Ray Sweet

As our Lead Pastor, Ray wears many hats. He is responsible for the preaching and teaching of God's Word, pastoral care, leading the staff, and carrying out the mission of FCC. Ray earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Preaching from St. Louis Christian College. While he was in college, he learned many of the ins and outs of vocational ministry at FCC! After college, his ministry career began in 2006 as the lead pastor of a church up the road in Rush County, which was followed by three years in Morristown, Tennessee. He joined the FCC team in 2018 and became the Lead Pastor in 2020. After living his youth years without Christ, Ray finds great joy in sharing the life-changing message of Jesus and seeing people come to Him and being in a daily walk with Him.

The family atmosphere of our church is one of Ray's favorite things about it. Even while he was away pastoring other churches before joining our staff, he still has fond memories of our church family encouraging him all the way! Today, he counts it a blessing to be able to do life and grow in his walk with Christ with the people God has brought to FCC.

Ray is married to his wife, Bethany, and they have three children: Joas, Jovie, and Lylah. In his spare time, Ray enjoys sports or just about any competitive game, and he is a big supporter of the Purdue Boilermakers, Indianapolis Colts, Tennessee Vols, and Atlanta Braves!
