[0:13] Yesterday I spoke about, what did I talk about? Why we pray? What was point number one? Number two?
[0:25] God answers prayer. Number three? I desire to God when we pray. Number four? To give us purpose. Number five?
[0:38] When you pray, you give heaven permission to act on your behalf or on earth. Number six? When you pray, the heavens open. That's so nice.
[0:52] It's so nice to operate under open heavens. Hair is good. It's good. It makes things work for you. It's like you feel life is sweet.
[1:04] When you operate under open heavens, you will operate under open heavens. Number seven. There are evil forces at work. Yes. Evil forces are real.
[1:16] Some of them are very powerful. Very powerful. The man says that a demon comes on him and tries to cast him into fire. Destroy my son's life.
[1:28] Mark chapter 9 from verse 19. He said, but if you can do something. Verse 22. Do something about it. Verse 21 rather. If you can do something, do something. And Jesus said, if I can, all things are possible to him who believeth.
[1:41] And then the man said in verse 23. Lord, I believe. Help my own belief. But the point is, he said, an evil force tries to cast, throw him fire.
[1:53] To destroy. Weak spirits. Evil spirits are very wicked. Oftentimes, cast him into fire. And into the waters. To destroy him. That's a demon's job.
[2:05] To destroy you. You demons cannot destroy you when you are praying. Number eight. Did I give number eight? I thought I gave number eight.
[2:17] So as I was meditating, God was giving, I felt receiving more. And the first one I received was when I was writing, but I've written it already.
[2:29] Number eight is what became number nine. So number nine and number eight were similar. In James chapter 5 verse 13, he said, is anyone afflicted?
[2:43] Let's all read it. Let's go. Let's read it again. Read what is on the screen. Know what I said. Let's go. Who is there in our heart? What is there in our heart?
[2:54] Let's pray. Yeah. Who is there in heaven? Let's pray. So when you are married, is this a do party? He said, sing psalms. Yes.
[3:08] You are not singing praises. You are going to do party. I'm not saying party is evil. But when you are happy, you want to celebrate, sing praises. Sing psalms.
[3:18] Oh God, you are a good God. So he says that if the main, the first point is the one. If anyone afflicted, let him pray. So what prayer does is it gives, it makes us receive strength from God to go through anything you are going through.
[3:37] You receive strength to go through or to handle afflictions. Strength. So the point is that when we pray, we are strengthened. You are strengthened when you pray.
[3:50] Ephesians chapter 3 verse 16. He says that the God, the Father of, that he will grant you according to the riches of glory to be strengthened with might.
[4:06] Now, that was a prayer topic. Look at verse 15. Verse 15. All right. That's why. Verse 14. Yes. Look at 14. He says that for this cause, I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
[4:20] What does that mean? For this cause, I'm praying. And look at a prayer topic. That the Father of whom the whole family, that he will grant you according to the riches of glory to be strengthened.
[4:30] With might in your inner man by the Spirit. How many of you have ever felt like backsliding before? Yeah. Sometimes you feel like you are tired.
[4:45] But some have actually backslided before. Yeah. That's one thing that has never happened to me by God's grace. That I'll backslide. No, I don't know how it feels like to backslide.
[4:56] Because I'm always in the midst of congregation. Even when we are not in church, all my friends are like congregation. So, because of the fellowship I keep around me, it's not possible to backslide.
[5:13] How can you be wet? How can you be dry when you are in water? You cannot be dry in water. No. So, anyway, that's my own story.
[5:25] But sometimes you feel like not doing something for God. But when you pray, strength comes. When you pray, you are strengthened.
[5:37] You are strengthened. Sometimes you want to do something and you feel you lack might. You lack strength. You lack the internal fortitude. When you give yourself to prayer, strength comes.
[5:52] How many of you have enjoyed strength through prayers before? Yeah. It's a very amazing thing. So, number eight is when we pray, we are strengthened.
[6:05] You receive strength. So, why should we pray? Because when we pray, we receive strength. Number nine, why should we pray?
[6:17] Prayer helps us to deal with afflictions. Afflictions. Afflictions. Wahala. Nigeria, they call it wahala.
[6:30] Troubles. Worrying situations. How many of us have been through some turbulent and worrying situations before? Yeah. Prayer. Prayer can help you to deal with it or go through it.
[6:44] Besides the strength, it helps you to be able to handle situations and deal with it the way you should deal with it. Yeah. Your wife insulted you.
[6:56] And you feel like, this woman, I have to leave her alone. Your wife or your husband insulted you. Or your husband did something.
[7:07] He saw he was chatting with his ex. Say, God forbid. Yeah. Yeah. And sometimes, something has really distraught you.
[7:18] You are confused about the situation. Affliction. Is anyone, before going around calling that your sister. Calling that your brother. Calling this one. Is anyone afflicted?
[7:29] Let him pray. You've just been told an information from work. You've received an information from doctors. You've received an information from your children's school. You've received an information from the bank.
[7:40] You've received a letter that your car is about to be clamped and taken away. This is the worst one. You've received a letter from the home office that leave the country now.
[7:56] Yes. Is anyone afflicted? You lose appetite. Pray. Pray. Pray. Pray. So I'm glad we are here to pray. Because one way or the other, somebody here is handling some afflictions.
[8:09] Small one, big one, different levels of affliction. Is anyone afflicted? What do you do? Pray. Yes. You have to pray in affliction.
[8:20] Number what? Number 10. When you pray. When you pray. You are taking refuge in God. It's like your Bible says the name of the Lord is a strong tower.
[8:33] The righteous. It said, when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Psalm 61 or so verse.
[8:44] Hear my cry, O Lord. Attend to my prayers. From the ends of the earth will I cry unto you. When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
[8:57] Let me hide myself in you. The songwriter said, rock of ages, cleft for me. Let me hide myself in thee. So, when you are looking for, you have to run away from something.
[9:15] Pray. God is a hiding place. Oh yeah. The Lord is my hiding place. God is my hiding place. When I had my greatest attack in my life, I hid myself in God.
[9:32] You see me walking, but I'm hiding. Yes. I'm hiding. How do you do that? By praying. Praying and hide yourself. Take cover. Take cover.
[9:46] He says, lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Those days, when you are in a forest or a big bear or lion, a huge one that is coming.
[10:01] Some of the rocks I've got, it's like a cave, but it's not a cave. When you go there, the big animal cannot come. So, that rock is higher than you. Go and hide inside it. So, he said, when my heart is over.
[10:12] That is over. Heart's being overwhelmed. When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to a rock that is higher than I. God is our, Psalm 46, verse 1.
[10:27] God is our, God is our refuge and strength. A very present help in time of trouble. So, when trouble hits, where is God you are going to hide in him?
[10:42] No. The only way you can hide in God is get into the place of prayer. Start praying. He said, he's our very present. He's our refuge. You know who a refugee is? Yeah.
[10:52] Refugee. They're running from where they are. There's war. Their lives are dead. And they run to UK for refuge. To take cover. And God said that me, anyone who prays is saying, God, I'm a refugee.
[11:05] And you are my refuge. You are my place of safety. You are my place of safety. He says that even if the mountains, you wake up and the mountains you have been seen have all been moved into the sea.
[11:18] Even if the whole earth is taken away. He said, because God is my refuge. He said, therefore, I will not fear. Though the earth be removed. Can you? You are standing and they remove the earth. He said, let alone losing your house.
[11:34] The whole earth, even if it's taken away, God is my refuge. Therefore, I will not fear. Though the mountains be carried away into the midst of the sea. He said, I will not fear.
[11:45] God is my refuge. So, when you pray, you are taking refuge in God. So, you see why it's good to pray?
[11:56] You see why it's good to pray? Some people don't pray. And they say, oh, the pastor will pray for me. Oh, my friends, my sister is a powerful prayer warrior. Maybe she doesn't really pray. Because some people who look like they pray.
[12:09] Please. It's not people. Because, you see, you can't know whether people are really praying or not. You can never know whether they are really praying. Especially some of us who say, oh, we are praying with you.
[12:21] We are praying for you. If he himself is not praying, get it out to pray. You have outsourced your prayer. For someone to do it for you. Take refuge in God.
[12:32] I'm so busy. If you are so busy to pray, you are too busy. Especially when you are faced with a challenge and crisis and trouble.
[12:46] Doctors have told you, come in two weeks' time. Because what they saw is very worrying. But they want to analyze and so come back in two weeks. Let them do. Between that time and the two weeks, you don't have time to pray.
[12:59] Ah, shabby. You have to pray. MC Amma said, we got to pray.
[13:09] Just to make it that day. That's why we pray. We pray. So you have to pray. You have to pray. Number what?
[13:23] Number 11. Oh, I like that. When you pray, you open up yourself to divine illumination. Illumination is to be enlightened.
[13:39] God said, let there be light. It's like the scales fall off your eyes. You begin to have some deeper insights. Not into some strange things.
[13:50] But that is pertinent and necessary for your work with God and your mastery in life. You have insight. Ah. Ah. I don't even know, Pastor.
[14:01] Yeah. Just, just don't know me. I don't know. No one really taught me, you know. Oh. I don't think I read it anyway. About the mystery of honor. Definitely it has been mentioned one or two.
[14:12] But I think if some years ago, the revelation hits my spirit. And I said, yeah, I can never go down. No one goes down honoring figures of, of honors in their life.
[14:26] Figures God has placed in their life. Like your mother, father, your prophet, your pastor, your spiritual leaders and stuff like that. You honor whom honor is due. You can't easily be a cheap victim.
[14:39] No, no, no, no, no, no. How did I get to know that? Not just by reading the Bible. I got the mystery of honor. It was so like light. Now, those things don't come outside of the place of prayer.
[14:53] You get enlightenment. We can teach you offering and offering and offering and offering. And if your eyes are not open, you won't see the divine revelation behind offering.
[15:04] And your life will still be operating with a limited understanding of offering. And you will still be suffering. Oh, yes. Lack of offering and dusty suffering. Yes.
[15:16] Oh, yes. Anytime you will be a believer in God for some, well, divine intervention. Look for a sin to sow. Now, we can say this and say this.
[15:30] If you don't have illumination, it will be mental knowledge for you. It will be mental knowledge for you. And guess what? That means that your life has been restricted. Because you go up by revelation.
[15:44] So, when you pray. Ephesians chapter 1 verse 15. It said, I do not cease to make mention of you my prayers. Verse 15. After I heard of your prayer.
[15:56] No, I'm going to mention of my prayer. Make your mention of my prayer. Look at verse 15. That, what's the prayer topic? That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of you.
[16:09] It's prayer topic. I am praying that God will give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him. You have insights. No man of God thrives without insights.
[16:24] Theology is not what makes you do well. Insights. Insights. And those things don't come because you are intelligent. Those things come because your heart is open to God and revelation.
[16:35] And revelation comes faster in the place of prayer. Right. Yes. You will see light. Bible says that in thy light we shall see light.
[16:49] In thy light we shall see light. So, when you pray, you expose yourself. When you pray, you divine revelation.
[17:03] Sorry, divine illumination. Let me add one more. Number 12. I have 19 at the moment. Number 12. Ah, this is good. Number 12. Prayer. When you pray, it gives you opportunity to stand in the gap.
[17:18] You are a mother. You are concerned about your daughter. You don't pray. When you pray, you stand in the gap. Some of us, you are concerned about your child. Don't miss any of the prayers.
[17:31] Come and just, you can dedicate, sometimes you can dedicate this season to tackle one thing. Yes. Prayer can cover a lot of things. But sometimes you can just tackle it.
[17:42] And pray for me, this is my daughter. And pray for this is my job. Maybe your boss. Maybe your sister, who is always insulting church. Recently, someone came and spoke to me.
[17:56] Who was it? I'm concerned about my sister. Because my sister has decided to, and the husband has decided to pick major quarrel with my dad. And the husband is insulting my dad, my sister.
[18:07] I say, your sister is in deep trouble. He say, I know. But she doesn't even know. Because she's convinced that she's in the right. Because her point, your point might be right.
[18:19] Your point might be right. But your destiny will suffer. Because you have breached protocol. Yeah. You have breached protocol for destiny thriving.
[18:30] Nobody's destiny thrives when you fight the objects of honor. No, you can't fight an object of divinely endorsed object of honor. You can't fight and have a peaceful destiny.
[18:42] He says that honor your mother and father, that it may be well with you. So if you don't do it, listen, it doesn't matter how much money you have. It will be well with you. Only you, everything you buy will not work. Yeah.
[18:54] You buy a new car and it will stop on the motorway. And you come and change it. They say that everything is fine. Everything is fine. And then they even give you a replacement.
[19:05] That one, two, you are driving. The brake stops working. The tow truck that came also broke down. So that's what I'm saying. Yes.
[19:23] Your house, the roof breaks down and you didn't have insurance. So you went to live with your friend. And then your friend starts to catch fire.
[19:33] Ah! It's obvious you are the common denominator. Something evil is following you. It's Jonah. It's Jonah. So you can stand in the gap for your brother, for your sister, for somebody.
[19:51] Prayer gives us the opportunity to stand in the gap for others. What you might not even be able to tell them, you can talk to God about them. So don't allow, your sister have told you, doctor said, I have glaucoma.
[20:05] Don't allow you to go there. Start interceding for them. Is he okay? Let me add number 13. Prayer will allow you, give you the opportunity to tackle matters that are beyond human comprehension.
[20:21] Human, um, you see, the human mind might not have direct access to. 1 Corinthians chapter 14, verse 2. It says that if anyone speaks in an unknown tongue, 1 Corinthians chapter 14.
[20:37] For he who speaks in an unknown tongue speaks not unto men, but unto God. For no man understands him. Habit in the spirit, that's why.
[20:49] In the prayer, in the spirit, you can be speaking mysteries. Mysteries. Things that you don't have an idea about. You don't have an idea that somebody, some people have met after work.
[21:04] Whilst you are in church, they have gone to church somewhere. They are discussing how to make you lose your job and frame you. You don't know. But as you are praying tongues, you are praying prayer. You are praying.
[21:15] Prayer is beginning to deal with things that you don't have an idea about. He who speaks, he said, habit in the spirit, he speaks mysteries. It's only in prayer you can, you can speak mysteries.
[21:27] You can speak things your mind doesn't know, but still you are dealing with it. You are dealing. How many of you understand that there are things you have to deal with? Typical example is, you don't know what is coming next February.
[21:41] You don't know. But when you start praying, You are beginning to tackle things that the human mind doesn't know. You are tackling things that are beyond human, natural human comprehension.
[21:55] You can tackle it. That's the powerful thing. It's only in the place of prayer where you can, even weather focus cannot tell you some things. Weather focus can only tell you the weather. But you cannot tell you the number of houses that can be destroyed.
[22:10] It will tell you. Heaven and earth shall pass away. Matthew, Athens, they will perish. All this vanity. And if you see, it's important to pray. Thank you for listening to this message by David Entry.
