Saturday night service.
[0:00] or resurrection, or the crucifixion, or the tomb, or the triumphant entry, or the cleansing of the temple, or the seven last things of Jesus from the cross.
[0:10] And after 15 or 20 or 25 years, you know, you're not careful, you're going to wind up saying something you already said before. But you know what I found out? Just because you preached it don't mean anybody heard what you said.
[0:23] Amen? Amen. I've never heard this preached on tonight, so you're going to be hearing it for the first time. Mr. Jameson, Foster, and Brown helped me with this. You might know them, gentlemen.
[0:37] Four times Jesus was mocked. Can somebody say amen? Amen. Hallelujah. Mocked. The word mocked means to show or express scorn or contempt for.
[0:50] It means to ridicule, to imitate, or mimic. It means to defy, or jeer at, or sneer at. It means to be a sham or a false imitation, or be a fake.
[1:02] Can you say amen? Turn with me to the book of John, the 19th chapter. Press out John 19. John 19. Now for those of you that aren't too up to date on it, that's New Testament.
[1:16] It's right after Luke and right before Acts. If you've got a date, it's on page 118. We're going to get you right downtown there. Can somebody say amen?
[1:28] Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Thank you, Jesus. Isn't God good? You know he is. He wouldn't have took the time to save someone like me or someone like you.
[1:38] Amen? Amen? Even the Apostle Paul who wrote two-thirds of the New Testament, he says, he says, I was the chief of sinners. When I think I'm pretty bad, I think, well, Lord, I hadn't really as of yet, you know, condoned anybody killing anybody else like the Apostle Paul did the stoning of Stephen.
[1:56] So I haven't done it in the physical, but maybe in the spiritual I have, and I'm still just as guilty. Amen? Amen? How many tonight would say I might have been guilty of murdering someone's reputation?
[2:07] Amen? Amen? Talking about somebody when they shouldn't have. Amen? Well, that's what they were doing to Jesus. They were trying to murder his reputation. In John 19, just let me read here a little bit.
[2:19] This is the story, part of the story of Easter because it's a little bit longer than just one page, place where I'm going to be reading.
[2:31] John 19, beginning in the first verse. Then Pilate, therefore, took Jesus and he scourged him. That means he whipped him with a platted piece of leather that had nine ends on it.
[2:45] They call it the cat and nine tails. So each time they lashed him. They lashed him. How many times? How many? 39 times.
[2:56] Amen? You know why? Why 39? Why not 40? Because it was against the law to lash somebody 40 times. But then they lashed him 39 times.
[3:07] One thing is there's 39 major diseases. Amen? That they have discovered in the world. But then each time they lashed him, there was nine tails off of that whip that was also lashing him at the same time.
[3:21] So how much is nine times 39? Ten times 40 would be 400.
[3:32] So you know it's a little bit less than 400. Huh? 341. Amen? 341 times. That's why when you read in the Bible, and when you, especially when you studied out and began to study about the crucifixion and how cruel it really was, that Jesus, they said that you could look and you could see his lungs and his inward parts through his skeleton, through his frame, through his ribs.
[3:58] You say, well, they couldn't do that to anybody and they live. Let me take you downtown to the hospital and let me show you that Marie stood right there and looked down at her insides all laying open. And her heart and her lungs and her liver and all that stuff laying open, trying to heal from the inside out.
[4:13] So yes, it is possible. Amen? Except that she had the nurses and doctors and everything and she's going to live, but Jesus was born to die. It says here, Then Pilate therefore took Jesus and he scourged him and the soldiers planted a crowd of thorns and put it on his head and they put on him a purple robe and said, Hail, king of the Jews!
[4:36] And they smote him with their hands. Pilate therefore went forth again and he said unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in them. Then came Jesus forth wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe.
[4:55] I forgot to tell you, if you've got your cell phone on, turn it off. If you're talking, Samantha. Now it's time to be quiet, honey. You can talk all the time. We're singing and shouting and hooping and hollering.
[5:06] Amen. Amen. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man. Can somebody shout amen? Behold the man. When the chief priest therefore and officer saw him, they cried out saying, Crucify him!
[5:21] Crucify him! Pilate saith unto him, Take him away and crucify him, for I find no fault in him. The Jews answered him, We have a law and by our law he ought to die because he made himself the son of God.
[5:35] Why should he die? Because he made himself the son of God. When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid and went again into the judgment hall and he saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou?
[5:47] But Jesus gave him no answer. Then Pilate saith unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? Knowest thou not that I have the power to crucify thee and the power to release thee? Then Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except that were given thee from above.
[6:04] Therefore he that delivered me unto thy hands, delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin. And from henceforth Pilate sought to release him. But the Jews cried out saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar's friends.
[6:20] Whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar. When the Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth and he set him in the judgment seat in a place that is called the pavement. But in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.
[6:32] And it was the preparation of the Passover in about the sixth hour. And he said unto the Jews, Behold your king. But they cried, Away with him! Away with him!
[6:43] Crucify him! Pilate said unto them, Shall I crucify your king? The chief priest answered, We have no king but Caesar. Then delivered him to be therefore unto them to be crucified.
[6:54] And they took Jesus and he led him away. And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of the skull, which is in the Hebrew tongue, Golgatha.
[7:05] When there they crucified him and two others with him. One on the one side and Jesus in the midst. And Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross. And the writing was Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.
[7:18] This title then read, Many of the Jews. For the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city. And it was written in Hebrew and Greek and Latin. Then said the chief priest to the Jews, to Pilate.
[7:28] Write not the king of the Jews, but that he said, I am the king of the Jews. Pilate answered, What I have written, I have written. Then the soldiers. When they had crucified, Jesus took his garments and made four parts to every soldier apart.
[7:41] And also his coat. Now the coat was without seam woven from the top to the bottom. They said, Therefore amongst themselves, Let us not rend debt, but let us cast lots for it. Whose that it shall be, that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among themselves.
[7:55] And for my vesture they did cast lots. These things, therefore, the soldiers did. Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother and his mother's sister Mary, the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.
[8:08] When Jesus, therefore, saw his mother and the disciples standing by whom he loved, he said unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son. Then saith he to the disciples, Behold thy mother. And from that hour that disciple took her into his own home.
[8:20] After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, he saith, I thirst. And there was a vessel set full of vinegar. And they filled it a sponge with vinegar and put it up on a hyssop and lifted it up to his mouth.
[8:36] When Jesus, therefore, had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished. And he bowed his head and he gave up the ghost. The Jews, therefore, because it was a preparation that the bodies could not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath day, for the Sabbath day was a high day, besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, that they might be taken away.
[8:55] Then came the soldiers and they break the legs of the first and of the others crucified with him. But when they come to Jesus and saw that he was dead already, they break not his legs.
[9:06] Can you say amen? But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side and forthwith came there out blood and water. And he that saw it bear record and the record is true.
[9:18] And he knoweth that he saith, that he saith is true that you might believe. For these things were done that the scripture might be fulfilled. A bone of him shall not be broken.
[9:29] And again, another scripture saith, They look on him whom they perished. And after this, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly, for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus.
[9:42] And Pilate gave him leave. And he came, therefore, and took the body of Jesus. And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night and besought, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds weight.
[9:54] Then took they the body of Jesus and wound it in linen clothes, and with the spices as the manner of the Jews is to bury. And now in the place where he was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new sepulcher wherein was never man yet laid.
[10:08] There they laid Jesus. Therefore, because of the Jews, preparation for the sepulcher was nigh at hand. Let's bow here to go to the Lord in prayer. Lord Jesus, we thank you, Lord God, for the precious word tonight. Lord, each year, Lord God, we go over this resurrection morning service, and Lord God, the Passover and all these things that led up to your crucifixion.
[10:26] And Lord, each year, Lord, it's brought back to us new and fresh again. And Lord Jesus, that we can have an appreciation for what you have done for us. Lord, we love you. We praise you. We magnify you. We glorify you tonight, Lord.
[10:37] Your word is already blessed and anointed. But Father, we pray that you would bless and anoint our minds, Lord, and our hearts to receive your precious word, Lord God, that we might be fruit-bearing Christians in the name of Jesus. And everybody say amen.
[10:49] Hallelujah. Hallelujah. The first time that Jesus was mocked, he was mocked by the passersby. Turn with me to Matthew 27 and 38. Somebody shout Matthew 27? Now, that's still in the New Testament.
[11:01] Verse 38. 38 through 40. Let's read what it says here. If you've got a date, it's on page 32.
[11:14] Then there were two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand and another on the left. And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads and saying, Thou that destroyest the temple and buildest it in three days, save thyself.
[11:32] Now, who was it that said this? And they that passed by. Can somebody say passed by? How many people do you suppose passed by Jesus that day?
[11:48] Saying that thou destroyest the temple and buildest it again in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross. Likewise also. But I want to stop right there.
[12:02] 38 through 40. So Jesus was mocked by the everyday people just passing by. Go with me to Mark 15 now. Somebody shout Mark 15, page 54.
[12:13] Amen? Mark 15. By the passersby. Passersby. Maybe they were going into Jerusalem. Maybe they were leaving Jerusalem.
[12:24] But they're just passing by. But you know what? Isn't it odd that the passersby had already knew what he said? He said, destroy this temple and in three days I'll raise it up again.
[12:36] Hey, he said, if you can do that. Come on down off that cross. They mocked him. The word mock means to show or express scorn or contempt for.
[12:51] In the book of Mark, the 15th chapter and the 28th verse. On the wrong page here.
[13:01] It says, and the scripture was fulfilled which said he was numbered with the transgressors. And they that passed by. Just people walking. Hey, that he hadn't done anything to.
[13:12] They had just passed by. Just walking down the street. Wagging their heads. And saying, ah. Thou that destroyest the temple and build it in three days.
[13:24] Save thyself and come down from the cross. Save thyself and come down from the cross. Mark 14. Flip back a page there.
[13:34] Mark 14 and verses 58 through 16. We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands.
[13:45] And within three days I will build another made without hands. But neither so did their witness agree together. And the high priest stood up in the midst and asked Jesus saying, Answerest thou nothing?
[14:00] What is it which these witness against thee? Amen. In other words, what they said, he really did say it. But they taken it all out of context.
[14:12] Have you ever served anybody to read the Bible and take it out of context? They get it all mixed up. I often say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Especially a little knowledge of the word of God. Because you think you're saved and maybe you're not saved.
[14:25] You think they've got the Holy Ghost and maybe you do and maybe you don't. And maybe it's not the real thing. Because there can't be a black without a white and in without an out. And up without a down. A real without a fake.
[14:37] A Christ without an anti-Christ. Or an anti-Christ without a real Christ. Can you say amen? Hallelujah. And the passers-by. Just people passing down the street. This is one of the distorted sayings.
[14:52] That he saved himself. But others he can't save. So the passers-by. I wonder what people said when we passed by.
[15:03] Walking up and down the streets. And I had the music up. When he could have walked away, he chose the cross. And all the kids walking up and down the street carrying the little cross. When we were passing by.
[15:14] I guarantee you some of them were wagging their heads. And in contempt and scorned. That was they looked at those bunch of idiots. People who were waiting to get by because the children would block the street.
[15:30] And look at them bunch of idiots. Probably said a whole lot worse than that. We couldn't hear them, but none of them blowed their horn. But no doubt, as we were passing by. As we passed by every house that we went by.
[15:42] Every house that somebody was. Every house that somebody ran up and gave them a brochure. We were giving them a living testimony that Jesus Christ is alive.
[15:53] And they had to choose either to accept him. Or to wag their heads. And with contempt. Say, I don't want you Jesus.
[16:07] I don't want your Jesus. That's good because I'll take him. And I'll take my share. And I'll take your share too. Can you say amen? The second time. Matthew 21 and 15.
[16:23] It says that. The chief priests, the scribes, and the Pharisees. How many is that?
[16:33] Chief priests, scribes, and Pharisees. First thing we get here, we get a three-fold witness of what they're going to do. Now here's what the chief priests, scribes, and Pharisees did. In Matthew 27 and 41.
[16:45] And I'm going to the other place too, but. I'm going to this place first. Matthew 27 and 41. Here's what he said. Likewise also the chief priests mocking him.
[16:58] Now what are they doing? The chief priests. That means that the preachers. The heads of the synagogues. The heads of the Jewish religion.
[17:11] Mocking him with the scribes and the Pharisees. And the elders said. He saved others. Himself he cannot save. If he be the king of Israel, let him now come down from the cross.
[17:24] And we'll believe him. Think about it. Think about it. They tell a half truth. If he be the king.
[17:35] If he be the king. Let him come down from the cross and we'll believe him. Now. You don't have to turn there. But in Luke 21 and 15. And the priest and the scribes and the Pharisees. Saw the wonderful things that he did.
[17:47] They saw the wonderful works that he did. When he opened the blinded eyes. And when he cast out devils. They saw the wonderful works. Is that the way the Bible words it? That Jesus did.
[17:57] But over here. They're mocking him. And saying if he be the king. Let him come down from that cross. Then we'll believe him. And if they wouldn't believe him. And all the wonderful works that their own words said.
[18:08] Then they're not going to believe him now. Amen. But what they said was a half truth. He said he saved others. But himself he cannot save. And the truth is. He did save other people. Amen. We're living witnesses and testimony of it today.
[18:22] But he couldn't save himself. Because if he had saved himself. You and I would not be saved. So he gave his life. He laid it down. A ransom. For all mankind.
[18:34] That whosoever will. Let him come and take of the waters of life freely. Can somebody say amen? So they were mocking him. And they were saying all manner of evil things against him.
[18:46] He saved others. Matthew 26 and 48. Back up there page. See what it says here. Matthew 26 and 48.
[18:56] Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign saying. Whom soever I shall kiss. The same as he.
[19:06] And hold him fast. This is talking about in the garden. He forthwith he came to Jesus. And he said. Hail master. And he kissed him. And Jesus. Judas. Jesus said therefore unto him.
[19:19] Friend. Isn't that amazing? Remember what I was talking about last night? How that Jesus laid his head on his shoulder. He gave him the seat of the guest of honor. He made him special right up to the end.
[19:31] And now. He already said. What are you going to betray me? And who is it Lord? He just got his hand in the sock with me. Jesus turned around to Judas and said. What about this too quickly?
[19:43] And he got up and he left. And if you read the rest of the story. You'll find out in the Bible. And then Satan entered into him. Only man in the Bible. Where the Bible says that Satan entered into him.
[19:55] And the Jews said unto him. Jesus said unto him. Friend. Wherefore art thou come? He knew why he had come. But he wanted him to answer. Then came they. And they laid hands on Jesus.
[20:06] And they took him. And behold. One of them. Which was with Jesus. Stretched out his hand. And he drew his sword. He tried to tell me one of the disciples had a weapon.
[20:17] He was armed. And he was a disciple of Jesus. He had a hard time drawing his sword if he wasn't armed with me. And he struck his servant of the high priest.
[20:28] And it smote off his ear. Then said Jesus unto him. Put up again thy sword into his place. For all they that take up the sword shall perish with the sword. Thinketh thou not that I came now to pray to my father.
[20:41] And he can presently give me more. Then twelve. The sword wall goes to ten thousand. The scripture actually says. Think not that I can pray to my father. And he will give me twelve legions of angels.
[20:54] Can anybody tell me how much a legion is? Six thousand people. Six thousand is what a legion is. When Jesus went over to the shores of Gadara.
[21:05] And there was a man there that was naked. And cut himself. And he was chained out there by the tombs. And when Jesus came to him. He ran up to him and fell down on his knees. And he said Jesus thou son of David.
[21:16] Have mercy upon me. And Jesus said what's your name? And he said my name is legion. For we are many. And the word legion means six thousand. All right. Jesus said think not that I could presently ask of my father.
[21:28] And he would send me twelve legions of angels. Twelve thousand. Legions. Twelve legions. How much is six times? Twelve times six thousand.
[21:41] Huh? Seventy-two thousand. Amen. That's what I dream of. Were we talking about that a while ago? Seventy-two thousand angels. Amen. Now in the book of Isaiah. It tells you that.
[21:52] Thirty-seven and thirty-six. It tells you that. In one night. One angel. Killed. Killed. One hundred. And eighty-five thousand. People.
[22:03] Men of war. In one night. So if one angel. Killed one hundred and eighty-five thousand. Then how many. People could. Seventy-two thousand angels slay in one night.
[22:14] How about thirteen billion. Six hundred thousand. Or only three billion more people than what's alive on the face of the earth right now. Think about it.
[22:26] He could have called twelve legions of angels. And destroyed the world and set him free. But he died alone on Calvary's cross.
[22:40] For you and me. Can somebody say amen? Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Matthew 27. 41 and 42. The chief priest mocking said. If he'll come down from the cross. We'll believe him.
[22:52] No. They weren't going to believe him. But they had a three-fold witness. And this witness was against their self. Of the priests. The scribes. And the elders. The third time that Jesus was. Was mocked. Was in the book of Luke.
[23:04] The twenty-third chapter. Luke 23. Luke 23. Luke 23 and 32.
[23:14] Two. This is what he says. And there were also two other malfactors. Led with him to be put to death. And when they were come to the place.
[23:26] Which is called Calvary. There they crucified him. And the malfactors. One on the right hand. And one on the other. On the left. Then said Jesus. Father forgive them.
[23:36] For they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment. And they cast lots. And the people stood. Beholding. And the rulers also with them. Derided him. See the rulers.
[23:46] Also with them. Derided them. Saying. He saved others. Let him. Save himself. If he be the Christ. The chosen of God. And the soldiers. Also mocked him.
[24:00] Coming to him. And offer him the vinegar. And saying. If thou be the king of the Jews. Save thyself. And the superscription. Also was written over him. In letters. In Greek. And Latin. And Hebrew.
[24:11] This. Is the king of the Jews. Can you say amen? The soldiers. There's the third ones. That mocked him. The pastors by.
[24:23] The high priest. The scribes. And the elders. And now the soldiers. Man. It's almost like. He didn't have a friend. In the world. Jesus said.
[24:34] Thank not that I've come. To. To condemn the world. But I've come. To save the world. That the world through me. Might have life. He came.
[24:45] He was love. Personified. He was love. He was love. He was pure. Undefiled. Perfected love. And what happened?
[24:57] They crucified him. Can you say amen? Go on a little bit further. Right here. John 19. 18 through 22.
[25:18] Read this while ago. I want to read it again. And when they. Where they crucified him. And two others with him. One on either side.
[25:29] And Jesus in the midst. Pilate wrote a title. And he put it across. Put it on the cross. And the writing was. Jesus of Nazareth. The king of the Jews.
[25:41] This title then. Read many of the Jews. For the place. Where Jesus was crucified. Was nigh to the city. And it was written. In Hebrew.
[25:54] And. The real translation. Of that word Hebrew. Is the. Is the. Is the. Syro Chaldeak. Which was the. The. Language. In all the land. That had been for centuries.
[26:04] And then. It was written. In. In. Greek. And Greek. Was the. Current language. That everyone was speaking. And then it was written. In Latin.
[26:14] Which was the official. Roman language. Who wrote that? Who wrote that? Then. Pilate.
[26:29] Made. They call it. A super inscription. He wrote it. This. Is. Jesus. King. Of.
[26:39] The Jews. And then they begin to say. Don't. Don't put that up there. Change it. Change it. Say that. He said he was king of the Jews. And Pilate said. Now.
[26:50] Here's what I was getting out of this. When I was studying this today. Pilate. Thought he had yielded enough. Because he had already told him twice. I. Find. No fault with the man.
[27:01] And then the next time he said. I find no fault at all. And yet they cried. Crucify. Crucify. Give us my rabbits. This man Jesus. He must die. Amen. So Pilate thought that he had yielded enough.
[27:12] And he could find no fault with him. Refused. Because he. Had already. Acted against. Even his. Most. Sane. Mind.
[27:23] Of what's right. And what's wrong. I. Crucify. Crucify. Crucify. Crucify.
[27:39] Jesus of Nazareth. King of the Jews. The soldiers. The chief priests. The passers by.
[27:49] The Pharisees. The scribes. Everybody mocking him. Everybody mocking him. Everybody mocking him. Finally the fourth. One that mocked him.
[28:00] Jesus is mocked. One more time. And this time. Who do you think it was mocking him? It's John 19 and 18. And they.
[28:13] That were crucified with him. Were mocking him. Two others.
[28:23] Luke calls them. Malfactors and evildoers. And criminals. Matthew and Mark. Call them thieves and robbers. Isaiah 59. 53 and 9. Calls them the wicked. And verse 12. Calls them transgressors.
[28:34] Turn with me to Luke 23. Verse 39. Can somebody say amen?
[28:50] Four times. Four classes of people. Who mocked Jesus. Luke 23 and 39.
[29:02] And one of the malfactors. Which were hanged. Railed on him. Saying. If thou be the Christ. Save thyself and us.
[29:13] But the other answering. Rebuked him. Saying. Dost thou not fear God? Seeing that thou art in the same condemnation. And we indeed justly. For we receive the due reward of our deeds.
[29:25] But this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus. Lord. Remember me.
[29:37] When thou come. Into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him. Verily I say unto you. Today. Shalt thou be with me.
[29:48] In paradise. Somebody wrote a song one time. Said. Lord remember me. When you come. Into your kingdom. Remember me. Cried the thief.
[29:59] Amen. Remember me. Some of us. When we get down to pray. We have to say. Lord do you remember me? Been a long time since you heard me.
[30:11] You may not recognize my voice. Do you remember me? And I'd ask you today. How many of us. Sitting here tonight. Mocked Jesus.
[30:22] Mocked the price that he paid. Mocked the sacrifice that he made on Calvary. You say. Well how do we want. How do we mock Jesus? Because we claim to be saved.
[30:36] But we won't allow the Holy Spirit of God to bridle our tongue. We claim to be saved. What does Romans 6.1 say? What? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?
[30:48] God forbid. How that we are dead to sin. Live any longer they're in. I don't know about you. But I thought when I got saved. I was supposed to quit. Lying. Cheating. Stealing. Smoking. Drinking. Cussing. Going to all the worldly things.
[31:00] I found out that. All those things are accepted in the world now. In the church. Accepted. Accepted.
[31:12] Peggy was not preaching down this land that Sunday night. She's looking up like this. What did he preach on last Sunday night? I think I was there. Amen.
[31:26] Can I get y'all's attention back here? I'm just about through. But talking when preaching is going on. And chewing gum in church. All that's mocking the Lord. Mocking his house. It's a sanctuary. It's a holy place.
[31:37] Amen. How many knows it's a holy place? I'm through. I'm just wrapping this up. I'm not going. Well I said I'm not going. I might go to a couple more scriptures. But I'm basically I'm through. But you know what the word of God says?
[31:49] Be not deceived. God is not mocked. For whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap. Be not deceived.
[32:03] God is not mocked. You see he knows why you do what you do. He knows why you wear what you wear. And why you talk the way you talk. And why you look the way you look.
[32:16] The Bible said that the word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword. Amen. Discerning a receiver between the bone and the marrow. Between the very thoughts and intents.
[32:28] He knows why you're doing what you're doing. Has anybody ever prayed Lord let my intentions be right? Don't let me do this for the wrong reason.
[32:40] Let me do it Lord to magnify you and to glorify you and to lift you up and to praise you. Jeremiah 2.32 says can a man forget her ornaments or bride her attire?
[32:55] Yet my people have forgotten me days without end. You know what you do when we claim to be Christian and we forget Jesus days without end? Sound like to me we're making a mockery of salvation.
[33:12] What's it sound like to you? In Jeremiah 2.13 he says for my people have committed two evils. They have forsaken me the fountain of living water and hewed them out cisterns broken cisterns.
[33:29] They can hold no water. They have forgotten me the fountain of living water. Forsaken me. And hewed them out cisterns broken cisterns that can hold no water.
[33:43] So I ask you one last time. How about you? Are you making a mockery of salvation? Are you making a mockery of the power of the Holy Ghost? Are you making a mockery of 1 Corinthians 6.14, 15 and 16?
[33:56] War 4. Come out from among them and be your separate self. God are you trying to blend in? You're trying to be like the undercover man who went to work at the lumber woods.
[34:09] Man, you know them lumber jacks were supposed to have been a really rough bunch of people. And so when the time was over and his stay up there for two, three, four, five months, he came back and he said, well, how did you make it up there amongst all those rough lumber jacks?
[34:26] You being a Christian and them being all sinners, he said, well, I just didn't let them know. It sounds funny, but how many people on your job know if you're a Christian or not?
[34:39] Are you making a mockery out of your salvation? What do they say when you walk by or when you walk off? You've just been there telling them about Jesus or telling them about the power of the Holy Ghost, telling them about what kind of service we had last night, but then you walk off and you do something and you get mad and you throw a cuss and fit and act every way by what a Christian would say?
[34:59] You know what they think? That man's making a mockery. That woman is making a mockery out of what it means to be a Christian. What does it mean? What does it mean?
[35:13] Be not deceived. God is not mocked. God is not mocked. For whatsoever man soweth, that shall he also reap. Can you say amen? Hallelujah. He that soweth through the Spirit, going to reap spiritual things, but he that soweth through the flesh, his other flesh is going to reap destruction.
[35:33] Amen? Amen. Easter. Resurrection time.
[35:43] Mocking time. How many remembers the movie Jesus Christ Superstar? I think when Jesus, and I've never seen the movie, so I don't really know what I'm talking about, but somebody said that maybe him and Mary Magdalene had a thing going.
[36:00] They did have a thing going. He loved her and she loved him. But it wasn't the kind of thing that the world calls a thing. It was a holy thing. He that's forgiven most.
[36:13] Jesus loveth the most. Then I, somebody, I even heard somebody talking, and they said he might have, they might have made Jesus out to be a homosexual. That sound pretty bad?
[36:31] I can't understand what you're saying. I don't know what you're saying. Missy, you don't talk loud enough. I can't hear you. Yeah. What'd she say?
[36:41] He probably had a ring in his ear and a bone in his nose. Did they make him out to be a queer?
[37:01] Both. In the movie. In the movie. You think they're not going to have to answer for God?
[37:12] Not only the man that wrote the thing, but the people that backed it with all their money and all the people that went to see it and saw that all the ungodly mess and partook of it. Amen? You think that's not a mockery? How about you?
[37:33] How about your life? How about the way you act? Are you a real Christian? Or you are a pseudo?
[37:49] Pseudo-Christian. You just act like one, but you're not really one. How do you treat your family?
[38:11] How many thinks that a Christian should be full of love? And even be joyful? You know, I got a picture right out here in the hallway of Jesus in the foyer, and it's him, and he's crucified, and he's got blood running down his face.
[38:27] And I love that picture. My brother-in-law gave it to me years and years and years and years and years ago. My uncle made the frame for me before he passed away. And I think that's a great thing of the way Jesus, you know, he looked ten times that bad.
[38:46] Isaiah 52 and 14 says, His visage, his face, was marred more than any man's was ever marred. Isaiah 53 says, He has no form or calmness, and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
[38:57] He despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief, and we hid, as it were, our faces from him. But we did esteem him stricken of God, smitten and stricken of God and afflicted.
[39:08] He was wounded for our transgressions. He had bruised for our iniquity. The chastisement of our peace was upon him. And by his stripes, we are healed.
[39:23] Is the life you're living now a mockery or is it the real thing? At the rapture takes place. And the Bible said it to begin to dawn toward the end of the Sabbath.
[39:40] And what day is the Sabbath? What day of the week is that? Saturday. Saturday. There's seven days in the week. And Monday's the first, and Tuesday's the second, and Wednesday's the third, and Thursday's the fourth, and Friday's the fifth.
[39:54] And I got to get back, didn't I? Sunday's the first. Monday's the second. Tuesday's the third. Wednesday's the fourth. And Friday's the fifth. Six.
[40:05] I got to back it again. Never mind. Saturday's the Sabbath day. Saturday. The Sabbath day.
[40:16] Sabbath day. What does one of the, I think it may be, Exodus 20 and, I don't know, verse 4 or 5 down through there, remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy?
[40:38] Man, do we keep any day holy anymore? Are we all, are we a joke? Are we a joke? We put signs on the walls, in the bathroom. Don't put paper in the commode.
[40:49] It'll stop up. It'll flood the floor. And we know you don't care because you just put it in there and flood it, and you're not going to clean it up anyway. We got signs all around the parking lot.
[41:00] Don't smoke on the church property. Last weekend, it was Phillip and, and my grandson, Drew. They went out there and they picked up a little old bag this high and that big around full of cigarette butts and stuff.
[41:15] All on the church parking lot. How about it? How big a joke are you? Just how big a joke are you?
[41:26] If Jesus were to come tonight, is the life you're living, would it be good enough for you to make the rapture?
[41:45] I realize what I'm saying is not popular. Probably wish I'd hurry up and shut up. But if I could get one person to start living sincere, overcoming lives, then it'd be worth it.
[42:07] It'd be worth it if I could get one person to quit being and making a mockery out of religion and out of salvation and out of the Holy Ghost. It'd be worth it. One person. Just one. Just one. You know, most of us claim to be saved and sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost and we're just sitting around waiting for the rapture to take place.
[42:29] But the Bible said that Moses, or Noah rather, was a preacher of righteousness and he preached for 120 years. And he got thousands and thousands of people saved until they had to build 100 arks to get everybody in.
[42:46] Is that what it said? Well, he was a preacher of righteousness and he did preach for 120 years. But the Bible said that only eight souls were saved out of the flood.
[42:59] You know why the rest of them didn't get in the ark? They thought they were already saved. They thought they already had it made. They thought the life they're living was good enough for them to make the rapture.
[43:13] But the Bible said and the floods came. The rain fell. The deep opened up. The fountains of the deep and the rain came down from above.
[43:24] The water came down. You know what happened? Everybody began to run and beat on the door. Noah! Noah! Open the door, Noah! Open the door, Noah!
[43:35] You know, I can see Noah on the inside. I gotta get this door open. I gotta get this door open. But do you know what? Noah couldn't open the door because Noah didn't close the door.
[43:46] The Bible said and God closed the door. Noah saw a lot of friends. Maybe even some people that helped him work on the ark. Maybe some people that helped work on the church.
[44:01] They were already on their tiptoes. Never rained before. Let's start by our head and let's go to the Lord in prayer.
[44:13] Lord, we've never seen a rapture. We read about a catching away. Some of us think we're ready.
[44:28] But I like what your servant Paul said, I count not myself to have apprehended. I don't think just because I'm the pastor of this church that I've got me an automatic reserved seat on that glory cloud that's going to come down and catch your people out.
[44:58] Lord, I don't believe any of us do. But your word says make your calling and election sure. And the way we do that is by making a commitment.
[45:11] Jesus, I'm going to live for you. No matter what others do, no matter what the situation, the circumstances that arise, no matter what, I'm going to live for you.
[45:24] I'm going to serve you with all my heart. I'm going to serve you with all my soul. I'm going to serve you with all my strength. I'm going to serve you with all my mind.
[45:35] I'm going to bring every thought into subjection to you. Father, if there be one I'm going to serve you I'm not on an ego trip I'm nothing on my own.
[46:14] I make mistakes Sometimes I slip and fall I'm just common flesh and bone Oh, but I'll prove someday Just what I say I'm of a special kind Cause when he was on the cross I was on his mind My favorite verse Oh, he knew me Yet he loved me He whose glory Makes the heavens shine So unworthy
[47:16] Of God's mercy When he was on the cross I was on his mind The look of love Was on his face A crown of thorns On his head The blood that stained The robe that he wore Made it crimson red Oh, his eyes Were on the crowd That day But he looked ahead In time When he was on the cross
[48:19] I was on his mind Oh, he knew me And still he loved me Oh, he whose glory Makes the heavens shine Hallelujah Well, so unworthy Of such mercy What kind of mercy What kind of mercy Amen For when he Was on the cross I was on his mind Praise the Lord Amen Hallelujah
[49:21] Appreciate everybody Coming out tonight It's ten o'clock We're getting out Early tonight We won't know how to act Unless you want to shout Some more We'll shout some more We'll sing some more We can preach some more My wife wants you to testify Yeah Wait a minute You got to come up here Brother Well, Brother Darrell Get him a testimony ready He's next I just thank the Lord He's awesome
