Perfection

[0:00] I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it, amen? I was preaching on the four, just four of them. There's really a thousand.

[0:12] I'm just touching on four. Manifestation of the Holy Ghost, the baptism of the Holy Ghost, amen? And, you know, it's been so long since I preached on the baptism of the Holy Ghost because it's been about three or four weeks ago, it seemed like.

[0:25] But I can't go back and start again because you've got to go on. Now, after the baptism of the Holy Ghost, I got baptized with the, anybody here get baptized with the Holy Ghost? Let me tell you what, there's a move going through the land today that you don't need that anymore.

[0:41] Amen? We don't need to be baptized with the Holy Ghost anymore. And if you do, just get, you know, you don't have to be radical about it. You don't have to get plumb silly. You don't have to make an obstacle or a spectacle out of yourself.

[0:55] Amen? Amen? Let me tell you what. If you just knew how crippled I was when Jesus Christ found me, just like the lame man that was laid at the gate called Beautiful every day when Peter and John came by there and he was begging alms, honey, you can put my name right there in that place.

[1:13] Amen? You know what he was saying? Alms, alms, have you any alms? Amen? And I was just as crippled as that man when Jesus found me. He said, silver and gold have I none.

[1:24] But such as I have, give I thee in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Rise up and walk. And you know what he did? He got up real slow. He walked into the temple real slow and he sat down and he said, Oh, thank you, Jesus.

[1:42] Whom the son has set free. It's free indeed. Amen? The Bible says he went walking and leaping and skipping into the temple and praising God because he had been set free. Can somebody shout amen?

[1:54] I found out that bound people don't move and loose people don't sit down. Can you shout amen? Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. Woo!

[2:07] Oh, let me just go on down this line here just a little bit further. A little bit further on down the road. Most Pentecostal churches so-called, they're not real Pentecostal churches because if you find a real Pentecostal church, it will be on fire if it's Pentecostal.

[2:29] And if it ain't on fire, it ain't Pentecostal. And you can call it what you want to. I don't care. And you go tell them I said it. Can you say amen? If the church ain't on fire, it ain't the church that he started on the day of Pentecostal.

[2:39] Amen? Because cloven tongues like as a fire lit up on each one of them. And they all begin to speak in tongues as the Spirit of God gave them utterance. Everybody. Everybody. So I said, Brother Van, you think everybody ought to speak in tongues?

[2:53] No, I think everybody ought to be like the Baptists, the Methodists, and the Catholics, and the Catholics. And don't even worry about it. You know I believe everybody ought to speak in tongues. The Bible said when you're speaking to none on tongue, you're not speaking unto man, but you're speaking unto God.

[3:05] And you're speaking mystery. And you know what? You're edifying yourself. The devil's trying to put you down. Everybody's trying to put you down. But when you begin to speak in tongues, man, when you're going through it, if you're just going to have enough mind of Christ to begin to speak in tongues, God will begin to edify you and lift you up just through speaking in tongues.

[3:22] But how come when you're going through it, the way that you feel is, I ain't worth nothing. I ain't no good. Don't nobody love me. Why don't I just quit? Man, I'm at the bottom of the bottom of the bottom.

[3:35] I'm lower and well pooped. I'm at the bottom of the sea. Can nothing or nobody help me. That's the way the devil will make you feel. Except if he was to say, yeah, man, yeah, I'm going through it.

[3:49] That's why Jesus said, take up your cross daily and follow me. You're going to go through it every day. Oh, man, I thought after I got saved, there wouldn't be anything else bad go wrong. That's a lie. I stayed out of the pit of hell. Amen? Everything's going to go wrong.

[4:00] You know why God had the seven churches of Asia wrote in there and what they did? Because if we're going to be in the bride, how many of us want to be in the bride? You know, some people just want to get the head by the skin of their teeth, and this probably message ain't for you because I'm talking about them that want to go all the way and be in the bride and even go up and be a hundred and twentyfold.

[4:18] Anybody want to be a hundred and twentyfold? Amen? I want to go over the top. Amen? But the only way I'm going to get to the top is I've got to set my eye on the bride. People tell you, oh, that's just not necessary.

[4:31] That jumping up and down like y'all do and that old loud music. Honey, you came too late to tell me. Get one of these young people that don't know any better. Well, you might have to go to another church to find somebody around here that don't know any better because we raised our children up to know that you've got to get in the spirit to worship God.

[4:49] True worshipers must worship the Lord in the spirit and in the truth to be baptized with the Holy Ghost. Now, how many times have you been baptized, Brother Van?

[5:00] I don't know how many fingers and toes I got. Probably all of them and more. What's the matter? Didn't you think the first one was good enough? Yes, I did, but I backslid since I first got saved. Oh, oh.

[5:12] And then I read over there where it said, repent and do your first works over again. You know what that meant to me? That meant go down and repent. Now, I never got out of church when I backslid. I kept on going to church. And I never quit preaching and I never quit playing music.

[5:24] I just stayed right in church, but my heart went away from God, you know. Left my first love, amen? But hallelujah, but when I got back in my first love, we'd have a baptizing service before, you know, somebody was over there and they're baptizing me.

[5:36] Amen. After you get baptized with the Holy Ghost, and just let me say this, it don't cost you nothing either. Everybody in the Bible that got baptized with the Holy Ghost, they all speak in tongues. And do you want to know how to get more of the Holy Ghost?

[5:49] Speak in tongues more. But Brother Van, I can't do it unless the Holy Ghost comes up on me. Somebody real quick, find that in the Bible and show it to me. Huh? I thought it was a gift.

[6:01] I thought it was a gift. Is the Holy Ghost a gift? Are you sure? Amen. If the Holy Ghost a gift, and you know, you give me a new shotgun, you say, now this is a gift, then I can take it hunting, go hunting anytime I want to.

[6:12] If I don't want to go hunting, I just go in the backyard, load up, just boom, boom, boom, shoot them shotgun shells up. If I want to, you know why? Somebody said, what you doing? I'm shooting my new gun. Amen. Hey, when I got filled with the Holy Ghost, I got a new tongue.

[6:25] Amen. You know what that means? I can shoot off my new tongue anytime I want to. Amen. Hey, when the devil comes, my Lord, if we just begin to magnify the name of the Lord and lift up his name, Shana Maria, Satana, Yakohu, Sataya.

[6:36] Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! I like what Paul said, for I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation.

[6:50] He said, when I came to you, I didn't come to you with enticing words of man's wisdom. He said, but I came to you in the spirit and with power. Amen.

[7:01] Amen. In the demonstration of the spirit. Woo! Woo! Woo! And with power. Tonight, I want to talk about being anointed.

[7:17] You get baptized, then you got to get anointed. Amen. But when I was getting that message today, God said, here, write this down real quick. So 15 minutes before I came out here, I wrote this down.

[9:17] People ask me all the time, are you still going to Louisville every weekend? And I say, yes. I'm still going to Louisville every weekend. How long are you going to be going?

[9:30] Until Jesus says, that's enough. Amen? And he ain't said it's enough yet. But God sent me here for a specific purpose.

[9:42] He placed me here to bring you. Like I said, I'm not going to enjoy heaven. I'm not going to enjoy being in the bride if I'm going to be the only one that's out of this church that God gave me to pastor if I'm the only one that gets to make the bride.

[9:59] So how many knows that the bride hath made herself ready and to her was granted that she should be arrayed in white linen, clean and white, for white linen and righteousness of saints. And we know that there's white robes, white raiment, white linen, so that's what we're striving to.

[10:13] In other words, does he make him want to be perfect? Most people, when you hear that word perfect, the first thing they're going to tell you, the non-perfect, no not one. And let me just say this to you hypocrites that say that.

[10:23] Shut up. Shut up. Read the rest of the Bible and you'll find out that God calls several people in the Word of God perfect.

[10:35] Amen? Amen? All right, who got the first one? God called me here to do my best to perfect this church, to bring this church to perfection as far as you are able physically and spiritually and mentally to go.

[10:50] Can you say amen? Who had the first one? You had it. Stand and read for me. You are therefore perfect even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Ho, ho, ho. Wait a minute, that's not in there because there's none perfect, no not one.

[11:03] Yes, none perfect, no not one is in there. Amen? Amen? Without God it is impossible to be perfect. Amen? But, who wrote this? Is this in red? Yes. Oh, Jesus said that.

[11:14] And what did he say? Be ye therefore perfect even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. Anybody want to know what perfect means? It means a lot of different things.

[11:25] Just let me give you some descriptions here. Perfect comes from the word ta-meen. T-A-W-M-E-E-N. Genesis 9, the Bible said that Job was perfect. Job was perfect in all, I mean Genesis 6 and 9.

[11:40] Noah was perfect in all of his generations. Can you say amen? Genesis 6 and 9, write it down. Noah was perfect. Are you writing that down? Genesis 6 and 9, Noah was perfect in all of his generations.

[11:56] Don't let me have to separate you children over right now. but I will if I have to. And then Job in one said there was a man lived in the land of Oz and his name was Job and he was a perfect man.

[12:10] One that fears God and it's truth evil. Amen? God's not going to tell you to do something that he's not going to make a way for you to do it but you can't do it in your own strength. We got to do it. That's why we need the Holy Ghost.

[12:20] Amen? I can't crucify my flesh. I wouldn't know what flesh to crucify anyway except the Spirit of Truth that was in me which is the Holy Ghost should lead me and guide me to know what flesh I need to crucify. Can somebody shout amen?

[12:31] So it means to be perfect means it's when you're talking about Noah there it's 85-49 it says entire it means without blemish complete, full, without spot, undefiled, upright, perfect, and to come to the full.

[12:44] Amen? To come to the full. How many likes it when you go to a restaurant to eat and I like to drink a lot? Iced tea. And I hate it when they give you them little old six ounce cups of iced tea when I want one of them 20 ounce cups of iced tea or 32 would be better.

[12:59] Give me just a quart. And then they come by and they just halfway fill that nut. And before they get out of sight it's done gone. Amen? Hallelujah.

[13:09] This means to come to the full until we all come into the fullness. To the fullness of the measure of the stature of Jesus. Hey, I'm not satisfied just to get down where his big toe is.

[13:22] I'm not going to be satisfied just to get to his knees or his loins. Amen? I want to go past the mercy seat. Amen? I want to go plumb on up. We've been learning about brotherhood, ain't we?

[13:38] That lays down on the mercy seat. I want to go higher. I want to go higher. I want to go higher. You know, most folks are just satisfied where they are. We get an old humdrum job and we just stay there and work all of our life on the whole humdrum job instead of trying to take our time when we be laying home watching television and go out and get a little education where we get a better job.

[14:04] We live in the same old neighborhood because we got the same job because we won't do anything to try to better ourselves. That's the way it is in the natural. How is it in the spiritual? Well, we just, you know, I like to do better.

[14:18] Anybody here ever like to have a new home? Like to have a new house, a new car? Like to have a million dollars in the bank? How many believe that somebody just will walk up and give it to you? It's not going to happen that way, is it?

[14:30] Then if we want to, if we want to be perfect, we're going to have to grow up spiritually. As newborn babies desire the sensory milk of the word that you may grow thereby. Amen? I don't know if I'm ever going to get this before manifestation of the Holy Ghost.

[14:43] It means to come to the full. When it was, speaking of Job, it was 85-35, but it means, the word is tam, it means entire. Figuratively and morally complete, full, pious, clean, showing religious devotion.

[14:58] How much religious devotion do you have? How about when everything's going wrong around the house? How about when you step on mama's tail and mama's a pussycat and man, she just begins to scream and holler at you. How much devotion you got then?

[15:09] How pious are you? How holy are you? How many people before you know it, strangers walk by at that time, they'll all be thankful. That's where all the sinners live right there.

[15:20] We better move on down the street. Oh, I'm sorry. I knew I wasn't talking to the saints at Riverside. You know, I'm just... It means performing religious oblation.

[15:32] That means offering sacrifices, virtuous, moral, immotives, sacred, holy, coupled together, upright and undefiled. Who had the second one? All right, stand and read it, please.

[15:46] Wherefore, I am a minister according to the dispension of God which is given to me for you to fulfill the word of God. Hold it. Wherefore, I am a minister of God which is given unto you to fulfill the word of God.

[16:00] Even the mystery which has been hid from ages and from generations but now is... Oh, wait a minute. How many wants to know a mystery that's been hidden from you from generations and from ages? You want to know a mystery?

[16:11] You want to know a mystery that the world can't understand, that can't comprehend it because you've got to have a spiritual mind to understand this? But now is made manifest to his saints to whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of the mystery among the Gentiles which is Christ in you the hope of...

[16:27] Ho! Ho! How are we going to reach perfection? Whom we preach warning... No, no, no. Read that thing one again. To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles which is Christ in you the hope of glory?

[16:43] What is the mystery that God has made known to us but the mystery to the Gentiles? Christ in us. Christ? Christ? Christ? What is Christ?

[16:55] Huh? The anointing. The anointing. The anointing. You ever going to be anointed? You get anointed you get that anointing and you get Christ in you. Amen? What is Christ?

[17:06] In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was with God. Amen? And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us that anointing was made flesh and then that anointing sent the anointing back to make our flesh anointed. How many felt anointed tonight when you're standing on your knees crying after God?

[17:19] Amen? And hey I've been there when all you can do is just say Jesus help me and that's all I can say. Then I've been there when you couldn't shut up because it was just pouring out like it was tonight.

[17:30] Amen? Whales springing up. Come on. Whom we preach warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. Now what is God wanting me to do?

[17:43] Paul wants Paul wants me to be perfect and he wants me to present everybody that God has given me to minister to to be perfect but how are we going to be perfect? How are we going to reach perfection in Christ Jesus?

[17:59] How are we going to reach perfection? How are we going to reach perfection? In the anointing but in Christ Jesus.

[18:10] You got who got the next one? You got it. Ephesians 4, 11 and 12 and he gave some apostles some prophets and some evangelists some pastors and teachers for the perfecting of the saints for the work of the ministry for the edifying of the body of Christ.

[18:33] Now what did he give them for? For the perfecting of the saints. Who had 2 Corinthians? Thank you. [18:51] Amen. For we are not as many which corrupt the word of God but as of sincerity but as of God in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus shalt believe in thy heart thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made into salvation.

[22:13] Amen? That's what it says here. And if Christ be in you the body is dead because of sin but the spirit is life because of righteousness. Now wait a minute now. Now you're going to miss this.

[22:29] Are we in Jesus Christ or is he in us? Romans 8 9. If any man be in Christ.

[22:42] Now a while ago it says if any man be if Christ be in a man and now it's if any man be in Christ. Come on. Come on.

[22:54] In other words we get him inside of us. That's why John said I must decrease. He must increase. Amen? I've got to get so small that I can fit inside of him.

[23:05] I've got to lose who I am. I've got I've got to come to the realization that I am nothing I know nothing I can do nothing without him but with him. When I get in him then all things are possible.

[23:17] Amen? Then I can say to the mountain be thou removed and cast into the sea. My God honey it's all about getting inside of him not getting him inside of us. Who had the next scripture? Huh?

[23:31] Was that the last one? Oh no. I said I was going to read Romans 8 1 didn't I? He said there is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. What do we got to have to get to get away from the condemnation?

[23:46] Get in Christ. He is inside of us. Why does his spirit come inside of us? What does it do when it comes inside of us? It condemns us of our sins. It makes us feel bad. You know the difference between a Christian and a sinner?

[23:58] A sinner sins and feels no remorse. A Christian sins and they said oh my God what have I done? I feel so bad. I feel so bad. That's the difference. Therefore there is now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus who walk not after the spirit but after the flesh.

[24:13] Do you know what that tells me? There's two ways to walk. You can walk after the spirit if you want to or you can walk after the flesh if you want to. It's God's will that we would all walk after the spirit.

[24:24] It's the devil's will we all walk after the flesh and most of the time we're walking after the flesh instead of after the spirit. Watch you walk. A lot of people can talk the talk but they can't walk the walk.

[24:35] Can you say amen? God wants us to walk in the spirit. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus who walk after the spirit and not after the flesh. Verse 2 tells us that there's two laws.

[24:47] For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. There's the law of the spirit of life in Christ and there's the law of sin and death. Which law we obey?

[25:00] Which law we obey? Huh? Go on down to verse 5 here. There's two kind of minds. For they that are after the things of the mind do mind the things of the flesh but they that are after the spirit do mind the things of the spirit.

[25:19] Are you fleshly minded or are you spiritually minded? Are you minding fleshly things or are you minding spiritual things? Are you walking in the spirit or are you walking in the flesh? Can somebody shout amen?

[25:30] Amen. Where we at? Where we at? How many knows that there's two tongues and this is I got on all this. We have two tongues. Yeah.

[25:41] Go to James the third chapter. We'll read about two tongues here real quick. Somebody say praise the Lord. I was over there in Mexico and I saw some of them people on the boat that well how many languages do you speak and most of the people that speak three or four languages I just told them I could speak two but I forgot I could speak three languages.

[26:09] I can speak English and I can speak Hillbilly and I can speak Holy Ghost. Amen. And a little bit of Pig Latin.

[26:25] Amen. Listen, listen James 3 and 1. That's the way it says there. My brethren be not many masters. You ever notice how everybody wants to run a show? Everybody wants to run a show after the work's done.

[26:45] After the work's done. Everybody wants to run a show after the work is done. Can you say amen? My brethren no, no where am I here? Three in one. My brethren know you're not but you're not many masters knowing that we have received the greater condemnation.

[26:58] Now what that's saying is that I'm amazed that a lot of young people when they get saved they think that God called them to preach when most of the time God hasn't called you to preach he just called you to live right because a preacher will have a whole lot more condemnation that he's going to have to answer for because to whom much is given much is required.

[27:20] Can you say amen? He says knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation for in many things we offend all. This is Paul this is James speaking here.

[27:32] Now listen if any man offend not in word the same as a perfect man and able also to bridle the whole body. Did you ever get somewhere and you're not aiming to get on anything but you know these people feel this way about something so you just begin to talk about it and then you get right out there in the middle and you say what am I doing?

[27:48] I have no business in this conversation. I got two choices I can go on or I can shut up. What do you do? Most of the time we go on.

[28:02] What would God want us to do? If we want to be listen if we want to be perfect for in many things we offend all if any man offend not in word listen you want to be perfect if any man offend not in word the same as as a perfect man.

[28:19] Anybody want to be perfect? Then let's try to not offend anybody in word. Somebody shout to the man and is also able to bridle the whole body if you can tame that then you can bridle your whole body if you can keep your tongue from sinning and from talking about things that shouldn't be talking about he said let your conversation be yay yay and nay nay and no more than anything else is sin but honey we get around somebody we got to believe everything we thought we heard or thought we might have know and we got to make sure everybody knows that we know it and a real friend will say I'm going to tell you something don't tell nobody and you say you can you can trust me and before they get out of the door you pick up that phone and listen I can't tell you who said this but you might know who I'm talking about and there you go it said behold we put bits in horses mouths that they obey us and we turn about their whole body behold also the ships which though they be so great are driven about by fierce winds and though they are turned about with a very small helm whether soever the governor listeth even so the tongue is a little member and boasts of great things behold how great a matter a little fire kindleth amen and the tongue is a fire somebody put the fire out we just heard of three great big fires here lately one was in

[29:46] Chicago one was in Rhode Island and the other was up there in New York what's that island it's Staten Island looked like Saddam Hussein came over and blowed up all the oil refineries the way that thing was burning look for your gas prices to go up listen even so the tongue is a little member that boasts of great things behold how great a matter a little fire kindleth and the tongue is a fire it's a world of iniquity so is the tongue among our members that it defile the whole body and it setteth on fire the course of hell the course of nature and it is set on fire of hell for every kind of beast and of birds and of serpents and of things in the sea is tamed and hath been tamed by mankind but the tongue can no man tame do you know why we need the Holy Ghost do you know why we really need the Holy Ghost here's how you can tell if you got the real

[36:36] Jesus Christ became sin for us who knew no righteousness that we who knew no righteousness might become the righteousness of God in him now if we can this tongue right here gives us all our trouble this is it this is the thing if we can start ruling our tongue then we can make ourselves sit down and study the word of God do you know I was reading an article today and it gave something like 97% of the church members don't bother to read the word of God they're depending on the preacher to do it for them and they're playing follow the leader and if the preacher ain't lead them in the right way if the blind 97% of the people that go to church don't bother to read the Bible they're depending on their preacher and then they put peer pressure on him they don't preach on us come on
