[0:13] May Jesus Christ reveal Himself to you as you listen. Ephesus. The letter to the Church of Ephesus. Chapter 4, verse 25.

[0:31] 24 says that, Let's all say, lie.

[0:49] Say, lie. Now, verse 25 starts with, Wherefore. So, 25 is action time.

[1:04] Action time. From 17 or 18, 17, 18 all the way to 24, it's telling us about the need for something to be done.

[1:21] What is required? And 25 to 32 tells us now. Action time. So, he said, Wherefore, on the basis of the fact that we are supposed to put on the old man.

[1:35] Alright, let's take it from verse 17 just to make some sense. I'm reading from the King James Version. It says that, This I say therefore and testify in the Lord, that he henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk in the vanity of their mind, having the understanding ducked, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their hearts.

[2:02] Who, being past feelings, have given themselves over unto lasciviousness to work all uncleanness with greediness.

[2:14] But ye have not. So, you see, from verse 17, he's talking about the state, he's telling you about the state of unbelievers. They are like this, they are learning. Then the verse 20 says that, But ye have not so learned Christ.

[2:25] If so be that ye have heard of him, and have been taught by him as the truth is in Jesus. That, see, he's telling us what you have been taught.

[2:38] That ye put off concerning the former conversation, the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lust, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind.

[2:49] And that ye put on the new man, the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and in true holiness. So, he's telling us about what we have learned from Christ.

[3:01] And this is what we have learned, that you do this, that. Then verse 25 says that, Wherefore? Do you understand that? Now it's action time. Am I communicating something clear?

[3:12] It says, Wherefore? Upon the basis of what we have been called into. The fact that we shouldn't walk like the Gentiles walk. I want to go back and paint the whole picture again.

[3:24] And I don't mean chapter 1, I mean verse 1 of chapter 4. Okay, so, it talks about, I therefore the prisoner of Christ. And I told you that it's about to talk about duty. It's about to talk about responsibility.

[3:36] I beseech you. I therefore the prisoner of Christ beseech you that you, you see, that is a behavior. That you walk, not as the Gentiles.

[3:49] That you walk worthy of the calling with which you have been called. Then, it tells us how we should do it. With all lowliness, gentleness, long-suffering, bearing one another in love.

[4:03] Endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. For there is one Lord, one hope, one faith, one Father, verse 6, one Father and God of always in all through all. And it's all.

[4:14] Verse 7, one of two, each one of us, grace is given according to the measure of the gift of God. Do you realize he hasn't told you what to do? It looks like that's where he started from.

[4:24] Verse 1, I beseech you that you walk. Walk worthy of your calling and make sure that you stay in love. Then he said, because there's one love, one God, endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit, one Lord, one baptism, one faith, one hope, one Lord and God.

[4:42] Back unto every one of us, grace is given according to the measure of the gift of Christ. For he says, when he ascended on high, he led captivity and gave gifts unto men.

[4:57] Then the parentheses come. I've covered all that. So let's jump. To some he gave apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers for the equipping of the sin. He hasn't told you what to do. He's just telling you another fact.

[5:09] He's not pulling. Paul had so much that when he was about to tell you what to do, he goes back again to tell you the state of affairs. He gave for the equipping of the saints, for the building of the ministry.

[5:22] That we henceforth no longer be, until we all come to the unity of the faith, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. Verse 14, that we henceforth not taught through and through like children by every word of doctrine and by the deceitful, by the trick, by the trickery of men, cunning, crafting and whoever.

[5:42] Then he goes, but to be the truth in love, we may all grow up into him. So he's telling us that with what things are. Verse 16, talking about when we grew up to him. You remember, we grew up into him.

[5:53] Then from him, the body is built. And he said, that you henceforth walk. Watch verse 17. This I say therefore and testify that you should no longer walk. Remember verse 1?

[6:04] He spoke about walk. Now, he spoke about how the church is meant to be built by apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastor, teacher. And the gifts or grace is given to you based on that.

[6:16] That would have been given for the equipping. It didn't say they've been given for the distribution of grace. You see that? Apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastor, teacher, that's not given for distribution of grace, but it's given for the, verse 12, for the edifying of the body of Christ.

[6:32] For the edifying of the body, for the equipping of the saints, for the ministry, for the work of the ministry, for the everything. That's what they've been given for. So why is this said in verse 7 that grace is given to us based on the gifts?

[6:45] Because it takes grace for you to build. This is a grace to build the body of Christ. But then after I spoke about, so we all come to, the body is built, we can all come to the unity and the body edifies itself in love.

[6:57] Then he says, I testify that you should no longer walk as the Gentiles walk. Then it starts again, another fact. That the Gentiles walk in the futility of their minds. Their understanding is darkened.

[7:09] They are aliens from the life of God. They don't know God. They live in the lust. They live in lust and they carry their lives the way they want in the ignorance, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart.

[7:22] Then it says that who being in past feeling have given themselves over to lewdness to work, give us verse 19 in a message or New Living Translation.

[7:34] They have no sense of shame. They live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of impurity. If you have been to Abiva before or Ayanape, the party cities.

[7:47] Sometimes people are not ashamed at all. And sometimes, you know, some of the, even when you watch YouTube and some of the places, people are wearing all kinds of things.

[7:59] Tongue beginnings. And they are showing online. And they don't have a sense of shame. But, did you think everybody arrived at the same time? No, we have people coming. But Jesus doesn't have a problem with where you are coming from.

[8:12] It's where you are going that you are coming from. That's why we are in church. It's about where you are going. No, anyone can come from anywhere. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. We don't have shame from where we are coming from, as long as we have Christ.

[8:25] If I say, blessed are the poor in spirit, for they shall see God. You have, don't come like you have arrived. Yeah. What you used to be before you arrived in Christ is not a problem. But when you are in Christ, you.

[8:39] I'm talking to you. Tell somebody, did you know it? Did you first know you are here? So, Apostle Paul, or the scriptures, is telling us about how unbelievers and Gentiles, they lack the life of God, and so they practice sin without restriction and shame.

[9:08] They practice it without shame. Verse 19 again, it says that, how does the message Bible put it? They can't think straight anymore.

[9:19] Feeling no pain. They let themselves go in sexual obsession. Addicted to every sort of perversion. Addicted. You should be thankful God has saved you. Thank you. Yes. go in sexual obsession addicted to every sort of perversion addicted you should be thankful God has saved you because the way you were smoking weed that's where you are going yes the way you've been drinking alcohol so that is human behavior it doesn't make a person a devil by makes it's obvious when you don't know Christ that's the direction you can easily go depending on your friends your exposure your background your family some of us is our family that's how everybody does yeah because if you are not in Christ now that you are you've gone past 18 by now you have already two children because it's the order for your oh come on the order it's not that they are bad people but that's what they do and it's okay it's okay but when you come into Christ the story changes so let's go back to the text again the the lifestyle of the unbelievers verse 19 says that they do all that there verse 20 let's but that isn't what you learned about Christ next verse since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that come that comes from him see when you know the truth some things you suddenly realize how stupid could I have been I'm saying sometimes the way you you present yourself it's a reflection of a certain character you have you can be a top government official representing the government somewhere and dress like a rap artist no you can't do that even when the footballers recently I found out when the footballers are coming today to come and play from there they wear suits I think I was shocked and I saw some officials are they're all in suits at the stadium there's appropriate way to dress for a certain location that is why we do suits here now watch this it doesn't mean it makes you a better Christian but the kind of people we are we used to be we were only track suits and trainers but you know so some of you are you must take the game when it comes to track suit and trainers you can throw your track suit and stand in any way because you are good at it is there anything wrong with it no no no no no but life is not only about that they are especially the bigger platforms doesn't require that and so that's why we are intentional that you see a young man like this in three piece three piece and a shoe the point I'm trying to make is God has brought many of us from very far sometimes people may not understand okay it doesn't mean that when you have a particular hairstyle it's a reflection of where you are going or it's a reflection of who you are it's your style it's fine your outward appearance what you wear is not a reflection of your inner man but most of the time the society we grow up in has a way of pushing you in a certain way by forcing you or making you unconsciously present yourself in a way that might not be compatible for your destiny and so sometimes we have to encourage some of particularly some of the people from underprivileged backgrounds your background has conditioned you in a way you don't realize that it's going to block you from having access into some things let's go 20 21 you have not so learned christ if indeed you
