[0:00] Philippians chapter 1 and verse 12. I would, you should understand, brethren, that the things which happen unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel.
[0:11] The apostle Paul is being persecuted for serving God. And he's happy because all he cares about, underline in your Bible, the furtherance of the gospel.
[0:22] That's all he cares about. I just want the word to go out. I just want the truth to go out. In verse 12, he said that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace and all other places.
[0:34] Everybody's talking about it. Everybody knows I've been arrested. Everybody knows I'm in jail. And many of the brethren of the Lord waxing confident by my bonds are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
[0:47] And so his being in jail made some other people bold. That's the goal he has here. In verse 15, some indeed preach Christ of envy and strife and some of goodwill.
[0:59] The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely supposing to add affliction to my bonds, but the other of love. Because they know something about me that I am set for the defense of the gospel.
[1:14] I wish you'd underline, I am set. I am set for the defense of the gospel. What then? Not with sending everybody.
