[0:00] to God's house but I have an announcement to make first. We, the Free Church of Scotland, are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday the 8th of September 2022 at Balmoral Castle, Aberdeenshire. As the nation enters a time of national mourning and as a remark of respect, on Sunday the 11th of September, congregations are asked to begin worship by standing to observe one minute silence. So we will do that now if we stand for one minute's silence.
[0:56] Thank you. Thank you.
[1:09] Thank you. Thank you.
[1:22] Thank you. Thank you. . . .
[1:57] . . .
[2:27] . . . . . .
[2:49] . . 25, we sing verses Mark 1 to 6. To thee I lift my soul, O Lord, my God I trust in thee. Let me not be ashamed, let not my foes triumph over me.
[3:07] I will go down to sing verse 6. Thy mercies, the most tender are, do thou, O Lord, remember, and loving kindnesses, for they have been of old for ever. Psalm 25, the second version, verses 1 to 6.
[3:37] O Lord, my God I trust in thee. Let me not be ashamed, let not my foes triumph over me.
[4:03] You can't have none, I shall be, let not my foes triumph over me.
[4:20] I shall be, let not my foes triumph over me. I shall be, let not my foes triumph over me. I shall be, let not my foes triumph over me.
[4:38] Thy ways are shown, teach me thy own house, lead me in, let not my foes triumph over me.
[4:56] For all my sins, you have gone, only I wait on thee.
[5:13] Lord, my mercy, son, Lord, save me now, do thy foes triumph over me.
[5:31] And the way, kindness is part of me. I'll be the Lord forever.
[5:48] Let us bow our heads in prayer. Our gracious Father in heaven, we bow our heads before thee, the great God of heaven and earth, the King of kings, the Lord of lords, the King of righteousness, the one who has the right to determine what is right and what is wrong.
[6:34] We come before thee, gracious God, as one who is incontestably sovereign, one who is all-powerful, ultra-discerning, the creator of everything, the sole proprietor of all that there is, having called everything that there is into existence.
[7:06] You are our lawgiver. You are our judge. We trust. You are our savior also.
[7:18] We have been singing that you are our God and that we trust in thee. We thank you, heavenly Father.
[7:29] You are not only full of majesty, not only holy, high, never-ending, but you are merciful.
[7:42] You are good. You are kind. You are kind. You are kind. You are kind. You are kind. You are kind. You have orchestrated forgiveness for the greatest of sinners.
[7:54] And we bow our heads and confess that by nature, we're not interested. That's how vile we are.
[8:05] That's how sinful we are. You are high, holy, great, full of majesty, all sovereign.
[8:16] And you've orchestrated, found out a way whereby the most guilty rich can be instantly forgiven.
[8:27] And we're not interested unless you work in us by your Holy Spirit. And so, heavenly Father, we ask that you would work in us by your Holy Spirit today as we read your word.
[8:45] We thank you that you have given us a divine revelation explaining who you are, what has gone wrong, and how we may put it right.
[8:58] We thank you we can rely upon it. We thank you you've given us your word in your own writing. May we take heed.
[9:09] We come before you this day, heavenly Father, at the beginning of a week that has now passed, a week of history, where we, as a nation, have received a new prime minister and a new king.
[9:32] And a new king. Within approximately 48 hours, these massive national changes have taken place.
[9:44] We thank you. We thank you. You are on the throne. You are on the throne of heaven and you're king of all the earth. And we ask, oh, heavenly Father, that you would hear the prayers and the petitions which have been offered up this week on behalf of our new prime minister and on behalf of our new king.
[10:10] We do pray for the sorrowing royal family confronted with death, realizing that they are but flesh and blood and that we have all to appear before the judgment seat of Christ.
[10:32] Our gracious God, we pray that you would bless your word which was read at the Thanksgiving service yesterday, publicly, through our whole nation.
[10:45] May those who read it and all who heard it lay it to heart that we have to appear before you.
[10:57] We pray that you give great grace and great wisdom and blessing to our new prime minister and to our new king.
[11:09] We thank you for the oaths which he took. May he be given grace by almighty God as he asked himself to keep faithful and loyal and that he would honor you, the almighty God.
[11:28] We ask that you give him strength and grace to perform his duties, faithfully remembering the one living and true God.
[11:41] We pray, Heavenly Father, for the kingdoms of the earth that know tragedy, war and poverty at this time.
[11:55] We thank you for our own christianity. We thank you for your persecuted church throughout many places in the world. Oh, Lord, we thank you for the grace you've given them and we pray that you take down the power of their fierce enemies and that you would graciously grant them grace.
[12:16] We thank you for their determination To persist in worshipping you. Despite what it may cost them. We pray for those who are suffering.
[12:28] In the floods in Pakistan. We pray for those who endure war. Especially in Ukraine. We do realise there are many other nations in warfare.
[12:41] We pray for the situation in Afghanistan. In Iran. In Yemen. In Syria. In North Korea. And oh Lord we pray that you.
[12:53] In your almighty power. And in your almighty grace. Would hasten the day. When wars will cease. When no nation will take up sword against another nation.
[13:08] Oh Lord we long for that day. And we pray to you. The God of providence who arranges everything. That you might arrange it. In your mercy.
[13:18] In your mercy. In your mercy. In your mercy. In your mercy. Holy Father. We pray for all who suffer. We pray that you bless medication.
[13:29] WaarM farm hate. are available and where they are not available, we ask that you might heal apart from any human means, if this be to your glory and for their good. We pray, gracious God, you do remember all in trouble and need. We pray for all who are bereaved. Bless the voice of death, not only nationally in our royal family, but bless it in the humble home where loved ones have left this world. Be, we pray thee, with our young growing up in an age of license and liberty, encouraged at taxpayers' expense to trifle with what your word forbids, sin. O Lord God, we ask that you would have mercy on those who seek to bring their children up in your fear.
[14:32] Now, Lord, we commit ourselves to you and we ask that you'd remember what we've forgotten to pray for. Keep us in your love, keep us in your fear, wash all our sins away, for we pray all in the name of the Lord Jesus and for your glory. Amen.
[14:58] We continue to worship God by praising him, by singing from Psalm, the second version of Psalm 25 once more. This time we sing verses marked 7 to 11. The second version of Psalm 25 at verse 7.
[15:18] Let not the errors of my youth nor sins remembered be in mercy for thy goodness sake. O Lord, remember me.
[15:28] We go to verse 10. The whole paths of the Lord our God are truth and mercy sure, to such as keep his covenant and testimonies pure. Psalm 25 verses 7 to 11.
[15:45] Let not the errors of my youth nor sins remember him. Let not the errors of my youth nor sins remember him.
[16:06] Lord, we keep us for the errors of my Facebook has been orИnging.
[16:17] May he olması to youropsy and the ways of leaving fear and 97 to 500% or incidents remember him. It so profoundly cass'd be ...
[16:27] but in love of our people .... He paramed is also bigger.
[16:43] A And glory he will die In challenge and justice of it To be the proof of his De snaps of his candid ways
[17:48] He draws hisишь To such a sweet place of my land A testimony to you Boys and girls, I've forgot to tell the story But I'll tell it now, okay?
[18:27] This is about a boy and a girl Who are getting all dressed up by their parents To go to a party So she did the boy first Because he was, well, he was usually the most difficult to clean So he had his bath and they dressed it up With a new shirt and new trousers and new shoes and everything And oh, he was spick and span He was beautiful So then it was the sister's turn And oh, of course, she took a long, long time And she got clean eventually And then one of the mother said to her boy Johnny, where are you?
[19:10] And he was out in the garden And he came in And he was filthy dirty He couldn't be bothered waiting for his sister To get all bathed and dressed up So he went out and he started kicking about with a ball And his new shoes were filthy His white shirt was dirty He was filthy And the mother, of course, was very upset And she said, Johnny, you're going back into the bath And he said, no, no, mum I've had my bath I've been cleaned Oh, well, she says You still need cleaning Now, boys and girls There's a message to that Which will come to say that It's not once we need cleaned We need washed all the time And when Jesus forgives somebody He wipes their slate clean
[20:11] But, you know, we keep on sinning We keep on doing wrong things So we need to be washed again And we need to keep praying And saying, oh, Lord, wash me and clean me Even after we've been forgiven Even after we've been cleansed So you remember, boys and girls You need to pray daily Because Jesus taught us how to pray And he taught Christians Christians Whose sins are forgiven That they still have to pray Every day Forgive me my sins So remember Every day You have to pray Lord, forgive me my sins Okay?
[21:04] Very good then Well, we'll Turn in our Bibles To the Gospel of John Chapter 13 You may remember that we're going through this Gospel And we'll read the whole of chapter 13 John chapter 13 We'll read the whole chapter 13 John 13 Now Before the feast of the Passover When Jesus knew that his hour was come That he should depart That he should depart out of this world Unto the Father Having loved his own Which were in the world He loved them Unto the end And supper
[22:04] Being ended The devil Having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot Simon's son To betray him Jesus Knowing That the Father Had given all things into his hands And that he was come from God And went to God He ariseth from supper And laid aside his garments Took a towel And girded himself After that He poured water into a basin Began to wash the disciples' feet And to wipe them With the towel Wherewith he was girded Then cometh he To Simon Peter And Peter saith unto him Lord Dost thou wash My feet?
[22:55] Jesus answered And said unto him What I do Thou knowest not now But thou shalt know hereafter Peter saith unto him Thou shalt never wash My feet Jesus answered him If I wash thee not Thou hast no part with me Simon Peter saith unto him Lord My feet Not my feet only But my hands and my head Jesus saith unto him He that is washed Needeth not save To wash his feet But is clean every whit And ye are clean But not all For he knew Who should betray him Therefore said he You are not all clean So after he had washed their feet And had taken his garments And was set down again
[23:56] He said unto them Know ye what I have done to you You call me Master And Lord And you say well For so I am If I then Your Lord and Master Have washed your feet You are also to wash One another's feet For I have given you an example That you should do As I have done to you Verily verily I say unto you The servant is not greater Than his Lord Neither he that is sent Greater than he that sent him If you know these things Happy are you If you do them I speak not of you all I know whom I have chosen But that the scripture May be fulfilled He that eateth bread with me Hath lifted up his heel against me
[24:59] Now I tell you Before it comes That when it is come to pass You may believe That I am he Verily verily I say unto you He that receiveth Whomsoever I send Receiveth me But he that receiveth me Receiveth him that sent me When Jesus had thus said He was troubled in spirit And testified And said Verily verily I say unto you That one of you Shall betray me Then the disciples Looked one on another Doubting Of whom he spake Now there was lenient On Jesus One of his disciples Whom Jesus loved Simon Peter Therefore beckoned to him That he should ask Who it should be Of whom he spoke
[25:59] And then Lying on Jesus' breast He then Lying on Jesus' breast Saith unto him Lord who is it Jesus answered He it is To whom I shall give a sop When I have dipped it And when he had dipped The sop He gave it To Judas Iscariot The son of Simon And after the sop Satan entered into him Then said Jesus unto him That thou doest Do quickly Now no man at the table Knew for what intent He spake this unto him For some of them thought Because Jesus had the bag That Jesus had said to him Buy those things That we have need of Against the feast Or that he should give Something to the poor He then Having received the sop Went immediately out
[27:00] And it was night Therefore When he was gone out Jesus said Now is the son of man glorified And God is glorified In him If God be glorified in him God shall also glorify him In himself And shall straightway glorify him Little children Yet a little while I am with you You shall seek me And as I said unto the Jews Whether I come You cannot come So now I say to you A new commandment I give unto you That you love one another As I have loved you That you also love one another By this shall all men know That you are my disciples If you have love one to another
[28:02] Simon Peter said unto him Lord whither goest thou Jesus answered him Whither I go Thy canst not follow me Now But thou shalt follow me Afterwards Peter said unto him Lord why cannot I follow thee now I'll lay down my life for thy sake Jesus answered him Wilt thou lay down thy life For my sake Verily verily I say unto thee The cock shall not crow Till thou hast denied me Thrice And may God The Holy Spirit Bless the very reading Of his word to us We'll now sing Once again From the same psalm Second version Of psalm 25
[29:03] This time we sing Verses 11 To 15 Now For thine own name's sake O Lord I humbly thee entreat To pardon mine iniquity For it is very great Down to verse 15 Towards the Lord My waiting eyes Continually are set For he it is That shall bring forth My feet Out of the net Psalm 25 Verses 11 To 15 Amen Amen For thine own name's sake O Lord I humbly Give the truth To pardon mine
[30:06] Iniquity For it is very good For when fear Tarkin' Shall be The wind Ami Thou Tears Thou Is Thou Use The Spirit Ha All the glory is real, such as to fear his name.
[31:15] And he is holy, God let out with thy will pass to them.
[31:33] Towards the Lord, thy waiting eyes, continue in our stead.
[31:52] While he is last shall bring forth, my dear.
[32:05] Woe convert! Let us now turn in our Bibles to the chapter of God's Word which we read, the Gospel of John, chapter 13.
[32:30] And while I want to refer to almost the whole chapter, let's just read again verse 1. The Gospel of John, chapter 13, verse 1.
[32:44] Now, before the feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come, that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, For having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
[33:12] Especially that last clause. Having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
[33:26] Having begun to love his people, he continued to the very, very end.
[33:36] You see, now he was being confronted with his main purpose of coming to earth. To die. To pay for the sins of his people.
[33:50] Now, in eternity before he came, when he agreed with the Father that he would be the substitute for his people's sin, when he agreed to suffer all that he was to suffer, he must have said to himself, Now, these people, these people, I'm going to go through all that agony for, they must be lovely people.
[34:25] They must be wonderful. And he'd be longing to meet them. And then he becomes a human being.
[34:38] He grows till the time of his ministry beginning. And he meets his people. What are they? What are they?
[34:51] Are they wonderful people? Are they magnificent? Are they the cream of the earth? They're worms of the dust.
[35:04] But our Bible tells us, once he began to love us, he continued to the very end, loving us, despite what we were like.
[35:22] Despite meeting us for the first time. Despite knowing what we were like. Having begun, he continued to love to the very end.
[35:38] Now, there's at least three things in this chapter which our Bible tells us Jesus knew. And in verse 3, you saw it, we read it at the beginning.
[35:51] Before the feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come. This traumatic hour.
[36:05] The most traumatic hour of history. It's about to come. The greatest pain and agony that ever any human being throughout the history of time would endure was about to come on the Son of God.
[36:27] And you would say, had he not got enough on his mind? Had he not got enough to think of now that the, knowing the hour has come.
[36:42] You would have heard our new king said to our new prime minister yesterday. This is the day. This is the day I dreaded.
[36:55] Well, if there ever was a day to dread, it was the day that we're speaking of here about the king of kings and lord of lords.
[37:07] He now has to endure the pain and the agony. And what's he doing? What's he concentrating on?
[37:18] Loving his people. Having begun to love, he loves to the very end. We're also told in this chapter, certainly two or three references to it.
[37:35] The 11, verse 11, makes it clear. He knew, this is the second thing he knew. He knew Peter was about to betray him.
[37:47] Now, if he ever needed support, it was surely then. But having begun to love, he continues to love Peter and you and me if we're in Christ.
[38:06] Now, here's the thing to note about betrayal. It's a horrible, horrible, there is nothing so hurtful as betrayal.
[38:20] Remember this. It is not an enemy who betrays someone. You expect your enemies to do the dirty on you.
[38:33] It is a friend who betrays someone. It is a friend who betrays. Or at least someone that portrays himself as a friend.
[38:47] That is what is so hurtful, so sore about betrayal. There's a third thing in verse 3 we're told. He knew. Knowing this, he carried on loving his people.
[39:02] He knew, verse 3, where are we? Verse 3. Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hand.
[39:13] He began to wash the disciples' feet. All things given into his hand. That's basically, I think we can say, that's knowing that he now had authority to do anything he wants.
[39:31] Divine authority was given permission from heaven, from his Father, to do what he wanted to do. Anything you want to do, you can do it.
[39:44] What does he choose to do? Dispel his enemies? Avoid the cross?
[39:55] No, no. What does he do? Does he show his authority? Does he show his greatness? Well, actually he does. What he shows is the greatness of his love.
[40:08] That's what he shows. He began to wash the disciples' feet. Having begun to love, he continues to love to the very end.
[40:22] Having forgiven them all, he now washes them. Now, I really want to refer to much in the chapter and I've tried to break it down as simply as we could.
[40:38] Three W's. Christ's love through washing their feet. Christ's love in withdrawing himself from them.
[40:50] I go away and you can't follow me now. This is him revealing he's going to leave them. Through Christ's loving, through washing, through withdrawal.
[41:01] And of course, through warning Peter. The strongest of the disciples. Warning him, Peter.
[41:12] You're going to lay down your life for me, are you? Before the cock crow thrice, you'll deny you. Before the cock crow, you'll deny me thrice.
[41:25] Washing, withdrawal, warning. Just three doubles. It just might help us remember it. Washing their feet. Verses 3 to 17.
[41:36] How important is that? How important? Why? Why is this? We don't speak much about it.
[41:47] We don't really practice it. But there are some sects who make it a sacrament. Why wash their feet?
[41:59] Well, in that culture, the ancients in that culture, it was basically the elementary etiquette. When someone arrived in your house, the first thing you did was wash their feet.
[42:14] It was the local culture and an elementary form of just etiquette. And any household that had servants, there was a special servant laid aside for washing their feet.
[42:31] It was just part of life in these days. You know, at this time, the Romans were in and they had the public baths, the Roman baths. When you came home from being at the baths, you were given a basin and water and a towel to clean your feet.
[42:53] After coming from the baths, coming home from your swim, after being soaked and washed and cleaned at the baths, you were given a basin of water to clean your feet.
[43:06] That was normal etiquette. Because your feet were soiled, wearing sandals in these days, through the dust and the sand and the road. But what we want to look at primarily is not the physical thing, but the spiritual lessons in verse 10.
[43:26] Jesus saith to him, he that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet. He's saying you don't need another bath, Peter.
[43:39] You need just to wash your feet. Because he's clean every whit. And you're clean, but not all of you. Referring, of course, to Judas Iscariot.
[43:52] Now just four or five lessons, spiritual lessons to learn from that. Christians who believe in Christ are forgiven once.
[44:05] And they are forgiven once for all their sins, past, present and future.
[44:17] We don't often think of that. We don't often realise that. We don't often benefit from that. The moment you first believe on Christ, all your sins, past, present and future, are instantly forgiven.
[44:41] But that's the forgiveness of sin. There's also the cleansing of sin. You're forgiven once completely for everything.
[44:55] But you have then to be cleansed from your sin. Not once or twice or ten times, but continually.
[45:06] We go back to our story with the children. We get, as we live, we get dirty. We commit more sins.
[45:16] And we have to confess them. Do we confess them to get in a right relationship with God again? If we've truly believed all our sins, past, present, future are forgiven.
[45:32] But we need to confess them as we commit them continually. And as Jesus says in verse 10 here, you cannot be cleansed.
[45:45] Your feet can't be cleansed until your heart is first cleansed. Until you first get a new heart, as it were.
[45:55] You see, what we have to learn. One of the real, the most important lessons to learn is this. The real problem about sin is not really the penalty for sin.
[46:10] Not really. The real problem with sin is the pollution of sin. That's why you need to be cleansed continually.
[46:21] The penalty of sin. Christ has taken it all at the cross. It's all paid for. But the pollution still sticks.
[46:33] Sin leaves a stain. A spot on us. That's to be washed. The stain of sin has to be continually, daily.
[46:47] I think I can say hourly. Needs to be washed and cleansed. And in verse 34, our Saviour emphasises the new commandment.
[47:02] This is an act that you love one another. We have to wash one another's feet. We have to forgive one another. We have to encourage and help one another.
[47:15] Isn't it interesting? A new commandment I give unto you. You would think it would be, well, here's a new commandment. Love your enemies. That's not the 11th commandment.
[47:30] Love one another. You see, it can be easier to love your enemies when they're at the other end of the world. When you don't meet them but maybe once a year or twice a year.
[47:46] Loving those that you daily mix with. Loving those you have to work with. That's not so easy. And that's what we're told here we have to work on.
[48:00] We have to learn to be humble and love one another. We have to learn having begun to love. We have to learn love never ends.
[48:14] Not even when we, Christ's love for us. He loved us even though we had to repeatedly wash us and cleanse us.
[48:26] Although we repeatedly let him down. He loves us to the very end. Second W. Withdrawal.
[48:38] Verses 33 to 36. Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You shall seek me. And as I said unto the Jews, Whether I go, ye cannot come.
[48:55] So now I say to you, You cannot follow me now. There's two things that the disciples never grasped.
[49:08] One was, That he was to be lifted up and crucified. They could not get their head around that.
[49:21] Christ was the saviour. He was going to redeem Israel. He was, He's the king of kings and lord of lords. They could not understand this talking about, Going to be lifted up.
[49:36] Going to be crucified. And they never understood it. As Luke 24, The two on the way to his inmates, Couldn't grasp it after it happened even, For a while.
[49:49] They could never, Just could never understand, Why he had to be crucified. And isn't that amazing? If I was to ask you Christians here, Look, What's your hope for eternity?
[50:04] Why, Why will you get into heaven? I'm sure you would all say in one way or another, Christ died for my sins. He paid the penalty of my sins.
[50:15] And that's right, Of course. But the disciples, They couldn't grasp it. We thought it was him, That was going to redeem Israel.
[50:28] They said in Luke 24, The two on the road to Emmaus. But he was crucified. We were wrong. It couldn't have been him, Because he died. Our hope is, That he did die.
[50:42] Their problem was, That he died. Strange. You see, It's not intellectual. Faith, Is not intellectual. And one of the best ways to know, When you discover something, For the first time, And realise, Oh, I should have known that before.
[51:00] And you get ashamed, And you wonder, Are you a Christian? Remember this, If you ask yourself, Have I got faith in Christ? Ask yourself this, Do I love Christ?
[51:12] Because faith, Cannot be separated from love. And love, Cannot be separated from faith. If you have one, You have the other.
[51:25] There are the two sides, The theologian tells us, The two sides of one coin. Faith, And love. And if you're not very sure, Have you got faith in him, Tell me, Do you love him?
[51:37] And if you love him, Your faith's in him. The other thing, That the disciples couldn't grasp, Not only that he had to be crucified, But the disciples just could never accept, Life, Without the physical presence of Jesus.
[51:55] They couldn't cope. They wanted Jesus to be beside him, All the time. And if he wasn't there, To ask a question, Oh, They were lost.
[52:08] They wanted him to be with them, All the time. But, You see, We'll learn, They were putting too much confidence, On the physical presence, Of the Lord.
[52:24] Far too much confidence, In the physical presence, Of the Lord. We might see more of that tonight. But here's another, Here's two or three things, We need to learn, About the presence of Christ.
[52:36] Christ's presence, Is not always felt, By us. Am I right?
[52:50] Christ's presence, Is not always felt. We've spoken about, Luke chapter 24, The two on the road, To Emmaus. It's only after he was gone, That he realised, Hey, That was Christ, That was Jesus.
[53:06] After he was gone, Our heart burned, Within us, While we talked with him, By the way. But they didn't realise then, Afterwards, They realised, Maybe, You get upset, You've been to church, You've heard others, Rave about it, They loved it, And, Oh, I got nothing.
[53:31] Christ's presence, Isn't always felt. But secondly, Christ's presence, Isn't always, Pleasant, It's not always, A wonderful experience, It's an awesome, Experience, Awesome, You remember, Peter, When the saviour, Came to them, On the sea, And said, Cast your net, On the side, Launch down, Into the deep, He said, Master, We've toiled all night, We've been at it all night, We've got nothing, Blessed be God, He said, Nevertheless, We'll do what you say, And then, When they had so much fish, They were breaking the nets, What did Peter say?
[54:23] Depart from me, Oh Lord, I am a sinful man, You see, The presence of Christ, Can convict us of sin, Rightly, But it's not always pleasant, Is it?
[54:41] So Christ's presence, Is not always felt, Christ's presence, Is not always pleasant, But you know, There's one place, Where Christ, Has promised, As far as I can make out, Now I'm open to correction, And would love to be corrected, But as far as I can make out, In the New Testament, In the New Testament, There's only one place, Where he guarantees, Where he guarantees, His presence, Where two, Or three, Are gathered, Together, In my name, There, I, Am, Whatever you feel, Whether it's pleasant, Or not, There, I am, Where two, Or three, Are gathered, In, My, Name, What's so important,
[55:44] About that, It's very relevant, For us today, You know, I'm very, I'm very fond, Of two things, I'm very, Very fond, Of theology, And I'm very, Very fond, Of technology, And I thank God, For Zoom, I do, What a great blessing, It is, But listen, Listen, It's not, Equivalent, To worshipping, Christ, Gathered, With, Other, Christians, In, God's, House, It's not the same, Listen, It's good, To worship, By Zoom, But it's not, The same, As gathering, In God's, House, With God's, People, As appointed, Because, Christ, Is here,
[56:45] And he's in this building, Now, And every time, You gather together, It's important, Not to forsake, The gathering, Of yourselves, Together, It's better than Zoom, There's a blessing there, You won't get, Anywhere else, In the world, Whatever, Whatever, You feel, Whatever, Whether, You did feel, But it wasn't, Enjoying, Enjoyable, Christ, Is there, Now, That leads us, To the third, W, Christ's, Warning, Christ, Warning, Christ, Loves, His people, Now, Whether, We feel, Christ's presence, Whether, We enjoy, Christ's presence, Or not, Christ, Loves, Us, He's committed,
[57:47] To his church, He's committed, To being with them, To the end, Of the age, But here, We have Peter, Not, Quite, Believing, As he should, In the warning, Christ gives him, Verses 36, To 38, Peter, Went, By what he felt, I feel strong, Lord, There's no way, I'm going to deny you, I'll stand up for you, Anywhere, I'll face anyone for you, He felt, Strong, Peter, And the other disciples, Went, Not only by what they felt, But what they had done, Previously, The equivalent account, In Luke chapter 22, The saviour says, To his disciples, In verse 28, You are they,
[58:48] Who have continued, With me, In my tribulations, He's commending, He's commending, The disciples, He's saying to them, You've been so loyal, You've been so faithful, You have stuck, With me for so long, You're loyal, You're faithful, But, But, It is written, It is written, Smite the shepherd, And the sheep, Shall be scattered, Therefore, You're going to disown me, I can't go by what you feel, I'm not going, He says, By your previous, Loyal, Faithful, Behaviour, I'm going, By what, What, Is, Written, We can't rely,
[59:50] On what we feel, We can't rely, On our, Past behaviour, But we can rely, On what, Is, Written, Peter's problem, Was, He didn't know, The scriptures, He didn't know, The saviour, He didn't know, Himself, He didn't know, Himself, Well, Our time, Is up, I was, Going to say then, Because our theme is, How Christ, Having begun, To love, He loves, To the very end, I was going to say, I think Christ, Loved them, Most, At this point, But I can't say that, If I've understood, The Bible, Correctly, Because Christ's love,
[60:51] For his people, Is, Ever, Lasting, Love, Everlasting, Love, And here's something, About, Everlasting, Love, It's not just, That it has no beginning, Not just, That it has no end, It's that, Everlasting, Love, Cannot, Change, Everlasting, Love, Never, Wavers, Everlasting, Everlasting, Love, Cannot, Decrease, And, Everlasting, Love, Cannot, Increase, Everlasting, Love, Is, Is a quality, Of love, We tend, We tend, To think, It's to do, With the length, Of love, Never, Ending, But it's, A quality, Of love, And, We don't have it,
[61:53] We don't have it, But Christ has it, Ever, Lasting, Love, The love, That had no beginning, The love, That has no end, The love, That will not, Let you go, The love, That cannot, Stop, Him, Loving you, And here's the amazing thing, And it's such a, Serious thing, I hesitate to say it, But not, Even our sin, Can stop, Christ, Loving us, Once, He has begun, To love us, That's love, That's everlasting, Love, A love, That knows, All about you, And still loves you, It's a love, That cannot be, Explained, But blessed be God, It can be, Experienced,
[62:55] It can be, Experienced, If it cannot be, Explained, May God, The Holy Spirit, Make his word, His truth, His love, Effectual, Effectual, To every, One of us, Here, Let's bow our heads, Our, Father, In heaven, We thank you, For your Holy Spirit, Being present, Here, Christ, Being here, By his spirit, Through his spirit, Burn, Your word, Upon our hearts, Unite us, Savingly, Effectually, To your son, Forever, Graciously, Hear us now, And bless us, For we pray all,
[63:58] In Christ's name, Amen, Well, We'll sing the last part, Of Psalm 25, The second version, Of Psalm 25, At verse, Verse 16, To the end, O turn thee, Unto me, O God, Have mercy me upon, Because I solitary, Am in an affliction, Down to verse 21, O let integrity, And truth, Keep me, Who thee attend, Redemption, Lord, To Israel, From all his troubled sin, Psalm 25, Verse 16, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen,

[65:58] Consider thou thine enemies, because he's made me up.
[66:17] I will not live without her at it, where there are games he is.
[66:36] Oh, could I feed my soul, Lord? Could I feed him, Lord?
[66:53] Let me not be a shame, for I do put my custody.

[67:50] Amen. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all, now and forevermore.
