[0:00] verse 16 through 19 thus saith the Lord stand ye in the waves and sea and ask for the old paths where is the good way and walk therein don't just find out what the old path is walk in you shall find rest for your soul but they said in those days we will not walk therein also I said watching them over you saying hearken to the sound of the trumpet this is the prophets again but they said we will not harken therefore hear ye nations and know the congregation what is among them hear a word the old have to bring evil upon these people even the fruit of their thoughts because they have not harken them by words nor do not a lot but reject it he will not only for himself but he will provide himself as the lamb it was a great great thought good song thank you very much hardly ever get a chance to travel the country see the shape of the church
[1:34] I have a lot of people that travel through here and tell me what they see for instance Tara was talking to me just briefly and she said this church here would be a big church on our tour most of them are very small and it's folks it's time to be alarmed it's time to be alarmed 40 years ago when I got into in the back half of the churches in the country half of the states in the country the largest church of any kind in the back of the God was an independent Baptist church half of the states it was an amazing time those churches were running thousands they were running five or ten thousand and the largest church in the country was Brother Albert on a big day he had twenty thousand and there was an occasion when he went all out and said let's see if we can have a hundred thousand they had a hundred thousand on the side
[2:52] I don't know what's happening but not one of those churches that was the largest in his state is still the largest in his state not one do you know why the nation has gone so bad it parallels the decline of the old fashioned church had we held the line our nation would have held the line but I'm telling you what if the fortunes of our nation depend upon the fortunes of old fashioned churches our nation is in trouble deep trouble now I was so surprised to find a large large independent church old winding church bus running church christian school church out east not much out east there was a lot the last section of the country to be covered with independent work 40 years ago there was nothing in these people began to go in there and start church
[4:15] I found in New Jersey a church that's humongous absolutely humongous this guy worked with Lester Roelhoff down in Texas learned all about Lester Roelhoff the most conservative guy you've heard of learned all about conservatism and how the church is all Jewish and then went north and built that church from scratch he's 72 years old now his two sons are going to take him one of already doing most of work as the assistant and that they have thousands and thousands and thousands of people the church itself the church building you wouldn't believe as I said you can put two of the golden churches in the authority and it was full of the girls only they all were dressed sharp all the ladies were might and dressed right it was amazing to see something like that in that area they are the mother church in that area they consider themselves kind of like that every year they have a big meeting and they invite pastors from all of the northeast and their families to come in for a meeting for preachers and the families they put them all up and they wine and dine for three or four days just to encourage these pastors and their families and their church goes all out to make it a wonderful one of these days and they'll have five six hundred days for that meeting pastors and I was so thrilled to hear that kind of thing that's going on what is the catch preacher is there a negative here let me tell you how the devil stops good churches it starts with the music when you come to this church there's going to be a hymnal in front of you and there's going to be a man up here without ragged jeans and a guitar three or four other ragged people up here they praise group we're going to have one man dressed in a coat tie leading the music out of a hymnal and if we don't keep that we'll lose our church the devil do you understand that the devil was once an angel he was the top angel and in charge of praise in heaven
[7:25] Michael Michael was in charge of the warrior angels in heaven and Gabriel was in charge of the messenger angels in heaven and Lucifer was in charge of the praised angels and the vows described him as a walking orchestra he is the number one musician in the universe he will destroy through the future he will all I saw made me bow my head and thank God there's something like that going on there we had a hymnal good hymnal sang a couple of hymns and then the special music started and the little boards lit up with little chords we sang a couple chords the choir sang some special booming choir 36 men and 24 women in that choir six voices booming choir they sang two or three special songs and we didn't know one of them they were not old fashioned songs they were modern songs we had several special songs trios what happened
[8:51] Paul said afterwards said we did not know and never heard one single song sung by him they're all marvelous my heart bleeds when I say this but that pastor doesn't know his sons do not know but the devil has got his toe open there and it will continue to deteriorate I don't know what the folks that we left in a few years to do with all that talk I want to have a way to life because the devil destroys churches that's the way it is wonderful people friendly people pastor was a great guy as I said his son went to Bible college with these two they don't have any out of this they got to following a fellow out on the west coast who many years ago was straight as narrow built a big church out there and then started sleeping they started following him when he was right they didn't jump off the bandwagon when he went home and so he was going to lead them same path down the same road and that's the way it happened the music changed and my heart breathes to say that and I don't have any problem but I want you to look at the scripture that we read 16 chapter 6
[10:42] Jeremiah 6 16 I might have said 16 16 sorry about that go to chapter 6 and you'll find it Jeremiah 6 16 I want you to see it you probably haven't found it but I gave you wrong Jeremiah 6 16 thus saith the Lord stand ye in the ways and see and ask for the old paths where is the good way now folks you're never going to change the Bible it's all you can say that God himself wrote down that the old way is the good everything has to be modern everything has to be changed and improved and developed and progressive but the always right and the more old fashioned that a church is the more old fashioned that a preacher is the closer to the Bible he's going to be that's what all there is to do and the devil will always modernize everything it looks like the thing to do but it's not the thing to do there's some things you don't change

[13:00] I'm not old fashioned in my prayers I'm not going to be old fashioned in the way I go to find them I'm not going to be an old fogey I'm not going to be frumpy why I'm going to be stylish you'll never change that verse it'll always be in the Bible ask for the old path where is the good way and walk there in that's God's will you've got an old fashioned reason proud of don't let change gone too far this way let me tell you I gave up entire entire denomination I was raised in the denomination went to a Bible hall all my friends were there all the preachers that I almost idolized great men I passed for 10 years and
[14:04] I saw the 20 people they want and I had a choice to make for five years I tried to change my church into what you are and they threw me out they didn't want that I said let's walk in the old path that's the good way walk there in God said and they said we will not walk there in I went across the state and got another church and tried to do the same thing I tried to take an church and make one like you they said we will not walk there in I said way let's walk there in they said we will walk there in they threw me out too to the next church threw me out because I tried to go back to the old days church and old man in that second church was 82 years old that old man came to me and said we're going to preach next
[15:10] Sunday and I was very discouraged as a brother I don't know what to do I tried this twice I turned it down I can't do this praise God that's why I like him you preach like that preach when I fall!
[15:31] don't you ever change and I said I don't know what to do next you are going to be at my house next Sunday we're going to start with old fashion independent this is an old guy that was a deacon 60 years and his tombstone was already carved with his name on outside the church and his wife!
[15:57] was proud and he said we're going to build one of those old passion independent soul winning hell inspired damnation preaching churches like you're talking about I said do you know what you're saying and he said I don't exactly what I'm saying and my family will crucify and we're going to do it and he took that old man to make me a chance I didn't want to leave all that stuff!

We built an independent ass church God blessed that thing and we have been going ever since I gave up a lot for it I mean I did this on purpose and then I found a whole country full of people like me that was in the settlers and I don't know what to do again we lost all that I don't find any right means more now I'm the odd number I'm the odd number what am I to do I want you to get a burden for what I don't want you to say it like I don't want you to say well whatever you know whatever you know you know I know your church is going to die I've got to get you to see what

[22:37] I've got a little track here I've used it for years it's comparing the NIV which is the most popular with the KJP just listen to me in the NIV hell is omitted 40 times abomination abominable such words omitted 139 times Christ is omitted 52 times fornication is never mentioned many entire verses are missing in the NIV so that's the first thing well there are multitudes of changing when they got through changing things and took out the NIV they had left out from the King James 64,000 words and that's a lot left in time and God wrote his Bible and in the very last chapter he said don't you mess with my Bible don't you add to it and don't you take it from it because if you take it from it
[23:47] I'm going to take your name out of the book of life and they took out 64,000 there's 5,000 changes in the report to be honest now man doesn't have anything to do with that and I'm going to tell you the truth let me just give you some of this stuff I don't have time to give you all of it the deity of Christ is attacked alright the King James Bible says when he saw Jesus afar off he ran to worship him the NIV says when he saw Jesus from a distance he fell on the knee I fall on my knees a lot of times I worship God was scared too they're taking out all they can about Jesus the father of the child cried out and said in tears Lord I believe help thou my unbelief the NIV said immediately the boy thought and exclaimed I do believe that he'll go I left out Lord she said no man Lord the King the NIV says no one sir leave it out Lord as much as he can for a fruit against thy holy child Jesus

[31:54] Walter Wilson was a great writer and preacher of another generation he told a story about this preacher he said everybody that hears my voice will know who I'm saved if I called his name he is famous famous you would know him he never thought of him he said everybody knows this man and he said I want to see him on his death to say goodbyes this famous preacher and I walked in the room and he looked at me and his face was why did you Walter Wilson said and he looked at me and said Walter I'm dying and I'm going to take you and Wilson said I was done with that I thought he was delirious I said what did you say and he said I'm not saved I'm going to hell and he said you can't be serious I've known him for a long time
[32:55] I'm going to hell and he said I told him get on your knees let's get out of here and he said I can't fix this now it's too late God will not let you get saved now I'm going to and he said that great evangelist that everybody is going to get by heart dies freaks they'll end fire to earth we going to keep that salvation story pure we better not just assume that everybody is saved when that bible said few there be that man because many go down to the broadway we take that the man in the southern convention that keeps all the records goes from church to church and so says to and writes the book every year Jim

[34:48] Christ will sing do that sometimes he said he was Jack Howells song director he was going to Texas one day howells preached a sermon down in Texas gave the invitation to Bill Hart left leaving the scene he got on his crying howells said he said somebody have to pray with him and the deacon came back and said sir Bill Harvey says he's not saved because he's known he's not saved for a long time I said get down there and you say the man who was a song director for a great preacher in this country for six years and became the music director for also a lot time was a man in ministry and he got saved
[35:48] I'm not him I was his associate pastor named Jim White still why! his wife when House announced that Bill Harvey just got saved she got up and said I need to get saved to you don't you ever take lightly that there is a way that Bible says you go to heaven and you don't go to heaven you don't go to heaven but you are son of anything전 r전 r these stories are not unusual you born again. Don't you trust anything else?
[36:57] You trust Jesus. And when you trust him fully and completely, something changes inside you. And you got it. We're not going to change that. We're going to keep preaching that.
[37:11] We're going to keep preaching that. That's the old man. That's the way you get saved. One of the things that I fear is standing at the judgment.
[37:25] I have to give an account to my church. You know that. 13, 17. And so, all of you come down, gather in a group. And then the Lord starts to say, that one, that one, that one.
[37:41] You can go out. You're not saved. That one, that one, that one. You're not in the church. You're impossible. You can go. I didn't know that. I fear it.
[37:55] Let me tell you something. Don't you ever take it lightly and assume that you're saved with God. Somebody said you are on your sign of the card.
[38:06] Amen. And you pray a prayer. Come on. If you didn't trust in God fully and meant for him to change you, and you were sincere, if you thought you could just get a fire and you thought you would attack a little like the devil, you didn't get it.
[38:20] You go through that baptism 40 times and you were just coming out of a wet syndrome. You went and cried. That's all. If you didn't really sincerely say, oh God, I'm a sinner.
[38:32] I'm not right. I can't go to heaven like this. Please change me. Make me a child of God. I'm a servant. Amen. If you didn't expect to be changed and get changed, if you didn't get saved.
[38:43] Right. I don't mean the priest who's trying to rob you. You're a church. But we got to get serious about this thing. Several times in the Bible it says you make sure calling and election sure.
[38:57] You make sure you're safe. Number three. The old Bible, the old fighting salvation, number two. The old music.
[39:10] Number three. That's where he's going to get you. That's where he gets you. I don't want any special singer to sing anything modern or new.
[39:22] I want the, I want Lisa, Lisa, I mean we need for her, however old she is. I want her to police this.
[39:34] I want people to, let Lisa know what they're planning to sing. She knows what I know. She knows what I want, what I don't want. And all you special singers, you take it to Lisa before you sing.

[41:45] I never have been born at that. I'm always going to miss it. God cannot bless that unless that group that made that recording is the right kind of people.
[41:57] If they're just good musicians and they put that together, you're playing that in church, God, I'm going to bless that. And we don't know what's behind all these things. So we just, when I came here, we just decided not to do that.
[42:12] Some of them may be okay, but just to be sure, every special song, we have here, somebody can do the best and the school. That's the old way. That's the, hey, I grew up in this stuff, man.
[42:24] I was going to a good old-fashioned church nine months from where I was born. My mother played piano. I sat with her until I was three years old and I said, I know what I'm talking about.
[42:38] That's the old way. I'm old. Like Chris said the other day, I was on a ladder and I cleaned my gutter down. Chris came to me, what are you doing, a preacher up on that ladder? I said, I'm good. He said, let me tell you something you don't know.
[42:50] You haven't, you don't know. You're old. You're dead. And I said, yeah, you're dead.
[43:03] But anyway, I got my gutters cleaned up. You did that for me. I'm old folks. I bet you don't know what you have. I know how they used to do it. My mother did it.
[43:15] We have a special song and somebody can play it. It's just the way it is. That's the old folks. I don't want to make you hot man. And I will be careful of music. Thank God for Scott Griffin.
[43:27] A young man that's got it right. You cannot go wrong with Scott Griffin. He already has songs on the financial institute. I'm thankful for that because music is where the devil gets in most, almost all churches.
[43:43] Let's move on. I've got one more. One more point. Ask for the old kind of church. The old kind of church.
[43:58] We're a little bit different than that church when I was sitting there. We dressed up different. The tithes back then were that white.
[44:13] And they came down to that view. And the lapels were that white. And people look front of you.
[44:25] Oh, they look stylish then. Now they look front of you. And all the women wear hats. Wear hats. Yeah, put it back on.
[44:37] Don't be afraid that's the old hat. I mean, we look a little different. But I can transport you right back there to Bethany Baptist Church out of the boy.
[44:48] And I can set you in the crowd and you feel right. Because the preacher got up and announced the old hymn number. The piano played it.
[45:00] He beat it. And we sang and it raised the roof. And then the preacher got up and preached like a house. Now we had this change.
[45:11] We had this change. We had two corners up here. Amen corners. Those are the little old. You think I'm the old guy that's older? The old mustache is drooled down.
[45:26] Cotton hair. I love to tell this. I tell this once in a while. My grandpa was on one side and the other grandfathers and the other priest would say and you'd just hear this boy sound like thunder.
[45:45] He'd come out of both these corners. He'd preach that man to death. Sticking. That's why I'd say sticking was a call. And then all scattered all over the crowd.
[45:56] Hey! There's my preaching. You'd feel right at home. Your sleepers would. Your sleepers would be at home. No, they wouldn't let you sleep. The singing or the amen or something or some usher might hit you in a white spot.
[46:14] They wouldn't let you sleep. But otherwise you'd be right at home. I'm talking about 70 years ago. Oh! You're in the 70 back here.
[46:28] That's the old way. Come on. Still do it like that? I still change it the way we have church. Hymns, not chords. One song later, not three or four with guitars.
[46:43] I'm not against the guitar. You can use those sometimes. Live music, soul winning blessings. Come on. Preaching services, not worship services.
[46:57] that is destroyed Baptist work. That is destroyed. I don't know who started that but somebody for the devil did a great work when he started probably worshiping.
[47:11] All you see and all you hear from Southern Baptist is we got to worship. We're going down to worship. You're not in here to worship. You're in here to get your high.
[47:23] That's what you are. You worship over your own time. Show me in the Bible where it is. I have been through that Bible on the word worship and it's always an individual matter.
[47:40] Worship means to love and adore God. You do that yourself. It's not a worship service, a preaching service. That's the old path. That's the old way. We're going to always have preaching.
[47:54] If we gather here we're going to have preaching. We're not going to say, well we're going to have Eastern Cantata next Sunday night to preach. Not here. Not here, brother. Well, we're going to show a film next Sunday night and preach.
[48:08] Not here. God didn't say, by the footage of the film, he didn't say, go on. He didn't say, by the footage of Cantata, God saved the law.
[48:19] He said, by the preaching.! Preach the word! That's what he said. Y'all are going.
[48:31] Well, just think. I'm going to play the church. If I can't lose your church, I'm going. If you don't care for your church, stay with it.
