What’s So Special About Being A Christian?

Think of the question at the top of the page. I can give you several reasons which answer the question!

1. A Christian is special to God. In Malachi 3:17, God calls those who believe in him his 'treasured possession', or 'his jewels'. Just how special we are is shown to us in Paul's letter to the Ephesians when he says that IN Christ God has blessed us, chosen us in love, predestined us to be adopted as his sons, according to the pleasure of his will; he has redeemed us and forgiven us. Yes indeed, the Christian is special to God.
2. The Christian is in a great family. The believers in Malachi's time "spoke often with one another". They had so much in common. They had fellowship together, they loved and they helped one another — they were the family of God. You need never feel alone or unwanted as a Christian if you are an active family member of your church.
3. Christians are secure for time and eternity. Each one is in God's 'book of remembrance' - the New Testament calls it 'the Lamb's (Christ's) book of life.' As a Christian your name is there — it speaks of your place in heaven.

Dear Lord Jesus, I thank you for making me a Christian. Help me to make you as special in my life as your word tells me I am special to you. Amen.
