word. He said that I will bless you and you'll be a blessing. And they that bless you shall be blessed and they that curse you shall be blessed.
[11:47] And in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed. He said I'll make you a great nation. It does not make sense. It does not make sense.
[11:58] But it's God's plan. That in God's plan he sets in motion with Abraham to bless him and that out of him will come a saviour. God will get a people, prepare a people and out of that will come a saviour who will save mankind.
[12:13] And the salvation of mankind was not only for the Jews but he said all the families of the earth will be blessed. I think the Jews didn't understand it. So that's why Peter had to start from the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob because they could relate with that.
[12:27] They could connect with that because that's how they've called God all throughout those generations. But they thought that it must be just for us. But then actually when they take a good look at the scriptures that's not what God said.
[12:38] Right from the beginning God said it will be more than just you. But for them it was just them. And they didn't understand. They didn't even get Jesus. All this it doesn't make sense. How does it fit in God's plan as the plan that he has for us.
[12:51] But he said it will be the seed of Abraham. And the seed of Abraham was more than Isaac. And so God is God the father. He is the one who initiated the call onto Moses.
[13:02] He initiated a call onto Abraham. So I mean Abraham couldn't have thought about going to God. That's why I said some encounters would have to be God initiated. And we have to believe God that however he will come will be ready.
[13:14] God initiates a call onto Samuel. Samuel was a young boy. Had no clue how God calls people. To the extent that when God was calling him he didn't even know it was God calling him. He thought it was Eli. And that was the beginning of the great ministry that God had for him.
[13:28] We see Jeremiah. God called him. Busy living life. Doing his own thing. But God said from your mother's womb I called you. How do you have known? But that's God. God, Elisha was busy plowing his field.
[13:41] And the call of God came upon him. By the throwing of a cloak over him. That leave this. And he responded to it. Gideon was a man busy. He was just worshiping. Like God, life is not good.
[13:53] And then the call of God came. God calls us. He's the initiator. And it's like you have to trust God that if he created you, he formed you, he allowed your parents to come together.
[14:07] And it wasn't any other but you to come out. You must believe that God has a plan for your life. You are not an accident and you are not ordinary. The world may classify you as ordinary.
[14:19] May put you in classes. Gender, female, male, black, white, all kinds of educational, whatever places the world puts you in. You have to know that in that, you stand unique before God.
[14:34] In that, you stand unique before God. And that gives you a certain confidence that you are not intimidated by the things that come your way. Because God definitely has a plan. And I think if Christians, we can have that realization and that confidence that God has, he's got every day of my life planned out.
[14:53] You know that it is well. You know that it doesn't matter. This one too shall pass because God is working. God is working. God is working.
[15:04] And so God initiates different people's calling. We see in Luke chapter five, God calls Peter. Peter goes fishing. He gets, he starts his day. I mean, normal as a fisherman, gets his boat, jump into his boat, does their normal daily things.
[15:20] I pray may you have visitations in your normal daily activities. Sometimes people are looking for special things to do in order to encounter God.
[15:32] But I believe that all the people, they were just doing their normal things. As you do normally, God can encounter as you're brushing your teeth. God can encounter you anywhere.
[15:44] Just have a sense that, God, when you come, may I notice you. May I actually have a sense of realizing that this is God at work. This is God speaking. This is God coming into my life with a word.
[15:55] It's important. And so Peter is going fishing. No more. And then that day was a faithful day where he would encounter Jesus. Wow. And his life is completely transformed from a fisher of fish to a fisher of men.
[16:12] Levi, which is Matthew, is a tax collector at his seat doing his job. At his tax collecting seat doing his job. Jesus said today, follow me.
[16:25] Wow. Exactly. To be honest, he wasn't a nice man because all tax collectors were not liked because they were inflating their taxes. Your own day are good.
[16:35] You know when your pay slip comes, particularly times that you've gone into a contract or done some extra stuff and you're expecting a certain amount of money and you think HMRC has rigged you. It hasn't.
[16:46] But as for Levi, we know that he will rig. He will take more than necessary. However, Jesus, as he's going about his daily life, he calls him.
[16:59] Luke chapter 6, verse 12 to 16. By the time he gets to verse 16, Jesus goes up to pray at verse 12. By the time he gets to 16, Jesus has put together all his disciples.
[17:10] None of them could have known that me, I'm going to be a disciple of Jesus. When the Messiah comes, I'll be the one who is chosen. None of them could have. God, you know, and so it gives me this confidence that God indeed has his eye on us and that on a daily basis, we should be expectant of what we will do.
[17:29] But go about life as normal. God can visit you in your daily activities. Amen. So God is the initiator and what he did with Abraham indicates that God is the one who calls.
[17:40] God is the one who initiates. So under Abraham, God the father, God is the initiator. God is the one who gives the seed of a destiny. God is the one who calls man. And we see him do that with Abraham and we learn from that, that God as a father calls.
[17:57] And God is the one who justifies. And so Abraham is an interesting man because complete he didn't, but he's going to walk with God and that the actions he take, the scripture says that it will be accounted unto him for righteousness.
[18:09] In Galatians chapter three, verse six, the Bible says, just as Abraham believed God and he was accounted to him for righteousness, therefore know that ye also, those who are of faith, are sons of Abraham.
[18:24] So when God appeared unto Abraham and gave him his promise, the scripture says, Abraham believed God in spite of what he did not have, in spite of his circumstance, Abraham said, God, if you say this, I believe it.
[18:41] And so that act of saying, God, I believe, God said, you are justified before me. You are right. That's why faith matters. And faith is very, very important before God that what he says, we believe it.
[18:54] It tells God the estimation that we have of him. When God says, A, and he said that, as long as it's God who said it is A, Lord, I believe, in spite of the circumstances around you, it tells God your estimation of him.
[19:09] And it puts God in a position where you prove that your estimation of him is right. And so our faith, that's why I said they just shall live by faith. That exploits, moving from one level of grace to another, it would take faith.
[19:23] So Abraham in his, this beginning of his relationship with God, faith, God brought a promise and faith opened the door for him to step into it.
[19:35] Galatians chapter three, verse six said, even as Abraham believed and it was accounted unto him for righteousness, know ye therefore that as ye are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
[19:46] And the scripture foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith preached before the gospel unto Abraham saying, in thee shall all the nations be blessed.
[20:00] So then they which are of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. Abraham. Let's jump to verse 14. That the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Jesus Christ that we might receive the promise of the spirit through faith.
[20:17] Verse 16. And it said, now to Abraham and to his seed were the promise made. He said not and to the seeds as of many but as of one and to thy seed which is Christ.
[20:31] And this I say that the covenant which was confirmed before God in Christ the law which was 430 years after cannot disannul that it should make the promise of none effect.
[20:46] Amen. And so this is how we are grafted into the family of Abraham through Jesus Christ. But the scripture says that when just the one we just read the scripture says that when God was preaching or giving Abraham the promise he did it before the law so that those of us who would have to be saved outside the law we can use the same means through which Abraham was justified which is faith we would also use outside the law we can also be justified.
[21:17] So it was important that in spite of a long season of the law God started justification through faith which was Abraham.
[21:28] And so that is why even those who are under the law will still have to go through faith to be justified. And so God is the one who justifies and justification will be by faith in Jesus Christ.
[21:39] Hallelujah. Thank God we don't have to do the law. It is a great thing. They said we ourselves Peter said we ourselves have not been able to it has become a yoke for our fathers and we ourselves are not able to fulfill the law.
[21:54] Why do we then put it on these ones? No. You should shout hallelujah. I am not under the law. It is by faith. So God through Abraham communicates to us that he is the one who calls he is the one who initiates he is the one who has a plan for your life.
[22:12] He is a father he is God the father who has a plan for your life. And not just that even though we are born in sin as part of his plan for your life he has a justification plan for your life to make you just as if you never sinned.
[22:28] Yeah. Some of us are having throwbacks and some of this some of the you know this one you can know that this is a proper sin. This is a sin. It cannot be whitewashed.
[22:39] This is a sin. You just can't make it look better. It's a sin. Those very ones God made room for us. God made that Jesus Christ through faith in Jesus Christ you and I will be justified.
[22:52] So through the God of Abraham who is the God the father we are justified. And then also gives us a means to relate with God which will be by faith.
[23:02] So through the God of Abraham we live by faith. Genesis 21 and 22 talks about Abraham's faith being tested because now Abraham received the promise by faith and then it took a while they had a few ups and downs which included the coming forth of Ishmael but eventually they received the promise.
[23:24] Hallelujah. Gosevan went into that last week. So eventually they received the promise the promised son and when the promised son came Abraham at that time was over 100 and so really it's like we have retired isn't it?
[23:37] We found God we have received the promise all is well the boy is growing we found God God has fulfilled his word but then God comes to Abraham again and says Genesis 22 it said and it came to pass after these things that God indeed tempt Abraham and said unto him Abraham and he said behold here I am and he said take now thy son thy only son Isaac whom thou lovest God is very specific I mean you cannot say it's Ishmael God is trying to say it's Ishmael you just can't mix the two it said take thy son thy only son Isaac meaning God as much as Ishmael was there was not really recognizing Ishmael as the son of Abraham even though God eventually Abraham pleaded with God to bless his son Ishmael so God blessed Ishmael that's why maybe they have a lot of oil but as expression of the blessing they go from their dad but it said thine only son Isaac whom thou lovest wow and get thee unto the land of Moriah and offer him there as a burnt offering unto one of the mountains which I will tell thee this is a serious test this is a serious test that God puts before Abraham it's almost like what is the hope
[25:05] Sarah by this time her womb was already dead before Isaac came so it took a unique miracle but then after this miracle their womb must be even deader by now because it's now it's now a young lad isn't it so it's been a few years now no network no connectivity but then God comes to say that and God knew what he was doing he said and God came to tempt Abraham so it's not like he doesn't know and when you're going through situations that God you're crying behaving like God doesn't know what you're going through he knows God knows exactly what you're going through and the way you are crying it's like God have you seen he has seen so God can't you do something about it he can will you do I may but Abraham had received the promise and now a demand is being placed on him to sacrifice but Abraham knew
[26:11] God he had taken time to know God working with God and therefore as he took the step of obedience and took his son made his way to obey God when we jump into verse 7 it said and Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said my father and he said here I am my son wow this is a nice talk isn't it father and son he said my father here I am my son wow father and son it's a beautiful relationship yeah and he said behold the fire and the wood but where is the lamb for a burnt offering it means that Isaac knew how sacrifices are made to God yeah he knew and he could see that there's fire here there's wood here but the real thing that we use to make sacrifices there's no lamb and Abraham said my son God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering so they went both of them together so as far as Abraham was concerned he was going to obey God because when you read further down when you get a chance later on you can read for yourself you read further down you see that
[27:17] Abraham actually set the altar put the wood on and put his son on raised the knife about to kill him because as far as he's concerned obedience was more important to God but he makes a statement of faith here in verse 8 and it says God will provide himself a lamb that was an expression of faith that you are a human being that I'm going to sacrifice but I don't know how but God will provide God will provide for himself it will be for his glory the things that God must do it has to be so spectacular that it cannot be denied that this is the doing of the Lord and it will be for his glory so Abraham God in his relationship with Abraham had taught him that he has to live by faith there's a unique expression of faith before he even received Isaac Abraham went through a season 25 years of the promise and the fulfillment of the promise and he didn't receive the promise as a young man as an old man and he's waiting upon waiting and in this season during your waiting season it will be a testing season but it's also a building season a season of building and strengthening yourself in the Lord look for some things we just have to wait on God everybody will have their waiting season on something what it will be none of us can tell but everybody would have to but unfortunately we don't take advantage of that season and use it as a productive season a lot of us will go through that season crying complaining weeping wailing upset today I'll serve
[28:59] God tomorrow I'll not serve God I mean oh my my all the wholesome way and God is saying take advantage learn from me stay with me understand me love me take use that season to build because he will show up some of us receive the promise and we're not even ready for the promise we're not prepared for the promise some of us receive the promise and we didn't make the most of the season another to make the most of the fulfillment of the promise the seasons of waiting they are not supposed to be wasted we are supposed to build up in seasons of waiting and so Abraham waited for 25 years for Isaac and after his mess he straightened up and even after he straightened up about 13 years before Isaac came by that 13 years he walked with God he did it right and he believed God that what God has said he would do it also we see another beautiful aspect of God's relationship with Abraham that is communicating to us that Abraham they had a fellowship and so Genesis chapter 18 verse 16
[30:12] God is about to send angels to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah but Abraham's nephew Lot is in that city and God says shall I do this and not tell Abraham so God felt that I have such a relationship with Abraham that I cannot go and do something that may even affect Lot and not tell him he said shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing wow shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing so God is about to go and destroy a people who have completely disobeyed him and moved away from his principles but he said as long as I am coming here on earth I have to at least pay obeisance to Abraham this is a deep relationship it is a genuine fellowship he had with God and that is speaking to us James chapter 2 verse 21 describes Abraham as a friend of God a friend of God wow it is nice to sing it but it is better to live it it is better to live it and so in the God of Abraham we see God as the initiator we see God as the one who justifies we see the God who helps us to live by faith and the God who desires to have fellowship with us
[31:26] God desires to have fellowship with you he desires to have fellowship with me we are his children he is a father you know so that means that as a father he is supposed to build a relationship with us let's not withhold our relationship with God it is God's desire and so if it is not happening then it is not us we are the ones who go off yeah we are the ones who go off it is like every now and then we forget about God yeah we forget about God that he actually desires a relationship with us and to have fellowship with us and therefore let's cultivate the habit of doing it and sometimes I always really encourage people because today's generation people are completely confused they think it has to be recently God someone was preaching he was saying that it is better to have a consistent relationship than one you know a chunk in a short period yeah so he said that it is better to have an hour a day you know over three years than have like three moms over three years where you are seriously pushing pushing pushing and after that you leave God it is supposed to be an ongoing relationship all of us who have experience of having fathers you know that your father doesn't talk the most but then when you connect with your father it is a real connection yeah and so God not only is the God of Abraham the father the initiator the justifier the one who will help us to live by faith and desires fellowship of us it is also the God of Isaac
[32:48] Isaac is the son of Abraham and we relate to God the son who is Jesus Christ through the expression of Isaac Isaac was the only son we read earlier on the only son God recognized he said take thy only son only son whom thou lovest Jesus is also the only begotten son John 3 16 and Abraham believed that he will receive Isaac even if he said God will provide for himself a lamb Hebrews chapter 11 verse 17 and 19 talks about Abraham believed that he will receive Isaac from the dead and the same Jesus also experienced the resurrection of the father Isaac was not the son of the flesh which is the son of the carnal flesh which is Ishmael and Jesus also was not the son of the flesh but God the son Jesus Christ in Isaac is the redeeming man the sacrifice of God so Genesis chapter 21 as we read earlier on
[33:49] Isaac was presented as the sacrifice he was bound and ready to die and to be honest we can definitely attest of the fact that that's Abraham's obedience assented to God's sacrifice that he was going to make in the future that he would give his only begotten son for our sins so kudos to Abraham in John chapter 1 verse 29 Jesus when Joseph he said behold the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world the sacrificial lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world so Jesus Christ is the sacrifice God's sacrifice 1 Corinthians chapter 5 verse 7 it says Christ is our Passover the Passover every Passover so therefore page out to the old living that ye may be a new lamb since thou truly are on living for indeed Christ our Passover was sacrificed for us was sacrificed for us so that obedience that Abraham did of his son and Isaac also willingly doing it typifies Christ that he would also give himself sacrificially for our sins 1 Peter chapter 1 verse 18 to 21 it says for as much as you know that you were not redeemed by corruptible things as silver and gold from your vain conversations received by traditions of your fathers but with the precious blood of Christ as of a lamb without blemish and without spots who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world but was manifest in these last days to you who by him do believe in God that raised him up from the dead and gave him glory that your faith and hope might be in God but with the precious blood of Jesus as a lamb without blemish and without spots so Jesus Christ is the perfect sacrifice the one who redeems us his sacrifice redeems us
[35:49] God the son is the redeemer and the sacrifice of God and that sacrifice is what has brought us all into relationship with God faith in him has in the sacrifice he made has brought us in relationship with God and he also brings us into an inheritance so when we read the scriptures we see that Isaac if you can get a time to read it you see that even the wells Isaac dug or all his father's wells and Abraham gave all his inheritance to Isaac Genesis chapter 25 verse 5 and so Jesus Christ also brings us into an inheritance God the son who is crucified by Christ is the one who brings us into inheritance hallelujah you have an inheritance your earthly parents might not have given you a stash of gold but I promise you you have an inheritance in God hallelujah amen yes yes we have an inheritance in God so Genesis chapter 25 verse 5 the bible said and Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac but we know that Abraham was rich very rich the bible says very rich and the scripture says he gave all that he had unto Isaac just because he was his son and that's what access to Jesus
[37:08] Christ gives us God the son gives us access into all the riches that is in the father wow yeah you are thinking about your bank account it's more than that Genesis chapter 26 verse 3 and 4 it says that sojourn into the land and I will be with thee so this is part of the inheritance so Abraham has secured something and God is now speaking to Isaac he said sojourn in this land and I will be with you and will bless thee for unto thee and unto thy seed I will give all these countries and I will perform the oath which I swore unto Abraham thy father so Isaac is coming into an inheritance based on the relationship his father had with God he said God is making a promise to him just like he made to his father Abraham he said I will bless you and I will give you all these and I will perform the oath God had made an oath to Abraham that it's not just you you and your seed and Isaac is now stepping into adulthood he's stepping and God said you're not coming empty handed you have backing you have an inheritance your father has secured something for you and God said the promise I made
[38:20] I'm not going to break it because Abraham is not here anymore no I'm going to do it because I swore to Abraham your father and so Isaac hasn't necessarily built any strong relationship or cultivated any strong relationship but he's stepping into something because of his father that is what Jesus does for us forgiveness of sins you think is a small thing it's not a small thing no go and ask people who have sins that have not been forgiven they're having all kinds of nightmares it's not easy to be a non-believer it's not easy because the mess the nonsense decisions you don't have Jesus you don't have the scriptures you don't have the Holy Spirit people who don't have it are bound to make all kinds of foolish mistakes you see them succeeding in the workplace but home is a mess it's hard to do life without God it's hard it's frustrating you don't have anybody to say I take up the weight of you man can't do it he said by the arm of flesh we shall not prevail so having that inheritance that we step into that Jesus is secured for us sometimes we take it for granted but it's the best thing we have it's the best thing we have having our sex to the scriptures and the Holy Spirit living in you all things are possible all things are possible so Christ brings us into an inheritance
[39:36] Ephesians chapter 1 verse 11 in whom also we have obtained an inheritance being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will God is working God is working God is not crossing his legs sitting up in heaven looking just watching him no he's working but there's a way he's working he's working all things after the counsel of his own will the will of God is the best will for our lives you may have plans but God's plans are better we are very short sighted as human beings you see the job that you thought was a dream job and after three months you didn't like it anymore yeah you see a girl that you thought that this girl are broken through even going close you felt like wow I can't believe this girl you won't even look at me and after a while you realize that hmm it's not what I thought yeah you know I mean we are very short sighted very very short sighted you have big plans but you realize that your plans have got holes in them it's only God's plan that's perfect and let's tell God that he works out his own plan for our lives according to his own will not according to the things we think what we think there are times you even catch yourself and say stop being silly you talk to yourself and say stop being silly because really these things they're thinking about it's not taking you far
[41:02] God's plan is the best plan we can have for our lives Hebrews chapter 9 verse 14 and 15 verse 14 it says that how much more shall the blood of Christ who through the eternal spirit offered himself with our sports to God page your conscience from dead wakes to serve the living God verse 15 and for this cause he is a mediator of the new testament that's by means of death for the redemption of the transgression that's where under the first testament they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance hallelujah that's why I said don't think about your bank account our inheritance is not only here on earth it's eternal it's eternal we might spend 120 years here but our inheritance is eternal that's why he encourages us not to store our treasures here on earth because here on earth is good but there's something better eternal something longer forever and ever is way longer than 120 forever and ever
[42:13] I said our inheritance it's not just here on this earth it passes through our lives so we don't live like with those who have no hope no our inheritance covers us here and takes us also into eternity when you get into eternity there's an inheritance waiting for you here on earth you can also cash in but we all do a pension plan why?
[42:33] because you want to get to a certain point where there's something waiting for you so those who are 22 and you think you don't need pension please it's a good idea but there's a reason why we do savings there's a reason why we have a pension because you want to get to that day where there's something waiting for you even though you know that bills must be paid now you know that life must be lived now but you also know that you have to prepare for the future the inheritance that we have in God not only taking care of us today but also prepares us for eternity is an eternal inheritance and God the son gives us access Jesus Christ gives us access into this being the sacrifice a sacrifice that we could have never been paid a price that we could have never paid and not just that bring us into an inheritance and then God also describes himself as God of Jacob so God of Abraham is the father God of Isaac is the son and God of Jacob is God the Holy Spirit the one who loves man tarries with man till Christ comes
[43:37] Christ spent 33 years the Holy Spirit is spending a lot more than that staying with us going through life with us teaching us helping us instructing us directing us he loves us he stays with us he is that God Romans chapter 9 verse 10 the Bible says and not only this but when Rebecca also had conceived by one even by our father Isaac for the children being not yet born neither having done any good or evil that the purpose of God according to the election might stand not of works but of him that calleth hallelujah thank God he calls it was said unto her the elder shall serve the younger and it is written Jacob I have loved but Esau I have hated I know thank God we are of Jacob that's all I've got to say thank God we are of Jacob God there are people on the other side but he's the God who chooses to love us he chooses to love us he said
[44:43] I am the God of Jacob when you look at Abraham we're talking about faith we're talking about initiation there's no there isn't any love relationship there's a fellowship there's no talking about love when we see Isaac we see sacrifice of course sacrifice is bare from love but he's not talking about that his main emphasis is the sacrifice and also inheritance but when we get to the God of Jacob the Holy Spirit who is going to tarry with us long here he says let me introduce myself as a God who loves he loves us he loves us for God so loved the world that he gave he loves us that's his expression his expression towards us I choose to love you in spite of you not deserving my love I choose to love you so anytime in this generation where different things mean different things to people when you go on social media which we are all working ourselves out or I mean the world tells you and it doesn't have to be a TV it doesn't have to be a signboard a billboard it's on your phone and the world tells you what they think about you and unfortunately some of us expose ourselves to things that are not encouraging and are not building and the world is telling us something different from what God thinks about us but just somebody has if in case you've forgotten
[46:01] God loves you God loves me Jesus loves me this I know little ones to him belong but he is strong hallelujah we know he loves us the things we do how we miss the mark but he still stays with us is a real indication of his love for us he's a God who loves he's a God who sanctifies and sanctification is a process isn't it sanctification is transforming us into the image of his son into the image of the son Jesus is our mark Jesus is our pattern Jesus is our hope and the Holy Spirit stays with us God is also called the Jehovah Mekadishke meaning the God who sanctifies that the sanctification process is all through our lives until Christ comes or God calls us home and Jacob went through that with God so Jacob we see him arrive holding the heel of his brother he arrives on earth so when they were being born he comes holding the heel of his brother
[47:13] Genesis chapter 25 and then he got his brother to sell his birthright I don't understand that because if my two children if one did that to the other I'll be quite upset why is it that food that your brother has to eat you have to take advantage of that and take from him his birthright where did he even give you the idea just give the food isn't it because in our homes we don't expect that no you expect that when your brother has to eat yeah just share we say that all the time share share share just share and the siblings are so funny then we see one break something small and give to I said oh I'll give you but a very small portion I'm like but then this is what happens I don't know how to explain that but it did happen so to give his brother some potage he says transfer over your birthright and then I'll give and he's also being unwise said I'm dying how can you die at least you have a mom move and go to your mom
[48:18] I'm sure your mom will have some food stash somewhere there must be fruit there must be something the best fast food is an apple or something you can find something around but he also says I'm dying ah you dying you're not dying but anyway that's Jacob for you so he enters the earth holding his brother's knee that you're not going beyond me and then gets his brother to sell his birthright and then deceives his father to get a blessing and so you can see this person is very strong in his ideas in his moves and then after he kind of deceives his father to get a birthright it becomes an issue in the family finally it becomes an issue but because he was a child that the parents could see of course they had heard God about him before when they were in their mother's womb God had spoken about them because there was a struggle and Rebecca inquired of the Lord and then God told them God told Rebecca who the two children you have in your bed so definitely because they had that knowledge of the two children
[49:19] I'm sure they are watching them as parents normally would do but they have that in mind and so they see that okay even though he has deceived him he has almost like worked for the promise which was supported by Rebecca Rebecca also helped was part of the the tricking of Isaac and so Samadis I tell you they are like this the mother of the sons of Tanda James St. John and so they know this so after Isaac had blessed Jacob and it had become an issue they encouraged Jacob to go to the mother's family and so Jacob leaves his family his mother his father and his brother and that is where God starts so all this while he's been using his own strength his own schemes his own planning and you know shenanigans all kinds of his own ways to secure things but God said for me to do what I need to do in you I have to separate you I have to separate you as I said earlier and all of us will have our wilderness season all of us will have our waiting season because God uses that to work on us that is called the sanctification process so we have been saved it's a beautiful thing on the day you save whether you might be in a church we'll clap for you we'll give you we'll celebrate you all that but after that after you secured your eternal inheritance now work has to be done because there are stuff that needs to come out things that need to be put in and that is the journey that we have with God it's called the journey of sanctification and so in the wilderness
[50:50] God appears to Jacob makes a vow to him Genesis chapter 29 and 30 he finally arrives to his mother's family and he raises a family there and Genesis chapter 31 God then tells Jacob return to your father's land and in that Genesis 32 verse 24 to 30 that's the point where on his journey back home an angel appears to Jacob and wrestles with Jacob and changes his name and that is confirmed in Genesis chapter 35 that his name has been changed from Jacob to Israel Jacob which means supplanter you know he will catch you he will sidestep you supplanter but then now his name is changed and God didn't just change his name verse 35 he comes back to confirm that indeed this is what I said your name is no longer supplanter but your name is Israel and that name has stayed all through this generation up till today what God does is eternal it will remain if God is doing it it will remain but then we see that
[51:59] Jacob has become a new man has become a different man so as we walk with God God wants to do the same with our lives he doesn't want to leave us as he found us it's not possible for you to be saved and remain the same then you are not saved something is off some of us even come to give our lives to Christ and we talk about you are told about new believers class and you say I don't want to go I say why are you really a believer do you know how to live this life you don't so why don't you want to go to new believers or you go for two weeks and class three you don't want to go oh why why do you want to go for class three and finish well because it's good stuff it's supposed to help you you've just been birthed into a family and we want to tell you how things are done here we really want to encourage you but when God finds us and God picks us and saves us most of us are still if we are not helped if the Holy Spirit doesn't continue to work on us we will live the natural life even though we are no longer carnal we are supposed to be spiritual even though we've been translated from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light we might easily continue the life that is in the kingdom of darkness and this is where the Holy Spirit begins to work on us some of us our strength is unforgiveness some people will say me to forgive you are lying
[53:13] I will never I will never say are you serious just say I'm struggling God help me say me to forgive I will never I will never forgive it's like and they think that they are harming the person they are telling I will never forgive in a moment it might feel funny that oh wow I've really wronged this person the person doesn't want to forgive me it doesn't feel nice but really you are the one carrying the burden some of us have actually very good natural traits we are quite disciplined this is good but it cannot become our strength in working with God it's more the reliance on the Holy Spirit and the work he is doing in us that is the certification process some of us we have natural intelligence so we can figure everything out before you consult God you figure it out so in your life you don't need to consult God on anything because you have answers for everything you wonder why people can't see you can't see the answers your mind is so active and always at work that God doesn't have room to introduce his plan introduce his intention he introduces ways to you natural intelligence is not a bad thing but it can easily hinder our certification process there are so many things it's individual we all have different streams they are good they are blessing from the Lord so sometimes when I speak to parents and parents will say this my child is so strong she is too hard
[54:38] I said there is a reason why God made her like that or him like that however it needs to be you know sanctified it is not to be broken no it needs to be molded because whatever God is asking them to do whatever destiny God has for them it requires that that is why God gave it to them so don't break it but rather mold it and then there is coming a time you will sound God that this child is very strong yeah there is a way to do it but it is important God the Holy Spirit and all of us once you have given your life to Christ this is where we are and all of us remain in this journey until Christ comes or he calls us home so the pastor is being sanctified the new member is being sanctified the believer who has been 25 years is being sanctified we are all being sanctified and it is the beautiful work of the Holy Spirit how does he do it he does it by the word of God he does it by the word of God he says sanctify them by thy truth
[55:44] John 17 17 thy word is truth Ephesians chapter 5 verse 26 of course we talk about it when it comes to marriage but he said that he might sanctify the inclines of the washing of the water by the word it is only the word of God that the Holy Spirit will use to sanctify us and so this means that we should avail ourselves to the reading of the word to the hearing of the word to the study of the word because in that the Holy Spirit will be using that to change us transform us the Bible says in Romans chapter 12 verse 2 it said do not be conformed to the word but be transformed by the renewing of your mind it is necessary that you may prove that which is good and acceptable and perfect will of God it will take transformation and renewal and it is the beautiful work of the Holy Spirit and when every now and then you catch yourself and you say that wow I have changed I have changed and in that moment is the time to say thank you Holy Spirit because this is the work of the Spirit hallelujah hallelujah it will take the Holy Spirit to bear the fruits in us beautiful fruits so that we don't bear the fruits of the world but we bear the fruits of the Spirit all of a sudden you realize how patient you are how long suffering you are this is the Holy Spirit at work things that in the past you could never do now you are doing it is the Holy Spirit at work he is sanctifying us by the word we are hearing on a regular basis so if I was if I go to the word on a daily basis probably part of our daily reading or any other means just know that the Holy Spirit is available to sanctify you and take all kinds of things sometimes you are actually quite upset with yourself there are things that you have done and you say
[57:20] I can't believe I have done this again but we have to trust that the Holy Spirit God the Holy Spirit the God of Jacob is working on us and he will continue to work on us until he presents us blameless and spotless to him in Jesus name Amen Hallelujah Praise God Thank you for listening to this message Why not visit your local Carice Church or follow us on all relevant social media platforms including Instagram and LinkedIn You can also hear more messages on all relevant streaming platforms and the Carice Church app Don't forget to like and share the message Be blessed Thank you you
