[0:00] A wee word to the young folk before we sing again. One of the things that I find as I get older is I'm beginning to find it very hard to recognize people.

[0:17] That's something I didn't used to find difficult, but it's something I just don't understand. And my father, I remember I used to laugh at my father at how difficult it was for him to recognize people.

[0:32] And I used to come up to him on the street and I would shake his hand and he would say, oh, nice to see you. And then he would say, oh, it's you.

[0:43] And I used to think, how on earth? But you know this, I'm beginning to get like that myself now because I see people and I stop to speak to them.

[0:54] And then I realize I don't have a clue who they are. And then there's other people and I pass. And it's afterwards I think, oh, I think that was so and so. And it must be part of getting older.

[1:06] I don't know. But it's becoming very difficult. People wave to me in the car, having a clue who it is. And I used to know everybody who passed.

[1:18] So all I can think of that it must be part of getting older where we don't recognize. Our memories get bad because we're always losing things and we can't find things.

[1:32] And we can't remember where we're going or who we're going to see or what we were going to do. One of the problems I have in the house is my glasses. I can see okay looking out but I can't read anything without my glasses.

[1:47] I have four or five pairs and often I'm saying, where are my glasses? In fact, Dolly got me my glasses and it's on the front of it. Has anyone seen my glasses? And it's very, very difficult sometimes when you need them and you can't find them.

[2:07] But, you know, while we might be like that, do you know the wonderful thing is this? That God is not. At no point ever does he not know who we are.

[2:19] You know, this is one of the wonderful things. When we come to God in prayer, as we just did, I don't and you don't have to tell the Lord who it is.

[2:30] You don't have to say, Lord, this is me and give your name. Because he knows. He knows you. In fact, he knows everything about you. And sometimes people say, well, if he knows everything about me, why do I need to come to him?

[2:47] Because he loves you to come to him and to speak to him. There's nothing the Lord loves more than to see particularly young people coming to him and telling him how they are, how they feel, what they're worried about, what their plans are, difficulties they might have in school or in playgroup or with other people.

[3:17] God wants us to come and to tell him everything. And as we say, not only does he recognize us and know us, but he knows every single thing.

[3:29] He actually sees right in, right into the very, he sees right now what you're thinking, what you're thinking about yourself, what you think about other people.

[3:41] He knows everything about us. And that's why when David wrote Psalm 139, he said, Oh Lord, he said, you've searched me and you know me.

[3:52] You know my sitting down. You know when I get up. You know my thoughts. You know everything. And he said, Lord, Lord, please lead me, he said, in the right way.

[4:04] Since you know everything, please lead me in the way everlasting. Lead me in the right way. And that's a great prayer.

[4:14] And I hope all of you, you will keep going to Jesus and keep speaking to him and tell him how it is. We hear Jesus in his word and we speak to him. He wants us to come to him and ask him to help us to believe in him, to trust in him and to follow him.

[4:32] And that he will lead us every day. We're going to sing again in Psalm 41. Psalm 41. And we're going to sing. This is from the Scottish Psalter, verses 3 to 9.

[4:46] Psalm 41, verses 3 to 9. It's on page 261.

[4:57] Psalm 41.

[5:27] Then shall he die that so his name may perish quite away. To see me if he comes, he speaks vain words. But then his heart heaps mischief to it, which he tells when forth he doth depart.

[5:42] Down to verse 9. And yea, even mine own familiar friend, on whom I did rely, who ate my bread, even he is healed against me, lifted high.

[5:53] Psalm 41, verses 3 to 9. God will give strength. God will give strength. God will give strength. God will give strength.

[6:04] God will give strength. When he unhaired, all languishing doth mourn.

[6:20] And in his sickness, O Lord, the whole is dead will turn.

[6:36] I said, O Lord, do thou extend thy mercy unto me.

[6:52] O Lord, do thou hear my soul for why, I have offended thee.

[7:09] O Lord, do thou do thou do not. O Lord, do thou do not. O Lord, do thou do not. Our enemies. Of whatever damage they mees, O Lord, do thou do not.

[7:25] Can you die? That soul is the sight. May perish quite away.

[7:41] To see the end he comes, he speaks, with words of death his heart.

[7:58] He's this shelter in which he tells, when forth he doth depart.

[8:15] My angels join thee, whispering, thanks be my heart devised.

[8:31] With Jim's city, please pass to him, he lieth and shall rise.

[8:47] Give me my Lord, a million friend, on whom I did rely.

[9:03] Through which my bread gave me his shield, against me lifted high.

[9:22] Let us turn to read God's word in John's Gospel, John chapter 13. And last week we were looking at Jesus washing the disciples' feet.

[9:38] And after doing that and then telling them about how they called him Lord and teacher and so on, he was saying that he had given an example to them.

[9:50] Verse 16, we'll read from verse 16 to the end. Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.

[10:01] If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. I am not speaking of all of you. I know whom I have chosen. But the scripture will be fulfilled.

[10:13] He who ate my bread has lifted his heel against me. I am telling you this now before it takes place. That when it does take place, you may believe that I am he.

[10:26] Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me. And whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. After saying these things, Jesus was troubled in the spirit and testified.

[10:42] Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me. The disciples looked at one another, uncertain of whom he spoke. One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was reclining at table close to Jesus.

[10:58] So Simon Peter motioned to him to ask Jesus of whom he was speaking. So that disciple, leaning back against Jesus, said to him, Lord, who is it?

[11:10] Jesus answered, it is he to whom I will give this marshal of bread when I have dipped it. So when he had dipped the marshal, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.

[11:23] Then after he had taken the marshal, Satan entered into him. Jesus said to him, what you are going to do, do quickly. Now no one at the table knew why he had said this to him.

[11:36] Some thought that because Judas had the money bag, Jesus was telling him, buy what we need for the feast, or that he should give something to the poor. So after receiving the marshal of bread, he immediately went out, and it was night.

[11:52] When he had gone out, Jesus said, now is the son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him at once.

[12:08] Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You will seek me, and just as I said to the Jews, so now I also say to you, where I am going, you cannot come.

[12:21] A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have loved one for another.

[12:38] Simon Peter said to him, Lord, where are you going? Jesus answered him, where I am going, you cannot follow me now, but you will follow me afterwards.

[12:49] Peter said to him, Lord, why can I not follow you now? I will lay down my life for you. Jesus answered, will you lay down your life for me?

[13:01] Truly, truly, I say to you, the cock will not crow till you have denied me three times. Amen, and may God bless to us this reading of his holy word. We are going to sing again from Psalm 36 and Sing Psalms.

[13:16] Psalm 36 from Sing Psalms, that is on page 44, and the tune is London New. Psalm 36, page 44, Sing Psalms.

[13:31] Your steadfast love is great, O Lord, it reaches heaven high. Your faithfulness is wonderful, extending to the sky. Your righteousness is very great, like mountains high and steep.

[13:45] Your justice is like ocean depths, both man and beast you keep. How precious is your steadfast love, what confidence it brings. Both high and low find shelter in the shadow of your wings.

[14:00] And so on, Psalm to the end of verse 10, Psalm 36, verses 5 to 10. Your steadfast love is great, O Lord. Your steadfast love is great, O Lord.

[14:21] It reaches heaven high. Your faithfulness is wonderful.

[14:34] Good world, both bustling the stripes in the sky. разработ and worshiping the nations. Your righteousness is strength, O Lord. Eternal, Jealous, always love is great, O Lord. But that is as a large rainbow, absolutely lumens you keep.

[14:47] First turn theẽ of influence to the stars, O Lord. united that you seek its territory. Your righteousness is like ocean depths, Like mountains high and steep. Your righteousness is like ocean depths, book nem parfoish,17 Sean always taking in the sky, are to And peace to be How precious is your steadfast love What confidence it brings O high and low find shelter in The shadow of your wings Faith is within your house and grave From streams of pure delight For with you is the source of life

[15:53] In your light we see life Who want to know you as their God Your steadfast love impart Maintain your righteousness to those Of pure land of bright hearts Let's turn to John chapter 13 and this section that we read John chapter 13 Verse 21 It says there after saying these things Jesus was troubled in his spirit And testified Truly truly I say to you One of you will betray me Then verse 31

[16:54] Now when he had gone out That's when Judas had gone out Jesus said now is the son of man glorified And God is glorified in him Verse 34 A new commandment I give to you That you love one another Just as I have loved you You are also to love one another Last week we saw that powerful scene In the upper room Where Jesus washed the disciples' feet And as we saw that was a task That was usually reserved for the most It was a very menial Usually the lowest servant Was given that kind of task to do It was also a time of great intimacy A time of teaching And a time of togetherness A time of fellowship And a time of love And then we find this change Coming over Jesus In verse 21 Because prior to that

[17:54] You wouldn't know that there was any distress In the heart of Jesus There seems to be this calmness And composure in him Then it changes Because it tells us in verse 21 Jesus was troubled in his spirit In fact it's the same Language that is spoken of Describing how Jesus was At the grave of Lazarus This distress It was like where the water You know at the pool of At Bethesda Where it tells about the troubling of the water Where there was this great movement of the water It's like describing the agitation That would be in a violent crowd Where there's this distress Where there's real uncertainty And movement going on Well internally that's how Jesus was And what was affecting Jesus in this way

[18:56] So that he became really distressed In an inner turmoil Well it tells us What he goes on to say Jesus was troubled in his spirit And he testified Truly, truly I say to you One of me One of you Will betray me And I think we often overlook Just how deeply The betrayal Of Judas Affected Jesus Because we sometimes look at that As a kind of a Minor point And say well Yeah Judas Was one of the twelve And he betrayed Jesus And we kind of Look on Jesus As accepting that In a kind of a stoical way As part of It was part of the cup It was all part of What he had to drink But we also see The impact that it had upon him This wasn't something That he took like In a stride This wasn't something That he just Let sort of As it were Just go over him

[19:56] And not be affected Or touched It caused Deep anguish In the heart Of Jesus It seriously Affected him It distressed him His soul Was in turmoil Over What Judas Was doing And we read here That it is a Fulfillment of that Prophecy Which we sang that In Psalm 41 He who shares My bread Has lifted up His heel Against me To show the bottom Of one's foot In the near east Was a Mark of real Contempt For a person And the language Has the idea Of a A sudden Vicious Violent Kick From a From a Hors And so There is all This caught up In what Judas is doing And so Jesus is showing Here The real hurt That's in the Betrayal And there is A fearful Hurt In betrayal Only those who have

[20:57] Experienced real Betrayal Can identify And understand The hurt And the pain The knife Entering into the Heart And turning Around And like Screwing Right within The heart And that's What betrayal Does To betray Someone is one Of the worst Things really a Person can do And here we Have it in Its highest Form And so Here is Judas And probably There was Nobody Who had Greater Privileges There was Probably No one Who lived Closer to Jesus And experienced More of Jesus Who was Lost Than Judas Judas Was a man Who had Everything And yet He lost It all Judas At the end Of the day Preferred his Thirty pieces Of silver To having Jesus And Judas Is a Is a Is a Terrible warning To us Of somebody Who ate With Jesus And drank With Jesus

[21:58] And walked With Jesus And talked With Jesus And went Out preaching For Jesus And did Many things For Jesus And I Fully believe That along The way There were Times when Judas Had a deep Affection For Jesus I don't For one Moment think That Judas The whole Time through Was plotting How to Destroy Jesus Because When Jesus said That one Was going To betray None of Them Automatically Thought That'll be Judas Said that Before But nobody Automatically Thought That'll be Judas We know What he's Like They didn't And Judas Himself Didn't I believe For a Large part Of the Time Because Judas There's no Doubt Whatever That Judas Did In his Own way Though it Wasn't A saving Love Love Jesus But Afterwards We see Just how The anguish Where Judas Realized

[22:58] In utter Despair What he Had What he had Actually Done So Here Is Judas And We find That He Hands He leads The enemy To Jesus Of course Jesus Is Very Aware That Underlying It All Is The work Of Satan And It's Interesting How Jesus Actually Says That It's And And The Bible Tells That Satan Entered Into Judas Iscariot's Heart It's Almost As If Satan Is Saying To Many Of The Fallen Angels Look There's A work Here To Do But I'm Not Even Going To Send One Of You To Do It This Is The Work Leave This I'm Actually Going To Take Charge Of This Myself It's As If Satan Wouldn't Give This Over To Anybody Else Because This Was His Hour And

[23:58] The Power Of Darkness So It's Satan Himself We Find Who Is Entering Into Judas Heart And It's A Very Serious And A Solemn Thing Where We Find That Somebody Can Be So In The Grip Of The Enemy Because We Find That Really Judas Is Powerless To Resist Because He Hasn't The Help Of Jesus He Hasn't The Help Of God's Grace He's On His Own And He's Powerless To Resist And You Know There Are Times If We're Honest With Our Shows When The Power Of The Power I Don't Know Whether It's The Power Of Darkness Or Just The Power Of The Darkness Of Our Heart Where We Sometimes Are In The Grip Of Not But The Paths Of Unrighteousness And There's Like A Force And A Power Within Us Compelling

[24:59] Us To Go Along That And Even Although We Know It's The Wrong Way We're Still Determined To Go Along It And These Are The Times When We've Really Got To Cry To The Lord And Say Lord I Need Your Help I Am I Feel That There Is A Power There's A Force Within Me That Is Driving Me On That Is Taking Me Where I Don't Want To Go And Yet There Is Something Driving Me On And Compelling Me On You Know We Are Really Weak And There Are Times We Discover Our Weakness And How Much We Are Dependent Upon God's Help And Strength And Grace And That Grace Is Sufficient For Us That Grace Is There For Us But It Wasn't For Judas Because Judas Was On His Own He Had Chosen To Be On His Own He Had Chosen To Reject Jesus And So Jesus Is As We Said He Is Troubled In Spirit And So Here Jesus Is Amongst

[25:59] This Tight Group This Tight Little Group Of Followers And There's This Intimacy And There's This Fellowship But He Knows That One Of Them Is Going To Betray And When You Jesus Knows That There's A Cup That He Has To Drink From He's Going To Go Into The Most Awful Place Of Pain Into The Furnace Of Affliction But The First Step That He's Going To Have To Take Is Through The Betrayal Of One Whom He Had Picked As A Disciple And That That Was Part Of You See It Was Like Satan Was Maximizing Every Single Step That Jesus Was Going To Take To Make It The Worst Possible It Was Like Satan Was Saying Right How Can I Make This As Painful And As Traumatic And As Difficult And As Agonizing As Possible Now Of Course We Know That Jesus Already

[26:59] Knew What Was Going To Take Place And So We Find That Jesus Is Telling The Disciples What Is Going To Happen And Of Course That Comes As A Shock Truly Truly I Say To You One Of You Will Betray Me The Disciples Looked At One Another Uncertain Of Whom He Spoke Now It Doesn't Say It In This Gospel But In The Gospels We Find That They Began To Question Among Themselves And They Were Saying Lord Is It I And Here We Find That They Are Looking At One Another You Can Almost See Their Jaws Drop Their Mouths Open Their Eyes Widen And It's Like That Is The Most Amazing Statement Jesus Has Just Made One Of Us Is Going To Betray Him And We Find Then That Simon Peter One Of His Disciples Were Told One Of His Disciples Whom Jesus

[27:59] Loved Was Reclining A Table Close To Jesus So Simon Peter Motioned To Ask Jesus Whom He Was Speaking So That Disciple Leaning Back Against Jesus Said To him Lord Who Is It Now A lot Of People Find A bit Of A Problem With This Because This Writer Is John And We Find John Refers This Isn't The Only Time He Refers To The Disciple Whom Jesus Loved And Some People Say Well Isn't Jesus Guilty Of Favoritism And Isn't John Being Rather Arrogant When He's Writing About Himself To Say The Disciple Jesus Loved He But I Don't Think For One Moment That John Is In Any Way Being Arrogant And That John Is Not Saying I Often Used To Think That That That That That's What John Was Saying When It Says The Disciple That Jesus Loved That

[28:59] John Was Saying Jesus Loved Me More Than Anybody Else But I Think What John Is Very Simply Saying Is I Am The Disciple I Am It's As If He's Not Aware Of Anybody Else Around It's Just Himself And Jesus It's Like The Apostle Paul The Apostle Paul Couldn't Get Over The Fact And Paul Often Talks About It How Jesus Loved Him Of How God Loved Him Despite What He Had Been Paul Writes In The Same Way I'm Sure You've Stood Down At The Shore Or At The Seaside And You've Seen A Beautiful Setting Sun And You Know Sometimes As The Sun Is Still Quite High But It's On Its Way Down And Its Beam Comes Right Into The Shore And You're Standing There And There's The Sun Beautiful Evening And The Sun Beams Are Running Along The Water Right To Where You Are And

[29:59] You're Saying Wow That Is Coming Straight To Me But The Person Beside You Would Say The Very Same Thing And The Person A hundred Meters Along Would Say The Very Same Thing Because As They're Standing It's Like The Sun Beams Are Running Right Along And In A Sense That's What We Have Here Here Is The Love Of Jesus Shining Down And John So Aware Of It And It's As He Feels As If He's The Only One He Knows He's Not But He Is Simply Saying I Am A Disciple That Jesus Loved And He's Overwhelmed By That So I Don't Think That John Is Actually Saying Jesus Loved Me More Than Anybody Else But It It It Could Be That Jesus Actually Did It's Very Obvious That There Were Three Disciples That Jesus Elevated There Were The Three That He Took With Him On Certain Occations Peter James And John And It Would Appear That There Was Something About

[31:00] John That Was Most That Jesus Maybe Could Identify With More Than Any And That's Probably One Of The Reasons Why Jesus Put His Mother Into The Care Of John It Could Be That Jesus Had A Special Affection For John It's Quite Possible But I Don't Think In Any Way That John Is Being Arrogant Here Or Boasting About Him Being Better Or More Loved Than Any Of The Other Disciples Anyway John Discover Who It Is And Jesus Said To John That He Would Identify The Traitor By Taking A Marshal Of Bread And He Said That's What He Said Jesus Answered It Is He To Whom I Will Give This Marshal Of Bread When I Have Dipped It Now At At At At At Time In The Near East It Was The Custom Of The Host To Give A

[32:00] Dipped Marshal Of Bread To Almost Like The Favourite The One That He Wanted To Give The Highest Place And The Highest Honor To And I Believe That In This Action Jesus Is Making A Final Appeal To Judas It Is As If Jesus Is Saying To Judas Look Judas After All We've Been Through After All We've Shared After All You've Done For Me And After All I've Done For You Look Judas Here Here's This Marshal Are You Still Are You Still Going To Do What You're Planning To Do And He Gave The Marshal Of Bread To Judas And It Tells Us That Judas After Receiving The Marshal Of Bread He Immediately Went Out And It Was Night You Know What A Picture Out Into The Dark Here's This Room Of Intimacy Of Friendship Of Fellowship Of Love And Judas

[33:00] Is Leaving It All And He Goes Out Into The Dark His Heart Was Dark His Deed Was Dark His Future Was Dark Everything He's Walking Away From The Light Forever That Was It The only Time he was Ever Going to See Jesus Again Was to Come up To him And kiss Him The kiss Of That Was He Was He Was He Walks Out Into The Night It Has Been Said That There Is A Road Leading From The Very Gates Of Heaven To Hell And Judas Is An Example A Picture Of Somebody Who Walked That Road It's Frightening It's Terrifying And Yet That's What Judas Is Now I Don't Think Any Of The Other Disciples Bar John Knew Exactly What Was Going On Here Because It Tells Us Now No One At The Table Knew Why He Had Said This To Him Some Thought That Because Judas Had The Money

[34:00] Bag Jesus Was Telling Him To Go Out And Buy Something Something So They The Others Thought That Jesus Was Just Saying On You Go And Sort Out Some Transaction Or Give Money To The Poor Or Whatever And So Judas Goes Out Into The Dark But I Think The Church Has Also To Take On Board What We Have Here Because There Have Always Been Those Within The Church Who Have Turned Out Kind Of Judas And Sometimes The Church Gets Very Distressed And Obviously We Can Understand How And Why But We're Never To Think Oh This Is The End Of The Road Oh Isn't This Terrible Because Jesus Has Shown That That's How It's Going To Be He Said The Wheat And The Tears Grow Together That Within The Sphere Of The Visible Church There Will Be Those Who Love Jesus And Those Who Don't And Judas Is A Prime Example Even In This Closest Group And This Closest Fellowship

[35:01] Of What Can Actually Be And So We Find Here That Judas He Goes Out Into The Night And Then Jesus Says In Verse 31 Now Is The Son Of Man Glorified And God Is Glorified In Him And So Jesus Is Making This Extraordinary Statement That Despite The Fact That The Cross Is Going To Appear The Most Ugly Brutal Awful Thing In The World It's Going To Appear To So Many People As If Jesus That Everything He Was And Stood For Is Going To Come To An End He Claimed To Be The Son Of God If He's The Son Of God Surely This Is Proving Once And For All That He Isn't How Come That He's Saying That God Is Going To Be Glorified And That He's Going To Be Glorified Well The Cross Certainly Brought Glory To God Because The Cross Is Revealing The

[36:02] Wisdom Of God In Planning And Purposing A Way Of Salvation The Cross Shows The Faithfulness Of God Because All The Promises Of The Old Testament That Pointed To Christ Are Now Being Fulfilled People Couldn't Understand It Before This But All The Promises Are Coming Together And Any Person Who Was Prepared To Study The Word Of God Would See Oh It's All Being Fulfilled The Cross Showed The Holiness Of God That God Being God Cannot Just Turn A Blind Eye To Sin But That He Is In His Wisdom And In His Love Is Going To Find A Way To Deal With That Sin So That His Holiness Is Not In Any Way Compromised And That His Justice And His Love And His Mercy And His Judgment And Everything Comes Together On The Cross It

[37:02] Is A Great Display Of Who God Is And It's Only As We Really Focus Upon That That We Begin To Understand It And Jesus Himself On The Cross Shows His Love His Mercy His Compassion His Patience His Faithfulness His Power All These Things It's No Wonder The Apostle Paul Said God Forbid He Said That I Should Glory In Anything Save In The Cross Of Jesus Christ And Then From Verse 33 Jesus Says Little Children Yet A Little While I Am With You You Will Seek Me And Just As I Said To The Jews So Now I Also Say To You Where I Am Going You Cannot Come A New This Is Not A New Commandment Because It Is Really A Summary Of What Was Already Given Remember The Summary Of The Law Of God Is To Love The Lord With All Your

[38:02] Heart Your Soul Your Mind And To Love Your Neighbor As Yourself And Jesus To A Certain Extent Is Just Reiterating What Has Already Been And So Here Is A Commandment That He Gives To The Church And This Is The Fundamental Commandment And I Wonder Why Jesus Gave This Commandment Just Before He Went Away I Believe It Was Because He Knew That If There Was One Thing The Church Was Most Liable To Be Guilty Of Down Throughout The Ages It Was In This Very Thing A Lack Of Love One For Another And When You Look At The History If You Study Scottish Church History Go Right Back Go Right Back In Church History It Is Nothing But Division Division Division Split Split Split Split Split You Go Back All The Generations It Is Nothing But Splitting

[39:02] Splitting Splitting Splitting Splitting Division Division Division Division And If You Never Studied Scottish Church History It Is Worth Your While Just Having Our Look At How It Is And I Believe That's One Of The Reasons Why Jesus Says Look As I'm Going Away I'm Giving You A New Commandment That You Love One Another Just As I Have Loved You Wow How Did Jesus Love Well Jesus Loved By Giving Himself Totally Jesus Didn't Hold Back You See What What We're Often Guilty Of Doing We Say Oh Yes I Love Everybody Until Somebody Does Something Or Somebody Says Something Then Love Goes Out The Window I'm Not Having That Imagine If God In Christ Was To Deal With Us Like That Every Time We Did Something Wrong Every Time That We Were Irrational

[40:03] Every Time That We Misbehaved That He Just He His Love Never Changes It Never Ends Jesus Is Saying Look Just As I Have Loved You So You Are To Love One Another What Is The Great Definition Of Being A Christian Well We Could Cite Many Things Do You Know What The Great Definition Is It's Love And Jesus Is Saying This Is What He Says That Where I Am A New Commandment I Give That You Love One Another Just As I Loved You You Also Are To Love One Another By This All People Will Know You Are My Disciples If You Have Loved One For Another That Is The True That Is The Highest Mark Of

[41:04] The Christian Faith Because As John Elsewhere When He's Writing Remember How John Says He That Loves Not And He's Talking About The Brother He That Loves Not Does Not Know God That's What John In One Of His Letters Wrote God And That Is Why I Believe Jesus Has Said This Before He Goes He's Looking After This Is His Church The Church Remember Doesn't Belong To You To Me Doesn't Belong To Us It Belongs To Jesus Christ And Here Is Jesus Before He Goes And He's Speaking To The Church And He Says Look You Gotta Love One Another Of Course Love Costs Love Costs Jesus Everything It Costs Him His Life He Couldn't Give More But See The Result And The Result Of Unconditional Love Is Powerful

[42:05] It Is The Most Powerful Fortune In The Whole World It Is Drawing It Is Winning It Overcomes I Wonder How Many People Have Walked Away From Church Because Of Divisions Because Of Splits Because Of Christians Falling Out Because Of All These Things All Over The Place I Wonder Over The Years Over The Centuries How Many People Have Turned Their Back Because Of These Things And That's What Jesus Is Warning About Before He Goes To The Cross May Make Sure That You Love One Another This Is The Defining Mark The Defining Evidence That You Belong To Me It's Searching It can Be Disturbing That's Why The Words Of Jesus They Were Often Radical They Were Revolutionary It Goes Right

[43:05] Against Human Nature Human Human Nature Wants To Get Even Human Nature Wants To Retaliate Human Nature Goes In The Half Human Nature Stops Talking Human Nature Breaks Up Jesus Says No You've Got To Love Just As I Loved And Then Finally Simon Peter Said Lord Where Are You Going Jesus Tell Him Well Where I'm Going You Cannot Go Now But You'll Follow Me After Word And In Light Of Jesus Talking About The Love Peter Says Lord He Says I'll Lay Down My Life For You And Jesus Really Is Saying To Peter You Know Peter It's Not For Dying For Me That You're Going To Be Known But For Denying Me That Must Have Come As A Real Shock To Peter Sure Peter Couldn't Believe His Ears And Jesus Said You Know Peter Despite Your Proud Boast You're

[44:06] Going To Deny Me But You Know The Wonderful Thing Is This Yes Peter Denied Jesus And He Repented And He Was Restored But You Know The Wonderful Thing Is That Jesus Has Never Denied Us Imagine If Jesus Had Stopped And He Says I Can't Do It Imagine If Jesus Held Back And He Said Oh This Cup Is Too Much I Can Father Father You're Going To Have To Let Me Out Of This I Can't Do It Well We Wouldn't Be Here Today We Would Have No Hope We Would Have No Future But Jesus Didn't Stop He Didn't Hold Back He Went All The Way For Us I Hope Today You Will Know What That Actually Is And What It Means In Your Own Soul In Your Own Life Let Us Pray Oh Gracious And Ever

[45:06] Blessed Lord We Give Thanks For Oh For This This Word Telling Us Who Jesus Is And What Jesus Has Done We Give Thanks Oh Lord For The Description That We Have In John's Gospel John Who Shows So Much Of The Divinity Of Jesus But Yet Shows So Much Of His Human Affection We Pray Lord To Bless Us All And Give Us Health And Strength We Pray To Bless Those Who Are Ill And Those Who Have Many Difficulties In Life We We Remember Lord The Tea In The Afternoon On Saturday For The Motor Neuron Disease And We Give Thanks Oh Lord For All That Is Been Done And We Pray To Be With All Who Suffer From That And We Pray Oh Lord That You Will Bring Great Minds There Are So Many Great Minds Who Are Able To Bring

[46:07] Things Forward So That Something Will Be Found That Will Not Only Alleviate But Might Indeed Be Able To Cure Oh Lord We Know That You Are The Great Physician We Pray Then To Bless Us All And To Do Us Good Grant Us Grace In Everything And For Everything Bless The Kabuti In The Hall After And Take Away Sin In Jesus Name Amen We Are Going To Conclude Singing In Psalm 133 Psalm 133 From the Scottish Psalter The Tunis Brother James Aire Psalm 133 From the Scottish Psalter Which is On page 424 Behold How good A thing It is And How Becoming Well Together Such As Brethren Are In Unity To Dwell Like

[47:07] Precious Ointment On The Head That Down The Bearded Flow Even Aaron's Beard Unto The Skirts Did Of His Garments Go As Hermon's Jew The Jew That Doth On Zion Hills Descend For There The Blessing God Commands Life That Shall Never End The whole Psalm Behold How Good A Thing It Is Behold How Good A Thing It Is The Sons Are Becoming Well Together Such As Brethren Are In Unity Together In Unity To

[48:10] Spefahring Onymmаемся He made on spear land to the skirts, did off his garments go.

[48:25] He made on spear land to the skirts, did off his garments go.

[48:36] But there, Monsieur, to that job, on Sion's hills descend.
