[0:00] Let's turn to sing in God's Word. Psalm 21. It's God's Psalter and Psalm 21.
[0:12] It's God's Psalter and Psalm 21. Let's sing verses 1 down to verse 5 of the psalm.
[0:33] It's God's Psalter, Psalm 21. It's on page 225, verses 1 down to verse 5. The King and Thy great strength, O Lord, shall very joyful be.
[0:43] In Thy salvation rejoice, how vehemently shall He, who hast bestowed upon Him all that His heart would have, and Thou from Him didst not withhold whatever His lips did crave.
[0:56] Psalm 21, verses 1 to 5. To God's praise. Let He in my good strength, O Lord, Thou will be joyfully in Thy salvation rejoice, and Thou would I know.
[1:47] Amen. For I will bless the Lord, the rest of goodness I will hold, and the cloud's dead upon his head like a cloud of purest gold.
[2:58] In this time, the light of me, and the light of the earth is here.
[3:18] In this time, the light of me is at the on heaven, Lord, to him.
[3:39] In this time, the light of me, and the light of me, on earth and the majesty that pass upon his head.
[4:21] Let's turn to read in God's word. We are carrying on our cities in Mark, but we're reading, first of all, in the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 3. Gospel of Matthew, chapter 3.
[4:35] Matthew 3. And afterwards, we can read again Mark, chapter 1. But first of all, Matthew, chapter 3. We're reading the whole chapter together.
[4:46] Let's hear the word of God. In those days, John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea. Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
[5:00] For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah when he said, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare the way of the Lord. Make his path straight.
[5:12] Now John wore a garment of camel's hair and a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey. Then Jerusalem and all Judea and all the region about the Jordan were going out to him.
[5:26] They were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, You brood of vipers, Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
[5:43] Bear fruit in keeping with repentance, and do not presume to say to yourselves, We have Abraham as our father. For I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.
[5:57] Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree, therefore, that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
[6:08] I baptize you with water for repentance. But he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry.
[6:19] He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into the barn.
[6:30] But the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire. Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John to be baptized by him.
[6:41] John would have prevented him saying, I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me? But Jesus answered him, Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.
[6:56] Then he consented. And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him. And he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him.
[7:11] And behold, a voice from heaven said, This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Now turning to Mark chapter 1.
[7:23] Mark chapter 1. We can read from verses 9 down to verse 13. Mark 1 verses 9 down to verse 13. In those days, Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
[7:42] And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, You are my beloved Son.
[7:54] With you I am well pleased. The Spirit immediately drove him out into the wilderness. And he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan.
[8:06] And he was with the wild animals. And the angels were ministering to him. And so on. We could praise to God for his holy and his perfect word. Let's praise God once more, this time singing.
[8:20] Again from the Scottish Psalter, but in Psalm 31. Psalm 31 from the Scottish Psalter. Psalm 31. We can sing verses 1 down to verse 5 of the psalm.
[8:37] Psalm 31 verses 1 down to verse 5. Psalm 31. In thee, O Lord, I put my trust. Shamed let me never be.
[8:48] According to the righteousness, do thou deliver me. Bow down, veneer to me. With speed send me deliverance. To save me, my strong rock be thou, and my house of defence.
[9:01] Psalm 31 verses 1 to 5. To God's praise. Lord's praise. In thee, O Lord, I put my trust.
[9:17] Shamed let me never be. According to thy righteousness, Good love, he did the need. According to thy righteousness, Good love, he did the need. According to thy righteousness, Good love, he did the need.
[9:40] Good love, he did the need. But God, my dear, to me, will see. Send me, give me, give me the power.
[9:55] By the радиo of god. Who is the R takżeman. Vice主ین nurse. In I give me, give me the power.
[10:10] Give me my 350 anthiskt 80 states. Am I fit? against Él, I've fought by thou the Jesus Son.
[10:32] O Jesus Son. Mother Do you call thouemitic sin.
[10:46] And sit apart my strength therefore, Undy out of the air, With dreams that end be falling, So breath will be ourselves.
[11:22] Into thy hands I do omit, My sin for the party.
[11:38] O thou, O thou, O thou, O thou, O thou, O thou, O thou, O thou, O thou, Thy hands we be near thee.
[11:58] Let's turn back to the Gospel of Mark, and the verses we had in verses 9 down to verse 13 of the chapter.
[12:09] Gospels of Mark, verses 9 down to verse 13. In those days, Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
[12:24] And so on down to verse 13. As we said, we are, of course, carrying on our series looking at the Gospel of Mark. And here, for a short time this afternoon, we come to the start, we could say, of Christ's public ministry.
[12:42] It's been 30-odd years, and now his public ministry is about to begin. As we said last week, Mark is most interested.
[12:54] The purpose of his book is to be evangelical. It's to share as much about Jesus, his person and his work, as he can in quite a short space.
[13:05] And to those who perhaps are not as well acquainted with all the Jewish history, all the Jewish background of what is being said. But as we look to this text and verses like our verses this afternoon, we have to be careful.
[13:23] Yes, Mark is often quite brief and he's quite short, but his brevity is not there because there's not much being said. It's quite the opposite. And we'll see this as we go on more and more.
[13:36] It is quite incredible how much Mark puts in to even one single sentence. In one sentence, as we have today, there is so much glorious Gospel history, Gospel truth and Gospel promise, all packed in together.
[13:54] So this afternoon we come to these verses, the first public appearance of our Saviour. As we begin his public Gospel ministry, our Saviour does three incredible things in our verses.
[14:13] He fulfills the ancient prophecies about him. He fulfills the ancient prophecies. He identifies with his people. And finally we see him beginning to suffer for his people.
[14:30] And for us to hopefully begin to understand that together, we can just take our verses under two very simple and very broad headings, two simple points. First of all, we see baptism, and then we see beasts.
[14:44] So baptism to beasts. And for those here who as of yet don't know Jesus, if I can call you friends, I hope I can.
[14:56] Dear friends, I hope when I say friends, I'm not saying that just as a placeholder. I do mean that. Dear friends, as we come to look at his public ministry, as we come to look at the baptism of Jesus, please listen and hear what the Son has done for those who are his.
[15:17] What the Son has done for you, if you'll come and trust in him, even this very afternoon. Listen to what it is for Jesus, what he did to be identified alongside you, to the burden he had, to responsibility, to the reality that it was for him to become like his people in all ways apart from sin.
[15:40] And listen to what it means for you. But we have a Savior who identifies himself with you. As we begin to look at the baptism of Jesus, the first question we must ask together is why?
[15:58] Why? Why did Jesus need to be baptized at all? And so the first point we have is the question why.
[16:08] Why did our Savior need to be baptized? Thankfully for preacher and for listener alike, for all those together as believers, as Christians, the one glorious truth we have is Scripture always interprets Scripture.
[16:25] If there's any hard part in the Bible, we can't quite grasp. We must always first look, if the Bible talks about that, anywhere else. And we come to the account, the gospel account of Jesus.
[16:38] We do have in Matthew, Mark, and Luke, we have almost the same gospel account from slightly different angles and recorded in different ways. Matthew, Mark, and Luke, and this is a word you've definitely heard before, but just to refresh ourselves, Matthew, Mark, and Luke are often called the synoptic gospels.
[16:59] Synoptic, just about words, it just tells us, it comes from two words together, but Matthew, Mark, and Luke are synoptic. In other words, they can be seen together.
[17:10] Synoptic, seen together. So we come to read Matthew, Mark, and Luke, we're seeing the same accounts from slightly different angles. And that shouldn't surprise us.
[17:20] You see, what some will say, to try and prove that the Bible isn't real, the Bible isn't true, that it was man-made. Well, how can you say the same account about the same thing, but the accounts be slightly different?
[17:34] Surely that means the Bible's lying. Well, not at all. Not at all. We do this ourselves even today. One silly example, but it's an example that makes clear to us.
[17:50] A few weeks ago, I texted Ian, my friend Ian. I sent him a WhatsApp message asking him to come and, of course, do the communion services this Friday.
[18:04] Now, the message I sent to Ian asking him to come and do the communion services was a world away from the message I then, the email. I then sent Presbytery to let them know our communion times and who's speaking for our communions.
[18:18] Both saying the same information. Both are saying that Ian is preaching here, but two very different messages. One, a message to a friend with one purpose and one, an email to Presbytery.
[18:32] Different purpose. But both having the same information contained in the messages. The same for the Gospels. The same account is given but for different audiences and for different reasons.
[18:45] And this is not here to confuse us. It's here to reassure us that these events took place. And we come and we read in Matthew chapter 3 of the baptism of Jesus.
[18:58] And Matthew 3 reminds us and tells us one important reason of why our Saviour had to be baptised. John the Baptist tries and stops Jesus being baptised.
[19:11] John the Baptist like we all would would say Jesus, you are the Lord. You are my King. I'm not going to baptise you. I'm not going to baptise you. We see poor John saying that it should be you baptising me.
[19:24] But Jesus says no. I must be baptised. Why does Jesus say that in Matthew 3 15? To fulfil all righteousness.
[19:36] Our translations have to fulfil all obedience. This is the reason that Jesus himself gives for why he had to be baptised.
[19:46] To fulfil all righteousness. So what does that mean? There's various reasons. There's various depths to this. But just for ourselves. Just three short explanations for why he had to be baptised.
[20:02] It was of course first of all an act of obedience. The first public act of Jesus' public ministry is an act of obedience.
[20:18] An act of submission. An act that shows that he is the servant saviour come to serve his people. It's not of course submission to John the Baptist.
[20:31] Not submission to his ministry. But rather it's submission to the Father. The Son has come to become like his people.
[20:42] The Son has come to serve his people. The Son had come from glory down to his own creation to become like his people in all ways apart from sin.
[20:56] The Son out of obedience to the Father is baptised. First reason is an act of obedience.
[21:10] Secondly and we'll just touch on this this is a whole other sermon for us and other point perhaps. John the Baptist is as we know of priestly Levitical lineage and here he is presenting the sacrificial lamb to the people.
[21:31] As Jesus submits to the baptism of John here we see the final prophet John the Baptist laying his hands on the final sacrifice for Lord Jesus Christ.
[21:48] And thirdly why our Saviour was baptised and this reason it is over and includes the other reasons. An obedience that leads him to identify.
[22:01] He was baptised to identify with a fallen people. We saw that last week that the baptism of John was one of repentance.
[22:13] Of course Jesus had no need to repent we know that he was sinless in all his ways. But in being baptised Jesus is identifying himself alongside those who were baptised by John the Baptist.
[22:29] He's identifying himself with those he has come to save. Dear brothers and dear sisters and dear friends Jesus became like us in all ways apart from sin.
[22:44] We covered this before in the pulpit here we covered it before and I pray everything next door. We can never overemphasise the fact that Jesus became like you and I in all ways apart from sin.
[22:57] He identified as his people. He became like you became like I. He didn't need any washing away of sins. Of course he didn't but he is baptised to fully come alongside those he has come to save.
[23:16] Brothers and sisters here we're reminded at the very outset as to the love and the condescension the coming down the humbling our saviour engaged in for the sake of his people.
[23:30] So why was he baptised? He was baptised to fulfil all righteousness to perfectly fulfil the act of obedience. he was baptised to become like his people to identify as his people.
[23:48] So what took place at his baptism? Verses 10 and verse 11 of course. What took place? Verse 10 And when he came up out of the water immediately there's that word again immediately again and again through that mark immediately he saw the heavens being torn open and his spirit descending on him like a dove.
[24:13] First of all the heavens the image the vision of the heavens being torn open. This is a pivotal moment a pivotal moment it's made even more special we could say for lack of better words even more glorious by something miraculous taking place.
[24:34] And this vision here this scene of the heavens of the sky being torn apart it takes her mind back to various many Old Testament passages all of them talking about the coming saving of the Lord's people the coming rescuing of the Lord's people one of many Isaiah 64 verse 1 that verse we all heard quoted so often oh that you would rend the heavens and come down that the mountains might quake at your presence that chapter Isaiah 40 64 is talking about the coming saviour the context is God would rescue his people and now God is beginning in public this ministry of rescuing his people and the vision is the heavens being torn open we can't begin to overestimate the importance of this scene we're seeing we are treading as we're on holy ground in these verses we're about to see a trinitarian scene of
[25:39] God's love and God's power and God's redemption plan unfolding here we see father son and spirit endorsing commending and just valuing giving real depth real weight to what is taking place father son and spirit fully of course involved in the public ministry of the son the heavens turn open and then we see the glorious image in the second half of verse 10 and the spirit descending on him like a dove the holy spirit in the form of a dove the detail of that we can't really begin to understand it's beyond our understanding but it's not for us to understand but scripture tells us so we just follow it the holy spirit in the form of a dove invisible form descends on to
[26:39] Jesus Luke again being the gospels being synoptic being seen together Luke chapter three I think it is tells us the holy spirit descended in bodily form as a dove so it's not just metaphor it was real the holy spirit descends in bodily form as a dove and of all this mystery this description of the holy spirit hovering like a bird onto Jesus it's not there for nothing it's there for very good reason John chapter one we all know the glorious introduction don't we of John chapter one the glorious and the the beautiful start of John's gospel in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God he was in the beginning with God and so on so on and John chapter one is there to take us back even further back to Genesis chapter one the image of Jesus coming into the world as a new start just as creation was of course the first creation here we see the second
[27:56] Adam coming as we touched on in the prayer meeting and here we have a new start the opening words of Genesis again words we know in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth the earth was without form and void and darkness was over the face of the deep and the spirit of God was hovering over the face of the water same image as we have here God's spirit is active in creation and here in this dawn of new creation this dawn of the saviour coming to make all things new the spirit of God is again hovering over this act this first act of public ministry of the saviour our minds also perhaps go to the dove of Genesis Genesis 8 this time the dove of Noah the symbol of hope the flood the destruction the death is over now the dove has come to give hope that God's plan is in action
[28:58] God has not forgotten his people and finally this spirit this dove it descends on Jesus that word is important the spirit descending on him like a dove the same word for descending here is the same word used in the Greek translation of the Old Testament to use for anointing the oil was anointing the head of the kings same word is used here for descending on Jesus as Jesus begins his earthly ministry he is as it were commissioned here publicly being commissioned to begin his work of service Isaiah 42 behold my servant whom I uphold my chosen one in whom my soul relights this of course is the father talking about the son I have put my spirit upon him he will bring forth justice to the nations just as King David was anointed here we see the final David the great David being anointed by the
[29:59] Holy Spirit being commissioned as it were as he begins his public ministry so the spirit is there in its power in his power hovering over the son and then our trinitarian scene is complete so we hear the voice of the father in verse 11 the son has been sent and he is here being baptized the Holy Spirit he now hovers over the son and now the father who has sent the son now speaks and the father speaks from glory in this moment verse 11 a voice came from heaven you are my beloved son with you I am well pleased you are my beloved son we might think even to ourselves why does Jesus need to hear this he surely he doesn't need this encouragement he is the second person of the trinity why does
[31:04] Jesus at this point need the confirmation need the reminder of the love of his father well it's about to see in a second Jesus has been already at this point 30 years 30 years growing and living in a sin destroyed a sin sick earth he's been 30 years living and growing up in his own creation and seeing the destruction of sin and here as he begins his public ministry the devil and his angels are about to attack the saviour in a way that has not been seen or will be seen ever again the devil and his full force his full power is about to come and seek to disrupt and distress and distract the ministry of Jesus so as his public ministry begins the father reminds the son of his love his approval his care for him the father is well pleased in the son you are my beloved son father loves the son with you
[32:20] I am well pleased so he loves the son but also the father is pleased with the person and the work of the son he is pleased of the son obedience in this act of baptism and now because the father has confirmed and approved and blessed both the work of the son the person of the son brothers and sisters we are reminded even here and we can know for certain that because we worship a saviour whose person and whose work are approved of by the father we can know that as we worship him this morning the work is done the work is done as we have a saviour as we've seen in these verses who fulfilled all righteousness who in everything he was and everything he did he was perfectly aligned with the plan of redemption and he took in his body the wrath meant for us we can know for certain for certain if we know him just now we can know for certain that not only is the father well pleased in his son but because of his finished work the father is pleased in us why because we are found dear christian in the son covered by the son kept in the son regardless of where you think you might stand this morning if you know the lord if you love the lord if you can call him your savior you are kept by him kept from for him and kept from the world and because of that's true you can know for certain the father is well pleased the father is well pleased this whole baptism scene it assures us but also reassures us that we have a savior who has come to save his people who has come to fulfill all righteousness for the sake of his people so we can know for certain if he is ours and we are his that we are clean and made perfect in his finished work briefly then brings us to the beasts baptism has taken place the whole trinitarian scene that gives us such confidence and hope in the finished work of our savior then what takes place in verse 12 and 13 the spirit immediately again that word which mark uses again and again the spirit immediately immediately drove him out into the wilderness we see there are more detailed accounts in the other gospels of the temptation of Jesus and we'll cover these accounts I'm sure if the lord spares us in time but just briefly looking at this very brief account of the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness
[35:25] Jesus goes from comfort from affirmation from reassurance from the presence of his father and the spirit above him he goes from being reassured of the father's love and approval of him and then from that very moment the son is then taken from comfort and is driven out to the wilderness driven out to the wilderness he's moved by the spirit to the wilderness and here we see as we said a second ago why was Jesus reminded us to the love of the father for him and the approval of the father because Jesus is about to engage now in the most horrendous spiritual warfare against him we see our saviour begin to suffer almost immediately after his public ministry begins now of course he's been suffering since his birth we know that and we've touched on that before but here we see we can say the public suffering begin of our saviour and just two very brief points as to what is taking place here why is now our saviour being tempted out in the wilderness first and foremost we see the second Adam has become as the first in this sense we touched on Thursday evening we looked back to the garden and we'll see with the Lord's help and God willing this coming
[37:01] Thursday Genesis chapter 3 where we see Adam and Eve being evicted from the garden being sent out to the wilderness and here we see that for Jesus to be like us he will experience the full range of our existence and Jesus has gone from a place of closeness and comfort he is now out in the wilderness the first Adam due to his own sin was kicked out was evicted was driven from the garden out where out to the wilderness and now the second Adam in order to identify with his people not because of his own sin but because of the sin of his people because of our sin he is now driven where out to the wilderness away from the place of peace and comfort and love and as begins his public ministry our saviour is out in the wilderness and what is happening to him out there he is facing the full attack of Satan he's become like us and always apart from sin always but more than that we now see
[38:25] Jesus completing what Israel failed to do and we see that in the 40 days that 40 days is such an essential number for us and that's a study perhaps for another day for us the significance of the 40 in scripture appears again and again Israel 40 years traveling because of their disobedience finding no rest finding no home finding themselves going deeper and deeper into sin for all those many years and here we see 40 days 40 days of our sinless saviour battling the very depths of evil we can't begin to understand we can't begin to imagine here yet again Jesus is coming alongside his people he's becoming like us we give in to sin so quickly we give in to temptation so quickly 40 days and 40 nights our saviour is tempted and attacked by Satan and by his angels attacked again and again he does not give in once he is willing to suffer for the sake of his people right from the start as we look forward next Lord's day to remembering his death until he comes again we remember a saviour who is willing not just to die as if that was a small thing but is willing to first suffer and then die to be like us to identify with us and then die he's surrounded surrounded here by the wild animals again just the image the image the old testament we see wild animals always associated with the destruction of Israel the wild beasts but time is going for us but we see that our saviour yes he is on his own in some sense and he spends these 40 days tempted and attacked and assailed but we see he is not left on his own there is as it were help from heaven and the angels were ministering to him just a throwaway passing comment but he was not on his own the father would not forget the son the father still was with the son but yet the son still had to endure these days and many more days after it as we come to begin seeing seeing that the public work of our saviour would begin it by being reminded that he became like us in all ways apart from sin he identified with a fallen people he identified with a people who hated him despised him who wanted nothing to do with him in order to save us if for a second dear dear Christian dear brother dear sister if for a second as you think perhaps even especially the upcoming communion services that
[42:01] God has no interest in you that God has forgotten you that God has turned his face against you if you know him if you love him he has done all this for you as his people the saviour suffered all this and as we know so much more we'll see that in the weeks to come suffered all this and so much more to have you to call you and to keep you as his own they were not to they were not trying to to guilt trip anyone and to come to the Lord's table to do so is wrong to do so is heinous but the reminder is if you know the love of the saviour your place is at the table if you know the one who identified himself to be your saviour who became man who suffered and who died if you know him your place is at the table and dear struggling
[43:06] Christian dear suffering Christian if we're honest most of us at many points could call ourselves suffering or struggling Christian struggling in life struggling in our faith we have a saviour who knows you you have a saviour who knows you who identifies with you who has chosen in his love and his obedience to the father of his love for his people who came down who was baptised to identify alongside us as his people and who began to suffer immediately for the sake of his people all so that you could say and know for certain that he is yours and you are his come and know the saviour who became like you and like me to save his beloved people who was willing to sacrifice his very life for the sake of his people if you haven't yet come to know him how many excuses do you have left
[44:08] I know you think that's rude for me to say that but I've said this before and I'll close with this and say it a thousand times I'll keep saying it we're so comfortable we're so comfortable in our pattern so comfortable in our pews and in our suits so comfortable in our Sunday routine we praise the Lord for a nice clothing we praise the Lord for a peaceful routine they are good things but if we lose sight of what we're doing here why are we here we're here because we know the risen saviour we're here to proclaim his name we're here because the gospel is clear if we know him he keeps us and he will never let us go he will never let us go if we do not know him we must get to know him because otherwise we are not safe and we are in danger this is so real and it's so serious and if we could lock the doors and I could come and just say it to every one of you it wouldn't change anything
[45:11] I can't save you but he can you've heard the gospel countless times you've read this passage countless times but come and even this afternoon even as you leave this service go home and read this chapter again and come and remind yourself as to the sinless saviour who identifies himself with you so that you may be saved if only you would come and trust in him this day without any other man-made condition yes there is responsibilities for those who know Jesus who love Jesus but that is a discussion to have after you first come to him come to him as you are ask for forgiveness from him trust that he will save you and redeem you and rescue you and trust that despite your own self-righteousness and despite your own pride perhaps despite your own perhaps wrong ideas of who you are and who he is he is able and willing to clear all that away and to rescue you and to call you his own come and know the saviour baptised for the sake of his people made like his people who suffered for his people and who now reigns and rules forever as a saviour high priest king and friend of his people just bow our heads now a word of prayer
[46:35] Lord we ask you would help us to not just understand your word but help us to to appreciate your word to to engage in your word help your word not just to be an academic thing for us an educational thing but we help it to be more than that help it to be transformational for us we do ask just now for any here who are struggling with where they stand before you who are not sure whether they are yours or not any here who perhaps are longing to be yours and who are are calling out that you would save them Lord we ask that even this day as they hear again the truth of the saviour and the wonder of who he is that even this day they would come to know and come to love and come to call out to him as their saviour Lord we pray for gospel encouragement and gospel strength to those here who are yours as we look forward to joining together in the celebration and in the partaking and the solemnity and the peace and the joy of your supper next Lord's day help us this week to be bold witnesses help us not just to be hearers but to be doers of the word we pray once more for Lord our brother who leads the praise we thank you Lord for those who do lead the praise week after week we thank you Lord for their willingness and their ability you've given them as we do the essential work of leading the sung praise to you our holy God let's call these things in and through and for Christ in his precious name's sake
[48:11] Amen let's conclude our time together by singing and sing Psalms sing Psalms and Psalms 16 sing Psalms and Psalms 16 these words of hope and his words of joy that we trust in our ever living Saviour and because we trust in our ever living Saviour we also can have a full hope and full assurance that we will live forever with him Psalms 16 from Sing Psalms on page 17 of the Psalm book we can sing verses 7 down to verse 11 of the Psalm I praise the Lord my God whose counsel guides my choice and even in the night my heart recalls instruction's voice before me constantly I set the Lord alone because he is at my right hand I'll not be overthrown Psalm 16 sing Psalms verses 7 to the end to God's praise Amen
[49:13] I wish the Lord my God whose counsel guides my choice and even in the night my heart I have repulsed instructions for me before me constantly during the night and visit her after me today O Lord, Lord, if all my heart is done, I come with joyless sin.
[50:31] My Lord, if all my heart is done, I will save you in hope and in love.
