Put Off The Old Man

Thus I say therefore and testify in the Lord that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk in the vanity of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them because of the blindness of their hearts.

[0:43] Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness to work all uncleanliness with greediness. But ye have not so learned Christ.

[0:55] If so be that ye have heard and have been taught by him as the truth is in Jesus. That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man which is corrupt according to the deceitful lust and be renewed in the spirit of your mind.

[1:55] Then after describing the state of the unbelievers he comes to us. Verse 20 says that but ye. Let's all say but ye.

[2:05] But ye. Have not so. That's not how you learn Christ. So. That statement. As used that.

[2:18] You have learned Christ. It said but you have not so learned Christ. It didn't say but you are not going to. But you haven't. That's not what you learned. So when you are in Christ.

[2:31] What you learn is what you do. When you come to Christ. You will learn. And it says that. The way the worldly people live.

[2:41] Those who are Christless. There's a way they live. Which we are not supposed to live. Because we have not learned. So learned Christ. So he said but ye have not so.

[2:53] Learned Christ. When you become born again. You learn Christ. Christ becomes your example. Christ becomes your topic. Christ becomes your focus.

[3:05] Not what other Christians are doing. Not what other Christians are saying. But Christ becomes your focus. And your studies.

[3:17] So he said. You learn Christ. Look at the next verse. If so be that ye have heard him. We preach. But for the preaching.

[3:29] For the preaching to work in your life. You have to hear Christ in the preaching. So the preaching that produces godly learning.

[3:42] Is the preaching that. Through which people hear Christ. I didn't say hear about Christ. So that I am speaking.

[3:52] As I told you. The preacher's job. Is to get the word from his mouth to your ears. The Holy Spirit's job. Is to get it from your ears to your heart.

[4:04] That is when you have heard Christ. So once he enters your heart. To produce godly results. It is the work of Christ. Christ.

[4:14] Is called. The work of grace. Or means of grace. Part of the workings of grace. Is that. You hear Christ.

[4:26] As preaching goes on. And that's where convictions happen. So people can be hearing the same thing. One hears Christ. The other one didn't hear Christ. One hears Christ.

[4:38] The other one just learns a new term. He learns. Proposition. Proposition. I learned. But I didn't hear Christ. Wow. He learns. It is a blessing to give.

[4:50] But I didn't hear Christ. He learns. When you learn. You can. You can. You can practice it. To produce godly results. But when you hear Christ.

[5:02] It comes with. An ability to practice. Even when things are dry. Because hearing. Christ. When you hear Christ. Christ.

[5:12] Is not. So much. About. An intellectual. Exercise. But it's. A matter of life. Impartation of. It's organic. Something.

[5:24] That is about. That is. Life producing. Life generating. Has been imparted. Into you. That's how pregnancy. Takes place. Okay. Something.

[5:36] Something from him. Has fertilized. Something in you. Pregnancy happens. When the person's DNA. Has. Mingled.

[5:46] With your DNA. To produce. Something. That you couldn't have produced. By yourself. When the word of God. That's why the word of God.

[5:57] Is a sperma. You hear from God. And it's not a matter of. Just physical hearing. And it's not as a matter of. Intellectual exercise.

[6:08] It is something so. Deeply spiritual. That. Words. Enough words. Cannot express. Or explain it. That's why. When it's time for hearing.

[6:18] To hear God's word. Number one. Is you have to be careful. Who teaches you. Girl's word. And number two. You have to be careful. How you hear God's word. He says. Take heed.

[6:31] How. You hear. I think Matthew 22. 29. Say take heed. What you hear. Then. So there's a place. Jesus told them. Beware. Or take heed. What you hear. And there's another place.

[6:41] He told them. So this. The Luke 8. 18. Says that. Therefore. Take heed. How. You hear. For whoever has. To him. More will be given. And who.

[6:53] Whoever. Does not have. Even what. He seems to have. Will be taken. Tell me. Human right. See. The work.

[7:03] This is what. Work would do to you. That. How can. He didn't have. And he has already. You are adding to him. That's how God works. And that's how life works.

[7:14] Listen. He said. First of all. Permit me to comment on this. Therefore. Take heed. He is not saying. I am going to take heed for you. Your input.

[7:25] Will determine. The outcome of your life. That Christianity. That doesn't make you responsible. For your behavior. It's not Christianity. It's not godliness. God. God doesn't do things.

[7:35] For people. When it comes to. Actions. God. Will not do it for you. He will instruct you. To do it. But the good thing. Is he doesn't leave you. To do it alone.

[7:47] When the word of God. Comes from. To you. A word. Comes from God. To you. The word. Is loaded. With the energy. Of God. If it's. If it's.

[7:58] It's a word from God. If you learn from Christ. It comes with. An additional ability. That's why. In your Christian life. It doesn't start. With copying.

[8:52] Because this is a seed from God. It's a seed from God. That's how it happens. God. And I. We can change the world. From fellowship.

[9:04] To partnership. God. God. God. Always. Works. With. Man. On earth. So. Bishop says some strong.

[9:16] Prophetic words. God is raising people. Seriously. It's not about me. I'll be very naive. To think this is about me.

[9:27] No. This whole thing is about. A move in this generation. There are some. Who will be like Stephen. They'll find themselves. Somewhere. Of Philip. They'll find themselves.

[9:38] And change your whole city. I'm telling you. Mark my way. Listen. If God is in this. Then we cannot define the outcome. Or how far it can go.

[9:49] We can't put limits on. How far this can go. If God is in this thing. It's. It's extent. Defies boundaries. Defies borders. Defies human calculations.

[10:00] You can't predict it. How did Stephen Philip find himself in Samaria? He was just going entire Samaria. And little little villages. They were all changed. There's a move of God here.

[10:25] Amen. That is the only thing that can preserve. The scriptures are a preservative. For every move of God. The scripture in your life.

[10:36] Is what can preserve your journey in Christ. The purity of your ministry can be preserved. By how scriptural your life is.

[10:46] Or the amount of pure scripture that keeps flowing towards you. It's like salt. It preserves your work with God. Haven't you seen that not reading your Bible is hurting you?

[10:57] You think you can overcome pornography by yourself. You are joking. You think you can stop or I will stop. You are lying. You can't stop it.

[11:09] Your intentions are to stop it. But you don't have what it takes to stop it. When you are born again. Your flesh. Is still there. Yes. So there are things that naturally you can't overcome.

[11:22] Yes. And there are things that will never leave you. Some tastes will never leave you till you die. Don't come to a stage where your humanity is vanished.

[11:33] Your human feelings are vanished. And so the things that God said we should do. And yet you don't have what it takes inside you to do. You can still do it.

[11:44] Because when God said do it. When you hear from Christ. And you learn from Christ. It comes with a donation. It comes with grants. A grant. He grants you an ability.

[11:54] He grants you the life it takes. The life it takes. Naturally there are some things that are not in your ability readily. But you have to.

[12:05] So anytime God speaks to you about something. He gives you the life support. There is the life of. You do some. You see me doing some things.

[12:16] I'm doing it based on the life of God in me. I am depending and leaning on that life. That is what differentiates a Christian behavior from a normal behavior.

[12:31] Because most of us you are Christians. But much of your behavior is a normal behavior. It's polished behavior. Because naturally even if you are not born again. You won't do it. Some of you before you became born again.

[12:42] You have been virgin throughout your life. You are now a 27 year old man. But you are still a virgin. Meanwhile you became born again two years ago. Some of you are ladies who are virgins.

[12:55] You finish uni. Meanwhile all your friends are wild people. But you are virgin because some things you will never do. When I wasn't born again I never had the chance to smoke or do weed.

[13:07] No, no, no, no, no, no. Even when I was not born again there are a lot of things I won't do. So me not smoking weed is not because Holy Ghost, because I'm so empowered.

[13:18] It's natural for me. It's natural for me. Do you understand what I'm saying? But there are some things that might not be natural. That if I wasn't in Christ I would just be doing it so much.

[13:31] But because I'm in Christ it's not just legalistic. It's not a legal requirement that I won't do because it's legalistic. But it's liberty. I have the liberty in Christ to walk away from it.

[13:45] I have the liberty. Why? Because the life. The life of Christ. He who the said, Kedah Baba, is free. I am free not to sin. I have all this body of death, all this body of sin who will deliver me.

[14:01] When you have Christ, the life of Christ in you sets you free. Oh, hallelujah. As I'm preaching I see somebody receiving the life of Christ.

[14:16] I see somebody receiving the life of Christ. I see somebody receiving the life of Christ. In the name of Jesus. He said the spirit, and take me.

[14:30] One spirit. It's the spirit. We live from our spirit. The source of our strength is from our spirit. It's he who is joined to the Lord.

[14:41] It's one spirit. This Christian life is a spirit, Holy Ghost based life. They try to copy us, but they don't survive.

[14:54] They might be able to do it for a while, but we do it permanently. We thrive. Why? Because we have a life in us. When we learn of Christ, it comes with, you know, when you buy microwave, it comes with the covering.

[15:13] What's it called? Polystyrene. Yeah. It comes with all that. When you take your microwave, now you have to do something with that thing. Some of you have boxes. Cartons.

[15:24] You bought something, it came with the whole box. Not the Amazon week box. You know, some boxes are so strong. You feel, no, this is big.

[15:35] I can put some stuff in. And some of my friends ask you, I also want the box. I didn't buy the box. I wasn't going to buy a box. I bought an item, and it came with a box. But the box is so useful.

[15:46] In the same way, when you hear the voice of God, it comes with the life of God to help you. You have not so learned of Christ if indeed you have heard him and have been taught by him as the truth is in Jesus.

[16:08] The reality. The reality. I feel sorry for people who are knowing Christ. No. Listen, don't envy an unbeliever. If there's anyone to envy, people like us.

[16:21] You should be envying people like us. Who have the life of Christ, and have lived the life of Christ, and is producing results in human lives. Since I go born again, I've always, my celebrities, my role models have been people in frontline ministry.

[16:39] And look at me today. The things you are celebrating is what you are trying. The devil doesn't want you to be a great woman of God, great man of God, great in God.

[16:49] That is why he surrounded you with people who distract you from celebrating people who are where you want to be. Who in your family has gotten to?

[17:01] Where are some of us? Impacting lives. This is something that you have to desire. Desire. And so that any negative story, someone's saying something negative about someone you desire.

[17:13] I don't want to know. I don't want to know. I don't care. I'm looking for that grace that the person carries. Yeah. I feel always, and up to now, I still admire.

[17:25] So, there are things you must give yourself to. Give yourself to admiring the beauty of preachers. Give yourself to committing to serving others in church, and not caroling with people in church.

[17:41] If you find yourself caroling with people in church, you are backslided. Yes. And you have lost your placement. Spiritually.

[17:53] Bishop said something last Friday. God is the only one who can fire you and still keep you on the job. You are fired, but he still lets you do the job.

[18:03] You are still working, but you don't know you are fired. Saul. He fired Saul, and David was coming to replace him, but Saul was still on the throne. But he's already gone. He was gone. Let's get into the text again.

[18:20] If the truth, he said, as the truth is in Jesus. Shall we all say that together? As the truth is in Jesus. Say, the truth is in Jesus. The truth is in Jesus.

[18:30] Say it louder. The truth is in Jesus. So, it doesn't matter what people are saying. No matter. Bible says that. God gave them up to believe.

[18:40] Romans chapter 1. They believed a lie. Can you imagine? Believing a lie. Nothing is a lie, but you believe it. You believe it. That means the more you are, the deeper you are in Christ, the better you know the truth.

[18:57] Do you understand why people will say they are atheists? Do you understand why it looks more fashionable to be other religions apart from proper Christianity in the UK? Because we've turned our backs against God.

[19:10] And because the truth is in Christ. That's why all people, all kinds of people who have funny lifestyle, they say the church hates them. Meanwhile, the church is very accommodating. But just that because we can't change our doctrine.

[19:23] We didn't start the doctrine. The doctrine is from God. God gave it to us. They say change it. We can't change it. They say you are bigots. You are full of hatred. No, we are not hate. If people are hateful, it's the other religion.

[19:34] But because Christianity is so soft and accommodating. Say anything, you are full of hate. It's not. They know we are decent. They know we are gentle. But it's our message.

[19:47] The truth is in Christ. And if Satan is in your heart, you won't like Christians. Yes. Hatred for Christianity is reflections of demonic possession.

[20:01] It's clear reflection of demonic possession. Sometimes when people are behaving, just notice that, okay, I know what's going on. Don't be personal. Don't take it personal. There's something going on.

[20:13] You know something's going on. There's a demonic reaction. Yeah. Don't tell them. But you should know. Yeah. You should know. Let's all say the truth is in Jesus.

[20:26] Say it again. The truth is in Jesus. Now, this leads me to my main message. The truth is in Jesus. And what do you have there? Nothing. So it says that, verse 20.

[20:38] But you have not so learned Christ, comma. He hasn't finished what he's saying. If indeed you have heard him and have been taught by him, comma, as the truth is in Jesus.

[20:50] Then, colon. Now, I'm about to list. When he says that, that is trying to tell us, these are the things we have learned in Jesus. It's list. It's list. You have not so learned Christ.

[21:01] Then, this is what you have learned. Verse 22 and verse 24 is giving us a list of, so it says that, that's if you are not so learned, that you put off.

[21:11] As soon as you become born again, and if you have heard Christ, it tells you, you know, that there's something to put off. How many of you, since you became born again, the very day you became born again, you put something off?

[21:27] Anyone who has not put anything off, I don't think you are born again. It comes natural of being born again. In fact, the day you came to the front and said, I want to give my life to Jesus. You had that in mind.

[21:38] That as I'm coming, I have to put this off. Am I preaching at all? You always, in fact, moving towards Christ means that putting off something. So it's that, that you put off.

[21:53] Concerning your former conduct. Former, former, your ex conduct. How come you are born again and you don't have a former conduct?

[22:06] You don't have a former conduct. You have a continual conduct. You are fake.

[22:19] You are fake. If you claim to be in Christ and you don't have a former conduct. You used to steal. You have to be able to say, I used to.

[22:33] You have to be able to say, I used to smoke. I used to sleep with girls. I used to sleep with boys. Including uncles.

[22:50] Yeah. Uncles like you. I used to lie.

[23:00] I used to lie a lot. I used to lie. I used to do this. Former conduct. That's what the verse 17 was touching on. The verse 17 said, this I said, therefore, and testifying the Lord, that you should no longer walk.

[23:15] So you can be born again and still be walking in a certain way. But I'm testifying. That you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk in their futility.

[23:27] Their minds are futile. But your mind is not supposed to be futile. So your punishment and judgment will be severer. Oh, wow. They are using futile minds. And that's the natural results.

[23:39] The automatic logical results. The default results. When your mind is futile, you will do all kinds of things. But when you come to Christ, your mind has been touched.

[23:50] So it says that, verse 22 again, that you put off concerning your former conduct, the old man.

[24:00] Somebody say the old man. The old man. Say the old man. The old man. The old man here is not talking about some elderly man. And it's not gender sensitive.

[24:14] This is where you can put aside gender. Here. This one. There are a lot of phrases and terminologies in scripture that don't consider gender.

[24:28] It says that the old man. Say the old man. The old man. Tell somebody the old man is gender neutral. The old man is gender neutral. Yes. So. So. That means it applies to both.

[24:42] But why doesn't the Bible do it the old man and old woman? It's not necessary. We don't have enough space. If. If. Because of that you won't read it.

[24:53] You are not born again. Because when you are born again, a lot of things. You should have requested for us to change United Kingdom to United King and Queendom. Yes.

[25:06] But you are not making noise about that. You are not. You are not. You are not. Go to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and tell them to change the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Even here we won't do it.

[25:19] Because it's madness. But I tell you, the way, the trajectory we are on, very soon, they say, we should change it to Xdom. United Xdom.

[25:31] That's why I was trying to address this to my daughter. Blowing, overblowing and overstretching what is not necessary. It's so beautiful to be a woman.

[25:56] There's a godly role for a male. Everybody has got an old man. The old man is you before Christ. Yeah. So the old man is the BC life before Christ.

[26:09] Before Christ. And as soon as you come to Christ, you have to change your wardrobe. Sometimes change your friends.

[26:22] Change your definition of entertainment. I feel like preaching. Change it. Change it. Else, these prophecies we are hearing, God will use some people. It will never be you.

[26:35] It will never be you. Because God can use anybody, but he doesn't use everybody. God will not use everybody. In spite of what he are doing, God will use you. You are joking. You better fight now.

[27:20] Fight it. Fight to be first in church. Fight to stay in the choir. Fight to stay in the ashes. Fight to serve in church.

[27:31] Fight to still do. Listen. Listen. Serving in church is helping you more than helping the church. In spite of the feelings, I'll still serve God.

[27:44] Even when life is difficult, service has a way of making life meaningful. Because the quality of life is not in its duration, but its donation.

[27:56] We make a living by what you get. You make life by what you give. The more you give, the more fulfilled you are. Those of you who don't serve, you don't serve anybody.

[28:09] You expect to benefit from life. Life gives you money and benefits and greatness based on what you offer to life. Not what you are taking out of life. In the same way, when you find yourself in church, find a way to serve.

[28:24] It will help you to stabilize. But, Pastor, I'm serving and my spiritual life is still bad. It will be worse if you stop serving. It will be worse even if your servant is like this.

[28:37] Imagine if you are not serving. Imagine if you are not serving. Keep serving. Don't compare yourself to others. Compare yourself to Christ. Keep serving.

[28:49] Put out the old man. Put out the old man. Put out the old man. Put him off. Put him off. How do you put him off? By crucifying.

[29:00] First of all, you come to Christ. You crucify. Romans 6.6. Romans 6.6. Look at Romans 6.6. I'm ending now. I'm ending now. Knowing this. That the old.

[29:11] Oh, old man is there. That the old man was crucified with Christ. Why? So that the body of sin might be done away with.

[29:21] That we should no longer live as slaves. You have to crucify with Christ when you come into Christ. It's a form of circumcision. That is why in New Testament, we don't circumcise physically.

[29:32] The circumcision God requires is internal circumcision, which is put you off the old man. Colossians chapter 2 verse 11. In him, you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without him.

[29:44] By the putting off of the body of sin. Of the body of sins of the flesh. By the circumcision of Christ. So when you put off the old man, it's a form of circumcision.

[29:58] You are circumcised. Circumcised. Colossians chapter 3 verse 8. Look at verse 8. It says that, But now, you yourself are to put, God won't do it for you.

[30:15] You yourself take responsibility. Because the word that you have heard from Jesus has given you ability. It comes with energy. It comes with empowerment.

[30:27] It comes with an enablement. So use yourself. He said, but now you yourself are to put off all this. Anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

[30:41] That's the end. Look at the next verse 9. Do not lie to one another. Since you have put off the old man with his deeds. Put on the old man.

[30:53] You can't continue saying some things. You can't continue some things. If you fall into it. Get up. Since you became born again. Every now and then. You go and watch pornography.

[31:04] Stop it. Don't say I've fallen. So I can't do it. No, it's okay. You've watched enough. Now get up. Stop it. Close their sights. Close their sights.

[31:15] And move on with your life. Come to church. Don't say, I want you one photograph. I did it right. Hey, don't do that. Come to church. Come to church. And they tell me I'm not going back again. Pastor, keep telling me I'm not going back.

[31:26] Keep going. I'll show you how to stay away from it. But for now, come to church. Because the more you hear the word of God. The more the life of God is being injected in you. Injected in you.

[31:37] Those of you who have fornicated after you became born again. That's not the end of your spiritual life. Unless you are fake. Unless you are hypocrite. But if you know you are not a hypocrite.

[31:49] And you're fornicated. Come back to church. And do something about what is bringing the fornication. Put away that woman. Put away that man. Put off the old man. Put it off.

[33:22] There are some people when you begin to make friends with them and you start falling you fall freely. Others there's no way you can fall. There's no way you can fall. There's no way you can fall. They will stand with you.

[33:33] They will help you to see the way out. They will help you to make something good out of the mess the devil is putting you in. Because of your friends you can't go down. Some of you the reason why you can't stop what you are trying to stop is because one you are not taking in the word of God.

[33:49] You are not listening to preaching. And if you are preaching if you are listening to preaching you are not reading your own Bible. You are not reading your Bible. So you are spiritually malnourished. And you are trying to fight this spiritual battle in the arm of the flesh.

[34:02] You can't win. You can't win. Feed your spirit man. Get the word. And then get a strong team of people you serve God with. It said 2 Timothy 2 verse 22.

[34:13] 2-2-2-2. Okay. 2-2-22. It said flee also youthful love and pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with. You can't do it alone.

[34:23] You need some people. You need some people to do it with them. And you have to be particular who you are pursuing God with. So do it with those who call on the name of the Lord out of a picture.

[34:35] Those are people you should know. Look for them. Serve God with them. Make them your allies. That's the only way you can successfully put off the old man.

[34:46] Next week I'm going to go and put on the new man. Put on the new man. Before you put on the new man, you have to put off the old man.

[34:57] Lastly, let me add to this. When he said put on the old man, he's talking about it's like strip off. You have to take it. It's like clothes. Take, take, take.

[35:08] You know, some clothes. See the way I'm taking my jacket. I normally take my jacket like this and I pull it out because I don't want. But when it comes to dealing with the old man, don't be gentle. Just remove it.

[35:19] Remove it. Remove it somewhere. That's how you get rid of the old man. It must be an aggressive attempt. Because the younger you are, the more Satan will target you.

[35:30] Because if he can contaminate you early, your spiritual destiny has been capped. Yeah. Because now that you are born again, how you are living your born again life now will determine how God can use you in there.

[36:07] I'm not taking care of any church. All I, me and God and serving church. Me and God and, I was, I didn't have administrative responsibilities. All I had was educational responsibilities. I didn't have to put food on the table.

[36:19] A lot of things, I didn't care about it. All I cared was, how I'll serve God and just be a responsible adult. How I'll serve God. And so, I was able to accommodate a lot, assimilate a lot.

[36:30] And they are still in my system up to now. It's still in my system. Because the word of God cannot be corrupted. Once he entered your system, it's incorruptible. It can stay for life.
