[0:00] This message was recorded at Vision Baptist Church in Alfred, Georgia. It is our prayer that you will be blessed by the preaching of God's Word. Alright, take your Bibles if you would and open them to the book of Numbers, chapter 28.
[0:11] Numbers, chapter 28. If you write down anything in the margin of your Bible there, right above that chapter, I call this done, over with, finished. That's what's going to happen because all the sacrifices and all the offerings and all the worship that you're going to read about in these two chapters, Jesus took care of every bit of it for us.
[0:33] He is our sacrifice. It is done. It is over with. And it is finished. Look, if you would, in Numbers, chapter 28, in verse 2. I just want to pick out some words.
[0:44] I want you to circle in your Bible and underline in your Bible as you're reading through it so that this chapter will come more alive to you as you read it. Verse 2, the Bible says, Command the children of Israel and say unto them, My offering, my bread for my sacrifices.
[1:02] You ought to circle my, my, my. I'm always looking for repeated words when I study a chapter. In one verse, three times the word my is there.
[1:13] And I will show you just in a second. But I think often we consider it's our offering, our bread for his sacrifices. But he said, Nope, it's all mine, mine, mine.
[1:25] Then underline in verse 2, if you would, unto me. It says, My sacrifice is made by fire for a sweet savor unto me. Shall you observe to offer unto me in due season.
[1:39] In verse 3, it says unto the Lord. In verse 3, it says unto the Lord. In verse 3, it also says the word continual. And you will see some of that as we go through the, an overview of the chapter.
[1:52] Go with me if you would, to verse 18. Underline, no manner of servile work. Or servile work, however you say that. You're not supposed to be working.
[2:02] You're not supposed to be working. And that will be mentioned over and over. Go to chapter 29 in verse 2. It was a sweet savor unto the Lord.
[2:14] A sweet savor unto the Lord. A sweet savor unto the Lord. And so then you'll find the word continual all through that chapter. Let's have a word of prayer.
[2:25] And then let's work through this two chapters. Father, I pray that your word would come alive tonight. I know that it is alive and it is quick and powerful and sharper than any dredged sword.
[2:36] But I pray you'd help the book of Numbers to be real to us. And for us to realize how you talked to us about our worship of you. And what you did for us on the cross of Calvary.
[2:47] Thank you so very much. We give you honor and praise. In Jesus' precious name, amen. Somebody is killing a kid. Number one, it's not your offering, but his.
[3:00] You ought to write that down beside verse 2. Not my offering, but his. He interestingly mentions three times in the verse that it's his. My, my, my.
[3:11] And then he said, I want you to bring it to me at specified times in due season. So he said, this is my offering. This is my sacrifice. And I got certain times I want you to do things.
[3:24] So the big lesson is probably that everything we have is his. Everything we have is his. We should offer to him knowing that all we are and all we have comes from him.
[3:39] So when I give an offering, when I serve God, I'm doing it for him because of what he's done for me. You'll notice in this chapter 18 times it says, My, my, my, my.
[4:01] He says in there 11 times no servile work was to be done. Because God wanted his people focused on him. As you read through this, he's going to be talking about the sacrifices.
[4:13] And he's going to say, no work. Stop working. You ever notice how we come to church? We come walking in and maybe we even got our iPad or our telephone and we're checking messages and we're thinking about other things.
[4:25] And we're sitting down and making a few notes about what we're supposed to do. We're not always focused. But he said, no, you stop. Turn off the cell phone. Turn off the email. Turn off everything else you've got going on.
[4:37] It's my sacrifice. My worship. All about me. All unto me. Stop working. Focus. Turn everything else off and focus on me. I deserve all of your attention.
[4:50] I don't know if you have any idea how this works. But if you're married, you may have dealt with that before. Have you ever dealt with that? I have. You know, you're talking to your wife and you're kind of like, yeah, babe.
[5:01] Yeah, babe. Sure, babe. Yeah, babe. And you get this little message from her directly or indirectly. Turn it off and focus on me.
[5:13] You ever had that happen? No, I'm sure it has never happened. Number two. Write down the words continual offering. Continual offering. In verse 3, the Bible says, This is the offering made by fire which you shall offer unto the Lord.
[5:28] Two lambs of the first year without spot day by day for a continual burnt offering. Interesting. In these two chapters, 20 times the word continual is used.
[5:41] 20 times. They were to be offering a lamb each morning and a lamb each evening on Sabbath day. Two in the morning and two at night. It's like their dedication. Total dedication.
[5:51] I get up in the morning, first thing we think about, got to go make an offering to God. Last thing we think about before we go to bed, got to go make an offering to God. Wouldn't be a bad idea for me to ever consider when I wake up, this day belongs to the Lord.
[6:02] It wouldn't be a bad idea before I went to bed and say, God, thank you for this day. I pray I've served you and help me serve you tomorrow. We don't offer continual sacrifices today.
[6:13] But in Romans chapter 12 and verse 1, the Bible said, I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
[6:27] And to be blunt honest, if you read the New Testament, if you know anything about the Old Testament, man, we got it pretty easy. We have got it pretty easy. I mean, Jesus did all the work and all we do is enjoy the blessings.
[6:40] In the Old Testament, it was quite a different story. So how about starting and ending every day telling the Lord you love him and you're dedicated to him? In our house for 41 years, it's a custom to kiss before going to sleep and to kiss in the morning when we get up.
[6:55] You ought to think about doing that with the Lord. The third thing, you don't have to kiss him. I just said, say, good morning. I love you, Lord. I'm going to serve you today. I know you can't kiss him. One of you are going to go home and kiss your crucifix.
[7:05] Don't do that. That's a Catholic joke for you there. After daily offerings, they had monthly offerings in this passage of Scripture. In the story of what's going on here, every day they get up and every day they make an offering and every evening they make an offering.
[7:21] And then when they started the month off, they started the month off with special offerings again. It's like, okay, new month. Now, years ago when Betty and I were younger, when we were younger, it was a big deal to me.
[7:34] Two things were a big deal to me. Nobody turned the calendar until the next month. That was my job because I loved it. It was just a fetish I had. I loved going there and saying, well, that month's in the books.
[7:46] Praise God. I get a new start and I love getting a new calendar. I don't even do any of that anymore. It's all electronic. So it's no fun to change the page. But the point is, in the Bible here, he was saying, every morning my mercies are new to you.
[7:59] That's what he says to us. If you want to write that down, Lamentation 3.22. It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed because his compassions fail not.
[8:10] They are new every morning. Great is our faithfulness. But they had like a new month offering and they had a new day offering. Like we're getting new chances. Isn't that a wonderful thing?
[8:21] I may have messed up yesterday. May not have done everything I would have done yesterday. But I serve a God who is good to me every day. When you wake up in the morning, he doesn't say you got debt left over from yesterday.
[8:32] He's like, my mercies are brand new today. Amen. And by the way, when they started theirs off, they sacrificed. I don't have to sacrifice. The sacrifice has been done. There are some yearly offerings mentioned in this chapter.
[8:46] And I'm just going to run through them quickly. The first yearly offering that's mentioned is the Passover. Passover. That's a big word that you ought to have in your head and ought to know about and remember. That's when they left the country of Egypt.
[8:58] That's when the exodus took place and they left. You remember what's going to happen. The death angel is going to pass over their house. So they're all going in their house. There have been nine plagues that have taken place.
[9:09] And they're in their house and they're getting ready to leave. It's going to happen the next day. And so they've taken a lamb. They've been preparing that lamb. The lamb's been living with them. Now the lamb dies and the lamb's blood's put on the doorpost and on the lentil.
[9:22] And they're in their house. And all of a sudden, a death angel begins to come across. You can hear them as they move across the city wailing and people dying. But when he got to their houses, he passed over them.
[9:33] And their son didn't die. Their firstborn animals nor their firstborn children died. It was the blood of the lamb that saved them. And by the way, you can know this.
[9:44] Every sacrifice that's talked about in the Old Testament that's to the God of heaven is represented in Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians chapter 5 and verse 7 says, Purge out therefore the old leaven that you might be a new lump.
[9:58] That you may be a new lump as you are unleavened. For even Christ, our Passover, is sacrificed for us. And so when the death angel is coming, when judgment's coming, it is the lamb.
[10:11] It is Jesus that's there for us. The next one that's mentioned is Pentecost. And Pentecost is a big day, 50 days after the Passover. It's the day that we celebrate the coming and power and baptism of the Holy Spirit as he came in power.
[10:27] In Acts chapter 1 and verse 8, he said, And after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you, you shall be witnesses unto me. And so 50 days later, the power of the Holy Spirit came. The next one is trumpets.
[10:39] The next one is trumpets that are mentioned. And that was to take place the first day of the seventh month. The Israelites used trumpets to call the people together, to sound an alarm, to announce that there would be a battle.
[10:50] There is a trumpet we're waiting on right now. We have seen the Passover. We have seen the coming of the Holy Spirit. And there is a trumpet we're waiting on. The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 and verse 16, For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, with a trump of God.
[11:08] And the dead in Christ shall rise first. We are fully expecting the trumpet to sound and to announce that our king has come back for us to take us to heaven.
[11:20] The next one is mentioned as a day of atonement. The most holy and important day of their year. And that's the day that's represented when Jesus died and took the blood to the Holy of Holies.
[11:33] It's a picture of him dying for us. And the other one is the tabernacles. Five days after the day of atonement, it lasted a week. And over 200 sacrifices would be made.
[11:46] Now I would like to take the lessons of the chapter and go over some things I think could be applied to you. So you could go home. Now I think you ought to read this chapter. These are two difficult chapters.
[11:56] You're going to read about all these sacrifices and all these things. And you might easily be reading in numbers and go, I don't know why he wants us reading about it. I'll tell you why he wants us reading about it.
[12:06] Because every one of them are a picture of Jesus and what he did for us. So number one of the lessons you could learn today. Every sacrifice is fulfilled in Jesus Christ.
[12:18] Could I ask you to please open your Bible to Hebrews 10.1 and stay there with me a minute? Because the book of Hebrews is a commentary on what's happening here. And in the book of Hebrews, the writer of the Hebrews tells us some great things that you'll understand.
[12:33] Now these Hebrews, they would have understood all the stories. If you'd have told them about Passover, Pentecost, trumpets, tabernacles, any of that, they'd have been like, oh yeah, we know those stories.
[12:43] But maybe you don't know those stories, but the writer of Hebrews tells us exactly what's going on. It makes the Old Testament understandable for you. Chapter 10 and verse 1, the Bible says, So whatever you see in the Old Testament, that's just a shadow.
[13:00] It's not the real thing. It's just a shadow of good things to come. Look at what it says. And not the very image of the thing. Not the very image.
[13:11] Can never with those sacrifices that they offered year by year continually make the comers there unto perfect. So in the Old Testament, they had continual sacrifice. In the Old Testament, you're seeing a shadow of what's going to happen.
[13:24] And that shadow is that Jesus is coming. In verse 2, For then would they not have ceased to be offered. If those sacrifices had been good enough, if they'd have ever gotten the job done, they could have stopped.
[13:37] But every day they had to get up and say, okay, start over. Didn't do any good yesterday. It was never finished for them. And here's something you've got to underline in Hebrews chapter 10 in your Bible.
[13:49] Verse 2, For then they would not have ceased to be offered, because that the worshipers once purged should have no more conscience of sins. Won't you underline? No more conscience of sins.
[14:00] You know what? If the sacrifice had worked in the Old Testament, they could have walked out and said, well, thank the Lord, it's done. It's finished. God took care of it. We're in the clear. But that was never what happened.
[14:11] It was like, whew, up till today. Whew, up till today. Not finished. Verse 3. But in those sacrifices, there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
[14:25] Every year they got together again. And every year they remembered, we're sinners. And every year they remembered the sacrifices got to be made. Verse 4. Because it's not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sin.
[14:38] Just doesn't work. Animals can't do it. Animals can't do it. Verse 6. In burnt offerings and sacrifices of sin, God doesn't have pleasure.
[14:50] That's not what it was. It was never about the burnt offering. It was never about a cow dying. It was never about a sheep dying. It was never what was going on. Look at verse 9. Then said he, lo, I come to do thy will.
[15:03] He taketh away the first that he may establish the second. Jesus said, okay, let's just get rid of that Old Testament way of doing it. Let's get rid of those lambs. That's why we don't do that anymore. That's why we're not sacrificed anymore.
[15:15] Because Jesus came and said that didn't work. It was only a picture. A shadow of what was coming. And what was coming was me. And I'm fixing to establish something. I got it done.
[15:27] I got it done. That ought to excite you. It ought to excite you. He said, I got it done. Look at verse 10 if you would. By the which we are sanctified.
[15:37] We are made holy. We're made pure. We're drawn to God through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ. Underline this. Once and for all. Once for all.
[15:48] Underline that. Put a star. Draw some arrows to it. Now, by the way, if Austin's still got to be walking in and offering a sacrifice, gosh, y'all better pray I do a good job. Because you're in a heap of trouble if I don't.
[15:59] But Jesus said, you can forget Austin. I did it. I did it right. It's done. You say, I'm not sure I got eternal security. Can I explain real simple English? Once for all.
[16:12] Once. He said, I don't have to go back and do it again. Austin, he needs to redo everything he does. I need a delete button on my computer. Back in the old, old days when you used the typewriter, they had that special ribbon.
[16:25] You could blot out what you'd done. He never does need that. He said, when I do it, I just do it. Once and for all. Look at that. Verse 11. Every priest stands daily ministering. The priests in the Old Testament, every day they were serving.
[16:38] Every day they were ministering because they could never take away sins. He said, hey, y'all know, you read the Old Testament? Read about all them sacrifices? Read about hundreds of animals dying?
[16:50] Read about the ground turning red with the blood of the animals? They never could get it done. Verse 12. But this man. You've got to read that with me. Say those words.
[17:01] But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God. Here's what he said. He said, you know, those guys, they didn't even have a chair.
[17:12] I got one. They never got finished. I did. And he said, one sacrifice for sin forever. And he sat down on the right hand of God. If that's not eternal security, I don't know what it is.
[17:26] One sin. One sacrifice for sin forever. What about tomorrow's sin? I said forever. Sat down on the right hand of God. Verse 14. For by one offering he hath perfected forever them that are sanctified.
[17:40] Okay. Read the verse. I'm just reading the Bible. Don't accuse me of trying to push a doctor on you. I'm just reading it. I'm not reading it like you do. Here's why you all read the Bible when it's your turn.
[17:51] For by one offering he hath perfected for everything that are sanctified. I don't understand what I'm reading. No wonder. You read it like a dead man. A computer reads better than you do. Get a little emphasis there. Look at this.
[18:01] For by one offering. One offering. Who was that offering? Talk to me. Who was it? Jesus. He hath perfected. He has made complete. He's fixed it.
[18:12] He's done it. It's over. For how long? Forever. Them that are sanctified. Those that he made holy. Verse 16. This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days.
[18:24] Says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts and their minds while I write them. He said I'll fix you guys. I'll make a new creature out of you. I'll take out that old nasty dirty stony heart you've always had in your life.
[18:36] And I'll put a new one in you. It's a prophecy about what he's going to do to Israel. But it's already happening to us. Because we no longer serve by tablets of stone that condemn us. But by writing in our fleshly hearts.
[18:46] Book of Corinthians. Verse 17. And their sins and iniquities. Can I hear that? Would you read that with me? And their sins and iniquity will I remember no more.
[18:59] The blood of animals could never take away sin. But the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. By the way that's not just a Hebrews chapter 10 thing.
[19:10] So you know. In Ephesians chapter 1 and verse 7 he said. In whom we have redemption through his blood. The forgiveness of sins. According to the riches of his grace.
[19:21] So when Paul wrote the Ephesians. He said guys you've been redeemed. But it was through the blood. Your sins have been forgiven. Because of his blood. And the richness of his grace. In 1 John and 1 verse 7 he said.
[19:31] We walk in the light as he's in the light. We have fellowship for one another. And the blood of Jesus Christ his son. Cleanses us from all sins. In Revelation chapter 1 and verse 5. He said he washed us from our sins.
[19:44] In his own blood. He cleaned us up. Can you imagine what it was like at a Jewish celebration. On the day of atonement.
[19:55] On all of those things. When all that was done. And they were like God liked the sacrifice. They could have a good time that afternoon. We could have a good time the rest of our lives.
[20:06] It's been done. It's been done. They had to continually practice this. Regular intervals. I think it was 20 or 21 times.
[20:16] The word continually used. Look at Hebrews 9 24. For Christ is not entered into the holy place. Made with hands. Which are the figures of the true. But he went into heaven itself.
[20:28] Now to appear in the presence of God. For us. He said now let's get something straight. I told you that Old Testament stuff was a shadow. I told you it wasn't the real stuff. But the real stuff is Jesus.
[20:39] Can you say amen right there? And he said by the way. Jesus didn't go in the temple. And Jesus didn't go in the tabernacle. Jesus went to heaven. That's where he went. He went into heaven. And he appears in the presence of God.
[20:51] You should circle this. For us. I'll prove that to you in a minute. That's what he's doing in heaven right now. Jesus is like. I'm here representing Austin. That's a pretty good lawyer. Amen.
[21:03] Verse 25. Nor yet that he should offer himself often as the high priest into the holy place every year with the blood of others. The high priest always came in with somebody else's blood. Not our Lord.
[21:14] Verse 26. Then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world. But now once. Once. Verse 26. Once. In the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
[21:30] Verse 28. Christ was once offered. And he's coming back. Verse 28. Without sin. Unto salvation. Chapter 10 and verse 11.
[21:40] When every priest stands daily ministering. But their stuff can never take away sin. But in verse 12. He offered one sacrifice for sin forever.
[21:52] And he sat down. Worship was an integral part of their life. First off. Can I. Listen to me. If you get nothing. You're reading the book of Numbers.
[22:02] You're reading about all these sacrifices. You've got to be thinking. Man we're killing a lot of lambs here. Man if PETA had been around back in those days. But every time they were sacrificed. It was pointing to a much more horrible sacrifice.
[22:15] The sacrifice of the lamb. The son of God. Dying on a cross. For us. To pay our sin debt. He is our Passover. It's him. The second thing I want you to notice. Out of the two chapters.
[22:26] Worship was an integral part of their lives. It took a lot of time. But God is worth the time. They were expected to focus on him.
[22:36] And what he had done. So they weren't to work. And they were doing it for him. So can I just stop and say this real quick. You know church ain't never been about you. Church is not about you.
[22:47] We're going to put on a show. So you'll enjoy it. We're going to have dancing girls up here. We're going to sing and do trapeze artists. Well worship's never been about you. Worship's been about. I want y'all to hear how good I am. Go tell them preacher.
[22:59] You go tell them how good I am. When they leave. I want them to be thinking. Boy he's good. He's a good God. That's what God wants. Because he's the God. Who did everything. By the way the priests were an essential part of the nation.
[23:13] Hundreds of animals are dying. In those two chapters it's all about the public offering. Not count what everybody did on their own. They represent the people before God. They offered the required sacrifices.
[23:25] But we still need a priest. And we have a priest. And our high priest. Is Jesus. Hebrews chapter 4 and verse 14 says.
[23:36] Seeing then that we have a great high priest. That is passed into the heavens. And here's his name. Jesus. The son of God. So hang on. Till you trust in him.
[23:47] That's who your priest is. You're not worried about whether or not. The high priest can get in and make the offering and get out. We know this. I know Jesus went in. So I'm hanging on to Jesus. Verse 16 or 15.
[23:58] We have not a high priest. Which can't be touched with the feelings of our infirmity. Jesus knows where I live. He knows what I'm going through. He knows how I'm hurting. So come boldly to the throne of grace. Verse 16. That we may obtain mercy.
[24:10] And he knows you. And he loves you. And he cares. Chapter 7. Hebrews 7. 25. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost. That comes unto God by him.
[24:21] Seeing he ever lives. To make intercession for them. Now hang on. I'll tell you something. I hear people all the time say. Well what about my sins I'm going to do tomorrow. Let me explain to you. Go to Pluto. And then go about 10 gazillion billion miles past there.
[24:35] And God said that ain't far enough. That ain't the uttermost. I said I save. To the uttermost. Now the priest can forgive you for the weak. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe you can get through to the next year when the offer is to be made.
[24:48] But my name is Jesus. I am God. I'm the son of God. And I save to the uttermost. We're not here to talk about how good you are. What you don't. We're talking about how good he is.
[24:58] Come boldly to him. By the way. In heaven. He is our advocate. In 1 John chapter 2 and verse 1. That means he's our lawyer. My little children. These things write unto you that you sin not.
[25:10] If any man sin. We have an advocate with the Father. Jesus Christ. The righteous. The holy one. The sinless one. Read another verse in just a second.
[25:20] But I just want you to understand. Those priest men. They were very important. They needed that priest to go in there and offer that sacrifice. And you don't just do it the way you want to. Two guys got killed for offering strange fire. Remember? You got to do it the right way.
[25:32] I mean they were like. Hey. I'm glad you studied the Bible college. Bless God. Don't mess up. And Jesus. And then God says in the New Testament. By the way. We have a priest and y'all need him too. But don't worry.
[25:42] He does it right. The name is Jesus the righteous. And he doesn't mess up. And look at. He is a propitiation. The payment for our sins. And not for ours only. But for the sins of the whole world.
[25:54] 1 Timothy chapter 2 and verse 5. He is our mediator. One mediator between God and men. Who gave himself a ransom for all. He's our mediator. He's the one that goes between us and God.
[26:07] In Hebrews chapter 8 and verse 6. He is the mediator of a better covenant. In Hebrews chapter 12 and verse 24. Jesus the mediator of the new covenant. Next thing.
[26:18] The sacrifices were very expensive. Not counting what the people brought in personal worship. And what each family did. On just this. What's mentioned here.
[26:29] 113 bulls. 32 rams. And 1,086 lambs. I have no idea what 113 bulls cost today. Put them at $1,000 a piece.
[26:41] That's a lot of money. $113,000 right there. 32 rams. 1,086. But these people were massive givers. They gave that way under the law.
[26:55] What in the world ought I to do under grace? They were given out of fear. I'm giving out of love. He's worthy of all that I give him. And all that his causes cost me.
[27:07] He is worthy. He is worthy. Now we go to God in a totally different way. If we were living back in those days by the way. The majority of us in this room would have had no option.
[27:18] You girls would have never walked into the presence of God. None of us men would have. We're Gentiles. We could have gotten to the outer courts as far as we'd have gotten. And some of the Jews, they could get in a little bit further. But only one got to go in once a year.
[27:31] But he told us, come boldly to my throne. You just come on in. You just come on in. I am the priest. In Hebrews chapter 10 and verse 19. Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiness by the blood of Jesus.
[27:47] So he said, hey guys, just come on in. Act like it's your house. Walk on in. Sit down. You belong here. Come in by the blood of Jesus. Not by the blood of a lamb. Not by the blood of a priest.
[27:58] But by Jesus. Verse 20. By new and living way. Which he hath consecrated for us through the veil. His flesh. And having a high priest over the house of God.
[28:09] Let us draw near with true heart. In full assurance of faith. You're saying, I'm not sure he loves me. Oh, give a life. He died for you. Listen to the verses.
[28:20] And he said, by the way, when you come see me, just walk on in like you own the place. Full assurance of faith. That's what I want you to have. I want you to come in boldly by the blood. I want you to come in with a true heart and full assurance knowing what I've done.
[28:36] Verse 23. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering. Now listen. Check this verse out. You've got to underline this. You've got to mark it. For he is faithful.
[28:48] That promised. And you weren't mentioned. Here's what he said. He didn't say, I'll be faithful. If you'll be faithful, we'll be faithful together. I'll do my part. You do your part.
[28:58] We'll all get along. He said, he didn't say, I'll do 99%. All you have to do is pick up 1%. He just said this. Come on in boldly. Come on in with full assurance. Because I keep my word.
[29:10] Could you say amen right there? I'm going to go to heaven because he keeps his word. He keeps his word. By the way, today we bring our own sacrifices.
[29:22] We get to be priests ourselves. In 1 Peter 2 and verse 5, we're a holy priesthood and we offer up spiritual sacrifices. In 1 Peter 2 and verse 9, we're a royal priesthood and we show forth the praises of him.
[29:38] And you and I come to him and we bring our bodies. We walk in and we say, Lord, I present my body a living sacrifice. Do with me whatever you want to do with me. In Romans chapter 15 and verse 16, Paul said, I'm offering up the Gentiles.
[29:50] I've been leading a bunch of them to Christ. Hey, Lord, I'm bringing them to you. These are the guys I let. Everybody you're dealing with, you get to take that as an offering to Jesus. Romans 15 and 16. We get to give money and material goods.
[30:01] Philippians chapter 4 and verse 18. Hebrews 13 and 15. We get to offer a sacrifice of praise. By the way, when you're singing, don't sing for the song leader. Don't sing for the church people.
[30:13] Don't sing for the people to hear you. Hebrews 13 and 15. He said, By him, therefore, let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually. The fruit of our lips.
[30:23] Giving thanks to his name. God, I love you. Thanks for dying for me. Thanks for saving me. Thanks for loving me. Thank you. We offer up good works.
[30:34] Hebrews 13 and 16. Do good and to communicate. Give money and do good stuff. For with such sacrifices, God is well pleased.
[30:44] Let me give you the last thing and it's time to quit. Offer God something that costs you. Grace ought never be your excuse for a license to sin.
[30:55] It ought to be a liberty to serve. It ought to be that you're saying, man, I love God. I love God. And, you know, I want to show you I love you by giving what's valuable to me.
[31:08] I have been married for 41 years and I would tell you I want Betty to know I love her. She's worth whatever it costs, whatever I got to do. And that's what it says. In 2 Samuel 24, David is about ready to make an offering.
[31:22] And they said, Dave, we will give you what you need to make the offering. And David said, oh, no, nobody gives me what I give to God because I don't want to give God something that didn't cost me anything. I love God. I'm not offering your sacrifice.
[31:33] I'm going to offer mine. I'm going to offer mine. So let's serve him. So Numbers chapter 28 and chapter 29 are great chapters. You're going to hear about meat offerings and drink offerings and bullocks and rams and lambs.
[31:47] You're going to hear about all the things that are going on. But every one of them picture one person, the Lord Jesus. And tonight we worship. Did you hear me?
[31:58] Tonight we worship. And we say, can you believe it? A bunch of Georgia rednecks have bold access to Jesus, to God.
[32:09] I can go tonight on the way home and say, I don't have to say, hey, I need to call the pastor so he can pray for me. Jesus said, what are you going to do that for? He ain't got no more access than you do. You just come on. You come by the priest and I'm the priest.
[32:21] Just come on. I'll take you in. You get to the father's house and the father says, or Jesus meets at the door and says, come on in. I know him real good. I paid the way. I opened the door.
[32:32] You are God's servants. Worship him. So I named it, if you recall, done, over with, and finished. Because today I'm in good standing.
[32:44] Not because of what I did, but because of what he did. Father in heaven, I love you and I thank you for the chance to serve you. I thank you for your wonderful people. And I pray that you would help us to love you and serve you like we never have before.
[32:56] I pray you draw us close to you. Make us love you tonight. God, help your people's hearts to be filled with how good you are. To love you and praise you and magnify you. Thank you, Jesus.
[33:07] Thank you, Jesus, for dying on the cross for me. Thank you for offering blood for my sin. Thank you for paying my sin debt. Thank you for being my substitute. Thank you for offering me eternal life based on what you did.
[33:21] God, help us to love you. Help us to love you and be so grateful and thankful for what you have done and who you are. And we'll give you the praise and honor. This message was recorded at Vision Baptist Church in Alfred, Georgia.
