[0:33] Ephesians chapter 2. And you, her secret kind, who were dead in trespasses and sins, wherein in time past ye walked according to the cause of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works or worketh in the children of disobedience, among whom also we all had our conversation in times past, in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

[1:28] Here ends the reading of God's word. Amen. Father, what we don't know, teach us. Who we are not make us, where we are not take us, all to the glory of your name.

[1:45] In Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. Praise God.

[1:56] So, last week, where exactly did I end? Well, the text we just read, it's a very interesting, very powerful text.

[2:10] Last week, I attempted to draw your attention to the fact that, oh, Jesus is the image of God, and God had a plan to form the church, and the church is like the bride of Christ, even as Eve was the bride of Adam, you remember.

[2:37] And that God, we ended much more, we couldn't go too much into chapter two, because I spent so much time in chapter one, trying to explain how the church, which is his body, and I explained how in the Old Testament, there are different imageries, or portraits, given by the Bible to Israel, as the people of God.

[3:03] They are the house of God, they are the family of God, they are the chosen people. And all these portraits were, reflect, they are the sheepfold of God. All these portraits were, have now, like, the church is that portrait.

[3:18] Okay, so, whatever portrait they use to typify, or to exemplify, or reflect Israel, the same portrait can be used to reflect the church now.

[3:31] But there's one portrait that can be used to reflect the church, which was never used to, as a portrait of Israel, which is the church as the body of Christ.

[3:44] Right, so, what I was trying to establish is that, from heaven, when you look at the intentions of God from chapter one, according to Ephesians chapter one, when you look at it carefully, it tells us about God's perspective, so long as the church is concerned.

[4:01] And God's, in God's mind, and God's perspective, the church is the body of Christ, and is the bride of Christ.

[4:12] Now, then you go to chapter two, and then this is a letter addressing the church, which is supposed to be the body of Christ. So, chapter two starts with, and you.

[4:23] So, it's a continuation of the last verse, chapter two, verse 23, of chapter one. So, if we go back to verse 23, it says that he gave him to be the head of the church, 22.

[4:37] Then 23 says that, the church, all things for the church. Then 23 says that, the church is his body. The church is the body of Christ.

[4:50] Right. Right. The fullness of God, who, sorry, of Christ, who fills all in all. That is, watch this, this is very important.

[5:02] That is, heaven's perspective, not government perspective, not society's perspective, but the perspective of heaven, concerning the church, is that, the church is the body of Christ, the church is the fullness of Christ.

[5:20] So, outside of the church, there is no proper way, Christ can be exemplified, or typified, I don't have to be, I don't want to be using the word typified, can be reflected, or portrayed, outside of the church.

[5:35] There's no other way, Christ can be portrayed, effectively, like, the fact that, he, that outside of the church, you can't find Christ.

[5:46] That, that's a very serious statement, I'm just with, you can't find Christ, outside of the church. That's God's plan. Excuse me, how can you say that?

[5:58] So, if someone is knowing that, he doesn't go to church, he can't find Christ. Saul of Tarsus, he wasn't in church. He was on his way to go, and kill the church, and he met Christ.

[6:10] But then he said, Christ, you know what, now, it's just between me and you, let me, show me, tell me what I'll do, I'll do, he said, I don't have anything to tell you, go to church. Go to, Acts chapter nine, he said, go to church.

[6:24] And then guess what, verse 11 says that, there was a certain disciple, a certain, say disciple, who is a disciple? Look, there was a certain disciple, certain church member, someone who has been in the church, and has been groomed in the church.

[6:38] He has a better understanding, on what church life is, who God is, who Christ is, so go to him, he'll tell you about what I want you to do. The church is the fullness of Christ.

[6:51] So there's no anything you can discover better about Christ, outside of church. You can, you can hear about Christ, you can, history can tell you about Christ, but not the way the church, church can tell you.

[7:04] Let me digress before I go to chapter two, again. Last Thursday, I was teaching about, who is Christ? The only way you find out who Christ is, is in the church.

[7:18] Well, I can read my Bible, I don't have to go to church. I can read my Bible, if you read it properly, it will tell you that, go to church. Because, the full picture, of whatever the Bible is saying, to experience it, must be within the church.

[7:32] He said, therefore, I pray for you, that God will give you the spirit of wisdom, revelation, and knowledge of him. That the eyes of your understanding, if you are not in the church, will he be praying for you? He was praying for the people in the church.

[7:44] That, even though they can read, now there's a spiritual dimension about our discovery. The discovery of Christ is intensely spiritual, it's not just intellectual.

[7:56] So, if you exempt yourself from the spiritual atmosphere, he said, where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there. The reason why, all right, okay, let me put it this way.

[8:09] Ha ha, oh, thank you Jesus. This is even better. For those of you, think that you can just read your Bible and know God, you are joking. You are joking.

[8:23] The reason why I'm standing here, is because, if you try to read the Bible and know God yourself, you are joking. That's why I'm standing here. Ah, so I'm trying to say, you are the only one who can teach, ask God, did I say that?

[8:37] What did you get the idea from? What did you get the idea from? He said, how can they be saved? Without believing? How can they believe?

[8:50] Without hearing? How can they hear without a preacher? What's that? What's that? God establishes you according to my gospel. Ah, Ephesians, Romans chapter 16, I think verse 25 or somewhere there.

[9:04] It says that God establishes you. What? Now unto him, who is able to establish you, by his power. No. According to what?

[9:15] Not the gospel, my gospel, the gospel I have been given to preach. God wants to establish you, by has committed the gospel to preach, to me. And that is the gospel, that he will use to establish you.

[9:27] You cannot be, you can never know God unilaturally. Nobody can know God unilaturally. Listen, brothers and sisters, a lot of the things I'm saying here, it's not because I slept and I had an idea, or I read my Bible and found it all.

[9:41] No! A lot of things I say, I wouldn't have found out, just reading my Bible. Because the Bible has to be explained, by people who have been taught, a disciple named Ananias, by a disciple who has been discipled, who has been discipled, who discipled, second, first Timothy chapter two, oh, chapter two, verse one, oh, second Timothy, sorry, second Timothy chapter two, verse one, and verse two.

[10:11] This is again Timothy, my son, verse two, the things, verse two, the things which you have heard from me, what are you supposed to do? Among me, what are you supposed to do? Commit to faithful men.

[10:22] Now watch this. It is that the things you have taken from me, or physical things you have received, it's that things you have heard. You don't hear money from a person, do you? You don't hear tangible things.

[10:34] You hear something, an information. He said, that information you have heard from me, what are you supposed to do? Commit to faithful people who also do what? Who also be able to teach. So that is how I ended up getting to understand the scriptures.

[10:47] Because somebody who has been taught, taught me. And I'm still being taught. I'm still reading books of people who have understanding. I don't read one person's book. But I read books from people who have understanding.

[10:59] I listen to preaching of people who are sound and serious. I'm always listening to preaching. You can never be an effective man of God without listening to preaching.

[11:11] When you see a man of God preaching, and he says things that, wow, I've never heard anything like this before. It means that he has also been taught by somebody. Revelation does not come from self.

[11:26] Well, you are dead. They begin to know everything. No, it doesn't happen like that. The text is standard. The text cannot be changed. It is there, but it must be explained.

[11:37] This is the job of a pastor. And the job of a Christian is to explain the text to other Christians. So when you get born again, you make friends with someone, some people who already also sound in Christ, who can also help you to understand the scriptures, and understand church life, understand how you handle some things.

[11:57] That's how we all grow. Have you seen a child who was born and left to grow by himself? Nobody grows by yourself. Nobody grows up by yourself.

[12:09] Even as an adult, once you grow up, most of you are still children, or some of you are still children, but once you hit 20, 21, even 30-year-old one can not live by himself.

[12:21] You need people. So where do you get this idea that I can serve God by myself? Didn't the Bible tell you it's not good? Where from chapter 2 of Genesis it's not good for man to be alone?

[12:32] But you to serve God, you don't know what you're talking about. I can be by myself alone. Let me show you something else. So okay, I was saying something.

[12:43] Let me finish that. Jesus said, who do men say I am? He said, some people said, and he said, who do you say I am? The Bible said, Peter, Samuel, Peter said, Matthew chapter 16, verse 16, you are the Christ, the son of the living God.

[13:01] And Jesus said, blessed are you, Samuel, by Jonah, for flesh and blood does not reveal this unto you, but my father who is in heaven. I tell you, Peter, upon this rock, I'll build my chair. Jesus is very interested in who you say he is, who you know him to be.

[13:18] But that cannot be, it's not just purely left to you to discover. You have to be taught from this, the text to reveal Jesus.

[13:30] You have to be taught and teachings gradually help you to understand. Now watch this. I said last, as the every religion, and many of the major religions, do acknowledge Jesus.

[13:46] So when you hear a Muslim telling you Jesus is in the Quran, it really, you will see, and that be Isa somewhere. That's Quranic terminology. Isa.

[13:57] Jesus. Somewhere in the Quran, but it doesn't necessarily mean it's the same Jesus who died on the cross. But somewhere in the Quran, they make reference to Jesus. And they say good things about Jesus.

[14:08] One of the greatest things the Quran, Quran says about Jesus is that Jesus is a prophet. That's it.

[14:19] He's not God. He said he's a prophet. But he's a prophet who is inferior to Prophet Muhammad. So they need him to elevate, to give Muhammad a certain status.

[14:35] Church of the Mormons, Latter-day Saints, they say Jesus is a great man, a great teacher, almost like God, but he's not God. He has powers like deity.

[14:48] He has some godly, or he's like, he can operate in a certain level, above human level, as God. But he's not God. There's God the Father. The main God is there and then he's a assistant God, like next.

[15:03] Church, Latter-day Saints. Jehovah Witnesses is like a prophet, he's like an angel. He's like he was created to be an archangel. He's not normal person.

[15:14] So Jehovah Witnesses believed that he was a human being, but he's not a normal human being. He has archangel, angelic powers. He's supernatural. He's above the normal people.

[15:25] So you see, they don't say anything bad about Jesus. They all say, but the problem is that that's why it makes sense when Jesus says, who do you say I am? Do you understand that?

[15:36] Matthew chapter 16, verse 16, says that, who do you, verse 15, who do you say I am? Peter said, you are the Christ. Who is Jesus? Jesus.

[15:46] The Christ. Who is Jesus? The Christ. The son of the living God. Who is Jesus? The Christ. The son of the living God. So all the religious that say they also believe in Jesus or accept Jesus, ask them, ask Jesus, is he the Christ, the son of the living God?

[16:03] If they say no, then maybe you are free to politely let them know that. I think it's a different one. It's a different one from the one Christian's worship.

[16:16] right? It's okay to say we worship Jesus. Yeah. The ones Christians worship. We are, he is not just our, the leader or founder of Christianity. He is the life of Christians.

[16:29] Our other religion is based on the philosophies and the teachings of their founders. Right. So Islam is primarily about Muhammad. He's a great prophet and they say, is he Sha Allah or something like that.

[16:43] Peace be upon him or something like that. Yeah. Muhammad, you know, is the greatest of all prophets and he taught them how to live.

[16:55] He taught them and that's it. Which, that's how the, what the religion is based on the teachings of Muhammad. Christianity is not based on the teachings of Jesus. Hinduism is based on teachings.

[17:10] Mormonism is based on teachings. Christianity is not based on, is it, I'm saying something very strong. It's not based on the teachings of, so you can be a theologian and not a Christian. You can know all the teachings of Christ and all the teachings in the Bible and still not be a Christian.

[17:27] You can call yourself a Christian but it doesn't make you a Christian. It doesn't make you part of the church. You can be going to church all your life and still not part of the church.

[17:39] Christianity is not built on the, just the teachings of Jesus and the, the philosophies that Jesus chained out.

[17:52] He chained out philosophies that were unparalleled, unrivaled philosophies. He said that love your enemies and do good to those who hate you.

[18:07] Wow, these are, these are, these are above the law of Moses. What the things he's teaching, who can keep them? The things he's teaching, he said, I didn't come to condemn.

[18:19] The Ten Commandments were 100, oh sorry, that's very interesting, the Ten Commandments. The Commandments of Moses were 613. So you know, that's why I said the Ten Commandments were 613.

[18:32] But he said Ten Commandments, but he said usually we use the word, the phrase, the Ten Commandments to represent the law. So really it's not Dasha, only the two things, no, no, no, the Decalogue, that's why the Decalogue, but the commandments of God that came through Moses, the law, it's called the law, 613 different laws.

[18:58] And yet they couldn't keep them, no one could keep them. And you would think that Jesus would come and make it easier. Rather, the teachings of Jesus, if you add them, they are about 1,002.

[19:11] So it's more. We are struggling if they take them. I mean, I mean, Moses, Moses didn't say. So you can look at a man who you have a crush on and not get his picture on Instagram or Snapchat and be, hmm, I like this guy.

[19:27] I like this guy. And boys like that a lot. You can look at a girl, a girl's picture and say, hmm, this girl, and you finish and continue your religion, you have not sinned because you have not done anything.

[19:40] You've not done anything. She doesn't even know that you have been fisting your eyes on her. You can see her pass. You can see her pass and shaking her and then you are looking, ah, this is amazing. This girl is, ah, and you haven't sinned.

[19:54] So long as the law of Moses is concerned, then Jesus comes. He says that if you look at her and, ah, Jesus, ah, no, Jesus. So the Bible's higher.

[20:11] But it didn't come to give us laws. That's why the church is not built on the laws or the teachings of Jesus. So the law, the church said, the church is built on who is Jesus.

[20:26] That's what the church is built on. Who do you say Jesus is? That's what determines whether you are in the church or not. If you get it wrong, you are not part of the church of God. Ah, are you guys saying it? If you get the answer wrong, it doesn't matter how good you are.

[20:41] It doesn't matter how nice you are. It doesn't matter how kind you are. You are not part of the church of God. So Jesus said, who do men say I am?

[20:52] Is someone getting something? Who, but who do you say I am? And Samuel Peter, he said, you are the Christ, the son of the living God.

[21:03] Then Jesus said, blessed are you. It's a blessing to know that. That's why it's good to have a good teacher. It brings, the, the, the blessings in your life who is determined by your revelations that you have understood.

[21:18] He said, blessed are you, Simon Bajona. You are Peter. I tell you the truth. Upon this rock. Hmm. Upon, let's all say, upon this rock.

[21:29] Upon this rock. Say it louder. Upon this rock. Say it very loud. Upon this rock. Upon this rock, I will build, oh, oh, Jesus will build, so he came to build.

[21:40] And what is he going to build? The church. So the church is built upon a certain rock. What is the rock? The rock is the revelation of who Jesus is. It's not the teachings of Jesus, but who Jesus is.

[21:54] That's what determines whether you are part of the church. Because the church is built on that foundation. If you don't have that foundation, you can't be part of the church. Upon this rock.

[22:06] So, when it comes to all other religions, it's about the teachings of their leader. When it comes to Christianity, it's about not just the teachings, the person.

[22:18] The person of Jesus. Listen, you can have all the teachings. If you don't have a personal relationship with him, you are not part of his. So, it's a, watch this, it's a personal, I can regulate your relation with Jesus.

[22:34] It's not in my power, not in the power of your mother. It's not in the power of any man. It's in your own power. To determine who he is to you based on what you have discovered about him here. So, when, then you determine, you build your relationship with him and it makes you, you see someone building their relationship with him, you flow with them, you flow with them, then we become the church.

[22:56] So, the church is a combination of people, not one person, a combination of people who have had a personal relationship with Jesus based on who they see Jesus to be and see him to be the savior or the Christ and son of God.

[23:14] Jesus is Christ, the son of God. That's what makes Christianity different from every other religion. All other religions is the teachings, the teachings, Christianity is the life and the person of Jesus. is, madam, I have the life of Jesus in me.

[23:27] That's what makes me a Christian. Then, we can now begin to teach you about his teachings. It's his life in you first. So, he encountered, Saul of Tarsus encountered Jesus and he received him and he said, now go and Damascus, they will teach you and the disciple will tell you the rest of their story.

[23:49] So, the teachings of Jesus come to those who have not received and have a relationship with him. So, then that makes it very interesting to attempt to pastor people who are not born again.

[24:00] So, so, Christianity is built on me and Jesus. You know him. So, you know him, you know him, you know him, you know him, you know him, I know him.

[24:12] That's what makes us the church. And then, now there are people who he has given the responsibility based on how well they have been discipled to disciple others.

[24:23] Then you also disciple others. Others who already have a relationship with Jesus. So, we evangelize people who don't have a relationship with Jesus. And what is the message of our evangelism? Jesus is the Christ, the son of the living God.

[24:35] Once you believe that, you are part of the church. So, maybe you have even not found a church or your name is not in the books of a church but you are already part of the church in the eyes of God. Because why?

[24:46] You have come to believe and accept that Jesus is the Christ. Who is Jesus? The Christ, the son of the living God. Who is Jesus? The Christ, the son of the living God.

[24:57] Hallelujah. Amen. Everybody thinks they reserve the right to tell you who Jesus is. Don't take lectures about Jesus from Mohammed.

[25:11] Don't take lectures about Jesus from Joseph Smith. Don't take lectures about Jesus from Buddha. Don't take lectures about Jesus from Discovery Channel.

[25:26] Or the Simpsons. No. Take lectures about Jesus from eyewitnesses who knew him and saw him.

[25:40] They were there Mohammed never saw him. I'm telling you something very important. Eyewitnesses like Peter, like James, like John. John, the book of John said in the beginning was the word.

[25:53] Why is he talking the way he's talking? He said, and the word became flesh, verse 14, and we beheld his glory. We saw it. Just eyewitness. He reserved the right to tell me who Jesus is than someone who never knew about him, who never saw him.

[26:10] Are you learning something? Very important. Don't let us reduce church to the way you feel. Sometimes, we might not even touch on your sins, but it's okay if we help somebody to understand what this whole thing is about.

[26:28] That's why I'm never shy and afraid to correct someone who is in church with a certain type of attitude. God is not marketing. Not marketing.

[26:39] We are happy to see you here. It's so nice. I mean, it feels different to have you here. But we are also happy to let you go if you don't value what is going on here.

[27:04] Oh, yeah! So much. So, when you look at Ephesians chapter 1, it tells you Heaven's portrait about the church.

[27:16] And what's Heaven's portrait about the church? The church is the body of Christ and the fullness of Christ. What's the church? The body of Christ. No, no.

[27:26] Answer it away. The church is the body of Christ and the fullness of Christ. What's the church? The church is the body of Christ and the fullness One more time, what's the church? The church is the body of Christ and the fullness of Christ.

[27:38] Who is Christ? Who is Jesus? Jesus is the Christ, the son of the living God. You guys are amazing. I'm sure you never filled any exam. Let's try it again.

[27:56] Who is Jesus? Jesus is the Christ, the son of the living God. How can you all get it as him? Are you copying somebody's new source? Who is Jesus?

[28:07] Jesus is the Christ, the son of the living God. Says who? Me? No, the scripture. I'm not a printing press. I have no written, it's the scripture.

[28:19] And what is the church? The church is the body of Christ and the fullness of Christ. What is the church? The church is the body of Christ and the fullness of Christ. These things are very important.

[28:29] And then you build your understanding on that. As you grow in Christ, you begin to understand it more and more and more. How can you know Jesus without the church when the church is the fullness of Christ?

[28:42] That's right. Did you understand that? Yeah. How can you know when the church is the body of Christ? How can you know Jesus without the church? So, in Ephesians chapter 1, verse 22 and then 23, it tells us what the church is.

[29:00] The church is the, verse 23 particularly. The church is the body of Christ and the fullness of him who fills all things. Then we go to verse 2. And it says, chapter 2, I'm sorry.

[29:11] And it says that, and you, talking about you, the church I'm talking to. This is very interesting. You, the church I'm talking to. I've already told you what the church is. Looking at the church from 40 feet above sea level.

[29:26] All right. With a bear's eye view. From heavenly view, sorry. With a heaven's view. Looking at the church. And when you look at heaven's view, the church is the body of Christ. But now let's look at the church from the earth.

[29:37] Ah, you. So, he says, and you, who you were dead, or he has made alive, who were dead in your trespasses and sins.

[29:50] Say dead. Dead. Say dead. Dead. Dead. Dead. I want one of the text, or versions.

[30:01] I want a version that probably will bring, you, who were dead, has he made alive. Because maybe some people might not be so good with grammar. But it's the same thing.

[30:13] See, you, has he made alive, who were dead in your trespasses and sins. Okay. English term verses. And you, and you were dead in your trespasses and sins.

[30:25] All right. So, he said, we were dead, you were dead in your trespasses and sins. That's what we actually are. Oh, that's what, sorry, we were.

[30:47] How can a dead man produce a living church? Now, we have, it didn't say some of you were dead, though. It's you talking about the church.

[30:57] You. So, before we go, in the last week I spoke about, before you start boasting about who you are, who you are, I know who God says are just true.

[31:08] But don't forget, you have to tread softly. You don't know, don't forget who you actually are.

[31:18] Who you actually are. Some of you, it's unbelievable that you have to have funigating. Sure.

[31:29] No, you know, how many of you have, have friends in the past who they found out, who found out that you are now in church and preaching and they are shocked.

[31:42] Yes. Yes. People, for us, you. You. Oh, no, come on. No, no, no, no, no. Sometimes when you, some people, when they change, other people say, no, I will change.

[31:56] If this guy has changed, I'm also going to change. When I got born again, even though I was not a bad boy doing, but when I changed, people said, no, if David has changed, I will also change. Some of you, your salvation is a testimony to others.

[32:14] That's true. That's true. Since you became born again, other people have followed suit. Because you used to be in the gangs. You used to be messing up. You used to be a very troublesome person and you changed.

[32:26] And people were shocked. It made people realize that this thing is real. And they saw that you have actually changed. You changed. They saw you going to church.

[32:37] Huh? Huh? Huh? Now your mother's pastor even started calling you. No. We haven't seen you in a while, but you never saw me.

[32:55] Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. And you, who were dead in your sin, trespasses and sin, has he made alive?

[33:05] Okay. So King James again, I don't know you, King James. You were dead in your trespasses or NIV. You were dead in your trespasses. Let's look at how the NIV puts it. NIV. You has he made alive.

[33:18] As for you. That's what I was looking for. Wow. Now, think about this. Who was he talking to?

[33:29] Oh, no, no. Let's look at that text. All right. Who was he talking to? Yes, sir. The people he has written verse one to. He's not talking to a different set of.

[33:41] The people he wrote the verse one to. Look at verse one, verse four. Chapter one, verse 14. What he said about them. If you remember. Therefore, since verse 14. Says that.

[34:03] Your faith. Talking about people who have faith. And what? Your love. Your faith in Jesus. These are people who have believed that Jesus. Who is Jesus? The son of the.

[34:14] So these are people who have believed that Jesus is the Christ. The son of the living God. He said. When I heard of your faith. In the Lord Jesus Christ. And it has manifested in the way you love other people in church.

[34:26] You love the same. And you love for the same. You say I can't stand church people. He says. You are not born again. Yeah. As for me. Church people. I don't believe in anybody. It's because you are fake.

[34:37] That's why. Fake people think others are fake. Fake people think. Genuine people think everybody is genuine. So when people are very genuine.

[34:47] You have to caution them that not everybody is genuine. You know what I'm talking about. People who are trustworthy. People who will not hurt anybody. They easily believe everybody.

[34:59] Because they think everybody is like that. They judge people from their perspective. The reason why you believe all men are trash. Is because. So he said.

[35:18] When I saw. I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. And your love for the saints. I did not cease to pray for you. And he began to tell us. These grandiose prayers he was making for them. Then after that.

[35:29] He tells them that. He was given to be the. Head of the church. Which is the body of Christ. Which is the fullness. Then after that he turns on them. He said. As for you. Okay.

[35:40] And I have you again. In the first verse. Chapter 2 verse 1. As for you. You were. It didn't say you are. So he is talking to people who were. Dead.
