[0:00] Take your Bible, if you would, and turn with me to Psalm 62. Psalm 62. If you mark your Bible, there's two weights in there also.
[0:13] You can mark those. That's pretty good. This psalm's probably written when Absalom rebelled. You know, Absalom has thrown David out of his kingdom, and Absalom has slept with his wives on the rooftop so that people will know that he won and David lost, and David has been on the run, and people want to kill him.
[0:34] He is suffering for the consequences of his sin. Something you ought never forget is this. God may forgive your sin, but that doesn't mean that there are no consequences.
[0:46] So if a Christian were to go out today and get drunk and get arrested, he might think, well, why did God let that happen? Well, because you got drunk.
[0:57] Just because you're saved doesn't give you a right to go out and get drunk. You get in trouble. David got in trouble. Sin's forgiven. David hadn't been taking care of business in his kingdom. Instead of taking care of business, he got caught up in other things, and so Absalom went outside the temple and started talking to people and turned people's hearts, and he stole them away.
[1:18] Now David's out here, and he's in danger, and he writes another song. It's a song that would have been sung. Every one of these psalms are a song that would have been sung in a worship service that they would have had.
[1:34] And in this psalm, he's saying, who are you trusting? Trust God. Don't trust anybody else. Wait on God. Don't wait on anyone else. And so when we start down here in verse 1, David knows that it's God alone that can rescue him.
[1:51] Read with me, if you would, Psalm 62 and verse 1. Truly my soul waits upon God. From him comes my salvation.
[2:04] David is not trusting his friends. David is not trusting his armies. David is not trusting his slingshot. David is not trusting what he can do.
[2:15] David says, I must wait on God. That's a massive lesson for every one of us, because we usually use God as a last resort.
[2:26] When we've used up the doctors, when we've used up the lawyers, when we used up our money, when we used up our contacts and our friends, we recently turned to God.
[2:37] But David said, no, no, my soul waits upon God. From him comes my salvation. Now that salvation right there is rescue.
[2:48] He's not talking about going to heaven. He's talking about the fact that his life is being hunted. He's talking about the fact that they're trying to kill him, that they've taken his throne. And somewhere, somehow, God's going to rescue him.
[3:00] It does apply to your salvation for you. But when David wrote that, he wasn't like, well, I lost my salvation when I got kicked out. I sure hope I get saved. That's not what's going on here. Go to Psalm 62, 2, if you would.
[3:14] See, he's going to say, God's the only one. And I really challenge you to circle the word only in your Bible. He only is my defense and my salvation, my rock and my salvation.
[3:27] Well, I just wish you'd read it like that. He only is my rock and my rescue. He only is my defense. I shall not be greatly moved.
[3:40] Now, David says, boy, things are bad. Things are bad, but I trust only in God. And I shall not be greatly moved. My life may be shaken.
[3:52] Things may be messed up. I may not know what's going to happen tomorrow, but I won't be too bad. If you were ever living in South America, you would have gone through some earthquakes or tremors.
[4:02] We call them there. They have to be really bad before you cause an earthquake. And you could be sitting in your house and on the second or third floor, and the house just got to move and things fall off the walls.
[4:13] I used to just love it. I thought it was the funnest thing in the world, like riding an earthquake, you know. And I was laying in the bed one day sick, and my wife, this was a really bad one.
[4:24] You could hear them coming like a train. You'd just be out in your house, you'd think, there's a train fixing to run right through the center of my house. Not a train, it's an earthquake, and you hear it coming. And my wife started yelling, and she said, you better get out of the bed.
[4:37] This is a big one. And I was laying in the bed, and I was sick, and my TV started doing this number, and I thought, I've got to get out of bed and save my TV. I didn't get to it.
[4:48] It fell and cracked into pieces. And David said, hey, I might be shaken, but I won't be greatly moved. But I want you to notice, he said, he only.
[4:59] He's the one I trust. He's the one I believe in. He's the one I'm looking to. He only, not anybody else, no other person, not myself. He only is my rock.
[5:11] Now, I don't know if you paid attention, but here is a rock. And what is a rock doing in this verse? He only is my rock. That's actually a pretty fairly term, fairly normal term if you're a Bible reader.
[5:27] Some of you probably don't read your Bibles that much, and so you're like, he's my rock? What's that mean? Let me show you some Bible verses. I'll go through them pretty quickly with you. In Deuteronomy 32, 4, Moses said, he is the rock.
[5:44] His work is perfect for all his ways are judgment. A God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. He is the rock. Who is the rock?
[5:55] God is the rock. If you look in chapter 32 and verse 4, he is the rock. If you look in chapter 62 and verse 2, he only is my rock.
[6:06] He's my only God. And in just a few chapters, Solomon will pick up other gods. And he won't be able to say he's my only rock.
[6:16] And he'll mess up. And he's going to bring destruction to the kingdom. But God was David's only rock. In Deuteronomy chapter 32 and verse 15, the Bible says in the last part of that verse, he forsook God, which made him and lightly esteemed the rock of his salvation.
[6:38] He lightly esteemed the rock of his salvation. In Deuteronomy chapter 13 and verse 18, of the rock that begat thee, thou art unmindful.
[6:48] You have forgotten the God that gave you birth and has forgotten the God that formed thee. In Deuteronomy 32, 31, for their rock is not as our rock.
[6:59] That's one of my favorites. That's one of my favorites. They're all sitting around talking and everybody's got a rock. You know, lost people got a rock. And Buddhists have got a rock.
[7:10] And Muslims have got a rock. They got something they trust in. And Moses said, well, they're rocking it like our rock. They're rocking it like our rock.
[7:21] Don't you ever accept that we're all worshiping the same God. No, their rock's not like our rock. Kyle Shreve did a wonderful job in a missions conference.
[7:32] I was just preaching and he got up and he told the church people that he knew Larry Bird. He said, if all you people, if you heard of Larry Bird and some of them, you know, he's a basketball player.
[7:45] And Kyle said, I met Larry Bird. He said, well, not that Larry Bird. The one I met was like five foot four and about as wide as he was tall. And he, but his name was Larry Bird.
[7:56] He said, that's how most people know Jesus. They don't know the real Jesus. They knew a substitute Jesus. They know a different Larry Bird than a real Larry Bird. Their rock's not like our rock.
[8:06] Say amen. Their rock's not like our rock. Second Samuel 23, three. The God of Israel said, the rock of Israel spake to me.
[8:17] The rock of Israel. The word rock refers to strength and power. Now, when you get to the New Testament in 1 Corinthians chapter 10 and verse 4, you find out the rock was Jesus.
[8:30] The Christ. The Messiah. The Bible says, and did all drink the same spiritual drink for the drink of that spiritual rock that followed them. That rock was Christ.
[8:43] For those of you that are Bible studyers, if you'll remember, Moses was told to strike the rock once and he struck the rock twice. And God got angry because Christ only gets struck once.
[8:55] Jesus only dies once. He doesn't die repeatedly. He dies one time. That's all he dies. Only God was David's strength and his salvation and his defense.
[9:07] He said in Psalm 62, 2, he only is the rock, is my rock and my salvation and my defense. I shall not be greatly moved.
[9:20] David said, David knew that he would stand on the rock and he wouldn't be shaken. When death comes knocking at your door, you're liable to get shaken.
[9:34] But you like to be much moved if you know the rock, you're standing on the rock, you're founded in the rock, and the rock is what you base everything on because he will get you through.
[9:48] Have you flown to the rock that is higher than you? In Psalm 61, 2, he said, from the end of the earth will I cry unto thee. When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
[10:01] Now I want you to face another word in this. I know I went and showed you what the word rock meant because I want you to understand it's all God. That's just what you, God is the only way you get saved.
[10:15] God's the only way. He's the only way. So in verse 2, I want you to circle that word only. He only is my rock. He only is my salvation.
[10:27] He only is my defense. And I shall not be greatly moved. That applies greatly to our salvation. Jesus only saves.
[10:38] That's interesting. In Psalm 62, in verse 2, and in verse 5, and in verse 6, it's only, only, only. Why in the world do we think we ought to send mysteries all around the world?
[10:53] Because there's only one way to go to heaven. Why in the world do we think we ought to witness people talking about Jesus? Because there's only one way. No, tell it how many times I've been on an airplane flying somewhere, and they asked me what I was doing.
[11:05] And I said, I'm a missionary. And they said, so what do you do? You dig wells? Or are you a doctor? Or what do you do? And I said, no, I just teach the Bible and show them about Jesus who died on a cross so they can be saved.
[11:16] And they almost invariably say, well, they already have their own religion. But I have to remember, there's only one way. The Bible says in Acts chapter 4 and verse 12, Neither is there salvation in any other.
[11:32] For there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. There is no other way to God. When I was a kid, people said all the time, there are many roads to Rome.
[11:46] You're just on the Baptist road. Let me explain to you, I'm not on the Baptist road. I'm on the Jesus road. And it's the only way to God. And Buddhism and Islam and Hinduism and every other religion, they can't get to God.
[12:01] Because they don't know God. And there's only one way. In John 14, 6, he said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me.
[12:14] Jesus said, God the Father. God the Creator God. God the Judge of the universe. God that owns everything. He said, there's no one against him if they don't come through me.
[12:27] So this morning, in different countries around the world, our young men and women went to Sunday school and then they went to church. And that young man stood up and held a Bible in front of a people that might not believe the Bible and might not accept Christianity and might reject all about it.
[12:43] And they said, you must come to God through Jesus. He only, he only is the way. In 1 Timothy chapter 2 and verse 5, there's one God and one mediator between God and man.
[12:58] God and men. The man, Christ Jesus. Who gave himself a ransom for all to be testified in due season. There's God. There's man.
[13:10] There's only one person that can get them together. That's Jesus. He's the one that died. I often stood in Peru and they would say to me, but you're not going to deny Mary.
[13:20] You're not going to deny the saints. And I said, I won't deny that they're good people. I won't deny that God saved them. But I will tell you this. Only one of them died on a cross. Only one of them gave their life on a cross.
[13:31] And that was Jesus. No other can save. No other. I need you to understand that. Because maybe you're not as interested in missions. Because you think we got a Christian religion.
[13:44] We got the United States is Christian. And other countries are Hindu. And other countries are Buddhist. I just want you to know, every Buddhist will go to hell when they die.
[13:54] I need you to know that every Hindu will go to hell when they die. And every Muslim will go to hell when they die. And most Christian religions will go to hell when they die. Because they think it's their works that save them.
[14:07] But you only go to heaven through Jesus Christ. He said in John chapter 10 and verse 7. Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I said unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
[14:19] All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers. The sheep did not hear them. There's only one door into heaven. And that's God.
[14:30] Now I need you to look here and listen. Some of you listen on the internet maybe. But I need you to understand, you don't go to heaven because you got baptized. There's no baptizing door to get to heaven.
[14:41] There's no church membership door to get to heaven. There's no tithing and giving missions door to get to heaven. There's no way to heaven but the shed blood of Jesus Christ. He died so we could be saved.
[14:52] That's the only way to go to heaven. He only is our salvation. And for those of you that say, why in the world do we push world evangelism so much? Because he's the only way to be saved.
[15:05] Because today multiplied tens of thousands of people will die in India and China. And they will have never heard the gospel. And they won't go to purgatory.
[15:16] And they won't go to another place. They'll go to an eternal hell and suffer forever. And they never heard the name of Jesus. He only. He only.
[15:28] He only. It says in verse 2, He only is my rock and my salvation and my defense.
[15:42] Verse 5, My soul wait thou only upon God. My expectation is from him. Verse 6, He only is my rock and my salvation.
[15:57] The most aggravating thing, the reason that true Christianity is the most hated religion on the planet is this. We give no tolerance to any other way to get to God.
[16:13] And Biles is like, you believe what you want, I believe what I want, and we'll get along. And we're like, well, if you believe what you want, you'll go to hell. It's called the exclusivity of Christ. He wants everybody saved.
[16:26] He wants everybody to hear the gospel message. And he is the only way they can be saved. That's enough preaching right there. I'm serious with a heart attack.
[16:38] You must accept this. It is Jesus and Jesus only. Amen. Amen. Before I leave that, you don't do 10%.
[16:52] You don't do 1%. You don't do 50%. Jesus does 100% or you don't go to heaven. And there never has been a time, and there never will be a time, that anybody gets to heaven without what Jesus did on the cross at Calvary.
[17:09] If you wonder what happened in the Old Testament, every time they killed a lamb, they were looking for the lamb that John the Baptist saw and said, behold, the lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world.
[17:20] Everybody saved through what Jesus did on the cross at Calvary. Go with me, if you would, back to Psalm 62. Now, David says, I can only trust God.
[17:32] I can only trust God. He's the only one. And David knows it in humility that he is weak and he needed God. And by the way, that's the only way you'll ever get saved is when you realize you're weak and you need God.
[17:47] But it says in Psalm 62 in verse three, how long will you imagine mischief against a man? How long will you guys try to hurt me? And you just seem to never get tired of coming after me.
[17:58] He says, I know God will take care of me. He's talking here, not about salvation of going to heaven, but about how Absalom and his crew are coming after him. And Psalm 62, three said, you shall be slain.
[18:11] All of you, y'all ain't going to win. Y'all ain't going to win. God is going to win. He's going to take care of me. And no matter how you, what you think you won't do it. Look at Psalm 62, four, they only consult to cast him down from his excellency.
[18:26] They delight in lies. These people, David said, I trust God and God alone. And he said, these people are liars and they like lies.
[18:37] They delight in lies. You can't trust a word they say because it's Psalm 62, four, they may bless you with their mouth while they curse you inwardly.
[18:49] They may say nice things, but they don't mean it. Thank God. He's not like that. Thank God. It's all God's loving us and caring. Now, before I leave this first part of Psalm 62, I need to ask you, I really want to talk to you vision people sitting right here in the room with me.
[19:07] Anybody listen? I really want you to examine yourself. Who are you trusting for your salvation? Are you trusting in your baptism? Are you trusting in your church membership or your good training?
[19:20] Are you trusting only Jesus? Most people would say, I trust Jesus. They just don't like only Jesus. They trust Jesus.
[19:33] They just don't like only Jesus. There are two. There are only two salvations taught in the whole world.
[19:44] Every religion falls under one of two religions. You can break down every religion to the one of two religions. Grace or works. One is you don't deserve it and God saves you.
[19:57] The other one is, let me give you a plan. You have things you can do. It has to be one or the other. The two don't mix. They're like oil and water.
[20:09] You can't mix them. So you can't come along and say, well, I need to trust God and I need to. I need to trust God and I need to. You need to realize that doesn't work that way.
[20:20] In Romans 11, six, the word of God says, Romans 11, six. And if by grace, then it is no more of works. Romans 11, six.
[20:32] Otherwise, grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, it's no more grace. Otherwise, work is no more work. That's a complicated way of putting that. This is what he's saying.
[20:44] If it's grace, it ain't works. If it's works, it ain't grace. If you try to mix them, it don't work. How many of you try to mix them? Salvation is by faith, plus nothing, and minus nothing.
[20:59] In Titus 3, 5, the word of God says, not by works of righteousness, which we have done. Nobody goes to heaven by works of righteousness, which he has done.
[21:10] Rather, he goes by his mercy. He saved us. Give up on yourself. Give up on yourself. Give up on what you've done.
[21:23] Give up on what you can do, and come humbly to trust God and God alone. Let me just say this to you. your eternal security is based on him, or you can't have any, because you mess up too much.
[21:41] You could be doing right for a long time and then mess up, but he always does right, and he never messes up. When he gives his word, he keeps his word. Go with me, if you would, to Psalm 62, 5.
[21:53] David reminds himself of the great truths he just stated. It's almost like David's about to repeat himself. It's a song, though. Don't forget that. So he sang the first song, and he said, trust him, trust him, and trust only him.
[22:06] And then in verse 5, he said, I want you all to think about that a little bit more. So look what he said in verse 5. My soul, wait thou only upon God. Now he just said that, and now he's like mumbling to himself.
[22:21] He's like talking to himself. He's like reminding himself, you can only trust one, and that's God. I don't just say it out loud. I think it on the inside. It's a word only.
[22:33] Wait is to be still and know that he is God. Put all your faith and expectation in God alone. Verse 6, He, God, only is my rock.
[22:46] He's the only one that's my strength. He's the only one that can save me. He's the only one that can defend me. I shall not be moved. I love that.
[22:57] First time he said, I shall not be greatly moved. This time he said, I'll just change that. I won't be moved, period, because I'll just trust God. I don't know if the meditating and the singing of the second verse helped him, but somehow he said, I will not be moved.
[23:13] David says he trusts God. He knows that victory comes from God. He knows that everything is in God. Look at verse 7. In God, in God is my salvation and my glory, the rock of my strength.
[23:27] My refuge is in God. God, could you circle two words? In God, in God, in the same verse? In the New Testament, it's in Christ, in Christ, in Christ, in Jesus.
[23:41] David said, you want the truth. It's all about God, who you trust in. David tells the people they need to trust God no matter the circumstance. Look at verse 8.
[23:53] Trust in him at all times. What are you going through right now? What's happening in your life? Maybe you're worried about finances. Maybe there's some health issues.
[24:05] Maybe you're concerned because money's messed up or maybe you're concerned because of the politics or maybe you're concerned because of the social unrest. Here's David's answer from the Holy Spirit of God.
[24:18] Trust in him at all times. It doesn't matter if when your baby's born, trust him. When your baby gets sick, trust him. When your family member dies, trust him.
[24:30] When your finances are in a mess, trust him. Trust in him at all times. I got to love this part. He says, I know you. Deal with junk.
[24:43] Well, come pour it out on me. Look at that. Look at it. Casting all your care on him before he cares for you. Can I get an amen right there? Huh? He said, casting all your care on him before he cares for you.
[24:53] First Peter 5, 7, I believe. But look at the verse here. Pour out your heart before him because God's a refuge for us. Go tell him, boy, I'm hurting.
[25:05] Go tell him, I'm hurting. Boy, I need you, God, at all times. Who are you trusting? Do you keep reminding yourself that we're trusting God?
[25:16] It's interesting. In this psalm, basically, he's going to remind himself three times. He's going to say it and he's going to say it and he's going to say it. He's going to say it like he's preaching and he's going to say it to himself and he's going to say it to others.
[25:29] He's going to say it to himself, say it to himself and say it to others. He's your rock. Do you pour out your heart before God? I know you're anxious. I know things bother you. I know you're hurting and I know you're scared.
[25:43] He's there for you. He's your rock. He's your refuge. He's your strength. Pour out your heart before him. Do you see him as your only foundation?
[25:56] In chapter 62 or Psalm 62 verse 9, David's chair, it's like he's going to go preach it now. I don't know if he's sitting around the campfire with his men as he's out in the boondocks or if this could be in the Sunday school class later on.
[26:12] Not really. It would have been a Saturday school class but you get the point. He said, you can't trust men. He said, men of low degree, men they're worthless and men of high degree, they're liars.
[26:26] Men just don't do good. To be laid in the balance are altogether lighter than vanity. Vanity. You know where we use vanity in America? It's a vanity mirror when a woman looks at it and says, yeah, you're looking pretty good today.
[26:41] But vanity just means emptiness. And he says, you're lighter than empty. You're lighter than empty. Men are powerless.
[26:53] We run to men in times of trouble but that's a mistake and a waste of time. We need God. Every tool man uses will not save him.
[27:07] In Psalm 62 10, bullying people fail. Trust not in oppression, not in people that take advantage, not in people that push others around.
[27:21] Don't tell us some things you can take away from other people. Verse 10, and become not vain in robbery. And in verse 10, here's a great one for all of us.
[27:33] Verse 10, if riches increase, set not your heart upon them. If riches increase, set not your heart on them.
[27:44] Don't let your heart get set on material things. Now that's easy to say. It's hard to live. That's easy preaching. It's hard practicing. Money has a way stealing our hearts.
[28:04] Money has a way of taking over our lives. That's one good reason to tithe. Because when you tithe, you say, I'm taking from what I love and I'm giving it to God.
[28:17] I'm giving faith promise that's a good way to take from what I love and give to God. The more selfish you are, the more you don't give.
[28:29] Life is more than the things that you have. In Luke chapter 12 and verse 15, Jesus said to them, take heed and beware of covetousness.
[28:40] Beware of desiring what's not yours. Why are we so hungry? For a man's life consists not in the abundance of the things that he possesses. Do you know what TV commercials are about coveting?
[28:55] Do you know what, you know why, hey, when you're in a grocery store, it's all about coveting. I used to work in a grocery store. They had headquarters send down studies, put this on the end.
[29:08] And they were called the, I don't even remember what they were called, the end cases. We put those there because, buddy, you got to get their attention. You got to make them want that. And he put things in order back in the day.
[29:20] I worked there. They had bread at the first place you stopped because everybody wants bread. And then the time they got to the last of it, they'd order to crush their bread with all the other junk they put in on it. And he'd sell some more bread, say, man.
[29:33] Because it's about covetousness. But man's life doesn't consist of the abundance of things which he possesses. Money, corrupting.
[29:46] Money, confusing. Money, covetousness. The Bible tells the story of two rich men. It tells more than that, but two I picked. One rich man went away sorrowful because he loved his money.
[30:00] He came to Jesus and he said, what do I need to do to inherit eternal life? And he said, well, you need to keep the commandments. He was a good Baptist. He said, I've done that all my life. I've always been a good guy. Well, that wasn't true.
[30:12] So Jesus said, well, sell everything you got and give it to the poor. He said, whoa, don't touch my pocket. Don't touch my pocket book. And he went away sad. Another rich man thought he had life made.
[30:25] He said, I'm going to tear down my barns and build bigger barns. And he died that night. Money's not that good. Money's not that valuable.
[30:37] Make you really mad at me right here. But sometimes preaching overseas is a whole different ballgame because they don't have any money. They're not as tied up. But when I preach, they just like love what the word of God says.
[30:49] You preach in America and everybody's got it. They're filtering it through. They're filtering it through dollars and cents and stuff. Amen. I've preached in dirt floors and grass mat roofs and I've preached in Africa and I've preached in South America.
[31:07] The desire for money and material goods and position and power calls people to leave the faith. You may not know this but the money you like so much may take you away from Jesus.
[31:20] You say, you have no right to say that. I agree, I don't. But he does. Look at 1 Timothy chapter 6 and verse 6. Godliness with contentment is great gain.
[31:34] You didn't bring anything into the world and it's certain we carry nothing out of the world. Verse 8. Having food and raiment let us therewith be content.
[31:46] Be therewith content. Verse 9. Listen, listen. They that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and hurtful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
[32:02] I need you to underline will be. In South America and the church I preached in they always said, yeah, the rich fall into temptation. I know what it says. It says they that will be rich and poor people will be rich in their mind and rich people will be richer people because all we got on our minds is I got to give me some more money.
[32:22] I need some more money. He said, the more you want more money the more you're likely to fall into a temptation and a snare and a foolish and hurtful lust which will drown you in perdition which is being lost.
[32:35] You can't lose your salvation. You can get off the track and not serve God. How many Christians the more money they got. How about this? Because you're saying that still didn't say they're going to walk away from the faith.
[32:48] Read verse 10 with me. The love of money is the root of all evil which while some coveted after they erred from the faith. Underline that.
[32:59] they erred from the faith and they pierced themselves through with many sorrows. He said, boy, if riches increase don't set your heart on them.
[33:13] Money should be seen as a sacred trust not a goal to be achieved. God wants us to seek him not things. There's not enough money in the world to save your soul.
[33:27] Bible says in Psalm 49 7 none of them can by any means redeem his brother nor give to God a ransom for him for the redemption of their soul is precious and it ceases forever.
[33:49] It doesn't matter how much money you have COVID can kill you. It doesn't matter how much money you have your child can die. Money won't bite.
[34:01] We trust only God. We don't trust money. We don't trust money. If money would do it the billionaires would never die.
[34:14] And let me give you a hint. I ain't never gonna die and I'm not a billionaire. But I ain't never gonna die because he that liveth and trusteth him shall never die. That's what the word of God says. Don't set your hopes in money or material goods.
[34:30] Go with me to Psalm 62 11. God has spoken once twice have I heard this. That's a poetical way of saying he said this a bunch.
[34:42] Power belongs to God. Not people not money. Power belongs to God. He's the one that can save you.
[34:54] He's the one that can rescue you. He's the one that can change your life. Power belongs unto God. Verse 12 not only does power belong to him but mercy belongs to him.
[35:07] I love this. Also unto thee O Lord belongs mercy colon God you have the power but you are so sweet.
[35:19] You have mercy. Grace is when God gives you what you don't deserve. You don't deserve eternal life but you trust him and he gives you a gift you can't earn. Mercy is you ought to go to hell but he doesn't make you go to hell.
[35:32] Praise God. He's the all mercy belongs to him. You can be saved by grace and mercy or you can be judged by your works. You render to every man according to his work.
[35:45] God will be fair but I don't want him to be fair with me. Just to be blunt and honest I do not want to be judged by my works. Thank God when I was a kid everybody said when you die you're going to go to the judgment and they're going to put up this big screen TV and they're going to play all your sins before the whole world and I used to think when I was 15 I thought Lord help me Jesus I don't want that happening.
[36:10] I was only 15. I was like I'll crawl under the table I'll dig a hole and crawl in it but you know that's not what's going to happen because you know what's going to happen for us when they play my past they're going to play his past because he took my sin off of me and put it on him and he took his righteousness off of him and he put it on me.
[36:30] You can be judged according to your works or you can be judged according to what Jesus did for you. By the way if Satan were to stand forward and accuse and say Austin Gardner doesn't belong in heaven Austin Gardner has failed you many ways I have a lawyer in heaven 1 John chapter 2 and my lawyer will step up and say he's alright I done paid the debt I got it all worked out father judge but it'll actually be Jesus on the judging seat and can you imagine you accuse my judge who's my savior he's going to be like I'll just shut up leave him alone I saved him your works are never enough they always fall short no human being is good enough to go to heaven we trust only Jesus now do you trust Jesus and Jesus alone I want to tell you you can't add Jesus to a bunch of other gods you can't add Jesus to good works you've done you can't add Jesus to your church attendance you can't ask for your tithing records to show it in heaven
[37:38] God's like I don't care about none of that I care about one thing do you know Jesus maybe an even better question is does he know you if you never trusted Christ you should trust him today as your savior if you have trusted Christ and you're a Christian and you're worried or scared or concerned God only God only is our answer Father in heaven I love you and I thank you for who you are and what you're doing and I pray this morning that you would save some that came today to be in church with us I pray God they get to know you and be saved and go to heaven when they die I pray God that you'd save somebody today and God I pray for Christians that are confused and they're messed up because they're not trusting you they're trusting themselves they're trusting other things I pray God you'd show your power and then God I pray your church people who would realize you love everybody everywhere and you want everybody saved and I pray to God that you would help us to be the missionary sending church you want us to be and I'll give you power and honor and glory for all you do
