Sunday morning service.
[0:00] ready. How much are we trying to be like Jesus? How much are we trying to lay aside the things of the world, the flesh, and the devil, and try to be like Jesus Christ? Amen? Like Brother Jesse was talking about earlier, he was taking up what Apostle Paul said. He said, I am crucified with Christ. Nevertheless, I live, and the life that I now live in the flesh, it is no longer I that live it, but Christ is living in me. Amen? That means that Paul lost his identity. Matter of fact, God changed his name. He wasn't Saul anymore of Tarsus, but he was Paul. Can you say amen? He was no longer persecuting the Christians, but he was exhorting them and lifting them up and preaching to them and saying, come on, you can make it. Amen? And he's saying this, if God can save me, who was a murderer, who was a chief of sinners among you, then surely he can save everybody else also that wants to go. Can you say amen? I preached here a while back on the baptism of the Holy Ghost, and I'll just touch on that for just a moment here. Baptism. Baptism. We get baptized on the outside as an indication that we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, having made a good profession of our faith. Yes, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and died for me, and we're following his example. When he went down there at the Jordan River, got baptized of John, then if it was necessary for him to do it, and when he went down there, John says, hey, Lord, said I need to be baptized of you, and you come to be baptized of me, and Jesus said, suffer it that all righteousness might be fulfilled, and I think it was necessary for Jesus to be baptized, and certainly it's necessary for us to be baptized. Amen? But the baptism of that was on the outside.
[1:39] Amen? And there was a type that John said, I baptize you with water into repentance. Amen? That was water into repentance. Amen? That's on the outside, on the outside water, but when you get baptized with the Holy Ghost, that's not an outside thing. That's an inside thing.
[1:54] Amen? Hallelujah. That's why Paul said, I would that your whole spirit, soul, and body, we always say body, soul, and spirit. We start from the outside and go in. God always starts from the inside and goes out. I would that your whole spirit, soul, and body be sanctified and holy. Amen? How many want your whole spirit and soul and body to be holy and sanctified and just set apart for Jesus Christ? Amen?
[2:14] Listen, this thing is winding up. We don't have all those years we used to have. Some of us are getting pretty old, matter of fact, and if we're ever going to crucify our flesh and if we're ever going to get down and do business with our will, if we're ever going to take up our cross and follow Jesus, we need to get under the burden and start doing it now. Can you say amen? So after the initial Holy Ghost baptism, and a lot of folks think, well, I've got it, and that's it, and that's all of it. No, honey, that's just the beginning of it. God has levels, levels of baptisms that he wants to take you through. When Peter and John were there, and even their mother came to him, and one of them said, their mother said, grant that my sons might set one on your right hand and one on your left hand, and Jesus said, that's really not up to me. That's up to my Father in heaven, and they were contending one for another. I want to sit here, just like a bunch of kids. We do the same thing in church. We're supposed to be adults, but we're acting like a bunch of kids, amen? And then Jesus says, are you able to be baptized with that baptism which I am baptized with? Now, these are his words.
[3:17] In other words, he wasn't talking about a water baptism. He wasn't even talking about a Holy Ghost baptism, but there is a baptism of suffering, amen? There is a baptism of suffering that if you want to be where he's at, then what do you think you have to take up a cross for? What is the cross and emblem of? Of suffering and shame, amen? And so there is a, actually there are seven baptisms in scripture, and I'm not going to talk about them, but I'm not even talking about the baptism, but since we're going to baptize, what's your name? Brother Kevin here. After a while, I thought I just might throw that in, but a Jew is not a Jew who is one outwardly, but who is one inwardly, for the circumcision is not of the flesh, but it's of the heart, amen? So, so spirit baptism is not an outward baptism, even though if you have an inward baptism of the spirit, it will manifest itself outwardly through the manifestation of the spirit, which, and, and in the Bible, everybody in the Bible, now they've come up with a new doctrine in these last days, but in the Bible, in Bible days, everybody got the Holy Ghost speaking in tongues. That's what they did. And matter of fact, when I was just a child, everybody got the Holy Ghost down at that little church I went to, they all speak in tongues. And matter of fact, just 35 years ago, when I first got, you know, really got saved, really, really got into, and, and actually knew what church was going to be about, everybody got the Holy Ghost speaking in tongues. But we've got a new doctrine today. You don't have to speak in tongues anymore to get the Holy Ghost. That was for them, them days, and, and it's not for us anymore. Well, honey, if you want to believe that, you just go right ahead, but you came too late to tell me, amen? Because I, Paul said, I'd rather speak five words in a known language that I may teach you than a thousand words or ten thousand words in an unknown tongue. But I thank my God,
[5:02] I speak in tongues more than you all. You know what that means? That means that when Paul wasn't teaching them, and, and, and which he taught, but when he wasn't teaching them, he was speaking in tongues. You know why? Because he's the one who said, he that speaketh unto an unknown tongue don't speaketh unto men, because he's speaking unto God, and in the Spirit he's saying mysteries. And when you speak in an unknown tongue, you're edifying yourself. Everything, everybody, every spirit is out to tear you down, to get you to quit, lose confidence in the preacher, and, and the assistant pastor, and the church, and, and God, and everything else to get you to, to get away from everything, and just go out there, I'll live my own life, because ain't nothing down there but a bunch of hypocrites.
[5:37] Well, honey, we all have come from that, and at times we will all still be, still be hypocrites, amen? But hopefully we will repent, and try not to be hypocrites, and try to be what God's called us to be. Can somebody shout amen? So I want to talk today, not only about the baptism, but I, and, and for every positive thing, there's a negative. There is a baptism of the Holy Ghost, which is the Holy Spirit of God. There is also a baptism of, of an unholy spirit.
[6:03] The Bible said in 1 John 4 and 1, he said, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits, amen? Try the spirits. See whether they be of God. If, if, if the Holy Spirit you claim to have isn't leading you into righteousness and true holiness, then you got a hold of the wrong thing. If it's not leading you to follow Jesus Christ, then you're following the wrong thing, and you got the wrong thing, and honey, it's not too late to turn around if you can conceive what I'm trying to tell you, amen? But if you got the real thing, that when the preacher gets up and starts preaching on holiness and righteousness, and, and, and, you know, by grace are you saved through faith, it's a gift of God, not of works, as any man should boast, amen? So we're saved by grace, and by faith, and not by works, and the, and, and then you go on over there to Titus, and he said, the same grace that, that saved us, teaches us that denying ungodliness and worldliness, that we shall live soberly, and righteously, and godly in this present generation, amen? And, and if, and if your spirit has a problem with that, then you need to check up and see what kind of spirit you're listening to.
[6:56] Can somebody shout amen? Amen. All right. Uh, brother Jesse's reading the book on the powerful voltage of humility, and he told me something last night I hadn't even thought about. I can't hardly, I can't hardly preach when I, when the spirit comes down without me having to cry. But, but, but through those tears, those tears aren't weakness. Those tears are strength. And God takes those tears in the book of Psalms, and he says, he, he said, uh, uh, consider thou my tears, are they not in thy Bible? Are they not written down in thy book? See, Deb, those tears you crowned this morning, honey, you don't know it, but there's an angel of God standing right there beside you. And he's taking those tears, and he's catching them. And, and God writes the book down on Sunday morning, February 23rd, 2003. David was in church, and the spirit of God was moving on her, and she was just weeping tears, and these are those tears that she wept. And then, one of these days, I'm going to tell you what God takes those tears and what he does with them, if it's the Lord's will.
[7:46] Now, we ever get that far. Right now, we're not able to stand that. But, but God don't, God uses those tears. You remember, I get what I'm going to preach to in a minute, if it's Lord's will, but don't, I won't. But you remember when, when, uh, when there was this woman, and Jesus went into this, this Pharisee's house, and this woman came in behind him, and, and began to, to, uh, uh, uh, wash his feet with her tears. See, she read that, and she took it literally. So, she saved her tears. And when she was there, not only was she weeping, because she was sitting at the feet of the one who said in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. She was sitting at the feet of her Messiah. She knew who he was, because he had already forgave her of our sins and cast seven demon spirits out of her. Amen? And she took those tears and began to, to, to wash his feet with the tears, and to wipe them with the hairs of her head. Can you say, man? There's an old song that says tears are a language that God understands. And I found out that any time, if you ever come to the altar and you come to repent, if, if you don't say they're long enough that, that the tears come down, then you haven't got down to where you need to be to repent yet. Amen? Because, and, and this is, there's, this isn't written anywhere. This is what I know, that tears are a sign of repentance and of humility towards
[8:59] God. Amen? That you're realizing that you are nothing, like, like Brother Jeff said last night, I am nothing, I know nothing, and I can do nothing except Jesus Christ, amen, was in me and leading me and helping my mind. Somebody said, hi, you know, uh, who was it?
[9:12] Paul, I think it was Paul, uh, Stephen last night. How do you remember those things? We're talking about remembering scriptures after the church. And honey, unless the Spirit of God opens your mind up to remember a scripture, you won't remember it. For years, I could, I could, you know, maybe quote some scriptures, but I couldn't remember where they were.
[9:28] Anybody else ever have that problem? I've heard them script, but I don't remember where they are. Well, the only way that you do that, God has got to open your mind. That's why God hasn't called everybody to be a preacher. God hasn't called everybody to be a teacher, or an apostle, or an evangelist, or a prophet, amen? So, whatever God has called us to do, we need to be faithful in our calling, do it to the best of our ability, knowing that without God, we'd be the biggest failure that ever took a breath. I want to talk today on, on, on the baptism of the Holy Ghost. We talked about that last time, but, and most people think when they get the baptism of the Holy Ghost, they got it all. Well, honey, a lot of people are baptized with the Holy Ghost. They can speak in tongues, but they don't have the anointing.
[10:06] The anointing. The anointing. How many was the anointing of the Holy Ghost? So that, so that when, so that when you walk in a room, not anything that you've done, but there's something inside of you that, that somebody said, who? The devil knows you there.
[10:21] You know, you know what, you know what, you know what, you know what, the, there were, uh, seven sons of Sceva, and they, they, they had seen Jesus, they had heard about Jesus, and they had seen Paul cast these devils out, and though, so they went over, and, and they, and they, uh, took this man that had this demon spirit, and they said, by the Jesus that Paul preaches, we cast you out, devils, and that demon spirit said, Jesus, I know, and Paul, I know, but you, I don't know. The Bible said, and the demon spirit within that man rent those seven sons.
[10:50] He just tore them up and sent them down the road, scampering off, amen, and when I said that to say this, that Paul was the anointed servant of Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ was the Messiah, which means the anointed one, and now you and I have been called to be the anointed ones of Jesus Christ, so when we walk into a room with that anointing, that every devil in the room knows we're there, amen, hey, you don't, you can't see, you can't see this in the, in the natural, you got to have a spiritual revelation that, that, that, the, the, uh, according to the, the measure of the Holy Ghost that you have is how much power you have, and the only way you're going to get more power is you got to get more Holy Ghost, but brother, man, I thought I got it all when I got it. No, honey, that's not what the Bible says. Let me tell you what Romans 12 and 1 says, 1 through 3. It says, Paul said, I beseech you, brethren, by the mercies of God that you present your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service, and be not conformed to this world, but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is a good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Can you say amen?
[11:53] I need the third verse, Romans 12 and 3, hold on. The devil don't want me to tell you this, and that's why I, I, I, huh? Third verse says, for I say through the grace given to me, to every man, to everyone that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly according as God has dealt to every man the measure of faith. Can you say amen?
[12:30] A measure of faith. You have the Holy Ghost according to the measure which you're able to believe God for. Can you say amen? How many wants more faith? Well, you got to get more faith. You hear more word. Amen. How many wants more Holy Ghost? You hear more word. You use what you got because the Bible said that when the Spirit of God comes upon you, you shall receive power, and that word power is dunamis, or like a dynamo, and if you know anything about a dynamo, the more that you use it, the more power you get. The more you use it, the more power you get. Now, well, first just let me go into what the anointing is for. Let me, let me read a few of my notes here real quick. Last week, I spoke on the baptism, and that wasn't last week. It was about a month ago, but that's not the end, but it's only the beginning of what we do. This week, I'm going to preach on the anointing of the Holy Ghost that God has anointed us for service. Why does God give us the Holy Ghost? For service to serve him. Amen?
[13:22] Because as he is, so are we in this world, and we are to go out and serve him. Can you say amen? We must learn. Yeah. Anoint us for service in his kingdom as kings and priests.
[13:34] How many wants to be a king? How many wants to be a king? How many wants to be a priest?
[13:46] I want to be a king. I want to be a priest. You probably don't want to because you just don't know for sure, and you think I'm trying to trap you into something, but really I'm not.
[13:57] Because when we get to heaven, we're not going to be servants. We're not going to be slaves. We're not going to be peons. We're going to be kings and priests. Amen? And if you're not a king and a priest, you're going to be a bride, which is even higher. You're going to be the bride of the king of kings and the Lord of lords. In 1 Peter 2, 9 and 10, let me just show you what that says real quick.
[14:23] 1 Peter 2, 9 and 10, it says, but ye are, who's ye? Huh? That's us. Amen? But ye are a chosen generation. Who chose us? Did you chose to be saved? No, honey. Jesus told him, he said, you have not chosen me, but I have chosen you and ordained you that you should go forth and bear much fruit. Can you say amen? But ye are a chosen generation. Everybody knows that? What's that next word?
[14:56] Ye are a, oh, wait a minute. Not just a priesthood. We are a royal priesthood. A royal priesthood.
[15:10] I got to get this in my brain now because everybody's moving around so much that y'all knocking me out of the spirit. Trying to teach you something here. A royal priesthood. Now the Old Testament had priests. Amen? But they weren't royal priests. We are a royal, who's a royal priesthood?
[15:29] The devil don't want you to know who you are. The devil don't want you to know that you're chosen. We are chosen. Hey, we didn't just choose Jesus. He went out looking for us. He said, I'll take you.
[15:40] He didn't look at our ability. He looked at somebody that had no ability. And he said, I want to work a miracle in you so that you'll know that when my spirit is in you and my word is quickening to you, that it's not you that did it, but it's me that's living inside of you that did it. Amen?
[15:54] You are a chosen generation. A royal priesthood. A holy nation. A holy nation. Holy. Holy.
[16:08] What does the word holy mean? Good. Righteous. Godly. Sanctified. We are a holy nation. A peculiar.
[16:21] And this word throws you off because that's a bad translation of the word peculiar. A peculiar. You know what the word peculiar actually means? If you go look it up in your Strong's Concordance, it means a purchased possession. We are a purchased possession. Jesus Christ said, you're not your own, but you're bought with a price. Amen? Therefore glorify God in your spirit and in your body, which are Christ's, which belong to him. Can you say amen? We are a purchased possession. We belong to him.
[16:50] And because we belong to him, he has bestowed all these gifts upon us. We're a chosen generation. A royal priesthood. A peculiar people that we should show forth the praises of him who has brought us out of darkness to walk into his marvelous light. What marvelous light? The light of the word of God.
[17:09] David said, thy word, O God, is a light unto my path and a lamp to my feet. Amen? The light. The light. The light. John said, the light shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehended the night. But as many as received him through them gave he power to become the sons of God. Amen?
[17:21] Amen? Amen? We have been born into the kingdom of God, the kingdom of light. We're no longer the kingdom of darkness. First Thessalonians 5, 5th chapter tells you down through there. Amen? No longer the children of darkness. We're the children of the daytime. Amen?
[17:35] Now, we got to learn to trust the Holy Ghost to lead us through our valley experiences and our mountaintop experiences. And we're such whimsical people that when we go through the valley, we think everybody hates us and nobody cares and God don't love us anymore.
[17:53] We just think we'll quit. We're such pitiful, stinking people. We just kind of stink in the nostrils of God. Then when we get up on the mountaintop, we think we are so great. I don't need nothing to nobody. Send that devil up there and I'll punch him in the nose.
[18:06] Everybody I've ever heard testify of that and I've heard that. Give the devil a black eye. Within a month, they're out of the church again. Amen? Because God is the God of the valley and he's got you going through that valley. He's also the God of the mountain. Amen?
[18:18] And you can only stand in the valley or in the mountain as he strengthens you and lets you stand there. And it's a privilege for him to let you stand anywhere because if any one of us got what we deserve, we'd split hell wide open.
[18:30] Can you say amen? Hallelujah. So we got to learn to trust God whether we're in the valley, whether we're in the mountaintop. We need the Holy Ghost to teach us. You need the Holy Ghost to teach you.
[18:43] I hate to say this, but in most Pentecostal churches today, the majority of the people in the churches are high school dropouts, of whom I was one myself.
[18:57] Amen? And if I only had the knowledge that I had when I dropped out of high school, I'd be above all men most dumb. But because Jesus Christ gave me the Holy Spirit of God to lead me into this Word of God, He educated me.
[19:12] Amen? I was with a man the other day, and this man, he gave me a great honor. And this man was a minister. He told somebody, he said, this is a doctor of the Word of God.
[19:26] Now what that means is, this is somebody who has studied, not a novice, but knows the Word of God and knows how to apply. I didn't say anything. But I thought, Lord, you're allowing this man to give this honor on me, and I know that it's not me.
[19:41] It's not me. I can't remember John 3, 16, Acts 2, 38, Romans 10, 9, and 10. None of those. I can't remember anything. I don't know anything. I'm nothing, God. It's you. It's all you. It's all about you.
[19:52] So if you do start to learn something, if God does pull off the scales off your eyes so that you can say, remember, it's not you doing it. Amen?
[20:03] You got to get a desire. Get a desire for the Word of God. First thing you got to do is just learn the books of the Bible. It's only 66. You need to learn those books so that when the preacher says go to Acts 2, 38, or 1 Timothy 16, or 2 Peter, you won't be looking over the Old Testament.
[20:22] You'll go to the New Testament and find out what's that. Amen? Learn those things. You got to start out. But you got to get your mind in the process of learning. Somebody said, but I thank God I'm out of school, man. I don't have to take no more teaching or have to study or anything.
[20:34] That's where you're wrong. Amen? If you're going to be a king, you got to know how to rule. Every one of us are kings in our houses, in our homes.
[20:46] Amen? We got to know how to rule our homes. Hey, that's our universe. We got to know how to pay our bills. We got to know how to instruct our children and to order them in the right way, that, you know, point them in the way that they should go so when they grow up they won't depart from it.
[21:01] Amen? We got all these things that we have to do, and it's just a continual learning process from the cradle to the grave. And I heard somebody say here a while back, and this is an old song that I heard years and years and years ago, when I've learned enough to really live, when I've learned enough to really enjoy my salvation, then I'm old enough to die.
[21:25] Amen? Hopefully you'll learn enough before it's your time to go that you can enjoy who you are and what God has done for you in Jesus Christ. Amen? So we need the Holy Spirit to teach us how.
[21:39] How to make peace? We all know how to make war, don't we? Or we think we do. We know how to make war with everybody else, but we don't know how to make war with the devil. That way that you make war with the devil is you start living right for God, and then the devil will automatically come to your house, knock it on your door.
[21:54] You want to fight? And then you've got to make a choice. I'll either fight or I'll run. Amen? But if you've got the Holy Spirit of God in you, you won't run, you'll fight. We need the Holy Ghost to teach us how to fight.
[22:04] We need the Holy Ghost to teach us how to pray. For you know not what to pray for us. You offer the Spirit of God, making intercession with you with groanings which cannot be uttered. For he that searches the heart knows the mind of the Spirit, and he makes intercession according to the will of the Father. Can you say amen?
[22:15] We need the Holy Spirit to teach us how to pray. We don't know how to pray as we ought to pray. Can somebody say amen? Listen, we need the Holy Ghost, amen, to teach us how to live because when people get saved, they really don't know how to live.
[22:29] We need the Holy Ghost to teach us how to love. How to love. The Bible said if you just love them that love you, you're no different than the world.
[22:41] Jesus said, here, love your enemies. Love them who would abuse you and despitefully use you and do all manner of evil things against you. Amen? That's why, that's why, and he taught it to his disciples.
[22:54] When Stephen was being stoned to death, he looked up into heaven and calling out to God, he said, Jesus, Lord Jesus, lay not this sin to their charge.
[23:06] That's why Jesus taught it. Stephen lived it. What would Jesus say when he's hanging on the cross? He said, Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.
[23:17] Amen? Love them who hate you. We can't even love our brother sitting on the neck, the end of the seat from us. Amen? Sometimes somebody sits down on the seat before we get up and change seats, get on the other side of the church. Brethren, these things ought not to be.
[23:31] Can you say amen? Amen? Hallelujah. Hallelujah. The Greek word for anoint is karee-o. K-H-R-E-E-Dash-O. It means to smear or to rub with oil.
[23:44] It means to consecrate for service or office of a prophet, a priest, or king. See, God has not called you to be a peon. God has called you to be a prophet or a priest or a king.
[23:58] Listen, how many would like to be a prophet? How many would like to prophesy? Well, that's why nobody's prophesying.
[24:09] We've only got three people, four people here that said amen. They want to, listen, we should covet. The Bible says, when it tells you to covet, covet to prophesy. Covet to prophesy. Say, covet the better gifts.
[24:22] What's a better gift? What's the better? Speaking in tongues is a great gift. It is a gift of God. But he that speaks in an unknown tongue edifies himself. But he that prophesies edifies the church. So when you prophesy, we need to seek to prophesy.
[24:35] Now, how are you going to do that? It takes faith. It takes you getting in the word of God and talking to Jesus and hearing him talk back to you. And then when the service comes and the Holy Ghost is never out of order at the right time, you can stand up and say, yeah, I say unto thee, thus saith the Lord God.
[24:52] And then you can begin to prophesy what God has told you to say. Now you think, well, what if it's wrong? Well, you won't be the first one that's ever been wrong. I'll guarantee you that. And you won't be the last one that gets up and prophesies that that's wrong either.
[25:05] But what if it's right? What if God has given you a message for the church and we need to hear it and you won't tell it? Then the blood's going to be on your hands. Amen. God has not called you just to sit on the pew and be an average, ordinary like the rest of the church world.
[25:20] God has called us and anointed us. We are anointed to be prophets and priests and kings. Can you say amen? What does that mean?
[25:31] I hope you leave this place today saying I can't come back to church next week like I was this week. I've got to do something different. I've got to start reading my Bible. I've got to start praying more. I've got to, you know, whatever it's going to take, whatever it's going to take to get me to that place.
[25:43] I've got to get there. I've got to get there. It's got to be something of desperation inside of us crying out, I've got to get there. I've got to reach that place. Brother man talks about a thirtyfold, sixtyfold, a hundredfold. God, I might just be tenfold, but God, I want to go to a hundredfold.
[25:55] Amen. I even want to go to a hundred and twentyfold. Give me all the way past the top. Can you say amen? Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. I read across the scripture this day and it said that we may know what the inheritance of the saints is in light.
[26:10] Now that scripture doesn't mean anything. I've read it a thousand times unless the spirit of God opens your understanding. What is the meaning of the inheritance? What inheritance do you have in light? What inheritance do you have in light?
[26:22] What has light got to do with your inheritance? Except there's one glory of the sun, one glory of the moon, and one glory of the stars. There's one star different from another star in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead. Hey, I am laying up for me an inheritance.
[26:36] Amen. My father's already paid the price and when I get there I can decide do I want to just twinkle like a little star? Do I only want to shine when the sun and the moon are gone?
[26:47] Or do I want to come out like a moon glory? Man, on a bright night you get that fall moon that big old harvest moon it looks like it's so big. Amen. I love them old harvest moons.
[26:57] They're beautiful moons. They'll come out and they'll shine bright and it looks like it's daytime all day long. But then you know what? When the sunlight comes out whoo, hallelujah, then the, hey, then the old one that's been borrowing his life from the sun he kind of fades back because of greater than he that's there.
[27:13] Amen. It's up to you whether you want to shine as a star or as a moon or as a sun. That is our inheritance of the saints in life and what do you want? How bad do you want it? How bad do you want it?
[27:25] Matthew 13, 43 and the righteous shall shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their father. Didn't cost you anything just throw that in. Amen. Chosen generation, royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people people.
[27:37] To anoint means to touch, to stroke, to spread, to smear, to consecrate, to pour oil on.
[27:49] You know what they did in the Old Testament when they anointed a priest and they consecrated him? They took a horn of oil and they poured it on his head and then it ran down his beard and onto his body all the way down to his feet who's the head of the church?
[28:09] Christ is the head of the church. Amen. He is the anointed one. Amen. All right. He's been anointed of the father. That anointing don't stop with him. He didn't want it to stop with him. He's going to make sure it don't stop. It don't stop just with the head.
[28:21] It flows all the way down to the body, all the way down to the feet so that the smallest, the littlest, the newest newborn person in church can still be anointed. Amen. Hey, if my head is anointed on my body, then my little toe's anointed on my body.
[28:35] Amen. Because it's all part of the body. We're all anointed. But the devil don't want you to know that you're anointed. You're nothing. You're nobody. You can't do nothing. You're always making mistakes. Honey, that's because we're listening to the devil and not listening to God.
[28:48] I can do all things because Jesus Christ is in me. I am more than a conqueror. There's nothing that's impossible to me because I am a child of God and he's my father and he said all these things that you can have if you just walk up right before me.
[29:02] No good thing will I withhold from you. Henceforth, you've asked me nothing. He said if you ask anything in my name, I'll give it to you. Can you say amen? But not if we're babies, but when we begin to grow up and mature.
[29:15] Can you say amen? Hallelujah. In the book of Matthew 10, 7 and 8, it says, and as you go, preach. Let me turn over and read that. Matthew 10, 7 and 8. Now who's he talking to?
[29:27] Who's he talking to? He's talking to the preacher. No, we all have a ministry. We all have a ministry to preach.
[29:40] Not from the pulpit, but our lives. Our lives should be a ministry to everybody we come in contact with. That we're different. That we're different.
[29:52] That there's something happened. There's something transpired inside of us and we're different. Listen to what it says here. Matthew 10, 7 and 8. It says, and as you go, preach. What am I going to preach? It's that the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
[30:05] Heal the sick. Who? Me? Who? Me? Yeah. Once you realize that you're anointed, heal the sick. What's the next thing say?
[30:17] Cleanse the lepers. Raise the dead. Cast out devils. Freely you have received. Freely give. When do we get this power? Where does this power come from? After that the Holy Ghost has came upon you, you shall receive power.
[30:31] Can you say amen? Hey, to be witnesses. Power to become witnesses. What does the word witness mean? Somebody tell me real quick. The word witness means to be a martyr. And a martyr is one who lays down his life for what he believes.
[30:45] Do we have a power to be a martyr today? Do we have power to lay our life down for what we believe? Is the truth word of God? Ask yourself, do you have that power?
[31:02] We're supposed to have. But do we lay any part of our life down? Do we withhold anything from this old man?
[31:17] And the sad thing is, most of the time the answer is no. We won't deny ourself, our flesh.
[31:29] Amen? Amen? As you go preach, and when you're preaching, you're going to anoint people. To anoint, rub them with oil.
[31:42] They're talking about getting oil on our hands. You can't see it, but we all have oil on our hands. You know why? Because we are an anointed vessel. What did God tell Ananias when he's up on his house praying?
[31:53] He said, go down there and pray for Paul because he is an anointed vessel unto me. Paul said, he didn't know he was anointed. He has been a chosen vessel to me. He's anointed. He's appointed.
[32:04] Amen? You and I are also anointed and appointed to go out and to anoint other people and especially other brothers that don't know what we know to get them to a closer walk with Jesus.
[32:16] Amen? That allusion? Mark 16, 15 through 20. And I'm just, because I'm running out of time, let me just tell you what that says. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.
[32:27] He that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs are going to follow them that believe. Do you believe? Are these signs following you? Do you believe? Are the signs following you?
[32:40] Do you believe? I can't get any answers either way. You know what that tells me? We like some belief because these signs shall follow them that believe in my name.
[32:54] Shall they do what? What's the very first thing they're going to do in his name? No, no. Speak with new tongues, isn't it? Huh? Cast that devil? What's the second one? Oh, speak with new tongues.
[33:07] Now let me ask you a question. We all want to run out and find somebody with the devil and cast the devil out of. Hey, charity starts at home. Won't you cast the devil out of yourself first?
[33:19] Can I say that one more time? Yeah. Brother Dan, you can't have a devil because I'm saved. What is that making you act like you act like sometimes when you're throwing that fit?
[33:30] That ain't the spirit of God inside of you. When you're just a you're just a railing maniac because somebody did something that just upset your world and you're... Before we can go out and cast the devil out of anybody else, we got to make sure that our heart is right.
[33:45] Amen? We got to get we got to get the spirit of God that are living, moving, working, anointing inside of us. And if it won't work inside of us, honey, you'll never work it anywhere else. If you can't live right, you can't go out and tell somebody else how to live right.
[33:59] You want to tell them, you know, don't do as I do, do as I say. That ain't worth a dime. That ain't worth a dime. Amen? Paul said, follow me as I follow Christ.
[34:10] And that's what it's all about. Tell people, follow me as I follow Christ. Amen? Let me take you to somebody, my Lord, that's able to heal every weakness, take care of every sin problem you ever had, able to restore your home.
[34:22] Amen? But it won't do it in your oath, man. He's going to do it in your new man because the old man, according to Romans 6, is crucified with Christ. But the new man is renewed daily after the image of Jesus Christ.
[34:35] Amen? Renewed daily. How's it going to be renewed daily if we don't ever read our Bible, if we don't ever pray, if we just think, well, you know, I'm hunky-nunky, okay, all right. Amen? Can I get an amen?
[34:46] Let me hurry along here. I'm about through here. Luke 4, 1 and 2. Luke 4, 4, 2 and 3. This is what this says.
[34:57] I'm not going to get to preach all this this morning, but I'll get a little bit of it here. And Jesus, now this is right after John had baptized him and he's been in the wilderness 40 days and 40 nights fasting and he's overcame the temptations of the devil and now he's coming out of, you know, the angels have ministered to him and now he's coming out and he's ready to preach the gospel.
[35:20] Amen? Here's where it starts off at. Lost my place here. Here it is. And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost. Now, how many of you know that we get the Spirit of God by measure?
[35:33] You don't give a kid a loaded gun. Amen? We get the Spirit of God by measure. Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost and being full of the Spirit returned from Jordan and was led by the...
[35:46] Wait a minute. And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness being 40 days tempted of the devil and in those days he did eat nothing and afterwards, after they were ended he afterwards hungered.
[35:58] Amen? Now, I don't want to elaborate on that. Let's go on down to the 14th verse. And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit.
[36:10] How many of you know you can have the Spirit without the power? You can have the Spirit and not have the... You can have the Holy Ghost and not have the anointing. You can have the Holy Ghost and not have the power.
[36:24] Because after the power has come upon you you're going to be witness and crucify your flesh. And here we are we've had to go Holy Ghost 40, 50 years and we still haven't crucified our flesh. So we need to get it.
[36:35] We need to get this little simple teaching here that we've heard teaching on the Holy Ghost forever and ever and ever. Amen. Mama, you need to get your baby. I love babies but this ain't the time for me to be out here running around. Get my mind off what I'm trying to tell you here.
[36:46] What does it say here? Listen. And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit unto Galilee and there went out a fame of Him throughout all the region around about. And He taught in their synagogues being glorified of all.
[36:58] And He came to the Nazareth where He had been brought up. And as was His custom He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and He stood up for to read. And there was delivered unto Him the book of the prophet Isaiah and when He had opened the book He found the place where it was written The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because He had anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor.
[37:21] He had sent me to heal the brokenhearted to preach deliverance to the captives and the recovering of sight to the blind to set at liberty them that are bruised to preach the acceptable year of the Lord. Can somebody shout amen?
[37:32] And He closed the book and when He had again gave it to the minister again and He sat down. Let me just elaborate to you what God gave me here on some of this stuff. John 3.11 He said And John said I truly baptize you with the Holy Ghost but there's one coming after me whose shoes I'm not worthy don't latch.
[37:50] He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire. Amen. Acts the first chapter and the fifth verse says John truly baptized you with the Holy Ghost with water but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
[38:05] Amen. Matthew 28.19 said after you get this Holy Ghost then you are to go teach all nations commanding them to be baptized in the name of the Father and Son and the Holy Ghost. Amen. And lo I am with you always even to the ends of the world.
[38:16] Can somebody shout amen today? Amen. And then John 14.12 He said the works that I do shall you do also and then greater works are you going to do because I go to my Father. Greater works are you going to do.
[38:26] Amen. See Jesus could have done it all but he didn't want to do it all. He wanted us. He wants his children. Amen. How many want your children to come up and walk in your footsteps and be a man or a woman of God and minister to the lost and dying world or to minister to a lost and sick body of Christ?
[38:45] Can somebody say amen? Hallelujah. That's what it in Acts 19 and 6 that's going to kind of blow your mind. A lot of people want to tell you that you need to go and tarry for the Holy Ghost.
[39:00] Matter of fact Luke 23 and 54 I think it is said and tarry you in Jerusalem this is what Jesus told his disciples and tarry you in Jerusalem until you be with power from on high or until you receive the promise of the Father.
[39:15] Amen. And tarry you in Jerusalem until you receive the promise of the Father. Can you say amen? And how many knows that Jesus was crucified and on the third day he came forth out of the grave and for 40 days and 40 nights he walked the land of Israel.
[39:33] Amen. And he was seen by many different people and one time above over 400 people at one time. And then on the 40th day Jesus is walking outside of Jerusalem and he tells you Matthew 28 18 and 19 and 20 and he tells you Mark 16 and 16 through 22 and he tells you Acts and that's where I'm going to take off right now.
[39:55] Acts 1 and 8 you shall receive power if the Holy Ghost come upon you and Jesus they're walking outside of Jerusalem and as he began to tell them these things all of a sudden a cloud came down and received him up out of their sight. And two men said stood there dressed in white apparel said you men of Galilee he said why stand you gazing here into heaven this same Jesus whom you have crucified God has made both Lord and Christ that's what Peter said he said he said this same Jesus whom you have seen go away shall so come again in like manner as you see him go.
[40:25] Coming again. Coming again. Coming again. We was having a service down there that's when I was in down at Calhoun but John Brackett got up he was getting anointed and he was preaching a little bit and he said something about being Jesus he said now I don't want y'all thinking I think I'm Jesus and I said wait a minute I think I'm Jesus if my people called by my name what was his name somebody tell me what's his name or who's his people so whose name what is your name amen and he said I give you power did he not say I give you power over all sicknesses and diseases that to heal the sick to cleanse the lepers to cast out devils did he not say that did he not say the works that I do shall you do also and greater works shall you go to my father did he not say hey but to do these things tear you in Jerusalem until you be endued with power from on high amen and the same cloud that took me away is going to come back and take you away amen 1st Thessalonians 4th chapter 16 17th and 18th verse amen the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout with the voice of the archangel the trump of God the dead in Christ shall rise first to meet the Lord in the air amen to meet the Lord in the cloud and so shall we ever be with the Lord in the air though there's going to be immediate we all know that don't we but we forget we forget we forget who we are we forget what God has provided for us listen
[41:52] I just want to relate the anointing that was upon him this is what he says here the spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach now the word preach there's different manifestations of preachers some get up here and they just snort and jump and holler and you know I remember the old time preachers every time they took they said something and I don't know how they did it it was the anointing that was on them you couldn't do it without the anointing you know and they would just you know just and just go on and on and on then there's others that stand there and they don't have that same anointing but they're anointed but they don't have that kind of anointing and man they speak words but man you know that they've been with God and God gave them a message for you but it's the same anointing just in a different manifestation of it there's only one Holy Spirit of God amen hallelujah all right now he said the Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach who's he going to preach to the gospel to the poor who's poor to those that are poor in spirit amen to the poor to the fallen to those that are crouching when I looked this up and I saw the word fallen and I looked it up it said crouching
[42:58] I could just see people we were down at New Orleans last week we went down to this God forsaken section called called the French Quarter it's it's it's a just a demon infested slum and and and every perverted thing goes down through there but but I could just imagine seeing people over that have fallen have fallen and and they're crouching and they're and and they're cringing it it it it yes we all have can you say amen he he to preach deliverance to the captives when were we captive when we were held captive in sin by the devil amen Jesus Christ came to to preach deliverance unto us and to proclaim the day of the Lord amen he said the recovering of sight to the blind you know most well sinners do not realize that they're blind a lot of Christians even after they should have their eyes open are still blind they they can't see the good in people they can only see the bad they can't see the working of the spirit of God in the service they're just they come in they come into church kind of like this and they walk out that same way blind but God wants to preach us thus to preach the recovering of sight to the blind so that we can get the scales off of our eyes and see the word of God and know how to apply that to us amen hallelujah he said to set at liberty them that are bruised the word bruised means crushed and broken asunder it said it means to preach the acceptable year of the Lord do you know what the year of the Lord is jubilee jubilee he said there would be seven sevens and in the bible days people could if you run out of money and you run on hard times you could go to somebody and if it got bad enough you could even indenture yourself you could become their servant because you couldn't make it on your own but on the year of jubilee on the 50th year amen hallelujah everybody was free released from everything and everybody got a fresh start aren't you glad that one time we were indentured to the devil we owed our soul to the company store amen but Jesus Christ came by and he purchased our salvation and he put us and he said now son said you're free whom the son has set free is free indeed take up your cross and come on and follow me can you say amen hallelujah he set us free once like a bird in prison I dwelt no freedom from my sorrow

[48:06] I ain't saying that you won't fall into sin every now and then but honey you fall in sin all the time you're planning on it amen hallelujah don't cost you anything hallelujah but God wants us to have a spiritual education so that we can know who we are and what we are and what is mine I've been pastoring here for June will be 17 years and some of you that have been with me before that time may have seen me go through a valley experience I remember one time the last valley I can remember out here was back when my mother was still alive and she died back in 93 April 93 and we had Mother's Day up here and on that Mother's Day there wasn't about three or four people came out and my spirit hit the pit I preached to that two or three that was here and I thought my mom was down there and I'm not going to get to be with her today and I was going out to Sheffersville to have dinner with Charlene
[49:21] Charlene Phillips man everything was in me it says keep this truck headed toward home you're going down Interstate 65 that's where I used to go home keep on going home keep on going home I was in the pits I went to Charlene's and had dinner with her and came back that night and that night I preached on and most of them I can't remember what I preached on I can't tell you what I preached on last week but I can remember this because this is the last big valley I was really in what I preached on Brother Darrell Brother Darrell even remembers watch them dogs watch them dogs sister even the whole church could see the spirit was on me because honey my heart wasn't in it I mean I had felt my feelings were hurt I felt like the church had let me down I was blaming everybody instead of seeing seeing that God you're the head did the church not let you down when you needed somebody to stand by you the most of your own disciples turned against you and even
[50:30] Peter followed you far off and only John stayed with you when everybody else went away only the women few women hung around see but I couldn't think that my mind wouldn't let me think that no no no no I was under the influence of another spirit a self pity spirit if I want to feel sorry for myself you party amen sister tree was up there trying to pray for me and trying to get me out of that thing there wasn't a hope for it I didn't want to get out of it tell you the truth I was mad I wanted to be mad and couldn't nobody change that but Jesus Christ and when he said oh boy you've had enough get over this pity party and stand up and you know like the
[51:31] Bible quit you like men be a man and quit acting like that but I never got out of church I never missed a service I just kept on coming amen hey that was part of my spiritual growth and my moral development amen it's times it's the hard times that make you what you are when everybody ain't bragging on you say brother man you're so good that honey you don't need nobody to brag on you if you know your heart and you know you're trying to serve God that's all that counts that's all that matters so nothing else matter at all amen I mentioned this last week and I mentioned it one more time in closing today but power to impart spiritual gifts Lord willing next time I preach I'll go that way and if the Lord don't take me that way I'll go some other way but doesn't that sound plumb like blasphemy that you had the power to get somebody the
[52:34] Holy Ghost doesn't that sound silly brother Jesse called and told what was he doing last night brother Jesse why did you run up there and tell him last! I just felt the spirit of the Lord all over me and I just got up there and said I've heard tell that he can give this thing away and I feel the spirit that everybody needs it needs to go a new level a new place to where they can see the word that's being preached so they can hear it that it can penetrate their souls then they can hear it it becomes the power to live it when we get out there and I just love God today there's an old song that says we've got the power in the name of Jesus amen honey you do not know the devil has our minds blinded to what God has already prepared for us in this life that the power that is at our disposal that we can use it anytime we want to use it that we don't ever have to be defeated amen we don't ever have to back up and give place to the devil because greater is he that's in me than he that's in the world give the
[53:44] Lord a good hand to Brother Darrell this morning
