[0:00] Hallelujah! We thank God you've tuned into this message by David Entry at Caris Church. No hand can help you with the fulfillment of your destiny but the Word of God.

[0:11] May God's hand align you further into your destiny through this word. Hebrews 13 verse 4, Marriage is honorable in all and the bed undefiled.

[0:23] But all mongers and adulterers God will judge. Let your conversation be without covetousness and be content with such things as ye have.

[0:36] For he has said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee, so that we may boldly say that the Lord is my helper and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

[0:54] Now, today's reading. Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the Word of God, whose faith follow considering the end of their conversation.

[1:12] Jesus Christ, the same yesterday and today and forever. Verse 9, Be not carried about with diverse and strange doctrines.

[1:24] For it is, it's a good thing that the heart be established with grace, not with meat, which have not profited that have been occupied during year and during the young God's Word.

[1:41] Amen. The text speaks about we have to be mindful and respect marriage and be mindful about adultery.

[1:52] And then it says that we should not let our lives be with covetousness. So our lives should be without covetousness. Don't target what others have. Thinking that no, I deserve it more or I must also have it.

[2:06] Somebody's wedding shouldn't determine how your wedding should be. So, it said covetousness. Why?

[2:17] God has said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, the Lord is my helper.

[2:28] Somebody say, the Lord is my helper. The Lord is my helper. I will not fear what man shall do unto me. Amen. So, you see, it sets the platform that God, because God helps me, no problem.

[2:42] I won't let covetousness and what I don't have be so much a worry and a border because God will care, provide for me. All right.

[2:53] So, he can tell there might be a prevailing situation and he's trying to lift us from that situation to trust in the providence of God. So, whatever the situation, whatever situation we might find ourselves in, we should look up and we should look forward.

[3:09] Look up to him and forward because conditions will not always be as it is. So, he said, then he goes on to interject with something very interesting. He says that, remember, say remember, verse 7.

[3:22] Remember those, them which have the rule over you. Talking about church leadership, people, not just church leaders, spiritual leaders. They have rule over you.

[3:33] He said, remember them. In what way? He says that, remember them who have spoken unto you the word of God, whose faith you should follow considering the end of their conversation. So, it talks about how there are people, you cannot be a Christian without having someone speaking the word of God to you.

[3:51] So, wherever you are in your spiritual journey, if it's a healthy thing, it's as a matter or as a result of somebody who introduced the word of God to you or spoke the word of God to you.

[4:03] No one can ever know God unilaterally. And no one can ever discover God for himself entirely, comprehensively and conclusively just by reading the scripture.

[4:14] The scriptures tell us a lot about God revealed to us about, revealed God to us, help us to understand God. But understand that word that read it. They didn't continue just in the scripture.

[4:27] They continued in the apostles' doctrine. That means that whatever we continue, it must be coming from some people. The words that I commit to you, St. Timothy, 2 Timothy 1, verse 2, that the same thing you have heard from me, the same commit to faithful men who teach others.

[4:46] And so, we pass on the message. So, you cannot be an effective Christian outside of effective teaching. Then the verse 8 is a very interesting text.

[5:01] That's already a lot. Let's go. Jesus Christ has saved yesterday and today and forever Jesus Christ has saved yesterday and today and forever Can I have the ladies to read it please. Ladies, let's go please.

[5:15] Jesus Christ has saved yesterday and today and forever Can I have the gentleman read it. Let's go Jesus Christ has saved yesterday and today and forever All of us, let's go for the last time.

[5:27] Jesus Christ has saved yesterday and today and forever to the verse 9. The verse 9 says that don't be carried away with diverse and strange doctrines.

[5:39] Don't be carried away with strange doctrines. You know, sometimes teachers, preachers might be inconsistent over a period of time because sometimes if I stop feeding and I stop receiving nourishment and teaching and studying and just all what I've learned is what I'm running with is what I've learned in the past and I keep teaching I may start churning out some things.

[6:09] So I will become inconsistent to the message. So their faith follow. There is a message that is responsible for a state you are in Christianity.

[6:22] That message, the messengers might be inconsistent but the message about Christ is the same. So when you look at the verse 8, it seems to stand tall between verse 7 and verse 9.

[6:38] It looks like it's a foundation. So that it all that verse 7 becomes a foundation for verse 8 and then verse 8 becomes a guide against verse 9.

[6:52] So it's either verse 8 is holding verse 7 and verse 9 to be able to clearly bring safeguarding or verse 7 is the platform for verse 8 and verse 8 is the protection for verse 9.

[7:08] But the key point of that scripture, verse 8 doesn't need explanation. Verse 8 is such a text that you can take it and you don't need anyone to interpret it.

[7:20] It's self-explanatory. You don't need exegesis to understand verse 8. Verse 8 speaks for himself. Verse 8 doesn't need a mediator. Verse 8 doesn't need a helper.

[7:33] Verse 8 doesn't need an interpreter. Verse 8 just interprets itself. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever. This text Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever can be left by himself and there are no ambiguity about it.

[7:49] Now, that very text verse 8 seems to be the highest point of the book of Hebrews. The highest point.

[8:00] That verse 8. Jesus. Let's all read it a lot again. Let's go. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever. The original Greek sounds something like this.

[8:14] Jesus Christ the same. So, it doesn't make grammatical sense, but it makes theological depths. Jesus Christ the same.

[8:27] Let's all say Jesus Christ the same. Jesus Christ the same. There is nobody like Jesus. Let's all say Jesus Christ the same. Jesus Christ the same.

[8:39] Sometimes, a church, the pastor can change. Oh, somebody is almost, it looks like somebody is getting where I'm coming from.

[8:50] You can have a change of pastor, but not a change of savior. Why? Jesus Christ the same.

[9:02] Jesus Christ the same. That's why I said sometimes, the messengers can be inconsistent.

[9:15] Worriedly inconsistent, but the message is gloriously monotonous. The message is the same. So, he says, just in case, you are following teachings that have brought you closer to Christ to appreciate the pure gospel, stick with Christ.

[9:37] Stick with Christ, because he's the only one who is the unchanging changer. He is the constant. The constant of proportionality.

[9:50] This just doesn't change. Now, watch this. So, when we say, looking at the text, let's look at the text again. Let's go. read it out. Let's go. Jesus Christ is the Savior, Savior, Savior, Savior, Savior, and forever.

[10:05] Let me talk about Jesus Christ. In the book of Hebrews, there are only three instances where the term Jesus Christ was used. Sometimes it's Jesus, sometimes it's Christ, but only three places.

[10:18] This is one of the places where it's used, and this place is pointing to Jesus Christ who sustains us. The other place is in Hebrews 10, verse 10, Jesus Christ who saves us.

[10:31] And the other place is Hebrews chapter 13, verse 21, Jesus Christ who strengthens us. He sustains, He saves, He strengthens us. Now, coming back to that term, Jesus Christ, anytime you see the word Jesus Christ, I've taught you already that Christ is not His surname.

[10:50] Okay. Christ is not His surname. Christ is His office. It's His office. So the Bible says that Jesus Christ, who are we talking about?

[11:01] Jesus Christ. What about Jesus? Jesus is His human name. He wasn't the only one called Jesus. The Hebrew, original Hebrew is Yeshua, which is also translated as Joshua.

[11:13] Joshua. So Jesus Christ, Joshua. There are a lot of people called Jesus in the days of Jesus Christ. There are a lot of people called Jesus because Jesus is a normal Jewish name.

[11:24] And it's actually when you call your child Jesus, which means Jehovah saves. So when a Hebrew parent, a Jewish parent calls their child Jesus, what they are saying is that there is a statement of faith knowing that there's salvation in Jehovah.

[11:42] So every time they call a child Jesus, they mean there is a statement of faith pointing to the fact that there is salvation in God, in Jehovah God. Then in Matthew chapter 1 verse 21, the angel said that his name, the angel says that he shall bring for and he shall call his name Jesus.

[12:04] That's just like everybody. But the difference between this Jesus and the other Jesus that this Jesus, he is the Jehovah who saves himself. The other Jesus is pointing to Jehovah who saves.

[12:15] This Jesus is pointing to Jehovah. This is the Jehovah that's our salvation. Jesus is Jehovah our salvation. So anytime you come across the name Jesus, you are talking about a human being, a historic figure.

[12:28] It's a historic figure. It's a human name. That name Jesus connotes the one who we all can identify with. The one who was like us.

[12:41] But he was like us in every way except the fact that he was without sin. And that's why he died and resurrected. You're talking about the Jesus, the normal Jesus who was born by a Virgin Mary.

[12:57] The normal Jesus who spoke. Just that there is something different about this Jesus. He, even though he was fully man, he had, he lived before he lived.

[13:15] In a way no one had lived. I feel like rich. He was born in a way no one has been born, ever been born. He spoke in ways no one ever spoke.

[13:30] He did things in ways that no one ever did. He died. Oh, I feel like rich. He died in a way that no one has ever died.

[13:42] He resurrected in a way that no one has ever. He ascended all the religious leaders. Check if any human being was able to do any of these things that he did. He ascended in a way that no one and is coming back.

[13:58] Hallelujah! He's coming back in a way that no one can ever come back. That's what we're talking about. Jesus, we are talking about a human figure, a historic figure we can all identify with.

[14:14] That's Jesus. Now, he's different. There's no one like Jesus because he's just Jesus Christ. Because of the majesty of his name.

[14:28] So he says, keep that text on that screen. So he said, Jesus Christ. Somebody say, Jesus Christ. The reason why we can count on him is because he is Jesus Christ.

[14:41] Number one, I told you that Jesus connotes the human name to make sure, to let us know he identifies with us. How about the Christ?

[14:52] Oh, the Christ connotes his office. In the olden days, when you read the Old Testament, there are three major important offices. The king, the priest, and the prophet.

[15:06] Every time a king is enthroned or is stood, he will always have a priest and a prophet. The priest who was supposed to make way, or the priest who was supposed to help him to have access to God, grant him access to God.

[15:22] And the prophet who was supposed to declare God to him, brings God to him. And the king himself who was supposed to carry out the purpose of God.

[15:33] You know what I So in the Old Testament times, the Jewish times, Hebrew times, the king The king's job is to, that's why when David was called in 13, Acts chapter 13, verse 22, the Bible said God himself deposed Saul.

[15:51] He removed Saul and he brought David because he said about David, I found someone who is there, which shall fulfill all my will.

[16:02] So the job of a king in those days was to advance God's agenda on earth. The job of the priest was to give God's people access to God.

[16:15] The job of the prophet was to declare unto them what God is saying or bring God to them. Now, there's no one in history who occupies these three offices.

[16:28] So a king will have a prophet. So David was a king and a prophet. But he was never a priest. He couldn't be a priest. Moses was a prophet.

[16:40] Moses was a prophet, but he wasn't a king. There were times he was almost bordering the line of a priest, but he wasn't even a priest. He was just a prophet.

[16:51] Aaron was a priest. There's no human being that can combine all the three. But when we talk about Christ, we are talking about the only person who was a king, who was the priest, who was the prophet?

[17:05] Jesus, the Christ. That's what it means when we say Jesus is the Christ. He is the Christ. The Hebrew word is in the Old Testament, the Hebrew Messiah.

[17:17] Okay. It's Messiah. It's the same. Christ. That means the only one who is anointed. Now, there's even something interesting about Jesus. When you hear names like Abraham, one of the things you remember about Abraham is, or many people, there are behaviors or certain individual specific graces that are accredited to them.

[17:41] So like Abraham, he's a man of faith. Like Moses, he's a man of meekness. Okay. Like Samson was a man of strength.

[17:52] Solomon, a man of wisdom. You know, David, a man of war who never lost battles. John, the apostle, man of love.

[18:04] So everyone, you can have one thing, one unique grace or two that was identified with them. But when you come to Jesus, every other grace, you want hope, it's in Jesus.

[18:19] You want strength, it's in Jesus. You want peace, it's in Jesus. You want love, it's in Jesus. You want encouragement, it's in Jesus. You want grace, it's in Jesus. Somebody shout, Jesus Christ.

[18:29] Jesus Christ. Yeah. You can count on him because of his majestic name. He is the Jesus Christ.

[18:40] He is the only all sufficient savior. Hallelujah. And the Bible says that Jesus Christ, the same. Oh, somebody shout the same.

[18:54] The same. Shout it again, the same. The same. The same. And so his majestic name and then his exclusive claims is the same. He hasn't changed. He, Jesus is, is the self, is the existent one.

[19:08] He existed before he was born. He existed. So when the, yeah, the Bible says that actually in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God.

[19:20] You know, times change. People change. Some of you know people who every time you are going to, anytime you meet them or you're going to talk to them, you are not sure whether they've changed.

[19:32] So you always, instead of asking how are you, you ask who are you. Sometimes you can live with, you can live with a person who has all kinds of mood swings.

[19:45] You don't know who you are dealing with. At what, so you have to wait to find out, okay, who are you today? I'm a happy person. Then you can flow in the happiness. Some of us have friends who you don't even know what they are going to say when you meet them.

[19:58] Because there's this oscillation, inconstance about human nature. That's why you can't put all your trust in one person. Because human beings change.

[20:13] You can't keep asking people every time you are, sometimes you may not ask them, but you are thinking, who are you? So who am I going to be dealing with now? So human beings, sometimes we are, we oscillate.

[20:24] But it means that he has immutability. Times are changing. The way the internet was working five years ago has changed.

[20:38] But there's one thing that doesn't change. because of that, you can always count on him.

[20:51] You can count on Jesus because, but thank God that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

[21:02] You can count on him because of his majestic name. You can count on him because of his majestic name. You can count on him because of his claims.

[21:13] And he claims it that, he claims to not change. It's only God who doesn't change. Jesus has immutability. The way he was yesterday is that you can trust him. That's the way he is today.

[21:24] And that's the way he'll be tomorrow. So if he was able to sustain you, I think, Mark, not Martin Luther, Charles Pergin, who said, it is foolishness to think that God provides grace for every trouble you've been through except the one you are going through right now.

[21:45] It is foolishness to think that God provides grace for every trouble you've been through except the one you are going through now. What does that mean? If God helped you yesterday, it's the same today.

[21:58] It's the same today. The same God who sustained you, the same God who did that for you, he's the same today. I want you to know that Jesus, there's no one like Jesus.

[22:12] You can count on him. That's why I said that, I will not fear, what can man do to me? He is there. He is a constant of proportionality.

[22:24] He's the one you can count on. You can count on Jesus any day, any time. If he loved you yesterday, he still loves you. Oh, if he loved you today, he will love you tomorrow. Jesus does not change.

[22:35] He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Pastors might change. Prophets might change. Situations might change. Friends might change. Circumstances might change.

[22:46] But Jesus does not change. He's the same yesterday, today, and forever. If you believe in God, if you believe in God, yes, Lord. Yes, Lord. Jesus does not change.

[22:58] He is the same. You can count on his love. He's the same. You can count on his mercy. He's the same. You can count on his kindness. He's the same.

[23:09] You can count on his goodness. He's the same. Jesus doesn't change. He said, Jesus Christ, the same. I really want to encourage somebody. It doesn't matter what's going on in your life.

[23:20] It doesn't matter what you have been through. It doesn't change. It doesn't matter the circumstance you find yourself. It doesn't change. It doesn't matter who is against you. Jesus doesn't change.

[23:30] You can count on him. I don't know what you might be going through. But have you forgotten what he did for you? There was a time you taught everything.

[23:41] All hope was lost. And God, Jesus, came through for you. He has immutability. He doesn't change. He's the same. Am I preaching this? I'm going to talk.

[23:52] Jesus doesn't change. He has immutability. When you look at all others, they change. His holy character never changes. His righteous standards never changes.

[24:02] His divine purpose never changes. His faithful word never changes. His omnipotent power never changes. His steadfast love never changes.

[24:14] His divine sovereignty and sovereign authority never changes. If he could do it last time, he would be able to do it again. Praise the Lord. Jesus, the same yesterday, today, and forever.

[24:29] So then, if we say Jesus has immutability, that means we're talking about his God. If he has, didn't you remember I've been teaching about the deity of Jesus Christ?

[24:39] In fact, this scripture we've been using, 2 Timothy 2, verse 12, remember? If we suffer, we shall also reign with him. If we deny him, he will also deny.

[24:50] The 13 is where I want to go to. Look at verse 13. If we believe not, yet he abides faithful, he cannot deny. He does not change. He abides faithful.

[25:01] He abides faithful. Oh, come on. I said Jesus, abides faithful. Now, this is actually talking about God, but it applies to Jesus. It applies to Jesus.

[25:13] So if it applies to Jesus, that tells us that Jesus Christ is God. James 1, verse 17, it says, God, there's no shadow of turning or variableness. God, nothing says that, every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of light with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turn.

[25:35] There's no variableness with God and Jesus Christ said, I am constant. Jesus Christ said, I have immutability, no variable. So Jesus Christ is God. He's the divine one and so that's why we can count on him.

[25:49] These are his claims. They said that you haven't seen Abraham and he said, Abraham, you are not even yet 50. He said, Abraham saw your days and he said, I'm telling you, before, John 8, 58, before Abraham, before Abraham, I am.

[26:05] So you can tell clearly that Jesus Christ is God. These are his claims so we can count on him. Say, I can count on Jesus. I can count on him. Three things.

[26:15] So number one, you can count on Jesus because of his majestic name. You can count on Jesus because of his faithful claims and his claims, sorry, because of his claim.

[26:26] And then number three, that's very important. His claims are exclusive, sorry, you can count on him because he's exclusive. Number three, because of his unwavering faithfulness.

[26:39] Let's look at the text again. Jesus Christ, the same. When? When? And then when? And then when?

[26:50] For Abraham. His unwavering faithfulness, the same. He can count. So this scripture tells us that there's no one like Jesus and you can count on him because of his name.

[27:02] You can count on him because if he's the same and God is the same, he's deity. And you can count because of his exclusive claims and you can count on him because of his unwavering faithfulness. Listen to this.

[27:13] Christianity, this is a very strong point I'm about to make. Christianity is not just about believing in doctrines or believing in a theology.

[27:25] Even though what you believe will determine how you behave. So your belief is belief or acceptance of some facts. Christianity is, the base of true Christianity is trust in a person.

[27:41] Your trust, your faith in a person. That is what determines how Christian you are. And the person is Jesus. He's a personal Jesus. Your faith in Jesus more than theological facts you know and agree with.

[27:56] More than greed that you accept. It's faith in a person. Your trust in a person. And you trust that in spite of what is going on, what you are going through, he is the same.

[28:10] He is faithful. God is faithful. Jesus is faithful. You can count on his faithfulness. He said, God has said this so we can boldly say, the Lord is my help.

[28:23] I shall not fear. What shall man do unto me? What shall man do? He's faithful. He's faithful. He is not changing. Your situation will not make God different.

[28:35] It's not the complexity of your condition that makes God now has to adapt to something else. Suddenly, a big problem comes. God is now trying to, okay, how am I going to handle this one?

[28:46] How am I going to handle this one? The same yesterday. The same today. The same forever.

[28:57] That means that tenses don't matter. Past tense, present tense, future tense, doesn't matter. Sometimes, he might come late by his own time. You remember?

[29:10] He said, Lord, if you have been here, my brother, John 11, from verse 23, Martha said to Jesus, if you had been here, my brother would not have been dead.

[29:22] But Martha switched and said, nevertheless, whatever you ask God, he can do it. Nevertheless, Jesus Christ might not be on schedule, according to our schedule, but he's still on time.

[29:37] Bible says, at the fullness of time, God sent forth his time, his son, born of a woman, born under the law. The point I'm making is that he's reliable. He's trustworthy.

[29:48] I know sometimes things can happen to hurt you. Somebody you trusted, somebody you believed in, did something and you even questioned. Some people have always said, I don't trust anybody again.

[29:58] Oh, yes. I can understand why. I can understand because human beings are not entirely. So if, but don't let that drive you away from putting all your trust in him.

[30:12] why? He's the same yesterday, he's the same today and he's the same forever. Actually, look at the text. He never said he's the same tomorrow.

[30:27] There's a difference between he's the same tomorrow, he's the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. No. There's a difference between today and tomorrow and the same today and forever. How long is forever? As far as forever can take you.

[30:38] He's the constant one. There's no one like Jesus you can count on him. I don't know what and we all have varying situations. Some are dealing with situations that people don't have a clue.

[30:53] The threat your life is under, your health is under, your finances are under, your marriage is under. The threat, I mean, if somebody, I've heard stories that people have given birth at the age of 60.

[31:06] At the last two years, I heard it. in Nigeria, she gave birth. She's been married for 23 years or so and finally, at the age of 60 or 58 or something, she gave birth.

[31:18] Listen, I want to say something. The records of Bible is not just historical information to know about the character of God.

[31:32] It's also to tell you about what God will do. because He is today. He is today. He is today. He is today.

[31:43] He is today. He is today. So, if He did it some time ago, stop worrying.

[31:54] the God who took care of your mother and father yesterday is taking care of you today and you take care of your children tomorrow. The God who took care of your parents yesterday is taking care of you today and you take care of your children tomorrow.

[32:14] He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. I came with an announcement that you can count on Jesus. You can count on Him. You can count on Him.

[32:27] Even when the messenger looks different, when the messengers feel different to you, count on Jesus because He is the same yesterday, He is the same today, and He is the same forever.

[32:42] Not tomorrow, but forever. As long as forever can take you, Jesus doesn't change. Thank you for listening to this message by David Entry.
