Create and manage a series

Group related sermons on one public page and give the series its own description, image, resources, feed, and embed.

Create a series

  1. Go to New Series in the management menu, or start a new series directly.
  2. Enter the series Name.
  3. Add an optional Description. You can use Markdown for headings, links, and lists. Select Preview to check the formatted result, then select Write to continue editing.
  4. Under Image, upload a new image or select one from your image gallery. A widescreen image, ideally 1920 by 1080, works best.
  5. Add any series-wide attachments, then select Save Changes.

A series image becomes the display image for sermons in that series when they do not have their own image. See sermon image priority for the complete fallback order.

Add series attachments

Attachments are useful for a study guide, reading plan, or notes shared by the whole series.

  1. Enter an Attachment Name that listeners will recognise.
  2. Select Choose Attachment and choose the file.
  3. Repeat as needed. A series can have up to five attachments, and each file must be smaller than 5 MB.
  4. Wait for each upload to finish, then select Save Changes.

To remove an attachment, open the series, remove it from Current Attachments, and save.

Assign sermons to the series

You assign sermons from the sermon editor, not from the series page.

  1. Open New Sermon, or open an existing sermon under Sermons.
  2. Under Sermon Details, start typing in Series.
  3. Select the series from the results. A sermon can belong to one series.
  4. Select Save Changes.

If the series does not exist, the sermon editor offers Create New Series. Inline creation adds only the name and selects it for the sermon. Search first to avoid duplicates, then edit the new series to add the rest of its details. See quick-create a preacher or series.

Edit a series

  1. Go to Series.
  2. Select the edit icon beside the series.
  3. Change its details, image, attachments, or advanced settings.
  4. Select Save Changes.

The edit page shows recent sermons in the series, but changes to membership still happen in each sermon editor.

Control visibility and podcast settings

The edit page includes these Advanced controls:

  • Unlisted removes the series and its sermons from normal public lists, search, feeds, and list embeds. Direct links can still work, so this is not private access control. Read how unlisted content works.
  • Disable RSS Feed stops the series-specific podcast feed. It does not disable the church's main feed or unlist the series.
  • Podcast Artwork sets square artwork for this series feed. Upload a square image or choose a square image from the gallery. This is separate from the widescreen display image.

Leave Disable RSS Feed clear if listeners should be able to subscribe only to this series. On its public page, open Subscribe and use RSS for just this Series.

Embed one series

After the first save, the edit page shows Embed Code for this Series under Advanced. Copy the complete code to your church website. It lists the visible, published sermons in that series and updates as the series changes.

For other layouts and embed types, see embed sermons on a church website.

Delete a series

Only an Admin sees Delete Me.

  1. Open the series under Series.
  2. Under Advanced, select Delete Me.
  3. Check the name on the confirmation page and confirm the deletion.

Deleting a series does not delete its sermons. They stay in your library without a series, so reassign them first if you can.
