[0:00] Hallelujah. We thank God you've tuned into this message by David Entry at Caris Church. No hand can help you with the fulfillment of your destiny but the Word of God. May God's hand align you further into your destiny through this word.
[0:15] Who do you say that I am the Son of Man? Matthew chapter 16 verse 13.
[0:27] When they came to Caesarea Philippi, when they came into the coast of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, say disciples, say disciples. I love that. Say disciples.
[0:42] When he came to the coast of Caesarea Philippi, he said, who do men say I am? And he said they gave four. Some say you are John the Baptist. And then some also said he was Isaiah. I mean Elijah was the only prophet you didn't die.
[0:57] The Bible said a chariot of fire took him. And so the Jews knew Elijah was coming back. So what you say that Elijah is back. Man, Elijah is prophet among prophets.
[1:09] And some say Jeremiah. Jeremiah was one of the finest prophets because he was so selfless and suffered so much for God, for Yahweh. And so he said, just a fine prophet.
[1:21] So he realized that Jews really held him at very high esteem. He prophesied about exile. They were going to exile, so many things, and they would come back. Jeremiah.
[1:34] And then they said, now, well, maybe some are not sure where they put you. They said you are one of the prophets. Yeah. That sounds like Islam. Yeah. That Jesus is one of the prophets. Yeah. He's also a prophet.
[1:46] And so Jesus said, no comment. No comment. What do you think about me? I don't care. What people think about Jesus really, it doesn't mean anything. By you. But you. He said to them, but who do you say that I am? You. Who do you say I am?
[2:08] That's the foundation of Christianity. The foundation of Christianity. Christianity begins with who you say Jesus is. It doesn't begin with you coming to church.
[2:20] It doesn't begin with you buying the Bible. It doesn't begin with you being fasting. And you are praying, oh God. Most people who pray to a God, they think I help him.
[2:32] But really, they don't know him. And most people know the works of Jesus, but they know the person of Jesus. Christianity starts with your definition or your discovery or your revelation about Jesus.
[2:49] The true revelation. Not what people say. Not what you assume. But who he actually is once you discover that. Because then, Peter said, you are the Christ. I really like this.
[3:03] And the more I'm growing in the Lord, the more I keep getting stuck on the Christ, the Son of God. It is so loaded. And besides its loadedness, it's so soothing and so sweet.
[3:15] It does. It does something to the heart of the believer. But Jesus, Peter said, you are the Christ, the Son of the living God.
[3:29] If you are in this church by God's grace, or you are exposed to my preaching, and you get tired of this, then I'm sorry. You'll get more tired because this kind of statement, Jesus, the Son of God, Jesus the Christ, it will be woven into everything that we do.
[3:46] We preach. So if you are a member of this church, or you are a visitor in this church, this scripture, Matthew 16, verse 16, is not a scripture you should know. It's a scripture that should be so common to you.
[3:59] So it says that you are the Christ, the Son of the living God. I want to talk briefly about, you know, when we say the most essential thing you have to know about Jesus is that Christ is pointing to a human figure.
[4:16] That Christ is not a spiritual figure. When I say spiritual, like spirit. The Christ is the convergence of so many descriptions by the prophets of old.
[4:27] And they said, you're born by a virgin. A virgin. He will die. He will resurrect. His blood will wash sins. He will forgive sins.
[4:38] He will be the son of David. He will be a prophet of prophets. He will be a prophet par excellence like Moses. He will be the reflection of everything essential in the Old Testament.
[4:51] So he will be the reigning king. So that word Christ is a description of the convergence.
[5:02] One person. He is this. He is that. He is that. So he is the son of Abraham. He is the son of David. He is the son of Mary. He is the son of a virgin.
[5:13] That is a very confusing statement. How can someone be a son of a virgin? But the Christ will be a son of a virgin. The Christ is a conqueror. The Christ will suffer. The Christ will resurrect from the dead. The only human being who can die and get up again.
[5:25] Hey, that's just your sin. No simple. He died. And not that he went to bed and couldn't wake up. They killed him. They killed him and there was death certificate.
[5:37] Then on the third day he got up and he was in the fridge. Freezer. He got up and the fridge opened and he came back. This is a very strange personality. He is the eternal one who has become manifested in the flesh.
[5:52] He is the only human being who is older than his mother. Yeah. Older than his mother and at the same time equal in age with his father. The Christ.
[6:03] He said, mystery figure. So when you talk about the Christ, you are talking about a human personality. So in Romans chapter 1 verse 2 and verse 3 particularly. But verse 2, verse 2 says that concerning, which is promising.
[6:18] Let's go to verse 3. The only scripture. Concerning his son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David. That Christ must definitely be of the seed of David. He must be of the seed of David.
[6:30] And yet he must be of the root of David. It's confusing. It's confusing. How can one person be the same person? It's kind of a contradiction.
[6:42] You are the fruit and at the same time the root. You can't be the two. The fruit is usually far from the root. And it's the root that makes sure the fruit will come.
[6:55] So the fruit is almost like an offshoot, offspring of the root. So he said, I am the alpha and the omega.
[7:06] Revelation 22 verse 16. Revelation 22 verse 16 says, I just said, I sent my angel to testify by my angel. To testify to you these things to the churches.
[7:17] I am the root and the offspring of David. How can you be the root and the offspring of David? So in Romans chapter 1 verse 3, it says, concerning Jesus Christ his son, our Lord, who was born of the seed of David, washed his in the flesh.
[7:33] Let's go to 22 verse 42. Let's see. When he says, the Bezeria, whose son is it? Matthew 22 verse 42 says, what do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?
[7:44] See, let's read it. Let's read it. Let's go. Say what do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he? One more time. Say what do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he? Uh-huh.
[7:55] The son of David. So he must be a physical. That Christ is supposed to be a physical person, a natural being. So when you say Christ, they're talking about his humanity.
[8:07] But he's a very unique human. Do you understand that? And so when he said, who do men say I am? And Peter said, you are the Christ. Talking about his humanity. And not only the Christ, but the son of the living God.
[8:21] Talking about his deity or another word to it, his divinity. The same thing. Deity. Deity means God. So Jesus had divinity.
[8:32] He had deity. He was deity in the flesh. Now, this is where all other religions go different from Christianity.
[8:45] Even the Christ, they don't mind. Whatever. So for Islam to say he's a prophet, it's almost like, well, Muhammad is a type of Christ. So, because he's a human being.
[8:56] But now when you change it and you take it further and they say he's divine, I mean, did you notice how Islam can take that? Jehovah's Witnesses can take that. Mormons can take that.
[9:08] All other religions can take that. What do you mean by Jesus is God? And then it brings, many people get confused. How can you, so you mean God died?
[9:19] So when God, when Jesus died, was God dead? How? It just, great is the mystery of godliness. God was manifested in the flesh. So now, when we talk about the person of Jesus, he's two niches in one person.
[9:35] Now, that is a very classic revelation every sound Christian must know about Jesus. He's one person. He is the second person of the Godhead or the Trinity.
[9:48] Second person. The Godhead is made up of three persons. God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. They are one. And Jesus is the second person of the Godhead. And that person, when he was on earth, he had two natures in one person.
[10:04] And the Trinity is three persons in one essence. So, Jesus Christ is one essence. Substance. Same. God. But one essence, but two.
[10:16] One person. One person, but two natures. So, he has the nature of God and nature man. Today, we keep saying five minutes, five minutes. In the five minutes, I want to just throw a little bit lighter.
[10:27] What are the scriptural substantiations to say Jesus is God? There are titles and names that were attributed to Jesus in scriptures that are supposed to only be God. For instance, he was called the Son of God 40 times in the scriptures.
[10:42] And what we say is the Son of God, you know, according to John chapter 5 verse 17. He said, My Father worketh, hither to I work. Verse 18. They said, they now want to kill him.
[10:53] Because not just that he broke the Saturday, but now he's calling himself. He called God, he called God his Father. Making himself. He didn't say God.
[11:04] Verse 17 said, My Father worketh, hither to I work. When he said that, they knew what he meant. That he's saying, it's God. John 10, 30.
[11:15] I and my Father are one. So, the scripture for Jesus to be called the Son of God, it is not just like the way you are the son of your Father.
[11:27] It means that the same substance with God. The same essence with God. And so, that is pointing to his deity. That's why Peter said, you are the Christ.
[11:40] The Son. You are the Christ. What? The Son of the living God. Which shows that he's deity. The Son of the living God. As I said, even in its five times in the New Testament, God, sorry, he's called the only begotten Son.
[11:58] One, he's the Son of God. Number two, he's also called the only begotten of the Father. For God so loved the world that he. Amen. In John chapter one, verse 18, no one has seen God at any time.
[12:11] But the monogamous, the only begotten of the Father, he has defied him. In John chapter three, verse 36, it talks about how he is the only begotten of the Father.
[12:24] He who abides in the Son, and he who does not believe in him, sorry, he who believes in the Son, sorry. Who does not believe in him, does not have life. John 1, 36. Let's look at John 1, 36.
[12:35] John 1, 36. That one is the one I'm looking for. Looking at Jesus, he said, behold, behold the Lamb of God. Verse 37. So, the other one, verse 37, okay, that's not the one.
[12:46] But I think the other one, verse 37, one of them talks about how Jesus is the Son of the only begotten of the Father. Okay. So, Scripture actually call him the only begotten of the Father.
[12:59] One, he's the Son of God. Two, he's the only begotten of the Father. That's very important. And these are terminologies, the titles, or names that are given to only God. Bible calls him Emmanuel.
[13:10] What does that mean? God. Excuse me. He shows up and he said, Emmanuel, that God is with us. No, no, that's pointing to his deity. Matthew chapter one, verse 23.
[13:21] Emmanuel is pointing to his deity that God is with us. Can you imagine? God. Um, Thomas calling my Lord and my God.
[13:32] What? John chapter 20, verse 28. So, he said, my Lord and my God. He's my God. Now, the word, there is a word in the Old Testament, I've told you before, which is the Hebrew is Adonai.
[13:49] It's the Lord. And usually when you read the Old Testament, you come across capital L, capital O, capital R, capital D. It is actually the actual name of the Lord, which in some translations translated Jehovah.
[14:02] Yahweh. Okay. And that Jesus used that title or that title was used for Jesus Christ. So, he actually is Lord. Jesus is the Lord, which points to his deity.

[14:52] A woman can never have this kind of beard. You understand what I'm saying? Yeah, so, and another silhouette, you can tell that, no, no, no. Okay, yeah, you are, your silhouette will be better.
[15:03] Can you imagine this side view and the beard? You know it's not a woman. It's not a woman. In the same way, when a woman's silhouette gets up, even the size of the body.
[15:14] What I'm trying to say is, I'm trying to use terminologies to express something that can come close to attributes. Attributes are special features that are very particular to an individual or a person or somebody.
[15:33] So, God has attributes. So, you can't see God by his attributes. Attributes. So, typical attributes of God is that God is all-powerful.
[15:47] There's no human being who is all-powerful. The Bible talks about Jesus Christ. He sustains all things by the word of his power. That must be God. Hebrews chapter 1, verse 3.
[15:57] Who sustains all things by the word of his power. Wow. Being the brightness, being the brightness of God's glory and the express image of his person, upholding all things by the word of Jesus.
[16:14] Look, there is omnipotence there. Omnipotence. All-powerful. He sustains all things. So, to say that Jesus is omnipotent, we are keep ascribing attributes of God to him.
[16:29] How about omniscience? He knows. In Matthew chapter 11, verse 27, he says that no one knows the Father but the Son, and no one knows the Son. He said, all things have been delivered to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father.
[16:45] Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son. And the one whom the Son will reveal. He knows. He knows. And Bible says that he knew which of them should betray him.
[16:59] He knew they were thinking. Bible says he knew what is in the heart of man. So he never committed, I think, chapter 2, something. He never committed himself to man. Because he knew, not just a person.
[17:10] He knew everybody, he knows. And it was David who says that, where can I go from your place? Wherever I go, you know me. Try my reins. Psalm 138, verse 24, 23. Say, try my reins.
[17:21] You know me. You know me indeed. It is God who knows you thoroughly, more than you know yourself. And Bible says, Jesus Christ said, I know man. Jesus knows what is in the heart of man.
[17:33] He's omniscient. He, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he. He's omnipotent. I mean, omniscient. And then he asked it by saying that Matthew chapter 18, where two or three are gathered in my name, I'm there.
[17:45] How can you be everywhere if you are not omnipresent? Where two or three are gathered? Say, for where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there in the name. He's omnipresent. He said, in fact, Matthew chapter 28, verse 18.
[17:59] He said, all power in heaven and in earth has been given to me. He said, therefore, go ye. He said, all authority is given to me in heaven and earth. The next, the next verse 19.
[18:10] Go ye therefore and make this. I like this one. Like, that's what church is about. Making of disciples. Making of disciples. It's not fundamentally about breakthroughs. It's about making of disciples.
[18:22] Those of you who are coming to look for husbands, please. It is about making of disciples. We won't give you some of our men. Because you are not a disciple. So, it says that disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son.
[18:38] Look at this 20. That's why I'm coming. It says that teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded. And no, I am with you always. Even to the end of the end. He is omnipotent.
[18:51] He's omnipotent. He's omniscient. And then, Bible says, he has eternality. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever.
[19:03] Now, that's God. Hebrews chapter 13, verse 8. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever. That's God. In the beginning was, oh my goodness, the Word.
[19:14] And the Word was with God. He had eternality. Before everything began, He existed. I tell you, this is a, we're talking about God. In Revelation chapter 1, verse 17, it says that, I am the Alpha and the Omega.
[19:27] Come on. Come on. And when I saw Him, I found the future. And He said, do not be afraid. I am the first and the last. That means there's nothing before me. And then the last, after me, there's nothing else.
[19:41] That's talking about deity. He said, I'm the beginning. I'm the first. There's nothing before me. Go first means that nothing. And then last means after that one.
[19:51] It has nothing. End of the matter. End of the matter. Yes. There are so many goals of my time. I have to end now because there must always be an end to something.
[20:04] Anything that begins must have an end. So every life that began, one day will have an end. Yeah.
[20:14] Let the Alpha and the Omega start your relationship for Him. Oh, yes. Yes. Let Him start your relationship for you. The Alpha and the Omega. He is the Alpha and the Finch of our faith.
[20:28] Let me add one more about Peter's preaching. In Acts chapter 3, verse 15, he calls Him the Holy One. That's deity.
[20:39] My goodness. Verse 14, but you denied the Holy One. Holy One. Holy. Hagios. Hagios One. Holy One.
[20:54] The Holy Spirit was from the Genesis. It's called the Spirit of God. Yeah. Old Testament. The Spirit of God. The Spirit of God. Holy Spirit was not an Old Testament word.
[21:08] It's actually introduced. There's only ones that was the word. The Spirit of Holiness was used. But Holy Spirit is a New Testament word. When it came to the arrival of Jesus, the Bible says the Holy Spirit came on Mary.
[21:21] Matthew chapter 1, she was conceived of the Holy Spirit. That's the first time the actual. So Holy Spirit. And then now is the Spirit of Christ who lives in you.
[21:33] Ooh. The same. The same. But over the dispensations, there are names that are useful. The Holy Spirit of God. The Spirit of Holiness. The Spirit of Christ.
[21:46] Romans 8, verse 9. If the Spirit of Christ dwelleth in you. 1 Peter chapter 1, verse 9, 10, 11. The Spirit of Christ which was prophesying in them.
[21:57] I can't wait to talk about the apostles' understanding of the Old Testament. Do you know how the New Jesus is the Messiah, the Christ?
[22:08] When they found out that he was the Christ, suddenly the Old Testament began to make sense. They needed the Old Testament to find him.
[22:22] So when they found him, suddenly the Old Testament began. That's when the Old Testament was opened. That's why Stephen could break the Old Testament like a rocket scientist.
[22:35] Because he knew Jesus. So if you want to find this church, you first of all have to go to the New Testament. When you find him, and you know how it looks like, go to, you will see he's everywhere. He's littered everywhere.
[22:47] He's littered. But if you don't go to New Testament, if you don't know Jesus, the Old Testament will not make sense to you. And so, in a nutshell, Jesus Christ, our Savior, he is God.
[22:58] Okay? He is God. And I just gave you one or two points about the names. Some of the, about 16 titles and names were used for him, which showed that he was God.
[23:10] And I just gave you a couple and a few. And then attributes. The attributes that showed that. The attributes that are only reserved to God.
[23:20] In fact, Ephesians chapter 1 verse 23, Paul says that he feels all in all. Who can this be? The one who feeleth all in all. Who feels?
[23:31] Okay, Kijos is better. Who feeleth? Wow. Feeleth. Thank you for listening to this message by David Entry. We pray you have been strengthened and enlightened.
