[0:00] this message was recorded at vision Baptist Church in Alfred Georgia it is our prayer that you'll be blessed by the preaching of God's Word take your Bibles if you would and open into Romans chapter 5 what a privilege it is he is our Messiah he is our Lord of all and what a wonderful Savior we serve Romans chapter 5 if you would and we will look at this passage of Scripture today it is the free gift if you'd write that down there the free gift I this is one of those confusing passages of Scripture a lot of time but I believe today it will not be I believe you will I believe you'll see some beautiful and wonderful truths today and you will understand them and apply them to your life the free gift of God the gift of salvation what one man did to plunge us into sin and what one man did to get us out of sin the Bible says in Romans chapter 5 and verse 12 wherefore is by one man sin entered into the world and death by sin so death passed upon all men for that all have sinned for until the law sin was in for until the law sin was in the world but sin is not imputed where there is no law and nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses even over them that had not sinned as bad as or after the similitude of or similar to Adam's transgression who is the figure of him that was to come but not as the offense so also is the free gift for if through the offense of one many be dead much more the grace of
[1:39] God and the gift of gift by grace which is well by one man Jesus Christ has abounded unto many and not as it was by one that sinned so as the gift for the judgment was by one to condemnation but the free gift is of many offenses under justification for if by one man's offense death reigned by one much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one Jesus Christ therefore as by the offense of one judgment came upon all all men to condemnation even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men under justification of life for as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous more of the law entered that the offense might abound but where sin abounded grace did much more abound that as sin hath reigned unto death even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord let's bow our heads forward a prayer if you would father in heaven I pray that you'd work now and I pray you'd open this passage and help us to understand it God I pray that you'd help us to understand that it was the work of one on the cross of Calvary that purchased salvation I pray to God that you would help us to realize today that we are saved by what Jesus did on the cross and not by what we have done that we gain merit and favor in your eyes not but what we have done but what Jesus did
[3:13] I pray God that you'd open us to understand this passage of scripture better and to honor you and serve you and thank you in Jesus name amen I want you to know in Romans chapter 5 if there's any lesson that's clear it's this and that is that your salvation is eternally secure if you have trusted the one if you have believed in the one who died on the cross of Calvary you can be sure of your salvation we're going to look at this passage I hope you'll keep your Bible open there you're going to look at it over and over you get to underline some things the key word probably that you would see if you read it and as I read it to you it makes it difficult is one one one one one it's like 20 something times the word one all all all is in the passage of scripture today we're going to learn a new term you might want to write it down somewhere it's just a it's just a kind of a Bible study term but it's the word federal head why don't you write that down somewhere federal head in other words what we're going to learn today is that Adam's the head of the human race he is the father of the human race and when Adam sinned everything that happened to Adam happened to all of us everything that happened to Adam happened to all of us we all sinned we were all plunged into sin we are all going to die and go to hell we have inherited a sin nature we are by nature sinners there's another head and his name is Jesus and those who have trusted him and been born again receive all that he did if when you're in Christ you have all the blessings of being in Christ he's a federal head he's in charge he's the leader of the the family the leader of the human race Adam is the head of the human race plunged us all into sin Adam is the head of the human race plunged us all into sin Jesus is the head of a new race raises us all to salvation and justification there's a comparison in the Bible between the first Adam and the last Adam the first Adam and Adam who sinned and the last Adam Jesus who lives and gives life look if you would in Romans chapter 5 and verse 14 Romans 5 14 the Bible says nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression who is the figure of him that was to come would you underline there Adam was a figure of him that was to come Adam and Jesus there's some similarities there's some things that are very drastically different Adam sinned Jesus didn't Adam brought death Jesus brought life there are opposites in lots of ways but both of them both of them uh there's a set there of Jesus or Adam's a figure of Jesus that was to come the first Adam brought sin and death the second Adam brings grace and life sin does not and will not get the victory on the earth among men because God's grace is greater than sin you need to know that God wins God wins all men are going to die the Bible says in Hebrews chapter 9 and verse 27 all men sin all men die as it is appointed unto men once to die and after this the judgment so everybody's going to die everybody's going to die that started with old Adam bringing it in the law entered not to show man how to live but to make sin abound I really wish you'd look at this look at your Bible at Romans chapter 5 and verse 20 do you know why God gave the 10 commandments he didn't give the 10 commandments to show you how to live he gave the 10 commandments to show you you couldn't live he didn't give the 10 commandments to make you more moral he gave you the 10 commandments to show you that you were immoral look at Romans chapter 5 and verse 20 moreover the law entered that the what help me read out loud there the law entered that the offense might abound law entered that offense
[7:16] or sin or transgression or wrong or breaking the law might abound the law entered that the offense might abound but where sin abounded grace did much more abound you we needed the backdrop of sin to see our need to be saved to realize how we needed to be saved look if you would at Romans chapter 5 and verse 16 as sin abounds grace will abound even more many offenses actually led to justification what's a weird verse look at verse 16 with me and that not as it was by one that sin so is the gift for the judgment was by one to condemnation but the free gift is of many offenses under justification God said you guys messed up so bad watch this you guys messed up so bad you can't fix it watch this I will send Jesus and Jesus will fix it so write down a few things if you would stay in Romans chapter 5 with me look at all the verses check me out question me about it if you'd like let's start with number one write this down one man's disobedience what you see in Romans chapter 5 verses 12 to 21 is one man's disobedience he's the first Adam and he is disobedient look at Romans chapter 5 verse 12 wherefore is by one man sin entered into the world and death by sin so death passed upon all men for that all have sinned right notice this underline it write it down it was Adam who sinned and by him he brought sin into the world Adam brought sin into the world sin brought death into the world Romans chapter 5 verse 12
[8:55] Adam brought sin brought sin brought death into the world and death came on all men do you want to know why men die today because sin brought death look at Romans chapter 5 and verse 13 death came on all men death came on all men by one man's sin death happened to everybody not that everybody sinned like Adam one man sin and everybody dies look at Romans chapter 5 verse 13 for until the law sin was in the world but sin was not imputed or is not imputed where there's no law God doesn't count sin against you where there's no law God doesn't hold the sin against you but still it doesn't matter nevertheless death reigned death reigned death kept happening to everybody even though they didn't do all that Adam did even though they didn't have the rules death reigned from Adam to Moses even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression and here's an important thing that's a figure of him that was to come now watch look at this would you look are you look this way Adam sinned and everybody keeps on dying they don't even have laws to break they're not disobeying the rules like Adam did but sin came into the world by one guy and everybody's dying the rules won't be given to Exodus chapter 20 that's when the law be given but they're still dying one man brought sin sin brought death you need to know that you need to pay attention to that one man sinned sin brought death men died even though they didn't sin like Adam had sinned men died due to what Adam had done there wasn't even law to show what they had sinned judgment came upon all men and condemned all because of one guy's sin look at
[10:36] Romans 5 18 got your Bible open what judgment came on all men and condemnation came on all men because of that one guy therefore is by the offense of one Adam judgment came upon how many all men to condemnation even so by the righteousness of one we get that guy later the judge the the offense or the sin or the transgression of one brought judgment on all men to condemnation the goal of this passage is that you will see the contrast God's trying to show you listen Adam plunged the whole human race into death Adam plunged all of us into death Adam fixed the fate of all of us and he's trying to show you that so he can make a contrast and show you how one will make the difference going the other way it was the one who brought sin and death not you it was one who brings life and grace not you Jesus look at this verse Romans 5 19 get your Bible open men were made sinners by that one act of Adam men were made sinners by that one act of Adam look at Romans 5 19 for as by one man's disobedience many were made what made sinners look at the verse one man's disobedience whose disobedience Adam's disobedience made many sinners we get to the other part of that verse in a second the obedience of one shall many be made righteous Adam's sin made us all sinners it was his disobedience that plunged the whole human race into death and sin now you might say to yourself I don't get it how could one guy mess up the whole world how could one guy destroy everything well in the garden God said to him in the day that you eat of it that day you'll surely die and from there on everybody starts dying and Adam died spiritually and Adam would die physically and everybody else dies and Adam messed up by the way that's nothing unusual there was a guy in the old testament whose name was Achan and Achan sinned by stealing some things and when he sinned death sentence was placed on Adam on Achan and on his wife and his children and all of his animals when the head dies when the head dies or sins and gets the punishment by the way it works in that way today if you're in a home of a if you were raised in a home or know if somebody's in a home of say an alcoholic a drunkard and the dad is an alcoholic and a drunkard everybody in that family suffers and it's a normal thing you let the head mess up and the whole body will be messed up and here's what happened and you got to get this because it's going to lead to your security of salvation you sin because your daddy sinned you sin because it's part of us you die because Adam messed up and whether you say well I'm a really good guy sorry you're fried anyway Adam messed it up for all of us now some of you said I don't like that hang on and you'll get the other part but the first thing you need to see is one man's transgression brought condemnation to everybody the second thing I want you to look at one man's obedience the second Adam look if you will with me at Romans chapter 5 and verse 15 before I read the verse listen to this one guy messed it all up now his children will die now his children will sin now death has passed on all men one guy messed it up what will be done to save a messed up world
[14:18] Romans chapter 5 verse 15 but not as the offense so also is the free gift for through the offense of one many be dead much more through the grace of God and the gift of grace which is by one man Jesus Christ has abounded unto many I look this way listen a second you're going to get a new truth your truth number one Adam sinned and we're all messed up Adam sinned and you're messed up you ever notice how you do what your dad did or how your children do what you do you ever notice how I mean hey my dad's a liar and I'm a liar and my dad's a lazy and I'm lazy my dad's a divorcee and I'm a divorcee my dad's a drunken I'm you ever notice that sin just kind of runs in families you ever notice that that's the whole thing since the beginning our father Adam the federal head the leader of the human race we've all been messed up now God says hold on stop the show let me show you I'm going to send a new Adam a new guy the last Adam the one that's going to fix all the mess up he plunged you into sin and he can give you eternal life read what it says to me read what it says to me Romans chapter 5 verse 15 again for not as the offense so also is the free gift for though the offense of one many be dead much more the grace of God the gift of by grace which is by one man one man brought death and one man will bring life one man brought death and one man will bring life and it's abounded to many you must get a hold of this it was the act of one that brought death and it's the act of one that brings life this should get your eyes off of you and thinking you did anything to get saved or that you can do anything to lose your salvation look this way just second look this way Cain and Abel they're going to be sinners they're going to die you know why because of their daddy the whole human race is going to die after Adam everybody keeps dying buddy they all just keep dying and so you sin because your dad was a sinner because Adam was a sinner because the whole human race was plunged into it nothing you could do about that but then one came one came and he will bring life and he will bring salvation and he will bring grace you didn't he did you didn't he did and if you'll realize that you didn't do anything I didn't I didn't wake up one day and just decide man I like to be a sinner I didn't wake up one day and decide I'd just like to shake my fist in the face of God now I did but I mean it's just kind of natural for you you ever had a small child in your home you ever had a baby in the crib they lie before they're a year old I mean they're messed up they are spoiled brats you ever been in there your kids screaming at the top of their lung you know they're hanging out of the crib by their neck and they're gonna die you know they're dead and you go running in like a crazy person scared to death about your child when you walk in the kid goes you're like you stinking little liar you you see you know why they're liars don't you because they're just like their daddy they're just like Adam watch what's going to happen it is the righteousness of one that the free gift came upon all look at Romans 5 18 therefore is by the offense one of one judgment came upon all men the condemnation I wish you'd help me here a minute I want you to get this it's a little tongue twister type thing a little bit difficult but so read this verse to me if you would by the offense of one let's change one to Adam who was the guy who sinned
[17:52] Adam who sinned and what happened when Adam sinned by the offense of Adam judgment came upon all men that includes me let's read the verse again for the offense of Adam judgment came upon all men to condemnation man that's a nasty word that means you're gonna die and you're gonna go to hell you're gonna burn it's over for you one man Adam judgment came God said that's it and I judgments on us condemnation it happened to all men even so by the righteousness of one let's change that one who's who was the righteous one okay we're gonna read the verse again that's Jesus the free gift by the way that's the name of my message the free gift if you want to write down what I called it the free gift look what it says even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all unto justification so let's read the verse again out loud would you read it with me all right read it with me therefore as by the offense of Adam judgment came upon all men to condemnation even so by the righteousness of Jesus the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life is the righteousness of one it was not nor is it your righteousness but he is read the verse read the verse look at it the righteousness of come on help me the righteousness of one Jesus the righteousness of how many one who Jesus not my righteousness let me just say to you that the free gift didn't come on you because of your righteousness do you see that verse the free the righteousness didn't come on you because of your good or the the free gift didn't come on you because of your righteousness it became on you because of the righteousness of help me the righteousness of
[19:41] Jesus that's how it came on all it was a free gift would you circle the word free it was a free gift it wasn't I got to get to church on time I got to tithe and give a special offering I've got to get baptized I've got to I've got to speak in tongues I got to not eat pork I got to read the bible through a hundred times I got to do this I got to do that it was a what kind of gift was it help me it was a free gift upon all it's his free gift that justifies us the obedience of one made many righteous the obedience of one made many righteous look at Romans 5 19 got your bible open there Romans chapter 5 and verse 19 if you would the bible says for as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous I'd like to read that verse and change one you know who the one refers to both times because you've been reading it you've got it down in your head let's go with it read read it with me for as by Adam's disobedience many were made sinners okay start over for by Adam's disobedience many were made sinners so by the obedience of
[20:54] Jesus shall many be made my obedience or his obedience my righteousness or his righteousness if it was mine I mess up how many of you how many of you have messed up how many of you are so tired and you've been trying your best to make God like you man you just work at it and you can't get enough you can't do it read with me if you would again it was one that made us sinners it was one that makes us righteous it was not my disobedience nor my obedience we were by nature's sinners by nature sinners actually many sins ends up leading to salvation Romans 5 16 boy this is hard doesn't make sense hardly Romans 5 16 and not as as it was by one that sinned Adam that sinned so is the gift for the judgment was by one Adam to condemnation but the free gift is of many offenses unto justification that is a ridiculous verse that's hard look what he said it's many sins that lead to justification you know why because you can't save yourself because you need to realize you messed up and those of us that have been born again in this room came to a place where we realized no matter how hard I try I just can't I try and I try and I try and I can't match up to God and then it's when Jesus steps it says good now that you know you messed up I can stay I can I can help you I'll save you the Pharisees were really busy at keeping all the rules and making rules to keep the rules they made rules about the rules so they make sure you keep all the rules and they would go to the temple and pray hey I'm sure glad I'm not like this worthless sinner over here and they would go down from the temple and not be blessed but the other guy would walk in and strike his chest and bow his head and say God be merciful to me a sinner you see it's sinners that get saved that's that's that goes against our grain it's sinners that get saved it's weak people that get strength it's sick people that get well Jesus said only the sick need a doctor all the wicked sin shows the beauty of his love and his grace one messed it up and sin abounded but his grace even abounds more it was one who brought grace and life to reign it was one who brought grace and life to reign not the church not Mary not me not you it was one read with me Romans 5 17
[23:26] Romans 5 17 I want you to read it out loud with me it's right here behind my head read it with me for you about one man all right read who's who goes there for if by Adam's offense what happened death reigned by now wait a minute who brought death Adam brought death who sinned Adam sinned much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one and he said I'll make sure you know who I'm talking about comma who Jesus Christ what a day I know I'm saved not by what I did but by what he did not by who I am but by who he is now that doesn't remove your responsibility you could be sitting there thinking well thank God everything's all right you know wasn't my sin Adam messed it up I'm a good guy no no no no read the verses read with me if you would Romans chapter 5 and verse 12 read with me Romans chapter 5 and verse 12 not only is it our nature to sin but we chose to sin not only is it our nature to sin but we chose to sin Romans 5 12 says wherefore is by one man Adam sin entered into the world and death by sin so death passed upon all men for that how many have sinned I'd like to sit here and say well it was
[24:47] Adam we messed everything up and I'm really a good guy but I'd have to say Adam really did mess everything up but I just went along right along with him doing the same thing he did I'm a sinner to choose to rebel against God there is grace but the grace is a gift to be received the grace is a gift to be received look at Romans 5 15 with me if you would Romans chapter 5 and verse 15 not as the offense so also is the free gift for if through the offense of one many be dead much more the grace the God and the gift by grace which is by one man Jesus Christ has abounded unto many would you underline gift free gift the Bible says in Romans 6 23 for the wages of sin is death but uh what the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord the gift is offered to all men the gift is offered to all men look if you would at Romans 5 18 therefore as by the offense of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation even so by the righteousness of the one that free gift came upon how many I talked to me how many come on all now you listen to this every man everywhere can be saved
[26:02] Adam brought death Adam brings life Adam brought death and do Adam brings life Adam brought death Jesus brings life Adam condemns everybody and Jesus offers grace to all his gift and grace to all you can be saved you can be saved it's still a gift and all you do is trust him and believe him he does all the saving read with me if you would Romans 5 19 Romans chapter 5 verse 19 for as by what help me for as by Adam's disobedience many were made sinners so by the obedience of Jesus shall many be made righteousness I'm going to talk to you just a second you know I'm going to bring another point to bear but I want you to get this straight do you realize you're a sinner do you realize you were a sinner do you realize you failed God do you realize it it is human nature and it does come from Adam it comes all the way down here but I decided to sin for all have sinned you chose to sin it is your nature to sin it's kind of like ingrained in you to be a sinner but Adam plunged us into death and Jesus would give us life Adam was a sinner and I sinned now you listen to this there's a gift offered to you and I'm saved today not by any merit that I have or not by anything I did but what God did through
[27:28] Jesus on the cross of Calvary it was the righteousness of Jesus that saves me so many times I wondered about my salvation I wondered am I saved and I would be afraid of losing my salvation I'd be afraid maybe I'm not really saved but here's what ends up happening you need to understand something the reason you doubt your salvation is because you focus too much on you and what you did and not on him and what he did who did the saving Jesus did now some of us have every right to doubt our salvation you should be doubting your salvation because the truth of the matter is when he saves you he changes you and when he saves you puts a new heart in you and when he saves you you want to serve him and can I just say real quickly that no Christian can just live any way they want if you are a born-again believer and you live in sin God will chastise you and discipline you God changes people but it's a gift it's a gift I'd like you to trust this morning him not me one man plunges you into sin and one man gives you life it wasn't that I was seven years old almost eight years old and I heard the gospel message and I accepted Christ and I and I prayed exactly the right words I don't remember what I prayed
[28:42] I really don't remember much about that day I remember that he preached on Calvary I remember that I went forward I remember that I cried that's about all I remember I know what day I got saved because my mama wrote it down for me and one day when I got older I happened to be looking in uh I happened to be looking in her bible and I saw where she'd written down when I got saved and so I know it was May the 6th 1962 and I know that I got baptized the next week I just know that because I remember I got baptized the next week but it wasn't what I did it was what Jesus did and all I did was receive a gift and that gift is yours only when you know you've sinned you understand that it's only yours when you know you've sinned when you realize I sinned against the holy God don't try to blame it on Adam Adam did sin and it is your nature to sin but you chose to sin and you are in trouble and you have great offense and you have sinned against the holy God and you have shaken your fist or shook your fist in the face of a holy God and then one day you wake up and say I'm a sinner and wicked and I want to accept the free gift of God that's offered by the grace of Jesus Christ by the grace of God and you trust him and when you do that you know this I went down in Adam and I came up in Jesus I got in Adam and Adam took me down to death and I got in Jesus and Jesus takes me all the way to heaven and gets me through when I get to heaven there will not be one word stated
[30:01] Austin come on in buddy you've been a preacher all these years you've been a pastor you've been a missionary you've led people to Christ you preach the Bible you read your Bible every day you've been a pretty good guy you're welcome into heaven that will not happen every person who steps through the gates of heaven will say I'm here by the blood of Jesus Christ I'm here by the grace of God I'm here by what God did not by what I did I'm here by what Jesus did on the cross of Calvary no bragging in heaven there will not be one boastful person you don't have to worry well when I get to heaven I'm going to be kind of embarrassed when Paul's walking around and that great man of God here's what Paul's going to be saying when he walks around I'm a chief of sinners thank God for grace thank God for mercy thank God for Jesus down on the cross that's how I got here hey Austin how about you I'm going to say man you want to talk about a scumbag I got here by the grace of God by the grace of God and one other thing I want to show you real quickly if I could God's grace is greater than our sin look if you would at Romans 5 20 the first thing I want you to write down is why God gave us the law we always look for what we can do we always look for human effort we always look for our morality our goodness our keeping the law our being good guys look at Romans 5 20 if you would moreover the law entered that the offense might abound he said I didn't give you the law so y'all know how to do right
[31:21] I gave you the law so the offense would abound I gave you the law so we'd know you know when my granddaddy uh when my grand when my granddaddy was born in like 1892 or something you know he was driving a car for years and then one day the government decided that everybody had to have a driver's license and I said really he said yep I said well how'd you get yours he said they mailed it to me he said they just found out everybody was driving he just mailed them a driver's license now we got y'all in under the clause you're under the grandfather clause you're in you're you're a driver you got a driver but from now on everybody else is gonna have to have a driver's license according to my granddaddy there wasn't a lot of rules back then you just drove anywhere you won't drive everything pretty much okay wasn't that many people had a car you just drove like you wanted now then they got a lot of laws to make the offense abound and make coffers of counties get rich by giving us all tickets amen I mean they got a rule for everything you know why so not yeah they got all them rules for your protection yeah they got a lot of rules I mean honestly you could if you let your you you just do a little bit you're just obligated to ticket you know why because laws to make you be a sinner that's what the law was given by God so you know you sinned somewhere along the way you've all got the idea I got to keep all these rules and then you get up in the morning and you clean up your face and you put on your coat and you fix your hair and you're like
[32:41] God do I look good enough yet and the God from heaven looks down and said no you don't I gave a whole bunch of rules you still stink it's not you it's me God gave us a law so that the offense or sin might abound if you do not see how sinful you are then you'll not feel the need for grace if you're not sinful then you'll not need God to do something in your life if you're not sick you'll not need a doctor the law was not given as a means or a way to live the law was given to show you how not not how to please God but how you can't please God and you don't please God a rich young ruler came to Jesus and Jesus he said Jesus what must I do to inherit eternal life he said keep to take amendments and the boy rashly and stupidly says I've done that ever since I was a kid I ain't never messed up which was uh which was very much like a Baptist huh and Jesus said well then go sell everything you got and give it to the poor the guy said I ain't doing that so he must have had a God before him before the God of heaven hmm so he must have lusted after things and wanted things the truth is that one comment kind of shows he blew the 10 commandments when Adam what at when
[33:54] Adam did what he did death reigned Romans 5 21 read it with me Romans 5 21 that as sin hath reigned unto death even so my grace reigned through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ Adam brought sin and death and death was king of the earth Jesus brings grace so that righteousness will reign unto eternal life but look whose righteousness did you look in verse 21 by circlet by Jesus Christ not by Austin not by the Baptist church by Jesus Christ we have received an offense we have received an abundance of grace we've received an abundance of grace look at verse 17 again for by one man's offense death reigned by one much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one Jesus Christ it's God pouring out his goodness on us it's a gift and it all comes from one Jesus it's not what I can do to please him that saves me or keeps me saved but it's how great and wonderful his grace is closing verse I give you Romans 5 20 moreover the law entered that the offense might abound but where sin abounded grace did much more abound well I had struggles when I was a kid about was I really saved had I lost my salvation did I need to do something else did I pray the right prayer did I believe enough and I put so much emphasis on me but all I did was receive a gift all I did was accept what Jesus did all I did was trust what
[35:44] Jesus did on the cross of Calvary and today I would say to you man sometimes I wake up in the morning and I literally think to myself you got to be the biggest scumbag on this planet you're lazy you're a bum you have bad attitudes you don't really want to do what you ought to do and I honestly I think to myself God if I was you I'd kill me I really would man if I was in charge of this universe I'd just get to Austin and the God of heaven looks down and says buddy when your sin abounds my grace does much more abound Romans 5 12 through 21 is so strong as it says this you didn't mess up Adam did and you followed him you didn't do right Jesus did and you followed him it's to such a point that grace is being screamed grace I'm saved by grace I'm saved by what Jesus did I'm saved by what somebody else did not what I did not what I do not what I'll ever do and it's such a strong statement he says this man where your sins this deep God's grace is to the roof of this building God's got great grace and so every one of us would easily go well I think I'll just live like the devil and so in Romans chapter 6 he starts off and says this so what are we going to say about all this grace Romans 6 1 what shall we say then after I've heard about all this great grace and after I've heard about all this wonderful God and after I've heard about how Jesus did it all what shall we say then that we just keep on sinning shall we continue in sin so that God will keep on showing grace
[37:12] God verse 2 God forbid how shall we that are dead to sin live any longer therein this morning I am swallowed up in the greatest love and grace that you can imagine you can't paint God's picture of love and grace bigger than it is no matter how big you make it it won't be big enough no matter how beautiful you make it it won't be big enough but there's no excuse for you to sin no excuse for you to go off and do wrong if anything it's like wow I can't believe he loves me like he loves me I can't believe he saved me but what he did religion and churches have been built on this if you don't do right you're going to lose it you don't do right you're going to lose it you got to measure up you got to measure up no you don't have to measure up he measured up we none of us measured up it was him that measured up it's a gift but you'll have to receive it you'll have to trust him you'll have to say I have sinned and I do need grace grace is a nasty word a lot of us we would say I don't need that I hadn't really messed up I mean I know there's a lot of people in this room they got it together but I got it together
[38:21] I mean these other people I can look around the room tell they're all messed up but me I really got it together I'm okay well you're not going to get saved you're going to look around and say man I stink as bad as any of the rest of them and today I trust Jesus and the just shall live by faith they'll believe that it was God through Jesus who did the saving father I pray your name will be glorified I pray you'd be magnified I thank you for Romans chapter 5 and I pray God that today you'd save somebody and I pray God you help some Christian trust you and believe that he is saved by your wonderful grace God I thank you for your goodness and I pray you'd work you have been listening to Austin Gardner pastor of Vision Baptist Church for contact information location service times or more audio and video recordings log on to www.visionbaptist.com
